LONG delay in typing in yahoo mail

Q: LONG delay in typing in yahoo mail

So it may just be a coincidence. I just installed Windows 10 on my PC. And now when I try to type in yahoo mail it only lets me type one letter at a time. Then I get this twirling blue icon indicating it is working on adding that ONE letter to the message. I have never had this problem before.

Has anyone else had this problem. And if so, how might I get yahoo mail to accept letters typed as I type them?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all -

What a pain! Recently I've started having a problem where each time I type a character there is a one second delay before it appears on my Yahoo Messenger window. Logging in and chatting takes forever.

I downloaded trillian and same problem.

I ran Spybot, Microsoft AntiSpyware, AdAware, HijackThis and tons of others. Cleaned up but to no avail. Here's my HijackThis log. Any advice?

Hi everyone,

it happens a lot during typing a mail - it kicks me out to the blank screen ... there is no specific pattern into it: it's random. I do NOT lose what I typed , which is good .
It started happening with a newest Yahoo . I had never experienced it before. Just all of the sudden I am out of the mail. I do NOT need to re-log-in. I just have to hit Escape button to get out of blank screen.
It's a very super annoying problem!!! .

I have no error messages, none, just a kick-out. Ughh... Is it a bug, or something? Does anybody else experience it??

How can I fix this super annoying thing?

Thanks a lot in advance!

For the past week, since 8/18/2004, E-mail that I send to Yahoo and Hotmail via Outlook Express 6, is being delayed. It is only certain addresses. It is taking up to 2 days and occassionally there is a mail failure. Hotmail sends me messages that the mail is being delayed and not to resend, but the recipient never receives it. My E-mail address is not blocked. When I send via internet, all is well. I have no other problems sending or recieivng to others.

Any thoughts?

When I am using FB or Twitter and I type the letter "i" in a comment, Google Chrome (Windows 7) opens up a new tab to my yahoo email account - which starts with the letter "i". [email protected] - it is maddening. I have done nothing to set up a short cut for this to happen. Can anyone help??? I've tried everything. I have to close tab after tab after tab and return each time to the original tab where I was posting in FB or Twitter. It only does it on a lower case "i"... not upper case. Thanks for any advice...

I just installed a clean version of Win 7 Pro on my Thinkpad X200. Everything is great except for one small problem: there is a 25-30 second wait between the time i enter my logon pw and the time my desktop appears. This is highly unusual for several reasons. First, it doesn't "appear" as though Windows is loading anything in that intermittent time. I have even tried waiting 30-40 seconds to enter my password (presumably, Windows loads stuff during this time assuming you will log in), but I still get the 25-30 second delay before seeing my desktop. Second, I ran the RC for about 6 months and didn't have this issue at all. In fact, log on to desktop was almost instantaneous. It almost seems like there's a mandatory 30 second waiting period. Any thoughts on this?

A:Incredibly long delay from long on to desktop

I may be wrong but I read somewhere that there is about a 30 second delay that allows for choosing which OS you want to load. I was thinking that can be change by entering a lower # than 30. (30 seconds) Is your motherboard Asus? I ask that because I just built my new system and my Asus mb has the 30 second delay that I had to change.

Never a problem on my 2 yr old Sony desktop (Windows XP Media Center) or Sony laptop (Windows 98SE).

No, but i can probably tell you that the problem is the 1.60GHz processor. You will probably need atleast 1.80GHz to 2.00GHz clock speed.

Hello everyone ! I have a slight problem with my wifes typing on web pages and that seems to be the only place it takes place does not happen in word or any other software installed just the world wide web. she is using IE 8 due to the fact she will not let me upgrade here system from XP so anyway whenever she starts hammering away over there in he corner the text input on the web page does not keep up with her input on the key board. She has to stop for 2 to 4 seconds and wait for her typing to appear on the screen . Have not had the chance to disable all add ons yet as she always seems to be there when I have a chance to work on her system. I have though run several virus scans and malware scans and so forth and so on but nothing really showing up to amount to anything. Everything goes in fine in word and whatever else she uses just seems to be the web . I hope I have been clear enough to explain the situation so if more info is needed I will do my best to offer and continue to research on.

