Win 7 does not detect Nvidia card

Q: Win 7 does not detect Nvidia card

I installed Windows 7 RC and it does not recognize my nvidia graphics card. No graphics card shows up in device manager. My screen is smaller than the monitor. There is a black border around my desktop. There is one error icon in device manager. It is on a PCI to PCI bridge. I tried installing nvidia drivers but I get a message that there is no card supported by those drivers. Here are some specs of my system.

EVGA nForce 790i SLI FTW motherboard
Nvidea GeForce 9400 GT Video card in PCI slot (only slot in use)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,

Si

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

have you disabled the old graphics card in device manager? (if it is an integrated card) then run your cd driver disc again for the new card.
also unplug your pc and check you seated the card properly.

Hello,
I have an alienware laptop with an nvidia 335m gt graphics card and it works perfectly for about a week. Then after an update, it can't be detected. This is the second time this has happened, the first time I just reformatted and it was back. Now after about the same amount of updates, it's not being detected again and the system reverts to one called "dell chipset family". The nvidia geforce program is still installed, however when I run it, it can't find the graphics card either. Please help lol I don't want to have to reformat every week because I'm not savvy enough to figure out what the problem is.

Thank you
Ricky

A:Cannot detect my nvidia 335m gt graphics card after update

You should not be installing this update.

Download the video drivers directly from Dell.

Uninstall any video drivers you have now.

Install the drivers you downloaded from Dell.

It will now be fixed.

Laptops are different, you need the driver from Dell and do not let windows update it.

Make sure windows is set to let you know about updates, but let you decide whether to install them, do not install any video drivers using windows update.

HELP. I tried uninstalling old nvidia drivers. When I put my new one in, there wasn't an old graphics card in place. I tried youtubing possible solutions. I'm considering taking my pc the best buy so they can hook it up, but I don't wanna spend more money. The power watts meet it's standard. I had to buy a new one. I KNOW it's in the right place inside, but my computer won't detect it. The PNY software DVD won't detect it. It says not found. I understand that you have to install a diver that's compatible, and I tried that, but it says checking system... and then It can't find it! It's been months. I uninstalled every nvidia driver or thing on my computer, which now makes my screen look small, which is really annoying. please help!

A:Computer won't Detect Nvidia Geforce 730 Graphics card

You need to tell use more about your computer, what is the make and model of it, what is the model of the motherboard, what is the model of the power supply? What version of Windows?

Is it the Geforce GT 730 you bought or something else? What is the intended use of the new graphics card?

And what graphics card or GPU did you have before adding this card?

Do you have the monitor connected to the new graphics card or do you by chance still have it connected to the integrated graphics that many computer have? It needs to be connected to the new card before turning the computer on.

Have you made sure the card is seated fully in the slot?

Have you tried using the latest drivers from the NVidia website: http://www.geforce.com/drivers

Do you have access to another computer to try the card to make sure its not defective?

A:Nvidia Geraphic card don't detect in Dell 5110

I have no personal experience with it, but your N5110 uses NVidia Optimus technology. It uses the Intel graphics much of the time, but is supposed to switch to the NVidia graphics for more demanding purposes.

Hello, I recently performed a clean install of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate onto my computer. While doing so, I had to unplug my graphics card and use the onboard video, otherwise I'd get an error about unexpected restarts.

