Acer Aspire 5248-2481 - How to replace RAM?

Q: Acer Aspire 5248-2481 - How to replace RAM?

Hey guys - this thing has a solid back on it. Anyone know where the RAM is located on this model?

If its in the back behind the panel, how do you get the panel off? There are, literally, 24 screws on the back of it - some are shallow, some deep set. Any idea which ones to unscrew to remove back panel?

Thanks

Preferred Solution: Acer Aspire 5248-2481 - How to replace RAM?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Acer Aspire 5248-2481 - How to replace RAM?

I don't see an Acer Aspire 5248 on their website, you sure thats the correct model number?

In any case most of the Acer's have one or more smaller panels on the bottom of the laptop that come off separately, and there's likely a picture of RAM(kinda looks like a saw) next to the one that provides access the memory. Just remove the screws for that one panel and lift up where its notched in.

Also, there's likely the a manual installed on the computer that may show you how to do it.

You probably need to install SATA drivers but without a floppy drive you'll have to make a slipstream CD. Google for the procedure as well as for the SATA driver. There are a number of guides that tell you how.

I would like to replace the top cover of my Acer Aspire E5-571P and I am currently looking at this item on ebay.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Acer-Aspire-E5-571P-US-Keyboard-w-Palmrest-Touchpad-AP154000900-/391... In their description, they say it "Does NOT include the power button" (contrary to the picture?). Would I have to buy a separate power button then? Or could I retrieve the power button from my current top cover and stick it onto that one? I have no experience with replacing computer parts so if you have any advice or pointers for me please share them with me! Thank you in advance.

Hi there, Several keys have died on my daughter's V5-473P keyboard.  I searched here and all I found were lots of customers complaining about failed keyboards with no answers, so I ordered a $20 replacement keyboard on ebay. My question is about how to remove the top panel/bezel that surrounds the entire keyboard and touchpad?  It seems like any effort to use a thin lever to pry it up would damage it...  Do I need to come at it from the bottom by removing the motherboard, etc?  I'm trying to repair this on the cheap, since it's barely out of warranty and after removing the bottom case, I find it's falling apart around many of the screw holes (the bottom case appears more pricey than the keyboard). Thanks.

After I replaced thermal compound with Arctic Silver 5, CPU reached 80-85 C and was not thermal-throttled (full turbo). The pre-applied GPU thermal compound is actually comparable to the Arctic Silver 5; GPU temperatures did not measurably change after re-application.

A:can anyone help, Acer aspire m1610 or acer aspire t180

First, each model has multiple hardware specifications. So I have no way of knowing the hardware configurations of either unit that you have.

Second, upgrades are limited on OEM PC's. Your only options will be RAM and the video card. And in the case of the video card, the power supply may not be able to handle a decent card.

Hello, my new Acer Aspire Notebook has my IE homepage stuck to global.acer.com and I can't change it through any of the IE options (Use Blank, Use Current, or typing it in manually - I'm trying to set it to Google).

I went to this page to solve the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q320159 (Home page setting changes unexpectedly, or you cannot change your home page setting).

As per Microsoft's instructions, I tried changing the "Start Page" value in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main," but I got the following error: "Cannot edit Start Page: Error writing the value's new contents." There was no "Default_Page_URL" entry in there.

I was able to change the "Default_Page_URL" value to "Google.com" under "HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main" and the "Start Page" value in there was already set to "http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd={SUB_PRD}&clcid={SUB_CLSID}&pver={SUB_PVER}&ar=home"

The "Default_Page_URL" and "Start Page" entries don't exist in the "HKEY_USERS\Default\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main" key.

Lastly, the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel" subkey doesn't exist either.

I would appreciate any help you could give me, thanks!

The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5742, IntelCore i3-380M
I am attaching a few pictures of what comes on the screen when I turn it on.
Even in safe mode it does not let me log in, it attempts repairs, it fails and then goes to the black screen with the white cursor.
If I try to start windows normally it loads the logo and then goes to the black screen.
Yesterday, in an attempt to do repairs it was replacing invalid security drivers or something like that and it was taking ages so I had to turn it off.
For the last week it took very long to start up, failing to configure windows but it would eventually let me log in.
Since yesterday I am only getting the black screen. it is windows 7 by the way.

i need a very quick reply please

I restarted my computer like normal and for whatever reason the computer is now stuck at the Acer boot screen. I try to press DEL to enter Setup and I even tried pressing F12 to go into the Boot Setup, but for whatever reason the computer does not respond to anything.

To shut it off I have to hold down the power button and eventually it shuts off.