This happens quite often and usually a reboot fixes the problem but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Once my laptop has been running for a while (day or two) I will notice that when I am pounding away at the keyboard typing there will be a delay until the characters actually show up. Sometimes I am 8-10 characters ahead of what is being displayed on the screen. It makes it real hard to understand if I have typed the correct letter/characters sometimes. If I go to tap the Backspace key a few times to delete it's delayed as well.

When I reboot the problem is gone. Very strange problem and I am sure it's a bug or something that causes a memory leak of some sort somewhere. Call me crazy... LOL!

Anybody else experience this?

I'm curious as to whether yer keyboard is a USB one. Could be the USB port is underpowered or something. You could try plugging your keyboard into another port (if it is USB). Do not plug it into a USB hub. Try plugging it directly into one of the rear ports on your computer.

I am a Wikpedia editor and about a year and a half ago I encountered a problem where when I type something in the edit box, it would take a second before the words actually appeared on the screen. This only happens in wikpedia. So I scanned with Malwarebytes and got a malware and quarantined it. After that the issue was gone. About a week ago the problem came back. But I don't know if it's malware again, because Malwarebytes and Avast couldn't catch it. Please help me get rid of this annoying problem.

This lag doesnt happen always but once it starts, i usually have to restart my pc to get it to stop. Is there something wrong with the intel driver? or what i have no idea!!

Thank you for any insight/suggestions

Hello there, this problem is not extremely important, so by all means, if someone else needs to be helped first, no problem.

When I open firefox 3 or the IE Explorer, and I procede to type in the search bar of any search engine or just the address bar there is a slight delay in when I type to when the typed shows up on the screen. Just wanted to know if there is any remedy to this situation.

Steps I have taken....

1. I have just rebounded from a devistating virus attack. Thanks to your forums and Simon I was able to get things cleaned up.

2. I am using clamwin as anti virus

3. I am always scanning my pc for malwar via spybot, ad aware and other such programs as well.

If you need a greater detail for what I have done in reguards to the virus there is probably a way you can link to my other posts in the other forum.

Let me know, and thanks again in advance.

I just got this HP Pavilion x360 (the convertible laptop/tablet) last week, and I've been having troubles with the keyboard. On certain websites, such as this one, there is no typing delay. However, on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Word Online, the characters I'm typing DO NOT appear on the screen at the same time that I'm typing them. It either freezes for a second and then quickly inputs all of what I've typed, or it just takes a few seconds longer for each key I press to show up on the screen. I've checeked to make sure Filterkeys isn't enabled and that no extensions are running in the browser. This happens in both Microsoft Edge and Chrome. P.S. when I was registering for an HP support account, I just realized that the @ key and the " are switched. So shift+2 gives me an ", and shift+" gives me an @ sign. Please help! I really like the computer other than this horrible typing lag.

Check task manager to see what % your CPU is running. You may have some malware or failty software that is occupying almost all the CPU time.

When I restart or turn on my lap top after it's been off for a while it will only give me my background picture. No icons, no start menu at the bottom, nothing. Until I try to run a new task from the task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL is the only keystroke-type command I know) Then everything starts appearing as if nothing was wrong. When I type online there is a huge delay between when I push the buttons and when they appear on the screen. My virus scans show nothing is wrong. (I use trend-mirco's firewall and virus scanning products and also use firefox and I don't know if trend-micro only works on internet explorer or not...) I tried defragmenting to try and speed up the typing ting but it did no good... I don't know what is wrong but I do know that I can't get the updates from the updates.microsort.com website even though they are in the trusted websites thing in internet explorer (which is what I used to try and get the updates because you can't get them through firefox) and every time I open the computer (even from stand-by) I get a message from trend micro telling me it is stopping unauthorized changes and that change is some sort of "program Library Injection" that has to be blocked about a hundred times in a minute for the first 2 to 5 minutes of the computer being on. I don't know what is wrong but I do know that something is not right.

Hi all.

I come now with a new problem. I pretended for some time I did not care, but that is now making me pull the hair from my head.

I installed something (which I did not pay attention to at that time and I don't remember what it was) and too many other programs after that (programs I constantly use, and therefore I don't want to get rid of). If I roll back my computer to an earlier time to dismiss this problem, I would be uninstalling all those valuable programs I am talking about.