After installing, Windows 7 doesn't detect the graphics card (the card works, but it doesn't show up under the device manager and I can't install nVidia drivers). If I use the BIOS to switch to onboard video, then that shows up on the device manager and works fine, but I use this PC for gaming so I'd prefer to use the video card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Hi,I have in the past had a lot of problems with my Nvidia K2000M on my W530. Windows have kept disabling this due to "code 43" (Yellow triangle by the display driver).I have solved this by reinstalling Nvidia drivers, but when this happened every 3 days or so, I started to suspect something was wrong. And I believe I was right.... I tried to uninstall the driver (probably a mistake) before reinstalling the driver, but now the graphics card cannot be detected at all. When I try to install Nvidia drivers I get the following error message: "NVIDIA Installer cannot continue. This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". I also tried to disable optimus in BIOS, and enabled discrete graphics to try to force the computer to find the NVIDIA graphics card, but this obviously didnīt work. The computer then starts up with low graphcis and bad resolution. Under "Display adapters" in Device Manager there is no card detected at all (As the Intel integrated was disabled). So, is my NVIDIA graphics card defective, or is there som other solution to try to detect it? PS! Here's the deal,
I purchased a HP Pavilion dv9540us Entertainment Notebook PC and upgraded to Windows 7, after I got a virus and let Microsoft Techs into my laptop remotely in an effort to remove the worm and they deleted some key OS Files. So, they were kind enough to give me Windows 7 Professional & install Office 2010, but failed to inform me that upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 would render my Nvidia graphics card useless. So, here I am trying to figure out what to do and where to get the correct Drivers to get my HDMI & Other ports working again. I tried talking to HP, but to them it's a matter of national security & if your not willing to "Grea$e the wheels" they're not willing to give up the "seceret." Although, They did tell me that I will need to download a chipset driver to my HP Pavilion dv9540us that is compatible with Windows 7 and then my Nvidia graphics card will be detectible by my Device manager. Then I would need to update my Nvidia Drivers, Reboot, and I should be up and running. Sounds good, but what is the HP Driver I need? Does anyone have a link or any better input?
Because, I am about ready to Smash this thing or hunt down some HP Support guy.

O... Here's my dillema.   My HP NVIDIA card (HP p/n 466762-001 rev:M03) in my HP Model: 9520f Windows 7 Ultimate machine failed.   I replaced it with an ASUS NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT card (p/n 5188-8004, asus p/n C403H) that came from a spare HP Pavillion Model a6150y Vista machine I had on hand. The initial VID/Graphics card failure and susequent replacement caused much havock with Windows and some other stuff (ie, not booting/loading Windows etc...) and after much effort I was able to get everything loading & working reasonable well again.   But the problem I'm still having is with the old drivers (removing them and all their remnants) and loading the new drivers for the ASUS NVIDIA card that is now in my machine.  I've tried normal uninstalls as well as the GURU 3D.com DDU uninstall.  I think (and it appeares) that all the old NVIDIA drvers and other software has been uninstalled because I can not find any of it in the normal locations.   But I am still unable to install the NVIDIA 8500GT drivers for the ASUS card from the NVIDIA site or even the NVIDIA drivers/software updates that Windows Update has detected and suggested in Windows updates.  The insalls start out fine but soon fail to complete. Evidently I (and my brother who was in my machine remotely for a good 6 hours because he is an IT/Computer tech and is ten times more knowledgable than I on this) are missing something very... I would try uninstalling the NIC...then run chkdsk /r (system will have to be reboot to run chkdsk /r).

Then I would just try to install my NIC anew and set up my network anew (it sounds like all your protocols are awry).

All of those network drivers/protocols are installed when you reinstall the NIC, using the motherboard CD you have.

Hello,
I have a MSI GS73VR Stealth Pro 7RF laptop using windows 10 64-bit home.

Recently, I tried to update two of my graphics drivers, one for the intel HD graphics 530, and one for my NVIDIA 1060. It was a hassle; I managed to update my intel driver, but I can't install the NVIDIA 1060 driver. It starts to install, but then a windows notification tells me it is done and to restart, but then the installer gives the failed install message, and I can't try again until I restart. I have deleted every file that has to do with NVIDIA (backed them up just in case). Not only that, but when I go to System Information, I can't find info on the 1060, just the intel 530, (like it isn't even there), and the NVIDIA 1060 driver isn't in the device manager under system devices. I get the drivers from the MSI website here, specifically for my computer. I have looked everywhere on the internet and haven't found a solution.

I didn't back up my drivers (I forgot), and I don't have any windows recovery backups.

