is old hd/os compatible with identical replacement laptop

Q: is old hd/os compatible with identical replacement laptop

I have a dell laptop latitude d530 w/win 7 pro 32 bit. If I buy a used refurbed identical item, can I remove my existing hd and insert it into the new replacement laptop and boot and function normally? I assume an identical bios. Will there be a signature collision or some type of id mismatch that will prevent this from working properly?

Preferred Solution: is old hd/os compatible with identical replacement laptop

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

For an IDENTICAL product, you should be fine. I don't see any probs with that.

Did HP send us the wrong USB recovery install on this stick, marked "A5U99AV" ?  My previous post was sooo long winded, I don't blame you all if you havn't the patience to read it all. Let me distill the subject to a few Questions/Talking Points here: I suspect the USB recovery stick I purchased is not for my computer. OR...Do I need to create the recovery partition on the "replacement" HD, and also an unnamed 100mb partition manually in order for this to work?   This P7-1107c boots from Legacy BIOS, the way we got it.   I loaded Linux Mint to check everything out, but I expect to wipe it out in the recovery process.  On BIOS Setup, the HD only shows up as a Legacy choice on the boot order menu. BUT... One of the TWO sets of instructions YOU (HP) sent me directs me to choose the "UEFI-USB/DVD" boot choice, which is NOT available! I am wondering if it is possible to MANUALY EXTRACT the required files and load them onto a bootable set of two DVDs, (ISO?) or UEFI?  I "can" select the DVD drive under the Boot Order menu for UEFI or Legacy Bios boot, though the origional configuration is Legacy. OR... How do I return the USB stick and get my money back if someone doesn't help me out here?  I am being helpful and reasonable (up to a certain point?!)  See my previous post under "holmziep" and I am sorry it is sooo long.  I am new to this begging for help thing.  We want our Win7!  We want our H... (Just posting this here so people in the future can find it.) I replaced my motherboard and just wanted to leave this here for future reference to some poor soul who has to do the same.
If you replace the motherboard on your Dell Studio XPS 8000, (service tag 3L8DHK1) and you need a new motherboard you can use an INTEL DQ57TM, it's compatible and I did a successful transplant. Your processor is an INTEL Core-i5 750 CPU 2.67GHZ it uses a SOCKET LGA1156. It uses DDR3 memory.
Once you take out your old motherboard and disconnect all those usb and audio wires and the power button wires. To hook up your USB front jacks, audio jacks etc.... here's which blocks go where:
Wires from the audio jacks and usb ports go into these colored block connectors, and those connectors get plugged into those little rows of pins/jumpers called Internal Headers. Every motherboard manual tells you about them. Grab the manual for your new motherboard and it'll tell you where your audio1, usb1, usb2, usb3, usb4 Header connectors are they look like 2 rows and 5 collumns of short little pins. (They almost always have 1 or 2 pins missing on purpose.)
the wires leading to a YELLOW BLOCK gets plugged into the audio1 header on your new motherboard, it's for audio jacks on top of the computer
wires with the WHITE BLOCK gets plugged into the usb3 headers on your motherboard (they are for the usb jacks on the very top of the computer tower)
wires with the GREEN BLOCK gets plugged into ... Read more

I bought a replacement battery for my Sony VAIO and whenI install it I get an obnoxious "Battery not compatible with...." window that opens and won't go away. Contacted the battery company and they gave me several things to do neither of which works. Anyone have a clue how to work around this with a VAIO running Windows XP? Theres got to be something I can turn off/unload to get around it. Trying to get around the $199 cost of an actual Sony battery. I see many battery manufacturers offering replacements for this model VGN-SZ120P. Certainly they can't all be bad..?

A:Replacement battery not compatible...?

SOLVED: For the record and future searches.... there is a SONY file running at startup called ISBMgr.exe. Apparently its only function is to monitor the battery and make sure you spent $200 on one of theirs. When you haven't it pops in and tells you. Once it was disabled through msconfig the battery works and charges just fine. I do see online that results of doing this vary on the newer Sony laptops. The battery will work but not charge. On older units such as mine, 2 year old VGN-SZ120p running XP, the fix works fine. I won't get into the should they should they not do that argument....

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me how to connect two identical printers (Brother MFC-J6510DW), in separate offices, to a single laptop that moves between the two offices, so that the laptop user gets full use of all the printer facilities (print and scan) wherever he is?

At the moment it seems that full functionality is available with only one printer. Something about IP addresses, maybe?

A:Two offices, two identical printers, one laptop.

Does the two offices share some kind of network?

