I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi sivasandeep99,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

If you have tried FN+F2 when boot?
Or holding down Shift and clicking restart?
If those steps did not work either, You might need to contact Lenovo Technical Support and have the system shipped to Repair Facility for BIOS Reflash.

Found this article but it is for the same model that has same issue like yours.

A:can't access UEFI BIOS and BOOT menu on my lenovo z580

I own a Lenovo G700, and I have heard that Shift + F2 will get you into the BIOS. It might work if all else fails. You can also call Lenovo support or search around a bit more. But in my case I have to use the hardware OneKey Recovery button to access it.

Hello,
I am having problems with direct booting into Windows 8 installed into a VHDX file.
This is a four-partition UEFI boot on a GPT drive. EFI files are residing on a second partition of disk 0 (the ESP partition) in the EFI folder. The boot virtual disk is residing on the fourth partition of that disk 0.
When I turn on the PC, it shows black screen after the BIOS POST screen. No Windows 8 boot menu, no other information is displayed. However, if I press Shift+F12 (or F12) to start Dell BIOS Boot Menu and choose Windows Boot Manager from the UEFI part of
the boot menu, Windows 8 starts to boot without difficulties.
How do I make Windows to boot automatically without having to select Windows Boot Manager in DELL BIOS boot menu?
I believe I messed up with boot sector somehow... What needs to be fixed provided that Windows 8 will boot into VHDX file?
Thank you.

Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

Belarc reports UEFI: American Megatrends Inc. P11-B2
Operating System: Windows 10 Home (x64) Version 1511 (build 10586.494)
Installed: 4/27/2016 5:58:22 AM Servicing Branch: Current Branch (CB)
Boot Mode: UEFI with successful Secure Boot.

This is my brother?s computer: originally it was Win8, upgraded to Win8.1 and then in Apr to Win10.
--- The computer runs OK and I?ve shown him how to use MRF to create system image backups.
--- Today Aug 8 we tried to test recovering yesterday?s Aug 7 system image backup.
--- It didn?t go well at all.
--- The MR recovery DVD-RW didn?t boot up in order to test it.

I thought of disabling Secure Boot to see if that was blocking the MR bootable Rescue DVD-RW.

However we weren?t able to boot into either the UEFI BIOS or Boot Menu.
--- According to our notes DEL is used to boot into the UEFI BIOS and F12 is for the Boot Menu.
--- However when booting up: in less than a split second something scrolls up but the computer immediately boots into Windows to log in.
--- That?s much too fast to get into the UEFI BIOS or Boot Menu.
--- Please help us figure out what to do.

Following that I?ll have to learn how to ensure proper system image backups and recovery using MRF.
--- I don?t recall any issues when I had Win7 but re-training myself makes sense to me because it?s obvious I don?t understand it well.
--- For now I?m going to completely uninstall MRF from his computer and hope to start over with a clean slate.

A:Cannot boot into UEFI BIOS or Boot Menu

Try F2 or F8 while Powering ON.. (which you might already Have). If no go update BIOS(which you might already have).

Assuming you have Windows 10 or Windows 8.1 on computer.. Do a Shift + Restart >> Troubleshoot >> Advanced Options >> Change UEFI firmware settings...Restart.
U should be be able to boot in BIOS.

Mother Board: Gigabyte 3.2GHZ
HDD: SATA 1 TB
OS: Windows 8.1

Problem: When the computer is powered on it boots normally. However, all function keys or cmd keys to get into BIOS (F2), BOOT Menu (F8), Set up menu (F12) are disabled.

Possible Cause: Ransomware, I know for a fact my son installed a .exe file that put ransomware on his computer due to the HDD being locked and inaccessible. Also, when logging into his user he is prompted with the ransom log on by GoTLINKS.

Attempted Fixes: I've tried removing the HDD cables and booting in hopes of getting forced into the boot menu. However, no drives are detected and I am prompted to insert the OS Disk and hitting ENTER. Upon doing so all KBoard keys are disabled and computer must be restarted. At this point the computer will boot from the OS Disk and allow for a install of windows or windows repair. Upon trying to reinstall the OS (after plugging the HDD back in) the OS Key states it is not retrievable, even though it is on the tower of his desktop. This happens after the key is inserted. (The key has been registered prior to this all happening). When going into windows repair from the disk I am given 3 options. System Refresh, System Reset, and Advanced Options.

System Refresh: Error: A Valid OS must be selected. Please select a valid OS and restart your system.

System Reset: Error: The disk drive is locked. Please unlock the disk drive in order to proceed.