Can someone help me fix these problems? I would very much appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Hello, and thank you for checking out my post.  My apologies for writing a book, but I'm hoping to give as much detail as needed the first go round. I just received my custom-built T420s (4170-CTO) and have a couple technical questions/concerns about it.  The details of my configuration are located at the bottom of this post. First off, one of the deciding factors of my purchase was the discrete graphics card.  On the T420s I chose NVIDIA NVS 4200M Optimus Graphics 1GB, Intel Core i7-2620M Processor?.  I was thrilled to have more than 256 MB of dedicated graphics memory for my games.  Upon receiving my laptop, though, I ran the Windows Experience Index and saw that the lowest score was the graphics card, which is identified as Intel HD Graphics Family and has 64 MB of dedicated graphics memory.  After my heart started beating again I checked Device Manager and found under Display both Intel HD Graphics Family and NVIDIA NVS 4200M listed as working with up-to-date drivers.  When I configured the laptop online there was no mention of hybrid graphics, so I'm not sure why I have an Intel Graphics card on the machine.  My current laptop that I was looking to replace is a T61p with a NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M graphics card, and only that NVIDIA card is shown under Device Manager and in the Windows Experience / Performance Information.  Thinking that perhaps disabling the Intel card would cause the NVIDIA card to take over, I disa... i am upgrading from nvidia 5200fx to 5500fx.....my games are skipping quite a bit(command and conquer generals), and my pc is working alot of overtime. my problem is that when i switched out the old agp card and popped in the new one, my dell monitor would not turn on under any circumstances. however, the monitor works fine with the old agp card and with the onboard graphics if both agp cards are absent. i have tried EVERYTHING. from updating the bios, to switching the ram around, to uninstalling the old drivers and shutting down, then installing new card, but still not able to get into windows. i tried booting into safe mode, but i cant see the screen to do so.
im very frustrated, out of options almost. my pc is almost top of the line. pentium 4, 3.0ghz, 512ddr ram, 80gb hd. The only possibility i can think of that could be wrong is too much power for the supply, which i find hard to believe.....

A:2nd Monitor can driven ONLY by Nvidia!!! Intel igpu Do Not detect 2nd monitor (inspiron 7577)

Once again, switchable graphics only controls which GPU is used for rendering. It does not change which GPU is physically wired to the display outputs, and all 3 of the features I listed earlier require support from the GPU that is physically wired to the display output in order to be used. Currently, Intel GPUs do not support any of those features, so in a system with the design you want, those features couldn?t be used even if the system had a dGPU that supported those features, because the dGPU wouldn?t be physically wired to the display output. I?m sitting on an XPS 15 right now that is designed the way you want and has switchable graphics with an NVIDIA GPU that supports those features ? but my system can?t use any of them because the iGPU is wired to the display outputs. Switchable graphics does not fix that. You can shout in Caps Lock and say things as many times as you want, but that won?t make you right. You clearly don?t fully understand how some of these technologies work and what they require, but if you still think I?m wrong, go do some research and you?ll find lots of threads of people asking why their laptops with NVIDIA GPUs don?t support G-Sync or VR ? or 5K displays, which is another one I forgot about. This will be the reason why.

XP will not recognise a Belkin 10/100 ethernet network card, either through PnP at start up or manually. I've tested the card on a 98 machine and had no problem installing and using.
Mother board is Gigabyte P4 Titan series.
Seller assures me he has used the card with XP and it works.
I've checked the bios but can't find anything. This is my first dealing with XP, any tips would be appreciated.

amd athlon 64 x2 4200
2gb kingston ddr2 800
250 gb maxtor sata
geforce 7900gs

the story:
I recently built the above listed rig. Everything works fine but I had an 80 GB samsung ata hd that I figured I could get some more use out of. M/b has one ide slot and the ribbon is full of optical drives. I bought a pci ide card, installed the drivers and connected the samsung. XP detects the drive. Good so far.
Here is where my question begins. I want to install a linux distribution (Freespire) on the samsung, but BIOS won't detect the drive. When I boot from the Freespire cd the installer boots up but doesn't show the samsung, only the 250 GB maxtor. How can I get BIOS to recognize the HD on the PCI card? I've seen disabling the onboard IDE controller suggested in other posts, but won't that disable my opticals? If the opticals are down I can't boot Freespire. Any help would be appreciated.