Since the first installation, when I select in excel (using the mouse), when I am typing in Word, Internet or whatever other program, things stop working. There is a delay in response. I type, but I don't see what is just typed on the screen, because the computer freezes undexpectedly, and then it comes with the whole thing at once. In the meantime, I could have made a mistake in typing, but because I couldn't see it right away on the screen, I cannot be sure if I made it, and have to wait until the computer 'defreezes' back and keeps working along.
The delay doesn't last too long, but it's frequent and recurrent. So it's always there. It is a pain in the neck, and I am being very decent to say it.

It is not the Ram, because I have plenty of it. It is not the speed of the chip, because my computer is not old. It is not a wrong installation of the programs I installed because everything works fine at the end. It is just that freaking delay that re... Read more

The "new improved" Yahoo Mail isn't. In fact, it's vexing, mortifyingly slow, and no longer allows open folders while creating new messages so you can't copy and paste with both items open. Since Yahoo won't permit going back to the old, reliable version. So, I'm seriously considering a switch to Mozilla's Thunderbird v 24.0.1 on my Win7-64 desktop and my wife's Win7-64 laptop. She uses the paid version of Yahoo and I'm on the free version.

Once I get Thunderbird going, does anyone know how I can:
get mail addressed to me at Yahoo forwarded to me in Thunderbird?
import my Yahoo contacts into Thunderbird?
import my Yahoo folders and their contacts into Thunderbird?
I'm not a techie, so I'd greatly appreciate learning how I can go about this. Thanks in advance.

When I input something with my keyboard, the touchpad/trackpoint doesn't accept any clicking for about ~0.5 seconds. Its a small delay but it is driving me insane. T460 laptop, Synaptics Clickpad V1.1 Things I've tried:-  Reinstalling drivers, and restarting laptop. Nothing changed.-  Turned palm rejection to minimum. This fixes an earlier problem where the mouse would stop moving with keyboard presses, but it doesn't affect the clicking delay.-  Went into the registry editor, found 'synaptics' under 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' but couldn't find any variables that indicate a delay after keyboard presses. I'd really appreciate any help with this. ~3 hours of googling isn't helping me. Thanks in advance.

I have Windows XP Home SP2 and Vista Business SP1 on a dual boot laptop.

When I boot to XP, it loads the desktop but only the bare minium programs (network, volume control), at this point I can see the desktop icons and everything, it then pauses for 5-10+ minutes after which, it proceeds to load the startup programs.

If I try to launch any program whilst it is in the paused state, it instant crashes and I have to force power off by holding the power button.

If I startup with the network cable unplugged or router off, XP boots up very quickly as normal (no pause). However, when I plug the network cable in and run anything (or even right click the system tray) it instant crashes.

Vista boots up fine with no problems.

I have only the basic apps launching on startup and have run Spybot + AVG regularly with no threats, I also have the Zone Alarm Pro firewall running.

Any ideas? I would appreciate some help greatly since I've spent nearly $3,000 on this laptop.

Ever since I built my computer it has this annoying delay on startup. When I push the power button I see the normal Screen to let me into bios and then a black screen for about 60 sec. After that Xp boots quite fast. during the delay there is no noticable hard drive activity. I tried modifying msconfig/startup, my hard drive is first to boot in bios, I've optimzed with Bootvis.exe, and so on.
If anyone can help that would be great.

A:Long Startup Delay!

Greetings Pistonhead76, and Welcome to TSF!

I noticed in your post that you mentioned that you have your Hard Drive as the first boot in BIOS.

The proper order of booting in BIOS should be: 1st: Floppy, 2nd: IDE/HDD, 3rd: CD-ROM. If you do not have a floppy disc; then the Boot order should be: 1st: CD-ROM, 2nd: IDE/HDD, 3rd: other.

Try this combination as see if there is any improvement. Post back with the results.

I've noticed recently that when I startup in Windows XP there is often (about 75-85% of the time) a substantial delay before I am able to actually access any functionality. What happens is that XP loads the background, desktop icons, and it starts to run programs in the system tray. I can see the taskbar/quicklaunch bar but when I mouse over either the quicklaunch bar or the start menu I get an hourglass. The system then just seems to sit there, sometimes for several minutes, before the system tray finishes loading and I'm able to start running programs.

I think, though I'm not positive, that this behavior started shortly after I upgraded to SP2.

