I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a MS Access database that links to a oracle database. The date fields are in UTC from 1/1/70 12:00 am. I have an excel spreadsheet that shows me the conversion such as

8/12/2004 12:00am with adjustment to local time is 1092283200

What I would like to do is create an input form for a query where the user can just put in the starting date and time and it convert it to the equivalent UTC number. Right now they have to go to excel and get the equivalent starting UTC number for the date they want. The query is set up to ask for the starting UTC number using the criteria field [Enter Start number] since that is how the linked database stores it.

I have tried to search the web for how to do this conversion but only find how to convert UTC to Access Date time. When I run the query, I have no problem getting this conversion with expression field of

ConDate: DateAdd("h",-4,(DateAdd("s",[EVENT_START],"January 01,1970 12:00:00am")))

Any ideas on converting date/time format to UTC would be greatly appreciated.

A:Solved: Convert Date/Time to UTC numbers

I have created a form for Start and End Date (used format of General Date and Short Date). I am using a button to run code as follows to see what I am getting for the txtStartDate but it shows up as 12:00am and not the date entered. Therefore the DateDiff function comes out with -25569 instead of 14256:

Public Sub DateQuery_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_DateQuery_Click
Dim txtStartDate As Date

MsgBox txtStartDate
MsgBox DateDiff("d", "1/1/1970", txtStartDate)

Exit Sub
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_DateQuery_Click

End Sub
I am hoping it is something simple. Can anyone help?

Recently I've been getting a number of e-mails every day with only the envelope icon showing in the From column and the date/time showing in the Recieved column. The Subject line is completely blank.

I've had this happen before, but very infrequently. Now, all of a sudden, I'm getting at least several of them every day. I'm wondering if this could be symptomatic of some underlying problem with my system, or if this just might be a common, harmless occurrence. Whatever the reason, it's certainly happening much more frequently now than it did before.

I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to explain to me what is going on.

I have a 4 year old computer that runs perfectly, except when I turn it off at night and then back on the next day, I loose a few hours on the time date at bottom of screen. I ajust each time I use it but the same thing happens each time I turn it off. Could it be the clock battery or ? My operating system is Windows XP Home
Thanks Lc

A:Windows XP time/date clock looses time after shut down.

Welcome to TSG...A bad CMOS battery will cause your machine to lose time. If the system is four years old, you're eligible for that issue...also, if the system has spent any lengthy amount of time (weeks or more) unplugged from AC power, it's more likely to happen.

Next reboot (after leaving it overnight), enter BIOS (setup) and see if the time there is slipping as well.

The battery itself (if that's what's bad) is cheap to replace...less than five bucks.

Please give us some specs on the hardware-make, model, etc.-and we can help you with battery replacement instructions.

Greetings, and thanks in advance for your help..

Awhile back I formatted my Windows 10 PCs to show ddd dd-mmm-yyyy on my taskbar clock. This worked happily on my desktop and laptop for months, maybe even a year +

Now (probably starting in the past couple days, if not today), on one of those two PC's, this format will no longer display. It is Okay on the other PC.
What has changed that the taskbar clock space used to expand to fit the "short date" format, but now it will no longer expand - and instead just refuses to display the date at all. (NOTE: I've verified the issue by testing shorter formats -- short formats, like "ddd" show up correctly. Only if you request a longer format will the date not display - evidently because it is too long for the clock area. )

Additional Notes that may help:

* "Working" pc is running build 10586 PC with too small a clock space that won't expand -- Build 14393

*Other differences: Notification/Action center Icon is left of clock on the working PC - Right of clock on the non-working
Right- Clicking on task bar gives "properties" option on working PC -- But "Settings" option on the non-working

( I don't want to prejudice responses - but clearly the implication to me is that some recent OS update is most likely the culprit.)

