[Resolved] window in a window (internet explorer

Q: [Resolved] window in a window (internet explorer

I am basically computer illiterate. My darling Hubby removed some downloaded internet stuff from our computer. ever since I cannot respond to e-mails or games that require me to open a window in a window. I think I'm saying that right. I have called all the support systems I can find and shy of paying a bundle or having the puter wiped clean and reloaded I am drained. When you opena program (for example) Pogo.com (my favorite spot)and you log in pick a game you reach a place that says choose a room. If you click on a room you get a large frame and it does nothing. I'm sure this has something to do with the Java but what I don't know. Help !!! I am a little (well not quite) old(very) lady(?) and I really miss my pogo games.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This morning when I loaded Internet Explorer, it had dropped about an inch down the screen which means I can no longer see the bottom taskbar. I minimized it and tried to drag it upwards. Wherever I move it when it is minimized makes no difference when I maximise it again - it returns to the slipped down postion.

What can I do ?????

Hello, I have a brand new dell. Less then 2 days old. Computer is running great, super fast. But i already am running into a small problem. When i close internet explorer after visiting a simple website like yahoo or google it closes fine. But when i close a site that contains a flash game or shockwave game an error message pops up. With the windows report box. It dosn't give any info about the error, just that it should be reported. Any Glue? It's so hard to uninstall IE in XP, and re-install won't work either. Thanks in advance! ~Jordan~

i couldnt think of how to describe it for the title easily and I am about to go home to maybe tomorrow I will work it out.

My Vista box is currently demonstrating curious behaviour. When I open IE7 I select a favorite and it opens a new window with that favorite in it. If I do a search with my default provider in the original window, the search results appear in a new tab in the second window.

The second window does not display this behaviour. It works normally with my standard settings - open favorites in the current tab.

Again, favorites chosen in the first window continue to appear in the second window. Search results too.

Running IE7 in safe mode stops this behaviour but I have not installed any new software and I have removed all my temporary internet files/addon settings etc.

Any ideas would be great. Funny old game eh

I don't know if this has to do with a virus, but it's been happening since last night and it's got me baffled.
Every time I start my machine (Windows 2000) a window (windows explorer) opens after startup. The window shows the folders within c:/dOCUMENTS AND sETTINGS/mY uSER (where my user is my name).
I've checked in START -> Startup but there's nothing that would account for this.
I've ran AdAware, CWShredder, Spybot S&D and a couple of antiviruses, none found anything wrong.
Any ideas about how I can fix this? Any ideas a s to what causes it?

A:[Resolved] Internet Window Opens at Start Up

Go to IE tools/internet options/advanced and make sure the option to automatically check for IE updates is turned off.

Or it might be your antivirus wanting to look for updates Otherwise, there is something else trying to access the internet.

Do an inventory of your programs to check for any likely culprits:

Go to Start > Run msconfig, and see whether there's anything there.

In case of doubt please post back.

It is necessary to determine what's causing this, because in some cases it may even be the sign of a worm or trojan infection.

The reasons mentioned above constitute the most frequent cause of this phenomenon, but for some others, also look at this MS article:

Also, a strange dll. file shows up in MSCONFIG startup programs, if i click for it not to show up on next load up, then a new dll file replaces it... Also, Rundll shows up in task manager. Sometimes twice... with no programs or windows open....

When opening a new IE window it is very very wide - WHY?
Its top bar (with login address) is 1.5 cm wide - WHY?
If , in moving a window, it's edge nears the top edge of the screen, it suddenly becomes full screen - WHY?
If I try to tuck a window partly out of site to one side, it suddenly becomes half-screen - WHY

All these behaviourisms are unwelcome an annoying to me.

is there a way of customising IE to controll all new windows?

It sounds to me like what you're seeing is a feature of the Windows 7 Aero interface, called Snap.

