NOVO BUTTON on DOS MODELS

Q: NOVO BUTTON on DOS MODELS

My laptop 310-15ISK 80SM01DXIH is a Dos Model, I have installed Windows 10 on it, why has Lenovo provided NOVO button on Dos Based Models, when there is not an option of installing One Key Recovery on such Models, isn't this button useless for me?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:B51-30 - about NOVO button

Hi alij ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The one key recovery is a complete factory reset of the laptop.
This would delete all data and likewise repartition the harddrive the way it was when first received from out of the box.

The best OS version set for this model and same ones tested and certified by the Lenovo engineering team that originally came with your system (page 28) when received from out of the box.

Hope this helps answer your query.

A:novo button on notebook z50-70

Hi alex_drastico,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the forum!

The Novo button should be located on the left side of your unit between the AC connector and vent slots, it's a small sized hold and not actually a physical button. You will need a pin or something of similar size, then power off your unit and use the pin to select the button.

Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

A:Y50-70 NOVO button not working!!!

Hi prashant_drdvl ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

One Key Recovery OEM partition are installed direcctly from the factory so if you formated all partitions then it is therefore removed  and would make OKR recovery non functional. Similar discussion here for review , clean install and resizing partition would destroy the recovery partition which is needed for novo button system recovery to work.

Only way to restore it is through the same factory that installed it since it is OEM proprietory software.
Otherwise you may try a third party tool to imitate the OKR process similar to this.

Hope this help answer your query.

While working with Lenovo tech support to determine problems I was having with my new U31, we discovered that the NOVO button did not function at all. I tried a large paperclip and a small pen tip, but neither would successfully get the laptop to boot into the requisite screen. As a result, I as waiting for a replacement unit before sending this one back. Has anyone else suffered this defect with a laptop that uses the recessed button on the side? Annoyed

TIA The "Novo" button is accessed through a small hole in the casing on both my Ideapad 500-15ISK, and my 700-15ISK.  However, make sure that you are inserting the end of the paper clip into the correct hole! Scroll to the bottom of this page and click "Documentation" in the "Support" column.  You should be able to download the "User Guide" and/or the "Hardware Maintenance Manual" for your system.  One or other should show you where the Novo button is located. -- from CyberSimian in the UK

Hi, new to forum. i wanted to install win7 pro on to a partition on the ssd but it wouldn't allow me to. i went in to the boot settings to set the dvd drive as 1st boot. this still wouldn't run or install win7. sooooo i removed the ssd, connected it to my pc and formatted it, then installed win7 pro on it. refitted the ssd to the laptop.  now my laptop starts, fan runs and if theres media in dvd drive the indicator works BUT theres no screen splash ie LENOVO, bios or post etc. the screen lights up ie not black. ive attached an external screen but nothing displays on it. i've switched off, removed the battery and ac cord, pressed the power switch etc. attached the ac lead only and pressed the novo key, the mini menu does come up and i can choose the all the options on the screen but once i press enter, nothing else happens, no boot menu, bios setup or normal start up. surely if theres no lenovo stuff on the ssd now then it should operate like a normal laptop? what can be done to make it work normally? anybodys help would be appreciated, thanks.

A:Z585 not working from novo button.

additional to the above... when the ssd is fitted to my pc, it works perfectly ie win 7 starts up and runs just like you would expect it to. but when fitted to the laptop, it doesn't, no post/bios or win7 screen, the screen back lights come on as I explained earlier.

A:Z50-70 - Novo button doesn't work

Hi kizzone ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

While unplugged, try removing the battery and press and hold down the power button for 12 seconds.
Connect the ac charger and press the Novo button (item2 page 69).

Are you planning on doing a full factory reset (to launch within windows) or just going in the BIOS (alternate option FN+ F2)?

As long as the hidden partition is intact and no changes made to the partitioning like resizing , try checking via disk management.

Update us how it goes.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 710-11ISK 80 TX. Just picked up from a repair/replacement of the motherboard. I assume the Novo button may have a short or be stuck? Any ideas?

Yoga 910 131 glass, Windows 10  Bought this computer on Monday. I let all of the Windows updates install (now running anniversary update) and accepted all of the Lenovo updates (about 8). At this point, I figured I'd back the thing up. The manual says to either click the OneKey icon or press the Novo button. Here's where it goes amiss: - Pressing the Novo button while in Windows does nothing.- Pressing the Novo button after shutdown brings up a menu that does not include a backup option. The "recovery" option brings up Windows Recovery and it doesn't see any recovery images. - There is no OneKey launcher I can find either by digging through the Metro selections, program search functions or digging through folders.  So.. is the manual wrong or am I missing something?  Addendum: Tried to start Windows File History. Connected an external drive. Launched Settings. When clicking on "add drive," the Settings app crashes. I haven't reverted to Windows 7 Backup, yet, but that's next if I can't figure out how to image this thing.

Hello guys, I own a Lenovo Yoga 2 11" for two years and I hadn't met a problem with it since then. The last time I used my laptop (3 days ago) I started it with the power button normally and everything worked fine. But today, I tried to start it clicking the power button but it didn't work, tried many times and nothing. Then I clicked the Novo button and it started with the boot menu. The options "Starts Normally", "Boot Menu", "System Recovery" and etc showed up. So, I turned off my laptop and tried to turn it on again with the power button many times, but all of them failed and now it only starts with the Novo button. I would like to know if it is a confuguration problem or its a fisical problem (my power button just gone), or if Lenovo or Microsoft had dropped a update that change it or something else?. Thank you guys.

A:Can i use the Bios novo button for normal start ?

Hi Hadibou ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Power button should work as it should not unless that the machine is currently at sleep or hibernate mode or the button itself is broken . As such , best to call in technical support for repair option.

You can try to unplug the ac charger and press and hold down the power button for 12 seconds until it manually shuts off and leave for 15 minutes . Check any uncommon feel like loose / stiff power power.  Press the power button again to check .

To answer your question, you may also power on the machine using the Novo button and choose option 1 Normal Startup (no changes will be made on the computer) as one of the choice on the Novo Menu.

Choosing System Recovery will present option to One Key Recovery page25 (factory reset with data lost ) either from initial backup (hidden partition) or user backup .

Hope this help answer your query.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L4550-S5976 running under Windows 7. When I start it up (and if I catch it at the right time), the touchpad buttons work fine for a few minutes. After the machine completely boots, the touchpad button problems start - the left button performs as the right button and the right button does nothing.

On a lark, I plugged in a USB mouse and rebooted. When I do that, the mouse works fine AND the touchpad buttons work properly. Carrying around a mouse isn't always convenient so I'd like to have the machine work as expected.

I tried updating the touchpad drivers - that did not fix the problem. I even reinstalled Windows 7 on the machine - that did not fix the problem either.

Any ideas what I could do next to fix this problem?

Thanks, Brian

Most so-called Topseller models are not available anywhere. Why? Online vendors seem to have an abundance of only three P50 models, while one or two of a very few others trickle in sporadically, most not at all. Is this the way Lenovo releases these machines now? It used to be that models announced near the end of a calendar year would be stocked everywhere in great numbers by early spring, often at very good prices. Maybe having so many problems has held them back.