Thank You

Check the date in your BIOS. Your motherboards Real Time Clock may be WAY off or possibly busted... Or maybe you need a new battery for your MB for it to keep the time when the power is off (They only last 2-5 years depending on MB and battery)

I'm not a Mac user, but a person I am working with is....
We have data exported from various applications into xls or csv files. When I open the files, I get the information needed. However, if the other person (using a mac) opens the file, the number field is changed to a date. The number input format is xxxx-xxxx & displays for her as x/x/xxxx. The date numbers are not at all similar to the orginal numbers (Example 1012-2012 does not display as 10/12/2012 but as 8/1/2514).
She is using excel for Mac 2011
Any suggestions?

A:Numbers changing to date in Excel for Mac

Hi, welcome to the forum,
The problem is that the is too much 'intelligence' built in Excel.
Excel makes it's own intertrepation when enetring a number and if 'it thinks that it's a data' it set the format to date format.

When importing a csv file you can also set the the format general but I don't know how the MAc version does this.
You could Google something like "Excel maintain original fort when reading csv file" and see what that brings you.

You have to thank Miscrosoft for this 'built in intelligence'

I have a Date/Time field that I need converted to just a Time field.

It comes back with 2/11/12 0:00:00

I need just the 2/11/12

I thought about changing it to a text field but I think there will be an issue with the month because it does not bring back a 0 in from the months with only 1 digit.

This table that I am creating is being sent to a txt file and that is where I see the issue. It looks good in Access, but not the txt file.

Any suggestions?

I am looking to set up a macro or formula that basically inserts the current time when a cell is filled SO:

when a2:a100 is populated with any thing then the corresponding C cell will be populated with the time.

when e2:e1000 is populated wiith anything then the corresponding D Cell will be populated.

Currently I am using this macro.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("A6:A100")) Is Nothing Then
With Target(1, 4)
.Value = Time
End With
End If
End Sub

which works great for the A and C cells

but it does not work for the other one.. how do i add and modify this so all my needs are met.
I need another 2 sets of 2 macros accross the sheet for time entry.

Hi all!

I've got a rather weird issue going on. Several times now, I've jumped on my pc and noticed that my AV is "out of date" so I do an update and it still says it is out of date. So then I check the date/time in the task bar and it way off! just yesterday it said it was September 3, 2407! It has done this several times and it's starting to bother me... also, a utility for a game controller I have crashes at windows start-up along with Steam (sometimes). I don't know if these are related or not, but right now I just need to get the time/date fixed... I'm thinking of maybe reinstalling windows to rid of any viruses that AVG FREE isn't picking up....

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Believe me, I've tried getting the updates. I tried relentlessly at one point, but it's as if my system just refuses to update to version 1511. I had come to accept this issue by now, but I just realised today that the OS is already on version 1607, and maybe even more than that.

Why won't my computer update? The 1511 update always fails and I have no idea why. I think my inability to update to 1511 is also the cause of so many other updates failing. I'll try installing version 1607 now, but I doubt it'll work.

A:My version of Windows has been out-of-date for a long time

Hi, try manually updating. There's a guide to getting the iso in the Tutorials section.. Microsoft media creation tool. I prefer to have a physical bootable medium as it can be used for certain repairs.

Please be cautious: create a full disk image using e,g, Macrium Reflect (free) before updating. Some people experience significant difficulties.

We strongly recommend using disk imaging to everyone, routinely, for all your partitions and disks.

Hello Asia, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might double check what time is set in your BIOS, and if you have the correct time zone with the proper daylight savings time option selected in Windows 7. If these are not correct, then it could cause issues with the time.

This is sort of an elementary problem compared to some of the others being posted so if there is no urgency, I can understand. But here is my very small dilemma:

I think there is something wrong within my date and time properties or something because it seems as if my clock in the bottom right corner is displaying 23:32 instead of just showing 11:32 Like a 24 hr clock. Is there a way to make it go back to the way it normally does, or is that something that was supposed to happen or what? Thanks in advance.

