Microphone un-mute's every restart.

Q: Microphone un-mute's every restart.

Hey,
Every time I restart my computer I have to re-mute my microphone in the levels tab in the sound option. I do this so I do not hear myself talking through my speakers from my microphone, but so I can still use the microphone for applications.

Also, the microphone boost turn's off every restart as well.
So pretty much, every time I restart I have to mute my microphone again and re-enable the microphone boost.

What I want is too not have to do this on every restart. It only takes me about five seconds to set everything back up so it's only slightly annoying.

I have a creative x-fi xtreme gamer fatality sound card. I have set the correct settings through the audio console as well, but it still reset's to the microphone being set on and sound boost off on restart.

Thanks for any help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm thinking about buying a Blue Snowball iCE because they are fairly cheap and but have great sound quality. I've read some reviews and watched some videos and I'm very happy with this mic, the only problem is that is doesn't have a mute button. I use the mute button a lot because my parents come in to my room frequently and just start talking, so i need to mute my mic so my friends can't hear them. The Blue Snowball iCE mic doesn't have mute button on it so i need a quick way of muting my mic.

I thought of putting in a switch in the wire that goes into the PC. The mic is connected to the computer by a USB, is there an extension wire i could buy with a switch attached to it, that i could plug the mic into and then plug that into the computer?

I really need a fast way to mute my mic and if anybody has any ideas I'm open to them!

Thanks for reading and I hope you can help!

Okay I have no idea if this is even the right place to ask, but I am running Windows 8.1 so yeah idk. I would really like to have a microphone mute key on my keyboard. I have no way of muting except going into Recording devices and I don't want to do that. On my keyboard at the top I have a few keys mean't for other things, such as one on the end which opens up the Music app, and i'd like to just change one of those keys to a mute key for my microphone. I have a Blue Snowball microphone if that helps. I also have the Alienware Multimedia Keyboard that came with my Alienware X51.

Hello,

I bought a Logitech USB microphone to use with DJ / mixing programs, but I cannot mute it on my desktop computer running with Windows 81. The computer recognises it and says the driver is up to date. The sound quality is fine, but the microphone is constantly on and can be heard in the speakers or headphones while I have it turned off in the programs. I have tried front and back USB ports and three different programs and it is always the same. I have an older laptop using Windows 7 and the microphone works perfectly with full control.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Make and model number of the microphone?

Do you have custom sound software on your PC?

You can always disable it too when not in usage:

Hello.

After a restart of my computer, the playback of my microphone un-mutes, which makes it so I am able to hear what I speak into my microphone, which I don't want.

I am able to fix this issue each time by going to Playback Devices > Speakers > Levels (Tab) and then mute the microphone.

But my question is. Why doesn't this stay after a restart?

Hello. I have a new T450s with Windows 10.   I hit F4 and the amber light goes on showing the microphone is muted.  Problem is that it "looks" muted but it is not.  I have also gone in through the software to mute and it lights up the F4 buttton.. However, it doesn't actually mute the microphone.   So I can never mute the mic..  Is there a fix for this? I see others have had this problem in the past.Thank you.

A:Cannot mute microphone with new lenovo T450s

Same problem with an old E330. The problems started when upgrading to Windows 10 + Realtek HD Audio Drivers (or the Lenovo Realtek Audio drivers, just rebranded). Something in that combination breaks the microphone's ability to be muted by software. The button works ok, the On Screen Display shows the icon and it's shown as muted however still works.Muting it manually from within programs which use the microphone works as well, as does uninstalling the Realtek drivers and going forth with the default Windows 10 drivers (but then there's a loss of functionality with the sound - options).

