I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

According to https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/docksSearch/ the Lenovo T480 20L6 laptop is compatible with the ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station. However the docking station uses an entirely different power supply than the laptop (the old blocky rectangular one vs the newer mini rounded rectangle). The laptop itself fits on the docking station, but does not charge despite the docking station being plugged in. There are two connector slots on the dock that appear to be for the newer power supply, however neither of those provide power either. Is the docking station incorrectly listed as compatible when it really isn't, is there a hardware malfunction, or something else entirely?

Hi, I just bought AC Outlet Portable Charger RAVPower 27000mAh 85W (100W Max). The AC adapter of my ThinkPad T480 is rated at 65W max. So I think the power bank should be capable to charge my laptop.  I tested it to charge my Lenovo ThinkPad T480. The output is unstable. My laptop LCD keeps flickering because the battery keeps switching between charged and discharged. I tried to charge another laptop like ASUS A series and a PC monitor. And it works fine. Charging my Lenovo from house AC power sockets also works like normal. Could anyone give me advice on what is the problem with Lenovo? Any particular setting on my windows 10 or Lenovo BIOS  that I need to change? You could see my recording here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mPBF4hO1tta-9SXwZEVSe3wK7jBzSxIR/view?usp=sharingAlso, the picture of my laptop AC adapter is here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EFRpZJR36EmD4se92NHeIb8u_bFMkBeJ/view?usp=sharing Any help is appreciated.Thank you

I have a Lenovo T480 Laptop that I use for work. I do testing in vehicles sometimes and need to charge my laptop when I'm in there. The problem is that when I plug my laptop into an outlet(AC 110V 400W MAX) in a truck my laptop will begin charging for a moment, and then stop, and then start, and then stop, and eventually my computer will crash and restart itself. I have tried using a 140W Power Converter(Schumacher XI14) plugged into cigarette lighter but still the issue persists. When I plug it into a normal outlet everything works fine. I have tried on 3 different vehicles so I know it isn't specific to one. Is there a special charger that I need to use in situations like this? Has anyone else ran into any similar issues? Any help would be appreicated. Thanks!

Hi jmyestre, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

One of these would do it:
https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories-and-monitors/top-tech/65W-USB-C-DC-Travel-Adapter/p/40AK006...

It's not uncommon see problems with inverters and power supplies. You are stepping up from 12V DC to 110V AC then back down to 20V DC. This travel adapter goes direct from 12V DC to 20V DC.

Hope this helps!

Hi All,  My '21 days old' ThinkPad T480 - Top of the line machine warms up at the top-left section of the keyboard, just above the vents!   I'm not sure what needs to be done. I raised a complain with the Lenovo Support and the technician who paid a visit today, apparently was ready to replace the motherboard, because he thought that I reported a heating issue with my machine. But that wasn't the case. I'm surprised though that they were ready to replace my machine with a new mother board, without knowing the exact issue.  Any ways, so all he did was replace the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, I was okay with that, as I read in many forums that replacing the thermal paste helped reduce the heating issues.  Its only now that I'm starting to realize, that I don't think its more of a heating issue, but a SERIOUS design flaw in T480 machines.  The top-left edge portion of the keyboard that which is just above the vents, seems to start warming up within 30 mins of NORMAL usage. I don't see the fan doing its job either, may be its suppose to speed up at very high temps, irrespective, what I think is the problem is that the fan case that is connected to the vents, for some reason the casing touches the vents plastic body and that's transferring the warmness up to the place where ones left palm would naturally rest while typing.    It warms up to the extent that I can feel its not comfortable for me to ... The charger supplied with my Lenovo G700 recently stopped working completely (it was making a weird bleeping sound when plugged in as well), so I purchased another genuine Lenovo charger identical to the first. However, my laptop doesn't recognise that this is an authentic Lenovo product and keeps telling me that I'm using an 'unauthorised battery', so my laptop can only be plugged in, and not charging. So far I've been unable to find a suitable fix on google. I'm reluctant to buy another charger as they are so expensive, in case I encounter the same problem again.  Any suggesions/experiences would be very helpful! Thank you

Yesterday, I accidently droped just little water on the keyboard. It remained working for a while before the whole keyboard froze and stopped working at all, the strange thing was the beeping that the laptop keeps doing on one second interval, it does not stop beeping unless you press the shut down. The strange thing is that the laptop all working except the keyboard, and this beeping every second that never stops. It is like a blood rate device voice that you hear at the ICU if you are sitting beside a patient. My question is there a way to avoid replacing the keyboard as it seems it is a keyboard issue if I am not wrong? Or should I try to open it and dry it in some way then connect it again and see if this beeps goes and if the keyboard returns to life again? Thank you for the help.

