Want the computer I had before I pressed 'Refresh'

Q: Want the computer I had before I pressed 'Refresh'

I could not connect to a hotspot I frequently use so I refreshed my computer. It removed my Windows 10. I simply want the computer I had before I refreshed it. Is there any way to turn back the hands of time? At the moment, I am using a tablet because my computer is now super slow and I can not do this on it.

Preferred Solution: Want the computer I had before I pressed 'Refresh'

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Want the computer I had before I pressed 'Refresh'

What, precisely, did you do to "refresh" your computer?

From the last 2 days, I suddenly started noticing a very weird issue. When I pressed the delete key once, it automatically kept deleting for infinity until I pressed that key again or some another key on the keyboard. Also, sometimes, it automatically keeps pressing itself even if I didn't press the delete key even once. The laptop is G50-80 (not sure about how to see the model number). Any help is much appreciated.

Earlier today I couldn't press the shift key without my computer beeping.

I pressed it several times and was given the option to switch off 'sticky keys', after which the beeping problem ended.

This is suspicious because I never switched on sticky keys. Is there a form of malware that causes Sticky Keys to come on?

When I boot up my computer all is fine. It will work fine for an hour or two. Then for no apparent reason it begins to act up. I use Chrome as my primary browser, but the same thing happens in Edge. When I click on a link that opens a new tab, the tab opens behind the primary webpage. Scrolling no longer moves me up and down a webpage, but shrinks or enlarges the text. If I try to type in a text box, no letters appear but the computer acts as if the CTRL key is pressed. If I type V it pastes the last phrase I copied. If I type U it jumps to the source code for the page I'm on. If I try to open Word 10, I get a pop-up saying the CTRL key is pressed and do I want to open in Safe Mode.

What I have tried so far. Reboot (when in doubt!). If I reboot my computer it behaves normally for an hour or two and then reverts to thinking CTRL is pressed. Run the Troubleshooting hardware diagnostic (no impact). Sub in a different keyboard and a different mouse (no impact). Change scrolling feature in Chrome (seemed to work at first and then reverted, but maybe I rebooted. I forget.

This is very annoying. I'm on my laptop at the moment, because my desktop is acting up again and constantly rebooting so I can continue to work is not good. Any suggestions?

A:Computer acting at if CTRL key is pressed

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you plug a keyboard into a laptop, the actual laptop keys continue to work. Unlike a desktop where you would remove the suspect keyboard and replace it with another. So it's entirely possible there is an issue with the keyboard/CTRL key of the laptop.

and I'm pretty sure this is a Windows7 issue. I usually keep my computer running 24/7, but if I have to shut it down for any reason (updates, etc) then when I restart, it acts as if the CTRL button is stuck. Any key presses or mouse clicks work like the CTRL button is being held down. I thought at first it might be the keyboard, but I took it apart, cleaned the board and keys...and even tried another keyboard..no help. So far, the only thing that seems to fix it...at least temporarily...is to log off, then relog back on...even though its just one user account...the main one, this seems to work.. At least until the next time I have to shut down the computer again.
A few things I am pretty sure about
1<As stated, its NOT the keyboard
2<Pretty sure it's not malware/spyware/virus, I keep AVG running all the time, and use Malewarebytes at least once a week to check on things...nothing has shown up on either one.
3>I did find one thing using Google that said it was a known issue on Windows7, but didn't give any information on how to fix it. I would post that link, but haven't been able to find it since that one time.
so....does anyone know a fix?

HELP!
I just placed a AMD Anthlon in a case, and for the first couple of boots the thing ran correctly. There was a problem with the A: Drive so I swaped it with another. Now whenever I turn on the Power Switch from the back of the machien the computer turns on. There is no output to the monitor. I hear the HD power up and the CDRom turns on, but that's it. No beeps, dings. sparks...nothing. Something that was wierd after a while I thought maybe it was the powersupply so I pulled another power supply from another box and used it. First time it worked...I had to press the computer power button to turn it on. Unfortunately I didn't have the video card installed to see if it outputted. I secured everything then went to turn on the PowerSupply power and again the same thing happened with the new power supply. I've never seen this before and I'm about the snap. I know the MB works cuz I just pulled out out of another box that I upgraded. I tried plugging in the MB back to the old Power Supply and the same things happens.

Here's the thing...I bought off of Ubid a case that had a 300 watt power supply...the one I bid on said it was an ATX case. When I got hte case in it said on the box P4 Case. I hope that doesn't make any difference.

Please help...

Hello all. I've had this weird problem ever since I got my computer where my computer will lock up randomly and the only way to unfreeze it is to press the the Windows button on my keyboard. That brings up the start menu and then I'm able to move my mouse again and use my computer. At that point I just press the windows key again to close the start menu and resume what I was doing. To be clear, there is no discernible pattern for what makes the computer restart. Either I'm playing LoL, or BF3, or i'm just sitting around at desktop, or browsing the internet. There is no consistency.