The internal microphone on my Elitebook x360 doesn't work, it won't record.  I?ve had it a couple of months but only got the chance to start using it in the last two weeks.  It seems that there have been others with similar issues, so instead of start with the basics, here's what I?ve tried so far. In the 'Sound > Recording' tab (right click speaker in task bar) the internal microphone (Conextant ISST) is enabled and default (always was).  The green bars do not light up if talking into the microphone, but one or two bars will appear when I tap on the display. Internal microphone properties > Levels: microphone array 100%, microphone boost +36dB (max). I have tried other levels also.  The microphone does not mute by itself, as I read that others have experienced. Internal microphone properties > Advanced: have tried using lower default formats, exclusive mode: on and off, signal enhancements: on and off. In device manager, audio inputs and outputs: I have updated and then uninstalled and reinstalled the Internal microphone (Conextant ISST Audio) driver. In device manager, sound, video and game controllers: I have uninstalled, downloaded and installed new drivers for Conextant ISST Audio and Intel(R) Display Audio. The mic mute button on the keyboard (F8) is not on. In command prompt, as administrator, I have killed the svchost task in the name of the computer and then run Malwarebytes - did not fix anyth... Hi, Team. It has been 24-hrs since I found out my thinkpad is not turning on.I have used this last Saturday afternoon and shut down completely.I never ever put my TP into sleep mode or hibernate mode. When I woke up yesterday, 11am I found out that the Fn, Mute and Microphone keys are lit up. The fan is not working (the entire system is off). The temperature of the laptop is normal, not warm or heating up like it is being used. I have removed the external battery and power adapter, pushed the power button for more than 3mins., put back the battery and plugged the power adapter (the power button blinks when I plug the power adapter as it usually does when) and pushed the power button back - nothing happens. The Fn, Mute and Microphone buttons are still lit up and the TP is not turning on.I haven't pushed the emergency reset button at the back (I fear that I might lose all my files).Up until now, the same 3-keys are lit up. I need help as soon as possible.

Hi, I have a problem with my microphone mute button on my T410.  It does not mute the microphone when pressed.  I verified this by opening the Sound settings in Control Panel and the fact that the amber light doesn't come on to indicate it is muted.  When I mute the microphone through the Control Panel Sound option, the light does not come on either. This started happening after a reinstall of Windows.  I made sure to install all the software and driver updates using the Lenovo Driver and Software update tool. I also individually downloaded and installed the Conexant drivers, too. Any ideas? Thanks, Chris

Hi, Try the following. Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall. When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63408.exe When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, shutdown the notebook. Unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed,... For the past few weeks I have been having a serious problem. Every few hours, my computer restarts. This is premeditated by a loss in my speakers and my microphone, which comes back after a few seconds. However, I restart within 30 seconds of the loss of audio. This isn't a blue screen, this just plain turn off my computer. No error message. No minidump.

I did make a recent upgrade from dual 8800 Ultra graphics cards to a single GTX 295, all the voltages are fine, I have more than enough power. RAM is fine, nothing is wrong/changed for the past 3 months. These issues became very common when I installed STALKER: Call of Pripyat, so I uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller, not fixing anything.

Hi, recently I bought a new keyboard with multimedia keys
Model : Microsoft Wireless keyboard 1000
All the keys are working fine, I also installed the latest drivers and Intellitype Pro to the correct OS i'm using.
However, when I press the mute/unmute button, the volume bar shows up, but does not actually mute. It seems like it flashed the mute symbol for half a second but it still just stay unmute. I tried using the default Microsoft sound driver and the latest Realtek sound driver but still no luck.
I also tried turning HID services on and off but still the same
BUT, I remember the mute button WORKING until a few days ago.

I don't know if it is due to the Windows Update, or something to do with my motherboard driver or something else. The roll back driver option is greyed out in Device Manager so I don't assume that is the problem..

