Hi, I have a HP 2013 Ultra Slim Docking Station with Elitebook pro 840G1 but I can't display op either DP ports from the docking station when I connect my Dell 2516Q 4k monitor. When I plugin the DP cable directly on the laptop it works like a charm. Seem that the dockingstation doesn't support this monitor. Is there a firmware or driver I need to install to get this working? Thank you for the feedback and assistance. Jack

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I hooked up DP cables on the docking station and the maximum resolution that I could get is 2560x1440.  When I tried to connect directly from the laptop to the monitor I was able to get 3840x2160.  So I know that the laptop is able to display at 4k. Does anyone know whether the docking station has a limitation or whether there is some firmware that needs to be updated? Thanks.

I don't know which notebook model you have, but I'm finding random posts online about HP notebooks only being able to drive one analog monitor at a time, so you may be out of luck there. That docking station firmware update is for Displayport hub built into the docking station.  It can only be updated if you're connected to at least one monitor using displayport.  And it has nothing to do with analog port anyway, so it won't help you even if you could update the firmware.

I have a new LG ultra wide monitor that has support for HDMI and DisplayPort that I cannot seem to get working.  I have tried connecting the displayport cable to the dock and montior and I do not get a signal at all.  I have also tried the HDMI connection but I cannot get the resolution to the recommended 2560 x1080. Any direction would be very helpful/.

A:Dell XPS with Docking Station and LG Ultra Wide Monitor...

DisplayLink can support that resolution, but the D1000 is a very old dock that uses a very old DisplayLink chipset, and that particular chipset probably doesn't.  However, even with a newer version of DisplayLink such as would be found in the D6000 dock, DisplayLink would give you an inferior experience at that resolution anyway if you ever did things like gaming or full-screen video.  You really want your display to be directly controlled by the GPU.  So, considering that you have a 9550 that has a Thunderbolt 3 port, you have two options:
- Buy a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, which would tap into the native GPU DisplayPort output wired to that port.
- If you want to have everything connected to a dock, buy either a WD15 or TB16 dock.  Either one would allow the attached display(s) to be driven directly by your GPU rather than through DisplayLink, and unlike your D1000, these docks can additionally charge your system via their USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 cable, so you'd have a true single-cable solution.  The WD15 allows a single display of that resolution (or dual 1080p), and the TB16 allows up to dual 4K displays or three 2560x1600 displays.  Since you have an XPS 15 9550, with the WD15 you'd need the 180W adapter version and with the TB16 you'd need the 240W adapter version.

When trying to use a Displayport to VGA or a Displayport to DVI cable to connect from an HP 2013 Ultraslim Docking station to an external display, the display comes up with no signal and goes to sleep. Connecting with a VGA cable, it works fine. We were able to replicate this issue with multiple new, fresh out of the box docking stations. The issue happens on any monitors that we connect, even ones that work with other docks. It seems to be the Intel Displayport Topology is picking up the display and making it so that the displayport cannot be activated without connecting 3 monitors.  The older version of the Ultraslim Docking station that only had 1 displayport seems to work just fine, it's just the newer 2013 version that has 2 displayports that has this issue.  Does anyone know if there is any newer firmware or where I can disable/stop the Displayport Topology from picking up this one monitor and trying to make it 3 displays? If not, we're probably going to have to go back to USB adapters and those are no fun. Thanks,Andrew System info:HP Elitebook 840 G1, G2, and G3 (Issue has occured with all 3 models.)Windows 7 Enterprise x64HP 2013 Ultraslim Docking StationDock Firmware 2.30Updated Graphics, Chipset and USB drivers to latest version from HP's website.

I have a Dell E5440 laptop issued to me at work. I added a Dell Latitude E Series PR03X Docking Station and recently replaced a 1920 x 1080 monitor with an LG 29UB55-B 29" UltraWide monitor with a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1080. The docking station has two ports, a DVI port and a DisplayPort. I discovered pretty quickly that the DVI port is single-link since my external monitor's resolution maxed out at 1920 x 1080. I ordered a DisplayPort cable in the hope that it will support the monitor's full resolution, but this question occurred to me:
Can the E5440 support an external monitor at that resolution? It used two video solutions, the Intel HD Graphics 4600 and a Nvidia GeForce 720M Discrete Graphics Card with 2 GB of RAM.
It uses two video solutions, the Intel HD Graphics 4600 and a Nvidia GeForce 720M Discrete Graphics Card with 2 GB of RAM, and apparently switches from one to the other depending on demand. My research suggests that both can support the resolution I need, but only through a DisplayPort. Of note, the laptop itself doesn't have a DisplayPort, but the docking station does. I don't know if that is a problem or not.
Is anyone else out there successfully driving a 2560 x 1080 monitor with a Dell docking station and laptop?

A:Can my Dell E5440 drive a 2560 x 1080 display through the docking station?

