X230i - can't find or activate Bluetooth

Q: X230i - can't find or activate Bluetooth

Hello, I have looked at previous threads on Bluetooth but I am not any further forward. Bluetooth does not show in Device Manager and there is no LED showing. When I press Fn- F5 I get only two choices: Airplane mode on-off, and 802.11 Wireless radio on-off. Clicking off just turns off the wireless and loses wifi. No evidence of Bluetooth yet I believe this laptop shipped with Bluetooth 3 installed. If so how do I make it appear please? Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In addition, wireless can not FN + F8 turn -but that is rather unimportant, it just amazes me.

Recently I received a new set of wireless, bluetooth headphones as a Father's day gift. I have successfully paired the headphones to my smartphone and my laptop, Acer Aspire running Windows 8.1. I have no problems using the phones with the smartphone, but the laptop is my problem. The "Control Panel" under "Sound" shows the phones, but they are designated as "Disconnected". Nothing I do can activate the device, and no help from MS and their literature shows me nothing beyond what I've already done. Under "Devices and Printers", the phones are shown as recognized but still they don't work. I don't know if I just have not found the correct toggle to turn on the phones or if it's something else. I'd hate to return the headphones since they were a gift from the "kids", but if these cannot be useful, I have no choice. Please help!!!!

Hi there, First time poster here , hope y'all are having a nice festive season ^^ I'm currently using the Lenovo Ideapad Z500 (Model Number 20202) which I bought over a year ago (so expired warranty). When I bought it, I was told that it would come with a NVIDIAŽ GeForceŽ GT 635M 1-2GB graphics card (or something similar) along with Intel 4000HD integrated graphics. However, I can see no trace of the card in the system apart from in the manuals provided. In Device Manager, only Intel 4000HD is present and there are no errors (apart from in the Bluetooth Audio). Dxdiag and programs like Speccy say I've only got that as well. I can't run the Nvidia compatibility scanner as it's not compatible with Win8 or 8.1 and attempting to install a Lenovo specific Nvidia driver comes up with an error saying I have no compatible hardware. I've tried going into the insydeH20 BIOS thingy but I have no idea how to get into the advanced settings to check display settings - I can't find the "Switchable Graphics" option either. Everything points to it not existing but Lenovo insists it's in there and working (which it clearly isn't as I can't even access the Nvidia control panel). Does anyone have any ideas as to how to check if it's actually present (without opening it up) and how to switch it to the Nvidia card if it is indeed in there somewhere? Many thanks!

A:Can't activate/find Nvidia graphics card

Download, install and Run CPU HWMonitor, this utility will show you  the graphics adapter and its parameters.

You can also download and install GPU-z, it will show you all the GPUs which you currently have on your system.

Since it is switchable graphics, the adapter will not be displayed in dxdiag, however, it should be displayed under -

Pretty new to the forum, so I apologize if something like this has been brought up before. I'm having some strange issues with my laptop.  When I first start the thing up, everything works fine and dandy... but whenever I put it into sleep or hibernation mode, that's when things start to go wrong.  For example, that on-screen display that shows up when you increase or decrease the volume will be there when I first turn it on, but will never show up again after resuming from sleep/hibernation.  My USB Bluetooth dongle will also work just fine, until I put the computer to sleep/hibernation... once I resume, it just won't work anymore (it'll detect things, but will pretty much instantly disconnect from them a few seconds later).  My wifi connection will also take a hit when I resume from sleep/hibernation, as it seems to take it a good minute or two for the computer to realize it's finally there before I can continue using it again.  There are other examples of this (the built-in webcam flat-out refusing to work after resuming from sleep/hibernation, sometimes the digital pen won't work, the monitor won't auto-rotate when I switch the laptop into tablet mode, etc.), but these are my most-common issues. I'm not sure how to describe this problem exactly, other than the computer just seems to "Forget" it can do certain things when it wakes up.   Has anyone else encountered an issue like this?  Sure, I suppose I can solve this b... I picked up a "recycled" X230i and decided get it running today.  First I installed Windows 10, (new HDD, new ram, new battery, and AC adapter) and it went pretty smooth, save one thing... no wireless adapter? **bleep**? The small green indicator is lit green as though it's working, and the switch is on, but that only seems to affect the bluetooth adapter.  I tried fn-f5 for radios and it switches it to airplane mode and back.  So I got frustrated with this angle and decided to install Win 7.  I am having the same issue, no wireless adapter driver, sigh... I do as much googling as I can stand and I can't stands no more.  If anyone could help me with this, that would be great.

Good day and welcome to the community.Looking at pg12 of the X230T user guide, there appear to be models with, and without, a backlit keyboard: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/x230t_x230it_ug_en.pdf

Does your spacebar have this icon on it:

If not, then you don't have a backlit keyboard. If it does have the icon, the pressing Fn and tapping the spacebar should toggle the backlight.

Hpe this helps.Regards.

Hi, could anyone explain the battery status indication on the battery LED located on the top cover? Green light blinks in the sequence:3 short1 long1 shortthen goes off and battery does not charge My adapter sometimes works well and sometimes not with this indication and I need to know where the problem is. I travel a lot and connect to various voltages incl. using the 12V DC cigarette lighter adapter. I realized that this probably happens with a bad voltage on the primary side of it (voltage or current capacity not sufficient?). This indication is not described in https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd025118. I recon that the post https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X220-won-t-start-up-blinking-battery-light/td... refers to the same indication.

Hi there,

So quick background - I have an Asus laptop series K53S that one day decided not to turn on or charge. Long story short went for the cheap repair and got the initial problem fixed but at the expense of some new ones.
One of which I just discovered today which makes me wonder what else there is

Today I wanted to connect to our bluetooth speaker with my laptop. Now before my original problem I never had any issues doing this. I know it has bluetooth capability however I can no longer find it in the start menu search.

I had a look in the system information and searched for bluetooth and sure enough the system file is there. It seems the laptop can't locate it or something? I'm concerned that the adapter may be damaged?

Is there a way I can test this? I've already downloaded and run the intel bluetooth file from the asus website for my laptop model however it doesn't seem to have done anything.

I seriously think I should've just kept that money from the initial repair and put it towards a new laptop - as much as I love this one it seems to have a few issues now

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hello! Recently i purchased a bluetooth speaker, so I wanted to connect it to my Lenovo P50. According to specifications, Lenovo P50 comes with some integrated Bluetooth 4.1 or 4.2. I installed the recommended drivers from Lenovo website but didn't worked. Then i went to Intel website and found the exact model of the hardware and downloaded their driver, but again there is no Bluetooth device available in either "devices" or "device manager" of windows 10 Anniversary Edition with all updates. I've also tried Speccy to inspect the hardware, but again no mention of bluetooth whatsoever. Also, I've checked windows Services and made sure that all Bluetooth related services are running. Do you have any suggestion on what else can I do? Is there any chance that bluetooth is disabled in bios? btw, i have some bios related problem too, so I cannot access the bios settings (they are all greyed out due to some security features i enabled and now i am locked out). thanks