A:Windows Clock Problem (date and time properties)

The problem:
The windows clock goes periodically out of sync.
I noticed this happening mostly when I restart the computer (though I have not been able to pin down the exact recurrence).
I tried a number of fixes, but what mostly strikes me as odd, and possibly indicative of the actual problem, is that if I manually change the clock to the real time, and I go for example to sites like time.is, the site tells me that my clock is out of sync.
If I use the internet sinchronization of windows the clock goes to a strange hour (for example now is 13:44, and internet sinchronization sets the clock at 22:47), but time.is tells me that my clock is right, even though it clearly isn't, and it gives an hour very different to that of the site.

Possible cause:
I admit I may have inadvertently caused this problem, as it appeared after a few days ago for a couple of reasons I messed around with registry keys related to the time.
In particular I changed the value of the registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones\W. Europe Standard Time\Dynamic DST
for example adding a 2015 key that wasn't there and seemed to be required in the installation of Microsoft Office.
I think I reverted the changes I made, but I may have missed something.

Some fixes that do not work:
I tried following the suggestions on this sevenforums post.
Unfortunately it doesn't work, here is the terminal's output:

A:Windows clock regularly changes itself to a random (?) date/time

If the cause is the registry, it cannot be fixed using normal methods. If it were me, I would uninstall and then install again. Also if it is the registry, system restore would correct the problem.
Good luck

apologies if this has been covered before somewhere else.
I am trying to remove the time and date from the lock screen. having searched I have seen several customisation options but the only one that actually covered this specifically was to make a change in regedit:

this brought about issues relating to administrator accounts which seem to be a common problem with windows 8.1.
nearly all of the solutions were not available to me but I finally found I could make the change in regedit by changing ownership of the file and changing the format of the time to a space. unfortunately the date is still showing.
how can I remove the date?

further, just to clarify, does the original account I signed in with have full administrator privileges? are they disabled and need to be enabled?
ive seen the tutorial on the built in elevated administrator account, this didn't work on its own either. do some files require a change of ownership to be altered regardless of which account you are signed in with including the administrator account?

any help appreciated

Morning All,

A long time reader and user of advice on the forum but in need of advice if possible.

Long story short but for work purposes I have to have a Win 7 dual boot system that I need to log in and change the time to USA regional time on one of my setups.

A number of times I have inadvertently forgot to change my time and date settings and either cant login to my secure network or when sending emails I get errors messages due to time and date settings.

Is there anyway I can add in a batch command on start up to setup the local date and time ?

Any advice much appreciated

A:Batch File for Windows Date and Time - Dual Boot

Hi Lewis, and welcome to Sevenforums,

What exact timezone are you after?

To change the current timezone setting to, for example, the Central America Standard Time (UTC-06:00), the command would be

tzutil /s "Central America Standard Time"
A list of valid timezone IDs can be viewed via tzutil /l.

Once you have the command you need, simply wrap the command into a batch file then place the script into the Startup folder.

Hey guys,
My girlfriend got some issue in her laptop today, it was working normally in the morning. Suddenly it restarted, now the time and date were reset. I'm pretty sure it's not the CMOS battery, because after that happened, the laptop started acting weird. The laptop started working slow, the icons in the system tray wouldn't load, the volume wouldn't work, avast wourldn't detect anything. I suggested installing Comodo antivirus, Emsisoft Antimalware. The installation failed, the installers were vanishing from the system. What we installed wasn't even being listed in the installed programs list in windows.
At the moment I asked her to start windows in safe mode. We are running Malwarebytes and Spybot Search & Destroy. This far we found some Linkey and the file SmdmFService.exe.
I'm not sure about trying Combofix since I'm not familiar with it and I don't have her laptop with me, i'm giving instructions by phone.
What do you suggest me to do because I'm running out of ideas and I can't even format the drive bc she is overseas atm.
Thanks for the help you can provide, I will appreciate it.

If I am in the wrong forum, please let me know.

About a month after I started using it, the Say the Time clock program I bought stopped launching the management menu when I right click the date/time field in the task tray (notification area).