Stuff to know:
- I have a wireless mouse and keyboard being used on that desktop.. Should I perhaps try to plug in a corded mouse and keyboard?
- I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate.
Thanks

Hi everyone I'm at my wits end! I cannot get my webcam to work. I have tried numerous options posted in different forums and on websites but nothing seems to work. Even when I went to the Acer update driver search site. When I added my model number I got about a dozen driver options but as soon as I put in my OS Windows 7 (64 Bit) it came back with no drivers. I've noticed in a number of forums that peoples webcams where working fine in Windows XP but when they updated to Windows 7 they lose the ability for their computers to find their webcams. Is this an inherent problem with Windows 7 and is there anyway to fix it short of buying an external webcam. Surly there must be a way to get it to work !!!

My system is roughly 5 months old. I had used the upgrade software that Acer provided to upgrade from Vista to 7 home premium. There was no issues with the install and everything worked great for a month and then it started going in to deep hibernation. The only way to wake it was to unplug the power from the tower. I did everything I could think of from editing the registry to updating drivers, to finally reinstalling everything. No go so I packed it up and sent it back to Acer. I just got it back from Acer's repair depot. They had to replace the motherboard, hard drive, and fans on the system. They performed a factory restore and told me that I was good to go and updating shouldn't be an issue. I went to use the upgrade dvd's from Acer and low and behold, the hibernation thing started again! It took me four attempts to restore it back to factory. Now it seems stable running Vista. I am in the process up updating the drivers and windows stuff so time will tell. Is it me or is Acer systems flakey?

Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can go about updating to Windows 7 without having to format every week? I have tried doing clean installs without going the upgrade path and it still behaves badly. Sometimes it won't even turn on. Or is it just possible that the pc I purchased just can't handle Windows 7?

A:Acer Aspire M3203 and Acer's Windows 7 upgrade software

Are you booting the Acer Win7 Upgrade Media DVD to do a clean install? You can do that to get the cleanest possible install, without the corruption that is imported from Vista in an in-place Upgrade.

The installer is driver-complete, but afterwards any missing drivers which don't quickly arrive in Optional Windows Updates can be found on the apps/drivers CD along with favorite apps like Works, cam, etc. Others can be found on the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model computer, Adobe (flash, Reader) and Java (runtime, free Ofc suite) sites.

Hey There

First of all: I'm a studend, so I can't speek good english, cause I live in Switzerland (plz write in German if you can )

So my Problem:

I've found a Acer Aspire 5920G with Windows Vista. This was so slow and annoying . So I deleded the whole OS and installed Win 7 Home Premium x64. Now I'm searching some drivers for my Notebook. My biggest Problem is the sound driver.
In Vista, there was a tool called "Acer eAudio Manager". I want to install it, because you can switch the equalizer to movie, music and game (and it sounds awesome with the bassbooster=D). I've downloaded the driver from the website and there was a error:

"This software can only be installed in authorized machine"

what can I do to install this tool? Some other tools, like acer power management or acer enet management, works great.

I thought I ask in this forum, because there were some good topics about the mouspad and synaptic of the 5920G (wich helped me=D)

I hope you understand my question and can help me

Greetings

(And yes, I'm a real Linux fan^^ I've used always Ubuntu. This is the first time that I use Windows )

Not sure why this happened but you can try rolling the system back to a previously working configuration. Try the steps to roll it back at http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37096/~/windows-10%3A-restore-windows-from-a-restor.... If Windows Updates ran prior to this happening something could have installed that caused this. Restoring it back like this should resolve the issue.

I finally found a soluation after months of wondering why this is happening. It's my Virgin Media connection, the modem/router as when I connected to my phones wifi, teethering, Acer Care Center instantly updated so something within Virgin Medias network is blocking connectivity. I did try the Virgin Media's router as cause by diabling firewall etc. but with no joy I gave up but didn't try another connection until just now with tethering where as stated problem is sorted. I will report this to Virgin Media and post back anything relevant to this.

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire V5-551. I forgot the password to my BIOS, so I disassembled the laptop and removed the CMOS battery for 30 minutes. Then I turned it on and noticed that it no longer boots into Windows, it won't let my go into BIOS  (still asking for the password) and it won't let me choose boot devices or go into recovery mode / factory reset. It's stuck on the "acer explore beyond limits" screen. Can anyone help me?

I wasted a lot of ink on this problem, by printing out a lot of information on it. But I found out that this is an easy fix. So I guess the wasted ink was not wasted after all, on one of these printouts was the solution. In the bio settings there is an option to change the default SATA Mode of the Boot Drive. The default is [AHCI] Mode Advanced Host Controller Interface. This needs to be set to [IDE] Mode using F5 key to change it over. As soon as I did this operation it let Windows Install and Format the drive with the correct size of the drive partition. (After setting the mode, do not forget to Save and Exit) I'm going to add this just because (ACER was no help on this problem and does not even have the driver's for my Acer Model on there web site) NOT GOOD ACER I hope this helps a lot of people that have had this problem. Later Fred

Hi. I cannot download Acer Care Center for some reason. I have tried via wired and wireless connectivity with no joy. The AcerCareCenterCheckTool prompts Download failed. Please check your network connection and try again. I have tried run as admin, troubleshoot compatibility to which it fails each time. The only thing that does change is when running the program sometimes it prompts Your model is supported. Do you want to download Acer Care Center? to which I press Yes then downloading... dots keep moving until Download failed. Please check your network connection and try again. appears. Is there a direct link to the actual setup file? Also just to note. I found W10 run a lot smoother when I previously installed W10 carrying over apps etc. from 8.1. This fresh install if you like, upgrade carrying over nothing has killed boot times which were considerably faster previously. Have I lost any vital software, drivers etc. carrying over nothing then manually installing drivers from Acer supports site?