Take it that you already tried Esc, F2, F10, F12, Del, Ins, etc... repeatedly during boot up/splash screen.
If so, next I would shutdown the machine and hold down several keys at once and boot up.
The intent is to cause a keyboard error to force access to the BIOS. It may work.

My Acer Extensa 5620Z originally came with Vista, then I clean installed Win 7, now upgraded to Win 8. Since the latest upgrade, I am unable to access BIOS or the boot menu. The black and white boot screen used to say to press F12 for boot menu, and something else for Setup, those messages are no longer there. And those key combinations do not work. I've also tried some other combinations I've found in searches - F2, Alt-F10, ctrl F10, alt ctrl F10, F8, del, esc. None work.

Could the upgrade has modified the firmware somehow? Boot screen says Phoenix bios, TrustedCore v1.32 - I think that is the same it has been.

Thanks

This is not exactly a solution but I do know if you hold your power button on your computer until It turns off and then turn it back on you will be able to get into your BIOS though I don't recommend this solution

We're having a problem getting access to the BIOS (F10), Boot Menu (F9), etc from a new Elite X2 1012 G1. We deployed our Windows 10 image to it and now we're unable to access anything. We upgraded the BIOS from 1.14 to 1.16 but that hasn't fixed the issue. The tablet boots in to Windows everytime, happily ignoring our attempts to press F10 or F9. Anyone run into this before? We've got over 200 of these on their way in and it's going to be a nightmare if we can't fix this.

I have a desktop PC Acer XC600, the hard disk is formatted in the UEFI-Scheme. Now I want to do a clean install of a fresh Win8, but I cannot manage to boot into UEFI-mode, neither from DVD or USB.

I can reach a boot menu by pressing F12, but there is nothing like shown in the article about installing Win8 in UEFI mode. Only standard bios devices show up. There are simply no UEFI devices. I tried different usb sticks, dvds, formatted them different ways, but the best I can get is the point where setup says "cannot install because the disk is formatted GPT"

But the acutal system is definitely running in UEFI mode (?)

A:no UEFI device in boot menu

There has to be a way to set your BIOS to do a UEFI install. In my case, when I hit f12, I am offered a choice of two options on the boot menu and they read something like this:

Windows Boot Manager
Patriot Pyro
Optiarc DVD
UEFI Optiarc DVD

Now, that is not the exact wording. You need to consult you mobo manual for how to set that option on the boot menu.

I accidentally deleted the Windows 7 boot entry in the Windows Boot Manager. My laptop uses UEFI instead of BIOS. The OS is Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.

Here what I tried and its results:
Use startup repair: I tried to use Startup Repair from a Windows 7 Installation Disk (actually, a USB). However, it said that the Recovery Options was not compatible. There are many causes as mentioned in Causes of incompatibility and I was able to eliminate these:64-bit Installation Disk: Checked
Windows 7 installer boot to UEFI: don't know how to check
CPU and OS architecture are the same: Processor (CPU?) Architecture is AMD64, OS is Windows_NT (don't know if the same or not)

Many suggest to use startup repair but I don't know how to make this work.
Use bootrec following Repair Windows 8 efi bootloader: three commands finished succesfully but I still doesn't see the Windows 7 boot entry in the Windows Boot Manager.
Use diskpart: open diskpart from the command promt from the Windows 7 installation USB. I was able to see

A:Repair Windows 7 boot menu on UEFI

Lets start with the basic stuff first. In your bios, there should be a Windows Boot Manager listed in the Boot options. Is that set to first priority? USB flash drives need additional steps to make them useable in UEFI. The Windows USB maker will not work. Use an Install DVD if you have one, if not, download one from here.

http://www.mydigitallife.info/offici...digital-river/

If you need to boot to the UEFI version of the Install DVD, you also need to go into the bios and select the UEFI DVD entry.

I will go through your post after this response, so let us know if you are able to run the Startup Repair, if needed.

What motherboard/system do you have?

Edit: EasyBCD is not UEFI aware. It may be able to repair some things, but I don't recommend using it, but since you say a beta does, I will do some testing.

Ubuntu has UEFI also and installs fine using it. No need to use some additional procedure to add it to the boot. Just use the Boot Menu F key to choose it from the list, or go into the Bios to set it first priority. The Boot Device list menu in a one time choice, and does not set that device to first priority in the bios.

Any advice is appreciated.Mike

I don't get to the point where I could type in my user name and the password. Instead I get the Boot/Application Menu. I tried to turn off and then turn it back on but nothing changed. I selected different options in the Boot Menu but also nothing works. What can be done? A:G480 - How to get out of the boot menu/app menu that pops up after opening my laptop? The keys arent...

hi shouu,

Welcome to the Forums.