Thank you for your message. This system does support a resolution of 2560 x 1080.The maximum resolution supported by the Intel graphic card is 3840x2160.As you mentioned, you have a switchable graphic card. When there is a graphic intense application used, the system will automatically switch to the discrete card. You can also manually set the application to automatically open with the discrete card. You will need to use an HDMI – Display port adapter.

Thank you for your post. I will help any way I can!

I understand that you are having an issue with connecting the HP Elitebook 840 G1  to a docking station with external monitor.  I know you said it is new, so have you done all the Windows updates? You have the option to run the HP Support Assistant and or the built in Windows troubleshooter to aid in resolving issues and updating drivers.   Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.
b. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under Settings.
c. Now type Hardware Troubleshooter in the Search option.

Hello Everyone, I am having an issue with the NIC on the Ultra Slin dock 2013.  It will occasionally lose connectivity throught the NIC on the dock.  If I go into Device Manager, there is a bang on the Intel Ethernet Connection I218-LM.  I downloaded a fresh copy of the driver from the HP site and it installs without issue.  This reactivates the NIC on the dock and it will work for a period of time but then it will drop and show a bang on the NIC again. Also, there is a bang on the Intel Mnagement Engine Interface.  When attempting to reinstall the drive it fails and the shows a code 10 error in Device Manager. I am not sure if this is an issue with the dock or the laptop itself.  Any ideas, suggestions, input, or opinions are greatly appreciated.  Thank you all in advance for the time.  Have a fantastic day!  Respectfully, George D.

Hey all,?I just grabbed a new ultra docking station for my X1C6 - and want to know if anyone's managed to get two 4K external monitors running at 60hz? (with lid closed).?I've hooked up two 4K dells to it via mDP, but can only get one of them at 60hz, while the other seems stuck at 30hz. Looking up the docking station here seems to imply that it CAN'T run two 4K displays at 60hz. Am I reading that right?https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd029622#Ultra%20Docking?If so, this is somewhat disappointing - getting a brand new machine and dock only to discover that it can't even run two displays at full refresh and resolution. I wonder if a thunderbolt adapter for one of the monitors might help??Thanks.

Hey Lenovo Team, I have a T580 laptop connected to a Lenovo ThinkPad Ultra Pro docking station. There are two monitors connected via Displayport and a third (which is actually a projector) via HDMI. I read that if you were to use three external monitors on a docking station, that you need to get an Ultra Pro Docking station, but I didn't know if that meant three not including the external display. As of now, I can't get the extended desktop to display on the projector, unless one of the other monitors or the built-in monitor on the laptop gets disabled. On the Intel Display software, I am only given three monitors that I can configure, even though there are FOUR on the pull down list. In the Windows Screen Resolution settings, you can see there are four monitors detected, but the fourth one, you can't do anything with and it says it's not active. The graphics drivers software, BIOS, and Ultra Pro Docking station firmware are all up-to-date. I tried configuring the other monitors' resolutions as requested on the support site for resolutions/refresh rates supported (they are all 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz) and yet I still can't get the fourth monitor to work. I'm not sure if there's a BIOS setting that needs changing or what I need to do to get all the monitors to work or if, in fact, you can't get the three external monitors plus the internal laptop monitor to work.Could someone provide some assistance or suggestions to get the monitors working? That would be appreciated!

According to https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/docksSearch/ the Lenovo T480 20L6 laptop is compatible with the ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station. However the docking station uses an entirely different power supply than the laptop (the old blocky rectangular one vs the newer mini rounded rectangle). The laptop itself fits on the docking station, but does not charge despite the docking station being plugged in. There are two connector slots on the dock that appear to be for the newer power supply, however neither of those provide power either. Is the docking station incorrectly listed as compatible when it really isn't, is there a hardware malfunction, or something else entirely?

Occasional black screens will remain however. I already tried running all Lenovo Software / Firmware updates available for the laptop as well as the docking station - to no avail. Is anyone experiencing similar issues or has anyone figured out a solution yet? Cheers

We have several HP 2013 Ultraslim Docking stations that have audio interference issues when connecting to the dock audio out. If there are not any other external devices connected to the dock, the sound is normal. If an External device is connected to the dock via VGA, USB, or display port, the audio out connection becomes noisy. We have connected the audio out to a multitude of different classroom amps and TVs and the noise issue is still present. If I connect a ground loop isolator in line with the audio output on the dock, the noise is no longer present on any of the devices. Could this be an issue of improper shielding in the analog audio connection? Audio drivers and dock firmware have been updated with no improvement. Does anyone else have this issue? Thanks