The printers you talk about do have the capability to connect to both wireless and cable networks and work as printers for all devices connected to that network ("network printers" is the term), how to do so should be explained in their manual.

I received my 2 Samsung BX2431 LED monitors today, hooked them up, installed drivers. And now after wasting an hour on finding out that I had to do scaling on my card in the AMD Vision control center to get rid of the black bands, I still am left with the problem that one monitor is whiter than the other. I had two different white windows open to compare on my second monitor has a yellow tint to it. Far enough to be bothersome. From what I can tell, my first monitor is fine as is.

All of the settings are exactly the same for both of the monitors. I switched the cables on each to see if that made any difference, and I even changed which DVI port I was using for them. It seems that one just is insistent upon being yellow.

Is there any way that I can fix this issue? I don't have very much knowledge in dabbling with the colors of monitors. It's not as simple as just turning the yellow down. Or is this a permanent issue that cannot be resolved?

Thank you

A:Identical Monitors, not identical colors

Unfortunately, there can be variations in colours even with identical models.

There are three things you can try:

Type 'color' in the search bar to open color management:

Ensure that either both the monitors are using the same .icm profile, or that neither are.

Adjust more settings on the monitors. ie the colours, brightness, contrast - make sure they are both using the same modes etc
Use the ATI control panels colour controls for the monitor.

I'm on a tight schedule trying to fix my dad's computer before I head to Texas on Saturday. Basically I need to know what motherboard I can use to replace his faulty one with.

The PC is this: HP P6210f

with this motherboard (failed after ~1.5 years): M2N78-LA

I would love to be able to just order a motherboard and use all the same components/case/psu... and while I'm able to change out the mobo, I have been "out of the tech game" for a while and am not confident in quickly assessing a suitable alternative. The I/O plate on the case is removable.. someone else asked me about that before.

Please help!

Edit: So far, nothing I find on Newegg will work due to the ram being DDR2 800 - everything they have that is AM3 and microATX is DDR3 :{

Edit #2: Also, I should say the goal is to do this as cheaply and quickly as possible. My dad does nothing on his computer that is intensive, whatsoever.

Edit #3: Would this work???
This Mobo:
Plus this Ram:
That would run me $125 with next day shipping..

A:Need help selecting a compatible replacement mobo

I would try looking on eBay for an exact replacement.

First, when you swap motherboards to a different chipset it rarely ever boots. So you will need to reinstall the copy of Windows - the recovery discs or partition will no longer work either.

Secondly be aware that once you change the motherboard this will no longer be an HP and as such you are not allowed to use the Windows license that the system shipped with, so you'll be required to buy a new copy of Windows.

BIOSTAR boards aren't the best.

Hello, I am trying to replace the LCD screen for my friend's laptop. Her laptop is the Lenovo T61 14.1" with the following LCD panel: WXGA+ 1440x900 widescreen. She accidently cracked the LCD (but at least not the outside cover). I am trying to see if I can get a panel equivalent to that and am wondering if it is possible to substitute it for similar panels. The LCD bezel/cover does not come with a camera but with a LED to shine light on the keyboard if that is at all useful in determining compatibility. The subsitute panel I was looking at is:Samsung 14.1" WXGA+ 1440x900 Matte LCD Display PanelPart Number: LTN141BT06-002Alternate PN's: N141C3-L07, 486272-001-LCD, 483201-001-LCD, 623156-001, LTN141AT13-101, N141C3-L07-CD, LTN141AT13-001, LTN141BT06-002-CD, LTN141BT06-002-LOT5, LTN141BT06-002-LOT10  The one that appears to be compatible with the T61 is P/N LTN141WD-L05 Looking at both of these panels, they appear to be built similarly so I'm not sure if it is possible to try the subsitute panel and hope that would work. Or are Lenovo laptops picky with certain LCD panels so I have to buy a specific one? Mostly doing this to cut down on price so it can be as affordable as possible for my friend. Thanks for your help!

My niece hasn't had wifi on this HP Pavilion 15-n034ca Notebook Running windows 10 for quite some time. I told her I would look at it and see what's up. What a job this has been. Almost every post points to the Ralink RT3290 card and that it is a piece of junk and HP doesn't seem to want to help it's customers when it's out of warranty. I hoped I could rely on some of you good people who know their stuff to help me out. The canadian price for this adapter on amazon.ca is over $200. which is way out of whack. Hi All,

I have had a Brother MFC-J6510DW wireless multifunction printer/scanner/copier/fax at home for some time. I can send print jobs and control the scanner from the computer, and I can use the function buttons on the control panel of the machine to scan directly to my computer.