It's likely that the boot priority has been changed in the BIOS causing the Boot Menu to show up everytime the unit is turned ON / restarted.

Things that you can try:
1. Boot into the BIOS by continuously tappnig F2 on startup (before the Lenovo logo shows up) or by pressing the OneKey Recoveyr button.
   - Sample image

2. Once In the BIOS navigate to the Startup tab > Boot Priority Order and ensure that the Boot Menu is at the very bottom or at the exclude list.
  - Sample image
  - Sample image

When finished, hit F10 to save and exit and observe.

Let me know if this works for you.

Regards

Hallo, I have been trying to figure out forever how to boot from CD or USB on a windows 7 ASUS N53SV. I thought that to do this, you would always have to tap a 'F1*' key. Well, none of those keys brought me into the BIOS or a Boot-Menu. Pressing 'F10' ws the closest thing to what I was looking for, which said something about booting, and 'winload.exe' which did nothing. I finally read today on another thread that pressing 'Del' will also bring you into BIOS to change the boot menu or something else, which on my ASUS, of course brought me there...

So why did ASUS choose the delete key to go into BIOS and not a F11 key or something?? What's so great about making delete the key to go into BIOS ? To find out your F11 key's do nothing you want them to do?

A:Why Del Key? BIOS Boot Menu

Different motherboard manufacturers use different keys to get into bios. When you boot up, usually below the manufacturers logo screen it will tell you which key to push for BIOS and which key to push for te one time boot menu. If it does not, your manual will. Use the one time boot menu to boot from CD/DVD or USB. That only affects that one boot, it does not change the boot order you set in BIOS. In BIOS, I usually set my CD/DVD as first boot device and the hard drive as second boot device. That way if you have a bootable CD/DVD in the tray it will boot from that.

So when I turn on my lenovo u410 laptop I get this menu box up as seen below in a black background. I've played around with the menu and I get nothing. This has been happening for the past few days and usually it manages to get past this and start up normally. However today is the day it's decided to stay put and I have no idea what to do. This is very frustrating as I only bought the laptop less then 2 months ago. Please help!     It's windows 8 btw

Hi N_A,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,

I?d like to guide you in a way to try to set the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) inside the BIOS to be the first priority booting order so we will try to return the BIOS to factory default settings:

Step1: Please turn off the machine and then at the left side you can see the NOVO button which is the button with the curve arrow

Step2: Press on the NOVO button and then you will get option press on BIOS Setup

Step3: Please press on FN+F9 together and then press Enter on Yes option and then FN+F10 to save and exit and then press Enter

Hope the information helps. Let us know.

Regards

Soha

I had wanted to change the minimum amount of memory to my intel HD 515 graphics and make some other tweaks for gaming, and I turned off my laptop, pushed the novo button on the side, it booted up and I chose the Bios setup option. I started going through the menus and I HAD an advanced menu which gave me the graphics memory options, it had overclocking options, option to enable NFC, 3D Camera and a bunch of other stuff. I even showed to someone, so I was NOT hallucinating haha. I had decided to reboot and wait so I could google a lot of the options as I didn't understand some of the super-super advanced settings. When I went back to the bios, no advanced menu is present and I can NOT get it back. A lot of stuff says you CAN'T get it, but I DID.  Anyone? Was it some super weird glitch or did I bump the right key combo? I did a google search and have found a few others that have also accidentally done this, including a screenshot of the SAME menu I got from another Lenovo user.

A:How to access Yoga 700-11ISK Advanced Menu in Bios...

HI.GodAmongGeeks It is possible that advanced bios settings, is or has been limited change modify something you could cause damage to the system,You could try again doing a bios update and see if Advanced mode, exit no exit lenovo has the grey bios. Verify the operating system and that you do not have the same version of bios, use caution that does not cut the procedure:BIOS Update for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 700-11ISKhttps://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/ddcn25ww.exe http://support.lenovo.com/es/es/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/yoga-700-11isk? Regards.

I have an old HP machine and when I turn it on it does not indicate that windows is loading or even give me the option of pressing ESC or F10 to get to the BIOS. It goes straight to the desktop but I can't see the Start Menu or access programs. If I hit Ctrl, Alt, Delete, nothing happens. Any thoughts as to how I could get to the BIOS? I'd like to load LINUX on it, probably SUSE since it's an older machine.

A:Can't access Start Menu, BIOS, Task Manager, etc

If you are going to install something other than Windows...what's with BIOS, Start Menu, etc.?

When is the last time the system worked properly? When did things change?

Pertinent error messages received?

One thing I suggest...before you attempt to install any O/S, it's worth the time to run the appropriate diagnostic on the hard drive.

System model?

Louis