A:bios won't detect hdd on pci ide card

If linux does not see the drive, you need a driver. Go to the site of whoever made the card and see if they have linux drivers available. I know promise has some linux drivers on their site. Note you often need to flash the card bios [not system bios] to use the linux drivers; again this is for promise cards.

I searched the forum for this problem but found nothing. I was installing a new pcmcia serial card on my Dell Latitude D500 because I broke the old one. Before the drivers installed I realized that the drivers for the old card had not been uninstalled so I tried to stop the process so that I wouldn't get a conflict. Windows installed the wrong drivers and I got the message that my hardware might not work properly. I clicked ok before I realized the box was checked that said"do not ask to install this hardware again". I have the correct drivers but windows will not recognize the card. How do I reverse the "do not ask to install this hardware again"?

Thanks,

Hi,

I have a secondhand ATI HD 5770 Graphic Card, i have used it for some time, but the fan is working slow (30% on AMD Catalyst Control center), i tried to clean the fan and unscrew the fan and the heatsink to clean it, after i put it all together, the fan seems better but my PC can not detect it now? How can i damage it?

When i connect Monitor using the card's slot the monitor does not detect any signal and i connect to the motherboard's it detect signal and start the windows. When i check hrough device manager (while connecting the card on the slot, but using motherboard's port), i did not detect any card on the slot?

Did i damage it? Any help would be appreciated.

Did you reconnect the graphic card's power supply connection(s) when you reinstalled the card? The manual for that GPU shows that it needs a power connector.

So, I upgraded from 32-bit Vista to Windows 7 RC. All went well, except for my computer now only detects (under Display Adapters) a Standard VGA Adapter. I have a Dell XPS M1530 notebook, and it came with a nVidia GeForce card, I believe it was a GeForce 8600M GT. I right-clicked and told it to check for hardware changes, but it will not detect the graphics card.

Because of this, it is not displaying any of the Aero effects, etc, and my second monitor is not receiving any signal although it is properly connected.

Does anyone know how I would be able to fix this?

I was trying to install a new video card to my father in laws HP. Its an HP Pavillion m7530n. It had a 7300 LE that I guess burned out and wasn't physically installed. I plugged in the vga cord to the standard plug on the back of the computer and started uninstalling the old nvidia drivers. Once uninstalled I restarted and put in the 8800 gts. I had all ready downloaded new drivers for the card so once back up and running (still plugged into the standard vga because no picture from 8800 gst) and installed new drivers. After that was done I rebooted again and no picture still from 8800 gts. I plugged it back into the onboard plug and the drivers had updated the onboard 6150 LE.

Tried a few things such as BIOS loading the video from PCI-E instead of PCI or Onboard and still no picture. Any other ideas? I tried posting on tomshardware (mistake again...) and only got sarcastic replies and a "what you should have done was". Could the card itself (a card from a friend who bought a new one) not be working, not compatible? Oh, I did put it a new power supply. 450 watt with 24a on the 12v. I used the direct 6 pin for plugging it in. COuld the monitor cord have something to do with it also? I am using a vga with an adapter on the vid card side only. Any advice on what to do next would be appreciated.
EDIT: Right now I plugged it back into the vga port and it has the 6150 LE installed again. If I plug it into the 8800 gts it is only a black screen and the only picture... Read more

Hi all,

... strange issue that I cannot figure out.

Motherboard: Gateway DX4850
CPU1: i5-2300
CPU2: Pentium G645

When I install the Pentium CPU, it detects the video card in the x16 PCIE slot. When I install the i5 CPU, it does not detect the card.

I've tried the i5 CPU in another MoBo and same issue --- it does not detect the video card.

There are no bent pins on the CPU, and it was previously functional.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

Your motherboard supports these CPU's.

It seem like Gateway used a i5-2300

Gateway DX4850-45u (PT.GBL02.018) Desktop PC Intel Core i5 2300 (2.80GHz) 6GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

When you are using a prebuilt motherboard (Gateway) their is no way to get enough info.

If I had to guess I would think it's the bios.

I just installed a M2 card.....the Samsung 950 Pro and installed windows 8.1 on it. The M2 card is in the M2 slot of the Sabertooth x99 motherboard. When I am booted into windows 8.1/M2 card, I can see my SSD that has windows 7 on it.