It suits me so well that today I bought an identical one for my office. I deleted the old drivers from my laptop and deleted the connections to the older home printer, assuming that it would be better to use the later drivers with the newer machine. I then set up the office machine using the new disks that came with it. All went well.

Now I find that the office machine works properly, and I can print and scan, controlling it either from the Brother software on the laptop or from the control panel of the printer, as before.

Then I came home, and I find that I can also add the home printer to the list of printers on the laptop. However, I cannot use the scanner. If I try to control the scanner from the PC software it complains that it cannot connect, because it is looking for the office machine. If I press the "scan" button on the machine's front panel it says "check connection", presumably because it cannot get the computer to speak to it.

How do I configure my computer to use two identical wireless printers in two different locations?

My fiancee and I currently have the Dell Inspiron 17R SE laptop with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230, and it has worked for a few months now up until the Monday of last week. While on the internet, my fiancee was noticing her wifi speed slowed down to a crawl. She performed speed tests to find out that the speed was not as high as it used to be. She updated drivers for the computer, as well as removed any clutter that would cause the wifi slowdown.
When we tried many options, they did not give us the results that we were looking for. Finally, after some process of elimination, we concluded that our wifi card needed a replacement. I don't want to get any old card to use and then find out that it doesn't fit or is not compatible with Windows 10. I have been taking my time to research what could be compatible to improve my laptop computer, but I have been coming up short.

What I would like to know is what wifi cards are compatible with our Dell computer so that we can get this replaced as soon as possible without having to pay out the nose for unneeded computer repair?

Hey all, I have been stirring up a storm in my room the past couple of days trying to figure this one out.

I picked up these 2 babies online and they work great....individually. basically, i have developed an application and need to (eventually )setup 8 thermal receipt printers that run off of one laptop, and are each uniquely identifiable and are triggered by a user device.

For example, user device 1 triggers printer 1, user device 2 triggers printer 2 etc etc

So i connect the printers by ethernet to a router and my laptop connects to the router via wifi. It detects both but the printers have a problem working together. I have set a static IP, but when trying to configure through the provided driver software the second printer over-rides the computers IP address in its setup application, and then creates one out of thin air.

I'm lost, hungry and tired....it's been 2 long days....help a brother out will ya

If you can't think of any ideas, please provide any alternate suggestions. Most importantly i only want one laptop computer.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

A:Moving E6430 Win 7 Hard Drive to another identical laptop. Problems?

You'll want to make sure that whatever replacement you purchase is licensed for the same version of Windows you're currently running, including the edition (Home Premium, Pro, etc).  OEM licenses are explicitly NOT transferable to other systems the way licenses purchased at retail (separate from a PC) are, and when you move your drive to another PC, there's a decent chance Windows will detect that several components have changed (based on MAC address, motherboard unique ID, etc) and fall out of activation. If that happens, you'll need to supply a different product key, hence the need for your new system to have its own, which should then activate despite the fact that you've got a different hard drive installed.
If you upgraded from an OEM Windows 7 license to Windows 10, then once again you'll want to make sure that the license on the PC you're buying also had ITS license upgraded to Windows 10, otherwise you'll have the same problem I mentioned above -- and Microsoft isn't allowing free upgrades to Win10 anymore, so just having a Windows 7 license on the new PC won't be enough to reactivate your Win10 installation if that's what you have.
In terms of swapping models, a change that small shouldn't be a problem -- worst case you may need to install a few different drivers, e.g. the video card.  However, I'm not sure about this.  It's certainly the case that just dropping a hard drive from one system into a... Read more

I was wondering with the specs if everything was winXP compatible

A:New laptop- is it XP compatible?

XP is compatible with anything that runs Vista. Vista is a lot more demanding, the part that wouldn't be compatible is the drivers. I have a toshiba laptop that came with Vista, and I do want XP on it, but my problem, ther is no driver on XP for the wireless card. So I either give up the wireless card, figure out how to make a driver for it (probably will never happen), or hope they eventually come up with one. The only reason that my driver wouldn't work is that the wireless card is se up differently then most I think so there isn't a driver for it except through Toshiba and they don't support XP for this laptop since I last checked, not too long ago.

The best way to check this is to go to the companies support site and see if the drivers for everything work with XP.

I did just check the website and it doesn't seem like they support XP either, so it can be a hit or miss then. You can try setting up XP as a dual boot (like I did) to test it. You can also call them or write to them and ask them, they may have a better answer than I do. I never used an Asus product before so I don't know too much about them.