Two weeks ago my computer decided it was going to start randomly restarting by itself for no apparent reason. I have the automatic restart turned off so if it was a blue screen i would see it. There is no blue screen, and BlueScreenView turns up no results after the restart.

When i check event viewer there are no problems except some random errors that occur independent of the restart related to Vmware (which i no longer have installed, i dont know how i'm getting errors related to it).

After the restart, if i look at event viewer the only thing that tells me anything about the problem is this error

"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." Source: Kernel-Power.

I have done virus and malware scans, and i have removed old graphics drivers just in case. All of my drivers are up to date.

This all started after i installed new RAM and a new video card into my PC. A side note about the RAM is that 2/4 sticks i received from newegg were defective at first, and the machine would not boot if i did not take them out, so i RMA'd them. They sent me a 2nd set of sticks which allowed the machine to boot but after that, i was unable to keep ... Read more

This virus is driving me crazy. It seems to refresh whatever window I'm on because the top bar flashes in a way similar to a refreshing folder. But it doesn't really refresh anything. If I right click, the context menu will disappear within a few seconds because of this "refreshing". The same thing happens to the start menu. Even when I'm trying to rename a file, I'll be in the middle of typing and the "refreshing" will occur and the file name will change back to the non-editable view. I can't get any work done with this virus. I've run a 3 hour comprehensive scan with Norton, and it didn't fix the problem.

I use my 40" HDTV as my computer monitor (usually at 720p, 1280x720), as well as a TV with cable (1080p).
Last July my Dynex TV died, so I bought an RCA.
After a few months I noticed that videos played on my computer at 720p looked ok, but at 1080p dark areas were all black. The same video was ok viewed at 720p.
The cable video was fine at 1080p or 720p.
I found some test images on the net, and the results (photos of my TV screen):
At 720p (all greyscales ok):

at 1080p (dark greyscales are black):

When I contacted RCA (actually Curtis, using the RCA name) they suggested trying different refresh rates.
My video card is Nvidia GeForce 210. I selected 1920x1080 at 50 Hz. The display was now correct. So I tried 59 Hz. Again, a good display.
RCA had no idea why the TV liked 1080p from a cable box but not from my computer, but thanked me for the info in case anyone else reported this problem.
I can now watch my computer videos at 1080p, so I'm happy.

I'm posting this for anyone else who has a similar problem.

When I searched for info as to why my video card had both 59 and 60 Hz rates, I learned the NTSC standard is actually 59.94 Hz. My TV reports the input is 1080p 60Hz at either the old or new setting. I don't know what the actual difference is, but since it works ...

Assuming that there is no one here that is proficient with a Gateway Monitor, you may not get an answer. Probably the best approach that you can use is:

1 Go to the company website, support and you may find the answer
2 Go to company website try to find the monitor users manual
3 If you have the monitor's users manual, I am sure the answer can be found there.

I work with 3 computers, all running different versions of 64-bit Windows 7, one Ultimate, one Professional, one Home. The only similarities these 3 computers have are AMD CPUs and AMD graphics. On all 3 computers, the desktop and taskbar icons refresh on every single boot after displaying the correct icon for a few seconds. Depending on the computer, it freezes for up to a full minute while it refreshes the icons, not letting me select any shortcuts or expand the start menu(but it did let me take a print screen, which I have included). I have searched the web and this site and tried all the tricks that work for everyone else: cleared icon cache, added the Maxed Cached Icons to the registry, and a few others that also resulted in failure.

It's gotten so frustrating to wait to do anything due to this problem that on all 3 computers I have made backup images and done a clean install of Windows to check whether or not the it is a Windows issue or a driver issue. I have taken the following steps:

- Immediately on the clean install, I put several shortcuts to default windows programs, and reboot. Not a problem.

- Reboot again, still no problem.

- Install AMD video drivers from CD, reboot. Freeze while icons reload.

- Clean install again to avoid remnants of drivers left behind after uninstalling, test reboot twice with several icons on desktop with no problems.

- Install newest AMD video drivers from website via USB, reboot. Freeze while icons reload.

Hi everyone,

I was trying to turn up the volume by pressing Fn and then F4 but i accidentally pressed F5. This notice came up saying LCD mode only. Then the whole screen changed. It is now slightly zoomed in but squashed. The top of say Internet Explorer has gone wierd and is no longer seethrough like you can make it on Vista. Ive tried restarting the system. I could really really do with some help on how to reverse this back to normal. Any help?

Hello! today a friend of mine sent me a messege in facebook telling me that someone stole my facebook profil and he also included a zip so pressed on the zip saved it to my computer opened it but nothing happened it showed me a black box with some letters for a split of a second and then it dissappeared, as if it couldn't open.  So I asked my friend what that was and he said that he diddn't sent it that it was sent automatically to me and that it was a virus and not to open it. But I did so I tried to erase it and I did erase the folders inside the zip but I couldn't erase the zip itself because it said that it was open in a programm but the only programm I had open was 'my files' then I closed the PC and reopened it and erased it succesfully but I want to know.. did I get infected? How can I know that? And if I did how can I get rid of the virus?Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:how can i know if i have a virus after i pressed on a zip someone sent me?