You can disable it-

1. Go to Start -> type Snap into the search box
2. Click Turn Off Automatic Window Arrangement
3. Select Make the Mouse Easier to Use
4. Select Prevent Windows from Being Automatically Arranged when Moved to the Edge of the Screen
5. Click OK

I was online yesterday when I opened a new website from a link - it seemed to be a legit website (just a site on a local village) but, as soon as I opened it, my window kept repeating itself. I had several windows minimised but the one that was maximised just kept repeating itself over and over - 22 times! I couldn't close them. The only way to stop it was to forcibly shut down, which of course led to a whole system check when I re-booted. It was a nightmare as I was in the middle of research for a university asignment and lost all the windows I'd opened.
The same thing has just happened again - I had yahoo open and the inbox window repeated itself over 20 times before I forced the computer to shut down. I tried turning off my wireless broadband first but I still couldn't close the windows. I think the window that repeated yesterday may also have been my inbox but I can't remember for sure.
I'm using Windows XP on an Acer Aspire. I've got Kaspersky internet security 2009 but I find it impossible to navigate as it seems to be designed for someone more IT literate than me! I have basic IT training (powerpoint, word, etc) but have no idea how to tackle something like this. I'm desperate as I am trying to write a university assignment and am too scared to go online and do research in case it crashes again!
I would appreciate any help available please.
Many thanks!

Greetings everyone.

I'm having a dog of a time with IE 6 on a Win2000 machine. It seems that any time a new window should pop open, IE just hangs for a minute or two and never opens the window. This happens whenever I click on a link which opens a new window or when I right-click and select "Open In New Window".

I have tried SpyBot, Adaware, and the MS AntiSpyware. They found a lot of junk which I removed, but the problem just doesn't want to go away.

I have included a HijackThis log, as I can see from searches that it is useful in finding the culprit. However, I can't make heads or tails of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a problem with IE8. My system is Windows XP PRO SP3. My current version of IE8 is: IE8.0.6001.19702.XPSP3_gdr.120411-1615

Problem: IE8 open OK and can access new web sites in the CURRENT, opening window.
When I pull down FILE and select New Window OR select CTRL-N OR CTRL ?T a new windows tries to start, but IE ?hangs? and never finishes opening the new window. The task bar at the bottom on the screen shows the new window and the first opening window. I can right click on the new window icon in the bottom task bar, then click on CLOSE. Some times the new window closes, sometimes not. Also right click on the opening window and select CLOSE ? Sometimes the new window closes, sometimes the opening window closes along with IE8 closure.

What I have done:

1. Started IE8 with run : iexplore ?extoff I have no problem starting a new window. Any of the three ways; down FILE and select New Window OR select CTRL-N OR CTRL ?T. produces a new window. I can open as many new windows as needed.

Important for item #2 below. While in the mode, I went to Tools, Manage Add on?s and disabled all addon?s.

2. Started IE8 normally from desk top icon, with all add on?s disabled. See item #1 above. Same problem, could not open a new window.

(2) When I try to access an education site called NINE (http://www.NINE.org.uk) I always get an unobtainable screen first and always succeed on refreshing. Also, I can not open a secure Conference window to which I should have access (I've checked and my access level is correct).

Are these two items related?

A:Internet Explorer window really small

Why does it do that?
Judging by the URL in the Address bar, because the site is doing User-Agent sniffing and misinterpreting your UAS as being a request from a Tablet device, e.g. one which you would not want to see the same presentation on that it might give to a Desktop device
for a widescreen monitor.
Does the site have a FAQ?  Help page?  Ask there?
Meanwhile you could see if it likes the User-Agent string presented for Compatibility View any better--IE7 in Quirks mode.  (Alt-x b).   Or use the Developer Tools, Emulation tab (F12, Ctrl-8) to experiment with other combinations of User-Agent
and Document mode.  If you find a better "emulation" you will have to apply it each time you need it but then you could try reporting the problem
here and hope that either the site would be updated to modern web standards or that Microsoft would provide a more usable override for you (via IECompatData.xml which might already
be there if you don't have Use Microsoft's list checked in Compatibility View Settings).

Okay, sorry for the less than descriptive title, just couldn't say it in one line.

From time to time this "issue" bothers me, I do a 3 minute search, and give up till the next time it happens. This time I'm going to find an answer.

I usually have multiple IE windows open, I don't use tabs. Whenever I'm creating a web page or Flash animation I often do a "Preview in browser" thing. When I do, it brings up the last opened IE window before it loads the new one, giving me two IE windows up on screen. After closing the preview window I always have to minimize the other window - again. It's a very annoying behavior. I have the "Reuse window for launching" unchecked in Internet Optioins. I can't find any settings that might cause this behavior. It seems to happen on machines with XP and IE7 as well as XP and IE6.

In other words, if I have 5 IE windows open and minimized, and click "Preview in browser" in another application, not only does the new 6th window come up but the minimized 5th window pops up from the task bar either over or under the new 6th window.