Therefore, I can't use or edit the program.

Neither the touchpad nor the cordless mouse works.

Other than this problem, my computer works great. Every single item that's meant to be right clicked works for me.

Is there a way I can generate a log to show the software manufacturer (Provenio) that it's their problem and not mine?

I am a novice user but I can follow instructions.

However, I don't want to put my computer at risk if I make an entry error.

Or is it obvious that it's a software problem?

I've been using computers for 18 years and I've never had this problem until I bought this software and used it for about a month.

I just wanted a conclusive way of putting the ball back in the manufacturer's court.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

I open Event Viewer - "Admin View" to see what Errors/Warnings are there and in the column - Date and Time only the date is showing. Same goes for all the other views.
The "Time" element seems to have completely disappeared.

Any idea where its gone........... and more importantly, how to get it back?

A:Time stamp missing from Date and Time column - Event Viewer

Problem solved - but - I don't know why.

Solution:- I changed the Date/Time format from UK to US, opened Event Viewer and it was as it should be. Date & Time showing.
I then changed format back to UK, opened Event Viewer and , as above, the Time was back up.

If anybody knows what had happened I would be most interested.

My thanks to Bill............. from another site for helping me out with this one.

The Windows Live Mail *.eml files time stamp is getting changed to the current date when the file is selected in the Windows Explorer! I save backup copies of important E-mails to folders on the Hard Drive and then synchronize them with the same folders on other LAN Hard Drives for backup archives. When these E-mail files are selected or opened from the Windows Explorer in the Windows 7 OPS the Modified Date Time Stamp is changed to the current date automatically! This action creates a real problem when doing later synchronizations of all of the folders! The date will not be the original date of the E-mail and the original file will be over copied with the file with the newest date stamp. I stopped Indexing on the *.eml files and that stopped the time stamp change when overcopy synchronization, but if the file is selected during a viewing in Windows Explorer then the Time Stamp is updated to the current date again! A solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated if anybody knows of one. Thanks - - - Shorto

A:*.eml Time Stamp - Select File in Windows Explorer Changes the Modified Date

The Date and Timestamp changing issue in Windows 7 has a two part fix!
1. Disable the Indexing of the *.eml file type in the Indexing Options located by Clicking on "Control Panel" -  "Indexing Options" - Advanced Button - File Types Tab - scroll down to the .eml file type and uncheck the Box then click OK to finish, so
that the Email type of files won't be Indexed.
2. Delete the Registry Entry listed below, be sure to Export and Save the original Key so it could be Restored if something goes wrong!  \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\PropertyHandlers
 and Delete the .eml entry
That should fix the problem with the changing Date/Timestamp of Email Files. For more information read CarlS's WindowsSeven Fourm thread where I also have more input:

This should give you a better understanding on the problem and the Fix. - - - Shorto

Whenever I click on the shortcut to ntl world (UK ISP)the number always has a zero number and a space before the number to dial.
I remove it and try to save it but each time I open the desktop shortcut it is there again. I have tried making a new connection with no success. I have rung the ntlworld helpline and the person I spoke to took me through everything he could (all of which I had already tried) and he admitted he was baffled. I appreciate it is a UK connection but I thought it may be worth a try here.
Many thanks in advance for any help I may be given.
I registered to this board through work but am sending this from the offending machine.

A:strange numbers in dial-up

Check your DialingProperties, it may be putting the 0 in front.

Or Start>Settings>CP>Modem. Right click on the modem and select Properties. then click on DialingProperties.

I am running XP Home SP3 on an Asus 1005HA netbook

Every time I boot up I get a message to say that either I can press F1 to enter setup to set date/time or press F2 to load default values

If I choose F1 and enter the correct date/time and press F10 to save and exit - XP then starts up normally but the next time I boot up, the same problem occurs.

[If I select F2, then XP loads normally]

What can I do to fix this?

Thanks for any help in advance

Your motherboard battery is dead. You can get a new one at any drug store for about $5.