I'm currently using:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000
YAMAHA speakers YST-M15 (really old model)
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver 6.0.1.5859
ASUS M3A78-EM Motherboard

I'm really confused because if all the multimedia keys are working then it should not be a driver problem. If the volume up/down is working then it should not be speaker problem. It is ONLY the mute button that is not working.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I can still hear that the microphone works, because I hear myself through the headset, but I can't record and nobody can hear me. I've tried multiple things, but the only thing that works is a fresh restart. Plz any ideas? I've updated to the latest drivers, messed with control panel settings. Went into the Xonar menu and tried switching the front panel microphone. Still Nothing. It's like something gets shut off and the only thing to turn it back on is the restart.
Windows 7 32 bit

unMute/mute button keeps coming on/Off.  Just started after 2 years of using the ThinkPad E4 31 and dragonVoice recognition.  So basically prior to Tuesday, May 31 I never had the icons pop on and off on the screen and now it's been challenging using Dragon is a pop on/off and turn the Dragon microphone on and off.  Any words of wisdom?  Much thanks and peace

I just bought a HP 9470m Ultrabook. 3 days ago, the hard mute button (next to wifi button) still works fine. However, I just updated BIOS today. After that, the button does not work at all. It does not mute. When I press it, it just shows the volume bar. It does not even increase or decrease the volume. Any one has the same issue and can suggest solution? Thanks,

A:HP 9470m Mute button do not mute

Hello @bluesky141,  Please try to load defaults after going to BIOS, Tap F10 at the boot. Go to BIOS Page. Under MAIN Tab, click Restore defaults > Save changes and exit. See if that helps. If not reinstall drivers from the below link, restart after installing and check if that works.http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5271102&swItemId=ob_130088_1&swEnvOid=406... Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84I am not an HP Employee

Suddenly and out of nowhere my microphone has started transmitting system mix to the microphone output and no one can hear me. I've uninstalled audio drivers and reinstalled them to no avail. I have been using Realtek drivers and I have absolutely no idea what to do next. Please help!

A:[SOLVED] Computer Sounds being transmitted through Microphone output, not microphone

Are you plugging into the Back Pink audio jack of the computer not the front? Open the RealTek audio control panel in the Task Bar or in the Control Panel. Here you can adjust the Mic and test it.

Hi everyone,
So, my computer uses my built-in microphone instead of my headset's (a Razer Kraken Pro - in case this is helpful information) for sound recording and chatting in games. I have followed recommended procedures throughout the web, but none of them seemed to help me in any way. Can someone assist me?
Cheers,

I have a Dell Vostro 1500, running 32-bit Windows 7. It came with Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7 a couple months ago, which I think is causing the issues I'm experiencing. According to whoever I'm speaking with, the sound for the microphone built in to my webcam fades in and out and gets really loud randomly. In an attempt to solve this, I bought an external microphone which also does not work.

The sound driver is the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, version 6.10.0.5614. When I tried to update it through Windows 7's update driver software it says I have the best version for my system, but I still suspect that this could be what is causing the problem. I can't seem to find a better driver though.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Hi

Sorry if this has been posted before but some searching hasn't
revealed any results

I have just bought a headset with microphone for use with skype.
I also have a usb webcam with a microphone, but the microphone isn't
as good as the headsets.
When I have the webcam plugged in the headsets microphone doesn't
work, I guess the webcam's takes priority. Fine.
When I remove the webcam (which will be the norm) the headset
microphone doesn't then work. I have to restart the machine before it
does.

I've tried control panel->sounds and audio devices->voice->voice
recording and I can see that there are 2 options when the webcam is
plugged in but only one when not. Nothing I do here seems to help
Suggestions?

thanks for any help

What was it, about a month ago that Firefox introduced their mute tab feature? I loved it. Used it all the time. Now I've updated to Firefox 43 and it's gone. The button is, anyway, which is stupid to begin with, but even if I hit Ctrl+M or right click and select mute tab, nothing happens. Sound keeps playing. Everyone else having this problem?

A:Mute tab come and gone?

Check which version of Flash Player is installed for Firefox. If it's older than 20.0.0.235, the mute button might not work, so try updating to the latest version.

I'm using Firefox 44.0 beta 2 with the latest Flash Player (updated yesterday) and the mute button works on all compatible sites. See screenshot below.