But when I boot into windows 7 I can not see the M2 card, I can see other internal hard drives I use for storage, but I cant seem to get it to see the M2 card. I will say that I have also on another SSD that has windows 10 on it and when I boot into windows 10 I can see the M2 card and the SSD that windows 7 is on.

I have installed the Drivers for the M2 card the best I can, but since windows 7 cant see the M2 device, I cant really install the drivers properly.

Any ideas? I am using ACHI and installed windows 7 with GPT UEFI. And I can also boot into each SSD OS with no problems, strangely the boot manager doesn't see windows 7, but does allow me to multi boot with windows 10 and 8.1

Hi and welcome

type device manager in search. Go to the sound tab and see if yours is listed and if it has a yellew triangle on it. If it is not look for any "unknown" devices with yellow on them.

I have a Lexar photo card reader and every time I put in my compact flash card, it auto detects and gives me the options to download. For some reason now it won't do it and I have to open a photo program and it is taking forever. How do I get it to auto detect again?

A:Card reader won't detect

If you go into My Computer, right click on the icon for your drive (the drive must be plugged in, though you may or may not require media in it) and select properties. Now, there should be a tab at the top that says "AutoPlay", and in that it'll give you selections of different types of file, and then what it should do. From what you've said, you want to pick "Prompt me each time" for every type of media inserted...

My Compaq presario laptop which is about 4-5 years old but like new, ran great until my kid did "nothing" to it and it crashed, i tried everything and resorted to re-installing windows XP, i also downloaded on another pc and installed SP 2. When i plug in either my wired or wireless network adapter cards, i get the following error and can't seem to get it to coreect. The error is:

The device"Texas Instrument PCI-1410
cardbus controller" has detected a Cardbus card in its slot, but the firmware on
the system is not configured to allow the cardbus to controller to be run in
cardbus mode. The operaing system will currently accept only...." the rest of
the error is cut off, I am totally frustrated.

Any suggestions? I downloaded and installed any updates from the HP/Compaq site. I notice on the web that this PC often has this error after a re-install but can't find any solutions to it, only people trying to solve the problem.

If you can help me out that would be great, other than no net the PC is working as good as ever. The light on the adapters does not come on.

Win 7 64 bit

HP Pavillion dv5-2135dx Notebook

All drivers up to date.
No viruses or spyware detected.
Tried two different makes and size of memory sticks and PC doesn't see either.
Hear a tone when inserting and removing, similar to that when connecting and disconnecting a USB device
Expect to see the chip (flash card - memory stick) as a Drive when double clicking the Computer icon on the desktop. Not there.

It used to work quite a while back. Any ideas what I could have done to prevent it now?

Thanks,

Bill

Check Device Manager, card-reader should be listed in there. See if it shows any device driver errors. If yes, re-install the driver. You can download it from HP support:

UK: http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/support-drivers.html

USA: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

If no such driver is found, it's built into Windows 7, so just try uninstalling the device in Device Manager, then restarting.
Windows will automatically install a fresh copy of the driver.

Hello thewink,

This is always going to be a problem with older hardware as the manufacturers just don't see the point of releasing new drivers You might be better off getting a new card.

I recently lost everything to some sort of virus so I was forced to reformat and reisntall windows xp pro. After installing I can't access the internet, when I diagnose the connection issue with IE it says,

"Windows could not detect any wired or wireless network cards installed on your machine. If you are connecting to the Internet through your phone line using a dial-up connection you will need to contact your internet service provider. Otherwise please make sure that the network card drivers are installed properly or contact the manufacturer of your personal computer for further assistance."

I'm connected to a stable connection through an ethernet cable to my router, and nothing. I no longer have the driver recovery CD's that came with my computer, and I followed the advice of another person on this site that came across a similar problem, but we have different motherboards so I couldn't get the drivers to cooperate. My computer info is listed in my profile, I have an ABIT-AA8XE motherboard. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Also let me know if you need any more information because I'm not super savvy with this stuff, but I can do my best.