I would run a full virus scan with your antivirus and with malwarebytes or an equivelent malware scanner. Then I'd change my Facebook password. Never assume any zip file is from the person who supposedly sent it. 90% are viruses. Also warn your friends that  you've been hacked and not to accept any files form you. or  any friend requests the hacker might send.

`My laptop was working fine then suddenly started acting as if the ] key is being pressed. I've performed a factory restore on it so now im back to 8.1 from 10 and is still not fixed and now I can't log into windows at all if I plug another keyboard into it the keys are functinal on it,but doesn't change anything. The pointer and touchpad seem to be working properly and none of the keys on the laptops keyboard are working but when I click the EOA icon to activate the OSK it only flashes momentarily so I'm not able to click it! I've tried resetting the battery and still not working. I've called tech support and they said since I've done the reset to factory condition theres nothing else that can be done and to mail it to them. I'm at witts end on this situation and appreciate any advice from this community. Hi there,
I'm in the process of creating a fairly simple number game in VB .NET, using a simple form with labels etc., to act as a prototype for the full thing.
As control arrays are no longer supported, and I wanted something to that effect, after having put 10 labels on the form I used:

Code:
Public Cells As New System.Collections.Generic.List(Of Label)
'And then, later on, populated Cells with:
Cells.Add(Label1)
Cells.Add(Label2)
Cells.Add(Label3)
...
Cells.Add(Label10)
Now, I would like to create a function that will be called whenever any of the labels is pressed and will then wait for a keypress indicating a value, to be entered into the pressed cell, or a click on another label.
However, I am a little stuck as for how to do this, so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
fatnickc.

Hello,

Just now I came back to my computer after being afk for about an hour and found that my W key was being pressed as if it was held down. I couldn't type in any search bar or chat because it would just repeat "wwww..." and the only way I could fix it was to power down my computer and restart it.
This is the first time that this has happened to me and I'm wondering if I should be concerned?

I am using Windows 7

Thanks,
TyGuy

how would I do something like this

MsgBox"do you like pie?", 1, "Question"
*******something would go here to make it do this if "yes" is pressed: MsgBox"pie is good"

and something like this:MsgBox"why not?" if no is pressed

I know this is possible, but I can't get it to work also, can you do the same thing with InputBox?

Was trying to get to safe mode and used the old key combination.
Has anyone at Dell made any headway on fixing this problem?
From what I've read the only way it can be repaired is by replacing the motherboard.
My warranty is expired but this is pretty clearly a manufacturing defect (why in the world would they have it setup like this).
How much does this repair cost?

Any assistance is appreciated. Sadly I was going to sell it tonight but I was trying to get the cache drive working (rather than being a separate mini solid state.

A:Pressed F8 on my XPS 15 and now I have a boat anchor....

This is unfortunate. A number of posts here mention that pressing F8 when booting the system will brick it. F8 for entering Safe Mode no longer works in Windows 10 although it can be changed to do that. To enter Safe Mode in Windows 10 you should hold the "Shift" key and then click the "Restart" button. Why some Dells are set up to brick on F8 I don't know. Your only choice is to call Dell and see what they can do.

My pc seems to think the shift key is pressed down, it is not a hardware issue as even when my keyboard is not connected it still acts as if the shift key is held down. So I am constantly typing In Capitals and cannot scroll up and down, I have tried holding it down for for a long period of time and it still makes no difference, I have tried the refresh setting and no change. Any ideas?

Hi

Does anyone have any idea as to whay when KaZaA is running, my IE6 will launch and go to my home page (google) but if I type anything in the search box, the moment I type, IE6 crashes and locks up.

I can however use cut and paste to get text into the google search box when KaZaA is running. All works fine when KaZaA in not running and is the same with KaZaA and KaZaA Lite.

Hi,

I'm still still kinda stretching my legs in the C/C++ field and was wondering whats the best way if you have and exe application running as a Windows service to detect if the keyboard has CTRL+Alt+F4 pressed down (Using VS and .NET framework so feel free to utilise .Net functions)?

Also keep in mind this is running as a service so the smaller the resources used the better

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Hello everyone!
I'm having trouble with my laptop's keyboard, specifically with letter x.

I press it once and nothing happens.. but if I immediatly press it again, it writes the letter.

What happens?
This works almost like when you open a folder on the pc. You need to click two times quickly to open it.

I tried running the Safe mode and writing and it worked perfectly!

At first I thought it was just dirt or a piece of something that was trapped under the x key but I removed it and nothing..

Please help me.

A:Keyboard writes key once when it was pressed twice

It sounds like there is some program or service running in normal mode that is keying off the 'x' key to see what follows. I've never heard of something like this and have no guesses on what it may be.

Did it work OK at one time? If so, did you install some utility or toolbar around the time the problem started? Can you try a System Restore point just before the problem started?