Does anyone have any idea if this is something that can be addressed somehow? I'd appreciate any suggestions...

HP Pavilion a6742p
Windows Vista Home Premium x64, SP2
Pentium Dual E5300

This is a friend's computer that isn't opening Internet Explorer 9. When you double click it, it opens in the background and is listed in Task Manager. However no window opens.

Running AVG and Malwarebytes turned up 0 infections for both.

Uninstalling IE9 and rolling back to IE8 had the same problem, same for reinstalling IE9. Reset IE defaults, no result.

I installed Firefox and Chrome on the machine, and they were opening fine at first, now they take about 2 minutes each to open. Safari, which was already installed, opens fine.

Internet Explorer without Addons has the same effect and doesn't open, but still runs in the background, and can be killed in Task Manager.

I know there is a virus which runs IE in the background and plays audio ads periodically, but this isn't that because IE doesn't run when I don't want it to run, it just simply wont open a window.

Hello, I am new to this so I'll just tell you my problem first by giving you my situation. Here it is:

I connect to the Internet and go to yahoo to check my email. Everything was perfectly fine. I looked at my email and I was sent a Birthday card from my grandmother. It was one of those video cards. I opened the email and it pulled up the card.

Now here is my problem. When I opened the card, it exited out of the main window and opened the sub window. In the sub window I can't go back to check the rest of my emails, so I have to go back to yahoo and log in again and again to check the rest of my mail. What has happened in the past was, the program would open the card in the sub window while leaving the main window open. So that when I was finished with the card I could exit out of the sub window and continue with the rest of my mail.

I thought that there could only be two possible reasons for this problem.

1) The way the site works was changed from what it origionally was.
2) My Internet Options were messed up some how.

So I went seven other sites that also used the (main to sub) method and they also do the same thing as yahoo. So It has to be my computer, but I've tried everything I know to do. Please help me! Thanks in advance.

Basically what the title says. And just so you know I'm kinda a BIGGG newbie at all this, so haha pleasee be patient when/if I start asking dumb questions.

Recently, I bought a laptop...about 2-3 months ago. And sometimes, when I exit out the internet explorer window the window then keeps popping up 20+ times. I keep closing the group on the taskbar until it finally says not responding, so I restart IE then it starts running normally again.

I HOPE this is not a virus, as it is only pretty new. Also I ran a scan on ESET Antivirus (NOD32), spybot search & destroy and ad-aware. When I tried to delete/fix all the spyware on ad-aware it pops up with a prompt box, when I click ok ad-aware just exits.

Hi all,
I've been wondering about this for the longest time. Every once in a while, a particular internet explorer page somehow takes priority and when I open other windows, this one stays on top. I have to actually reduce that window to see the others. What makes a particular page have priority? How do you adjust this? Thanks for any advice

Hello, I just created an account for this purpose. I'm getting ie pop-ups when no other window is opened. I can't seem to find the problem. My virus scan found and deleted some files, but the issue continues. I have a hijackthis log that (granted, I just found out about this program about 5 minutes ago). I hope this means somthing to someone.
http://c5.zedo.com/jsc/c5/ff2.html?n...5;d=15;w=1;h=1 is one of the pop-ups, as dictated by my internet history.
Also, my computer has crashed with an error saying that something system32\lsass.exe failed and I'm given a 60 second timer before my laptops shuts down. Error code -1073741819, by NT AUTHOR\SYSTEM
Please help!

This is a new problem that has recently begun on my computer. When I open a new Internet Explorer window either directly (by clicking on IE desktop icon) or by clicking on a link in a previous window, the new window opens very small (about a 1 inch square). I then must maximize it in order to see any content. It used to open close to full screen size. I can't figure out why this happened or how to change it back. Can anyone help?

A:Internet Explorer Window size

go to google and search for IEMaximizer, great little program, automatically opens to full screen(set it in options) as soon as you click on any IE icon

For about the past week my computer has had problems with the internet explorer. If you click a link in an explorer window and a new window opens(a new seperate window) and then you finish with that window and close it, both windows will close and an error will appear and explorer will upload a error message to microsoft. It will not do this if you open the new window on a new tab. Just if there is a new window opened. If you concurrently open links for example of lets say 5 windows, and you close any of those, then they all close and an error message occurs.

it seems as though all the windows have created a "link" together and when u affect one, you affect them all. I am hoping this isnt some form of virus, but i am guessing it is.

any help?