And all of a sudden I hear a spark and then my laptop shut down unexpectedly, and I immediately unplugged it and tried turning it on but it wouldn't turn on for a few minutes. Afterwards everything was normal, but as I plugged the charger back in the light indicator on the side of my laptop wont lit up anymore. So I'm not sure if it's my laptop or the charger is broken. Hey everyone, my Lenovo G50 laptop ( I bought it in store from bestbuy January of last year). Recently had a hardware failure and it seems to be directly linked to my attempt of charging my 3DS via PS3 controller charger by powering it through my laptop usb.  I wanted to charge my 3DS but didn't have my original charger so I saw that you can charge it with a PS3 controller charger. That worked. I had my laptop off the battery for the night. The battery died overnight the next morning it wouldnt turn on. I tried leaving it putting on the charger for about 10-15 mins and it still would not turn on. I made sure my plug was working and all of that. A friend of mine recently sent me a lenovo charger to see if my charger died. It still did not work.  So this is a warning that although not 100% sure, DO NOT insert a PS3 Controller Charger into a Lenovo G50. I'm not sure if the same would happen on other models.

A:Laptop charger plugged in but not charging

Esmmy, look in the hole on your laptop where the power adapter would plug in and you'll see the silver power pin. Using a push button pen, put it on the end of the power pin and see if you can move the pin at all. Any movement on that pin means it's broken and the DC Jack needs to be replaced. Most DC Jacks are soldered to the motherboard and need to be repaired by someone experienced in desoldering and soldering.

If the DC Jack is broken, the power adapter won't charge your battery since it's not making a solid connection inside. Moving it around too much while plugged in could short something, cause further damage or even a fire.. Best to have it repaired by an experienced technician.

Hi ABHAYHENDRE,
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Test with another adapter and battery and check.
Force the BIOS flash if required - http://dell.to/2hnhjs4
If the adapter is not detected, test another adapter. If the adapter fits in loose, replace the dc port - http://bit.ly/2hxR3OO - this is the part you need.
If nothing works, then I would suspect a motherboard fault.
You could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
My personal suggestion is that, if the motherboard is being replaced, then you could invest your money on a new machine than to repair this system. However, that is your discretion.

A:Recommended power adapter/charger for Lenovo Thinkpad T470

I would buy the USB-C, thinking if or when I replace the laptop, the USB-C charger is more likely to work as a spare.  As far as wattage, the 45W will be lighter, but 65W may charge some devices faster and is more likely to be compatible with any replacement.  (I am not suggesting that you are going to replace the laptop soon, but things happen and situations change.)

Hi All,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P50T-A-10U laptop and have replaced the internal battery and the charger with a brand new official Toshiba charger. The laptop needs 19V 6.3a and when plugged in with Windows XP, 7 and 10 all of which I have tried it just states plugged in and charging but the battery never goes up. I have replaced the internal battery with a new one and it was at 20% when I put it on and stated plugged in and charging but the animation on the taskbar for the battery only moves for a short time then stops. It too is now not charging and I now have 2 useless batteries.
I have attempted to update the BIOS from 1.10 which it is on to 1.90 but I cannot do this within any operating system or DOS as it always states Warning!! The System Power isn't safe for BIOS update. Please check AC and Battery are plugged in!!
The laptop clearly works from mains as it will do when I remove the battery. When I have got the battery to charge it works also without the charger but only for a short time obviously as it just isn't charging.
I want to force a BIOS update but the option does not appear to be available in AFLASH3.exe which is the official program on the CD when you create one after downloading the BIOS. I have tried everything and above error always appears.
I need to update the BIOS to rule it out as I have tried everything else.

When I plug the charger in the message on the battery icon on the bottom toolbar reads as "73%, plugged in, not charging". Obviously the laptop is recognising the charger (i.e "plugged in") but it is not allowing the battery to charge.
I have installed every update on the computer and I have recently searched for any outstanding BIOS updates. The system seems to suggest there is a BIOS update to be installed yet when I try to install it the system says that it cannot detect a charger, and won't complete the update, or it won't complete the update without a charger plugged in in the first place. It's a no-win situation. The computer and charger are only 14 months old so this is very unsatisfactory. When I remove the battery the computer operates on AC power only, so again the charger is working, it simply won't charge the battery and therefore once the battery runs down to 0, which it will eventually, I will be limited to using AC power only.
If I restart the laptop with the charger plugged in it diverts me to a warning page saying that the charger is not recognised and I am given the option to go to the BIOS setup, go to diagnostics or to continue. If I choose "continue" it simply returns me to this warning page every time so the only way to power up the laptop is to do so with the AC charger out, and to then plug it in once the system has started so that the battery doesn't drain completely.
Please help.

A:Inspiron 15 5559 charger not charging battery (manufacturers charger being used)

An unrecognized AC adapter will not charge the battery.
First try a new OEM Dell adapter.  If that's also not recognized, replace the DC power jack:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
If neither the new adapter nor the DC jack solves the problem, you've got a bad charge circuit - replace the mainboard.