XP Pro will be easier than XP 64 since a 64 bit OS has less drivers avalibale (just not as commonly used yet).

I have an: Aspire 5935G-663G32Bn
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6600 [2.2GHz, 800MHz FSB]

Details of the RAM:

Technology: DDR3 SDRAM
Form Factor: SO DIMM 204-pin

I need to replace my broken ram stick with a new one.
I want it to be 2GB
I need it to be compatible.

Iv looked all over the internet and i cant find any prices on the ram sticks...

I have been to kingston and they are extreamly expensive... £100 with P&P
I have been to Hynix [The actual producer of the exact ram stick that is broken] and i cant find prices there.

What can i replace my 2GB ram stick with that will work without fault.
What can i replace it with that is compatible?
[A list or ram sticks and a website that i can buy from is preferd.]

I have an older laptop.. it's a Lenovo ThinkPad T41 2379.

I want to put a new HDD in it... since it only has a 40G and I have filled it up.

It's the kind that sits on a little platform thing and slides out when you unscrew the screw. There is NO cable, SATA, ribbon or otherwise. It just looks like an IDE connection that you plug the HDD directly into.

If I were shopping in a store I could find this by looking at it, but I have no idea what it's called and want to order one from newegg.com.

Can anyone tell me what it's called "technically", or provide a newegg link?

Boy I am just not laptop hardware savvy. lol

Thanks in advance.

A:Need Compatible HDD for Laptop

It would be an IDE laptop drive.
There is probably an adapter on the IDE connection of the drive
to adapt it to the laptop.
The adapter will need to be removed and installed on the new drive.
You dont want to get a drive that is larger than your hardware can handle.
If it can do 40GB,it will probably handle a 120GB drive.
There should be screws in the side of the hard drive carrier you remove
to remove the drive from the carrier.

I am looking at a laptop for a fellow student. He upgraded from 8.1 to 10 shortly after 10 became available. Recently it was running slow and shuts off sometimes. Fan vent was clogged. CPU temp a little too high. First of all there are no drivers for Windows 10 from Toshiba. This laptop is not on their compatibility list.

I was running ccleaner and noticed its taking a long time. I looked at the CPU and Ram usage and CPU is at 7% and RAM at 49%. Then I noticed the speed of the CPU is at 1.2GHz with a Max speed of 2.6GHz. Every now and then it will jump to 2.3GHz for a second or two, then back down to 1.2 or 1.3GHz. Could this have anything to do with the 10 upgrade? Will not having the drivers for 10 create a performance issue? I think the laptop needs to go back to 8.1 but I need input from above my level (very low).

Toshiba Satellite P855-S5102
Intel Core i5-3230M CPU @2.6GHz
4G RAM Single Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)

Ccleaner is still running through Edge. Been doing it for 20 minutes and still at 0% progress which is why I posted.

A:Compatible Printer for Laptop?

Kodak has an ad for the "kodak esp 5" which brags on low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), ie; cheaper inks
This is an All-in-One printer + Copier device and if I had NOT already purchased the
Canon mp470 (pixma fine) which I love, I would go with the Kodak

A:I would like to know if my laptop is compatible to use SATA ...

Not even an issue. SATA3 will clock back to SATA 2 if needed but your laptop is SATA 3. Best consumer SSD is Samsung 850 Evo but others make very good ones, too. SanDisk, Kingston, etc.

please help. I recently bought samsung ativ book 9 lite presuming I could play the sims 3 etc on it and it is in fact not able to, I love age of empires and can someone tell me if you think id be able to play it on this laptop? Thanks

AoE 3 is a little old... so go to www.canyourunit.com and then type in the name and search/run the website. It will check your computer, but your video card may be the problem. I see that it comes with Windows 8? If so you may can get away with Windows Compatibilty mode.

Hello! I have a Lenovo Ideapad G510 and I want to upgrade memory.Actually I have a Samsung DDR3 4GB 1600 MHz 1Rx8 PC3L- 12800S - 11 -13 -B4A have a free slot. I found this: Samsung DDR3 4GB 1600 MHz 2Rx8 PC3 - 12800S - 11 -10 -F2 Does my laptop support also PC3 and 2Rx8 memory? Can I send the order?Thank you for answering.

A:Is this memory compatible with my laptop?

The answer is "maybe".  Your  machine uses low-voltage PC3L memory (1.35V).  The other stick is PC3, which is 1.5V memory.  Some 1.5V memory will work at 1.35V and some will not.  You would need to try the individual stick.  (All 1.35V PC3L memory will work at either 1.35V or 1.5V).
