I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Will the Pc1x1 connection limit the speed of this Device

It really depends on the drive(s) you are connecting to it. The PCIE-1x slot if (1.0) will have a single direction max rate of aprox 266MB/s and if (2.0) 532MB/s.

This will be fine for 7200rpm Hard Disks but if you were planning on one or more 500MB/s SSD's then the bus-width would limit you.

The devices only claim to be compatible with a PCI-E x1 (2.0) interface.

Look for a wireless router with traffic shaping and QoS. From my search, a Billion 7400 has traffic shaping. Also, the Actiontec MI424WR has it as well. Here's the shot from the Actiontec configuration pages.

Hi all, I've been dealing with this problem for a few weeks now, I moved into a new apartment, got my internet set up, and I've noticed my new PC doesn't get the same connection speeds as all the rest of my devices, or my roommates devices. I'm running Windows 10, I've tried both a wired and wireless connection, both limited to around ~20mbps, when I'm paying for 150mbps, and every other device, ie. my phone, PlayStation, my roommates PC, and his phone, all connect consistently over both wired and wireless at 130-150mbps. I've tried uninstalling my AV software (despite following all steps to uninstall, Norton still has files in my ProgramData I can't get rid of, and TSG SysInfo still detects it as my active, enabled AV), setting my TCP/IP stack and WINSOCK to default, as recommended in another forum I found, and updating my drivers. I've read to start up in Safe mode and check the connection speed from there, but I find that I can't get my browser to open in Safe mode to try, and I'm unaware how to check it otherwise. Any help would be appreciated, I'm losing my mind a little

I dont think you are going to find anything free that does this. We talk about this subject occassionally on the forums. You will either need to buy a high end router or run a proxy server like Squid. You could also try this as well.

A:How to limit internet speed on LAN?

If you want to mess with Linux, there's a few tools out there which are free to do bandwidth limiting. But then you have to throw up another box on your network with additional network interfaces. Or you'll have to get a network switch or router which supports QoS. Either way, you're spending money on hardware.

I have a son who uses an insane amount of bandwidth due to downloading crap. We have a fast connection, so he feels he should take initiative of it, and it annoys me quite a bit. I am wanting to punish him. Seriously, though, is there anyway to limit the bandwidth, or rather the transfer speed, another computer can use that is connected to the network? Not a set amount (such as how some ISPs only allow a set amount of transfer per month), but the actual transfer speeds. For example: we can download at 1100kbps (depending on server), but I would like to set his computer to only be able to use 100kbps of that so it doesn't strain the other computers in our household. I don't have the exact models of the modem and router I am using, as I am not at home, but they are both LINKSYS brands. Any help would be appreciate.

A:Possible To Limit Transfer Speed?

Netlimiter does a good job, although it's not free.

I'm very puzzled, for some reason my Internet speed on this computer has limited itself to 3 Mb or ~2980 kb/s, and I have a 20 Mb/1 Mb connection.

There s nothing wrong with the upload, and other computers can attain near 20 Mb download on the connection.

I can't find any sign of any kind of infection of the PC. Run lots of different anti spy/virus/other programs, but found nothing but a few tracking cookies.

I've monitored the connection to see if part of the line was hijacked, used 3 different programs over 2 days to be certain, but still no unexpected traffick.

I have both a Wireless and a Wire connection, normally they are both on, but tried disabling the one an the other but still exactly 3 Mb.

Anyone have any ideas about what it could be?

Recently, my internet speed has been really slow due to my tenants over using the wireless internet. (It took about 3 minutes to just load up this page =( ) I donít want to be mean or to tell them I donít want them to use it too much. I just want to set a limit for wireless internet to maybe 50-100 kbps. I have tried to go to my router settings and try to change a bit, but Iím completely baffled by all the technical terms. I am using linksys router WRT160N. I went to the advanced wireless settings and I am faced with these options:
Beacon Interval: 100 ( Default: 100, Milliseconds, Range: 1 - 65535)
DTIM Interval: 1 ( Default: 1, Range: 1 - 255)
Fragmentation Threshold: 2346 ( Default: 2346, Range: 256 - 2346)
RTS Threshold: 2347 ( Default: 2347, Range: 0 - 2347)
Can someone explain to me which one of these can limit network speed?

A:How can I limit my wireless network speed

None of the above. The wireless settings aren't designed to limit network throughput.