Are you trying to download and install Acer Care Center because you lost the recovery partitions? If they are gone, nothing you can download will put them back. You will need to go to the Acer store, click ERECOVERY and purchase restore media.

You need to take out the back cover, you will find the video instruction in youtube very useful.

I have an old Aspire S3-391 laptop (upgraded from Win 8 to 10) that is used in the home for general stuff. The hard drive has some errors in it already according to HD Sentinel (hdsentinel.com) and I've noticed it has gotten "slower" even after clearing out all pictures and videos into an external drive. I've decided I want to install a new SSD, a 250GB one should be fine for what I'm using it for. So the main issue is how do I migrate my Windows 10 to a new SSD -- as far as I know I cannot have both the HDD and a new SSD installed on the laptop at the same time -- there's not even a CD/DVD drive I can remove. Is this possible? I was thinking:1. buy internal SSD PLUS an enclosure so I can plug it in to the USB port as an external drive2. clone current drive to external SSD3. remove current drive from laptop; remove SSD from enclosure and install as internal drive to laptop Will this work? Is there a better way? Thank you! Rico

Hi, Recently I opened up my lapy acer aspire E5-551G-T018 in order to replace my 1TB HDD for 240GB SSD. And now recently I saw on one website that there are these caddy's which can be used to replace DVD rom for additional HDD or SSD.  My laptop does have a DVD. It is held by just one screw in the back. The DVD rom does not have SATA connector but some smaller connector then SATA, I dont know its name. What I was wondering is could it be possible to replace the DVD rom on this model for a caddy with my old HDD in it?  And if it is possible. Which thickness would I need for my future caddy? Thank you!

Recently the hdd in my aspire went out. So I went out and bought a ssd. Now my question is this: How do I install this drive and get it to be recognized? What Bios settings do I need to have setup? I'm going to be reinstalling Windows 8.1 again. The ssd is a Sandisk SSD Plus SDSSDA-240G. Much thanks for any help and guidance.

I'd like to know if it is possible to replace the eMMC flash storage (SK Hynix HBG4e) installed on the Acer Asprie ES1-331 with a SATAIII-SSD (like the 850 Evo or similar 7mm thick SSD).I've read on this discussion that on the smaller ES1-111 "the header for the 2.5-inch drive bay has been removed", so it could be troublesome to do it on the ES1-331.On the other hand it is possibile to do it with the ES1-311 version that comes with a 500GB HD, as shown here.As any of you succeded in replacing the eMMC with a SSD?If so, would I still have the expected read/write performances of the chosen SDD or it would be limited by the SATA interface version present on the ES1-331 or bottlenecked by the CPU or by other hardware components?

A:Is it possible to replace eMMC SSD of an Aspire ES...

if your model has only the 32GB SSD, the only way to know if it has a SATA connector is to open the back. as far as i know your model has the SATA connector, it's on the right side of the motherboard. just remember that you will always have the eMMC since it's soldered and can't be replaced.

How can i replace the hdd for a ssd in my Aspire VN7-792G?

A:replace hdd for ssd in aspire VN7-792G

Hi,You need to familiarise with disassembly procedure by watching videos, you need to decide which type of SSD you actually want to install, you have the option of replacing the current HDD with 2.5" normal SSD or M.2 SATA SSD.Now, you need to back up your current drive image to another external hard drive, and create a recovery disk using a program like Macrium reflect or similar program. Then you need to install the SSD, go to BIOS and make the dvd/USB as the first boot, connect the external hard drive, insert the DVD/USB recovery disk, reboot. Now, you can recover the image you backed up earlier to the new SSD.If you need more clarification, please post your question.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhqm2yg_aiI&t=466shttp://www.macrium.com/help/v5/How_to/Rescue/Create_a_Standard_Windows_PE_Rescue_Environment.htmhttp://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50074.aspx

I have a new Notebook Acer Aspire E 15. When I wanted to download its manual from the Acer website (http://www.acer.com/ac/de/DE/content/drivers) there was no such Notebook listed, respectively I could not found one. I filled in the series number of my Notebook and the name, make shown was Aspire E5-573.

What does that mean? What is the sense of it using completely different names for the same Notebook?