I have an HP Elitebook 850 and an HP 2013 Ultraslim Docking Station.  I've been using them for over a year with dual 27" WQHD monitors (2560x1440) through the dual displayport connections on the back of the docking station. I recently upgraded to a 32" BenQ UHD (4K) monitor, and while it works perfect if I connect the DisplayPort cable directly to my laptop, I am having problems getting it to display anything when connected through the docking station. This problem makes it so I can't use the docking station and the new monitor together. Some more details:- Running Windows 7 x64- When monitor & laptop are connected to docking station, Windows recognizes the 4K monitor is there, but won't display anything on it (monitor thinks there is no input). I undock and connect to the laptop directly and it recognizes/displays instantly.- I've tried docking port firmware version 2.27 (what I had originally - SoftPaq#71104) and 2.30 (SoftPaq#75855). Both were downloaded through the "HP SoftPaq Download Manager". And yes, I undocked/unplugged/rebooted/etc in between with no difference in result.- I've tried configuring the monitor with every different resolution from 800x600 all the way to 4K - none of them get anything displayed if it's connected through the docking port (but all work fine if connected directly to the laptop). I'm at my wits end here - How can I get the docking station to work with my new monitor?

Hi  I own a Elitbook Folio 9470m and a 2013 Ultraslim Docking Station. On the Elitebook I run Linux (Mint 18).The Dockingstatioin never showed the BIOS/UEFI output on the Screen. (Screen stays black until OS loads. I found an article saying this is a known problem for some Notebooks and the solution is to update the BIOS. I am already on the newest BIOS-version and the Problem Persists. This is ther article I found: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5450893&docLocale=de_DE&docId=emr_na-c05... but it does not mention the Folio 9470m as a model that suffers this problem)Since I use a Harddrive Password this is annoying, because I have to type the password without corresponding screen output and cannot enter the UEFI while the Laptop is docked.I recently found out that there is an update for the Dockingstations Displayport HUB which I guess could fix my Problem. ( found here: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5275307&swItemId=ob_147496_1&swEnvOid=415... )Sadly this Update is only provided as an EXE file, which I cannot run on Linux (I really don't want to try a Hardware firmwareupdate over WINE).For Bios updates for example there are other ways to perform these under linux, as for example to create a USB stick over which the Update can be done. Is there a Way to update the Firmware of my Dockingstation running Linux? (Other than installing Windows on my Elitebook just to perform the update, whi... Read more

Hi all - I could use some help.  I have my Elitebook 1040 in the 2013 Ultraslim docking station with two LG monitors connected through the Display ports.  It's worked great for the past 2 months. All of the sudden, my screen was going black and then after 3 seconds would turn back on (this happened on both LG monitors). After reading other threads, I went an installed the latest version of software for the docking station as that seemed to be the issue.  Well now neither monitor works when I re-dock the computer. Out of the dock, if I connect one, no problem.   Any recommendations on how I fix the doc?

Hi, my problem is that connecting the headphone to the jack behind the docking station both headphones and PC speakers are audible. I tried a 840 g2 on my docking station, and it works fine. I tried my 840 g3 on another docking station and have the same issue. I think it may be a driver issue, but it is my work PC and i have no administrator privileges. Thank you.

I have an HP EliteBook 745 G3 with Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. I have a Viewsonic VP2770-LED monitor. I have my personal PC and the ELiteBook attached to a VellBox 2 port DispalyPort KVM switch. When the EliteBook is booted with it selected on the KVM it boots and works fine. However, if I subsequently switch the monitor to my home PC and then switch back to the EliteBook, the USB keyboard and mouse swithc OK but the monitor does not. If I use Fn F4 to switch to an external monitor it does not work. If I restart the ELiteBook it does not detect the external monitor and Fn F4 will not switch  either. If I power the EliteBook off and then back on again, every time it detects the external monitor and switches to that.  I have also tried this with a StarTech 2 port USB DisplayPort KVM switch and I have the same issue. Whenever I switch to my desktop PC it works everytime, so the issue lies either in the doscking station or the EliteBook I have have updated the HP Ultraslim Docking Station DisplayPort firmware, the AMD Graphics Driver and the ViewSonic driver to the latest versions but I still have the same issue. Has anyone else seen this issue or doies anyone know of a solution? Keith.

Have new Ultraslim Docking Station 2013 and two VGA-to-Displayport adapters for my two older monitors.  If I don't dock the laptop (Elitebook 745 G3) and plug either of the monitors into the VGA port (without the adapters) directly to the laptop, the monitors both work.  If I plug one of the monitors into the VGA port on the docking station and dock the laptop, the monitors will both work (one at a time since only one VGA port on docking station).  However, if I use either or both of the DisplayPort ports (using the VGA to Displayport adapters) on the docking station they don't work.  Anyone able to provide some guidance?

After laptop goes to sleep in dock, it will not reconnect to an external display through the displayport. Dock must be unlocked and re-locked for computer to re-scan and find the displayport connection. I already installed the docking station firmware from the HP drivers site. How do I make the dock's displayport wake when the laptop does?