If you really want to throttle the Internet speed, you'll need a router that has real active bandwidth management, which I don't think is offered on that router.

My download speed according to speedtest.net is 2.23 Mbps. According to the at&t tech who came to the house it's closer to 3Mbps. (He came about a week ago to tell me my dsl modem had gone bad.) But, the highest download speed I can achieve is 300Kbps. I don't understand why. I have a new dlink router and modem in one. The network is all wired. Does anyone have any idea what cause this issue?

A:Download Upload speed limit

speedtest.net is the correct speed

downloading things is not just dependend on your connection but also on the connection where you are downloading from

for example if your connection is 2000kbps and the opposite connection has an upload speed of 500kbps you wont be able to download faster then 500kbps

also if your provider offers you a connection speed of 3mbps you will never get that exact ammount due to loss on the line its dependend how far away your house is to the main line (telephone central) and how far your modem is from the isra point in the house all those things together create a speed loss so nobody actually gets the maximum speed

Are you sure provider gives you the full amount? How do you know? I would go to an online test like speedtest.net to confirm what you are actually getting.

The DL speed is set by the providers hardware, you simply get what they give you. You can throttle your DL, but why would you want to?

Hi guys,

I am on a network that automaticaly lowers my data transfer speed to 15kb/s if I go over the 85 kb/s mark for more than a few minutes.
This is a pain because myself and my boss should have unlimited access but the current system doesn't allow mac filters etc..

So my question is, is there a program or windows setting that will limit the speed of my network connection to 80 kb/s so that we wont go over the limit and therefore wont be hit with the cap?

Thanks all for the help! Support free information!

A:Solved: Limit speed on local computer.

You can't undo locally what is done remotely. In other words if you don't have access to change the cap or the app doesn't have the granularity to separate group caps, nothing you can do locally will effect that.

What might work, but effects all access, is to set your nic to 10mb half duplex.

Hi there,

As this is my first post, I'll go through a quick presentation. My name is Patrick, 26, living in Switzerland.

I'm looking for a few help to solve an... unusual question : I'm quite sure there is tons of topics on "how to increase my download speed", my wish is to "decrease it"

Well, the reason is simple : I do have several machines on my private network. And when I do download files on my main machine from servers which are really fast (for example Megaupload or similar), I do saturate my 10Mb connection with 1.25 MB/s, which means other machines has strictly nothing left. In fact, they even cannot print a Google page.

I found some documentation on "Advanced QoS options" at Param?tres de QoS avanc?s (in french, sorry, there should be a translation), which seems to be dedicated to Windows Server versions. I tried to use the same on Windows Vista (the options exists and can be changed), but this had no effect at all on my download speed in Firefox.

I set the value to the least (0 = 64Kb / sec) but was still downloading at 1.2 MB/sec. I tried to reboot the machine, in case this option would take effect only after it, but this option really seems to have no effect at all.

Is it something that indeed works only on the server edition of windows ?
Is there another way on windows to limit the inbound internet connection ?
Would you recommend any free software which can make something similar ?

Thank you in advance, any help will be f... Read more

Hi Guys,

I haven't been on this forum until now.

I have a Equallogic PS400 SAN, connected to a Powerconnect 6248 gigbit switch. Everything runs FINE on 2k8 server, Windows 2012r2 and VMware ESXi 5.1.

I created a iSCSI target for my wifes new pc which is based on a Gigbabyte MB, Gigabyte-970a-ud3, with a AMD FX-6100 hexacore CPU 4.2 Ghz , 16gGB DDR3 ram. Boot disks are a pair of SSD 240GB drives striped for even more speed.

Local storage is 4 2TB WD sata3( 6gbs) disks in a stripe for speed. I added a PCIe expansion card for a extra pair of 2TB disks (software striped) also SataIII (6gbs sec)
The network is a quad port Intel vt-100 server class nic. I have NO latency or retransmits on the network, Flow control is on and set up per Equallogic best practices.

There is 2.7 TB of movie ISO's on the 2TB stripe i want to move off to an iSCSI 6TB volume on my san.

Got it?

Here is the kicker , I can easlily move the data from the 2TB stripe to the 8TB stripe using robocopy, teracopy , etc. and it hauls butt and i get 120MB/ sec internal to internal SATA.
Theorectically (and in practice as i have a 2k8 server and 2012 server) i should be able to get 125MBs/ sec on my iSCSI san. I can never get anything more than 12.5MBs / Sec to the iSCSI target, the network transfer maxes out at 100mbs period. No matter what I do , the max network transfer of copying files is 100mbs and 12.5MBs from the windows 7 box. All of my other systems easily get the 100MBs /sec . I read tha... Read more

A:Solved: Video capture device speed vs. processor speed

It is not a matter of slow or not at all. It is most likely a matter of dropped frames. If you have a cheaper video capture card [one without hardware decoding] it will probably work however you will not like the result.

Video editing / encoding is cpu intensive. I would hate to think how long it would take to encode the video file after you capture it [with that cpu]

To give you some idea, it takes me about 15 min to encode approx 1hr of video with an intel dual core cpu. With yours it will be hours.

Hi Star_Light,
From what I can find about upgrading the Marantz M-CR603 to support AirPlay, I do not see anything about an ability to restrict who on the network can communicate with the Marantz M-CR603. The concept of AirPlay is that you can take any device and direct audio and/or video to the AirPlay enabled device. I doubt the Marantz M-CR603 supports restricting what devices can use the AirPlay capability it offers.

Before doing a recent fresh install of XP Pro SP3 I had done some tweak (don't remember the details) and it had tweaked many things including the mysterious TCP/IP connection limit.

I have searched on google and have found mixed recommendations; some experts recommending not to mess with it while some recommending solutions (but have only been able to find it for Vista not XP).

Since the fresh install (and all updates installed) I have been regularly getting the following in the event viewer

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Tcpip
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4226
Date: 04-May-10
Time: 10:22:15 AM
User: N/A
Computer: mylaptop
TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at ....

I can say for sure that my internet connection is not giving me the download performance what I was getting prior to the new install... The download speed that I am not getting is simply frustrating.

Can someone please help me tweak/remove the TCP/IP connection limit so that I can avail the full potential of what my bandwidth really has to offer. Ideal situation would be if you can pls recommend a tool which does all the hidden tweaks.

A:Help remove the connection limit of TCP/IP

the connection limit has nothing to do with download bandwidth.

the connection limit is 10 concurrent shares being accesses at the same time.
a client user does not (should not) need more.

the Windows Servers use many more than than to support large companies.

A:Windows XP SP2 connection limit

for 99% of people who get frequent event id 4226 in event viewer it just means taht you are attempting too many concurrent connections and is usually due to a P2P program or similar

It is rarely a worm especuialy if you have a firewall like NIS 2006

post a HJT log so we can check just to be 100% sure

Is there a limit on the number of retries I can set in a dial-up connection?

I have a laptop with a wireless modem that uses an aircard to log-on to the internet.
If I go out of signal range for 2-3 hours I find that the aircard does not reconnect to the internet once I am back in signal range. I have to reboot the laptop, and even this does not work all the time. I tried setting the dial-up connection to try 50 times, every 2 minutes. This is still not enough.

Can I set the connection settings to try 200 times every 2 minutes?

I have searched the internet to find a limit but with no luck.

A:Limit on dial-up connection retries?

Hi ZacSponge,

Welcome to TSG!

I run WinXP Pro SP2, so my post is relative to that.

Start>Control Panel>Network Connections>select your account login or email name, however your account is identified.

Select Properties button
Click on Options tab
Under Redailing options, increase or decrease Redial attempts.
Click on Redial if line is dropped box and set Time beween redial attempts and Idle time before hanging up.

I am trying to increase my network connection limit greater than 20. I am backing up my servers to a windows7 storage machine and it constantly gives my a "no more connections available" error and then bombs out.

These are not the half-connections, but full established connections. Trying to find a way to do this without having to buy a full server version.

A:How Can I Remove The Limit Of My Internet Connection?

Hi anjo03

If you do find a way, please be sure and let us all know.

At the moment I would say that the only way would be to pay a lot more money to your ISP, but I would love to be proved wrong.

Hi, I was trying to increase my torrent download speeds by increasing my computers TCP connection limit. I used a small program located here - http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/...uto-patcher-to-increase-tcp-connection-limit/

After doing this I was no longer able to properly connect to my Sky wireless router using my TP Link TL-WN353G wireless adaptor. I have run UndoPatch which was also on the website, and restarted, but I still cannot connect properly.

After entering my network key when trying to connect wirelessly, Vista tells me the network is 'Connected with limited access'

Please help!