Also, if it is any use, here is what is running at startup (courtesy of Startup Inspector for Windows):

Spyware Guard
ATIPTA (ATI Radeon Control Panel)
DadApp (something from Dell for programmable buttons)
AVG_CC (AVG control panel)
Openwares Live (used for Spyware Guard live update)

If anybody can help me out with this I'd appreciate it a ton. Thanks very much.

Hi to all,
Regulars here will probably have seen this problem before, but I read through the first several pages and didn't see it addressed there.

I just got a Win7 computer (Toshiba portege r700-s1310) and when I try to download a file or upload anything, either, I get a 30 second (or so) delay. The little blue circle appears and everything locks up.

Is there anything obvious that I can do?

Totally unrelated issue:
I have a "ghost" bubble, the kind you would see if a comic strip character were speaking, that's continuously in my lower right hand corner. Here's an image.
Any suggestions to get rid of that?

Thanks very much in advance.

Hi everyone

I fixed the mum's PC by dealing with CPU is unworkable or has changed, Press F1 to continue by changing User defined to the original default setting and my setting has caused POST to load really slowly and sometimes it takes 10 min to finish POST before starting Windows.

I tried to reset the CMOS setting via jumper and still same slowing loading.

All my thought are left is to update the BIOS, everything has been saved on USB because I'm working on her PC to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 8

I checked the CPU temperature and its. 54'c. Think this is bit too high for a CPU. (Intel Pentium 4 3.00 GHz)

So my only opinion is to update the motherboard as I know currently is version 11 and abit download for this motherboard have version 16.

Or its not motherboard but a CPU? I'm not sure

The problem I am having is that when I first start a program there is about a 60 second delay. I see this every time I try to edit a text file using UltraEdit. The program starts to open and then just sits there. The hard drive LED stops being lit and when I check to see which Processes are running in the Task Manager the only thing I see is the System Idle Process at 99 but the CPU Usage is only like 2%. Once the file does open in the program everything does work just fine like there is no problem. The same happens with programs like Microsoft Excel.

I have deleted Temporary Internet Files and Browsing History etc. from within I.E.. I have Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition running on this computer. The PC is a IBM ThinkPad T42 notebook with XP SP2. I installed and ran Ad-Aware; no change. I did a Defrag. It just seems like there is some Malware that Symantec and Ad-Aware is not detecting. Thanks for your help.

This PC recently started to experience long delays before web pages attempt to load. Firefox will display "Looking up ***.***.com" and similarly IE shows "Waiting for ***.***.com". The pages load quickly once they begin to load, but there is a five second delay before that happens.

I've done the basics of deleting all temp files and cookies, etc., scanned for viruses with McAfee enterprise and scanned for spyware with SpyBot. Nothing was found.

Other computers plugged into this same ethernet cable do not experience this problem, so something is obviously not quite right.

I have an Asus K70AB that will if given about 5 to 20 minutes after pressing the power button, will boot. At times, it will display it going through the BIOS setup, other times it will just display going straight to the 'loading windows' screen. And I have tried researching into this matter, but up to this point I have not been able to find anything that would explain as to why my computer is behaving this way nor a solution as to cut this delay in the computer booting to the login screen. I'd greatly appreciate any help you all may have, thanks.

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Will the PC actually boot into the BIOS or Windows? Or does it get stuck on the loading screens?

I run XP Pro...recently updated to SP3...now anytime I load an MS Office program (I use Office 2000) especially Excel, it takes forever to load the file....same thing with printing from Eudora...seems like the computer is searching for something....wait...wait....then the file finally loads or the Print window appears for selecting the printer. Is this something in SP3 than can be corrected?

I have a yahoomail account. It is set up so that I can email using Outlook. I've been using this account exactly as it is since July without any problems.

However, since last Friday, I've noticed loooooong delays after I send an email via Outlook.

For example, I sent an email to myself via outlook at 10.30 this morning and just received it now at 1.15pm. I sent an intial test email to myself before this 10.30 message and I'm still waiting for that to arrive in my inbox. When I log directly into my yahoomail account, the message doesn't appear there either...My outbox is clear too and no error messages.

I've tried emailing by logging directly into my yahoomail account instead of outlook -- last Friday, those emails took a really long time to go through, too.
But today, I have no problem sending emails via yahoomail, but anything I've sent through outlook still hasn't appeared in my outlook inbox (or in my yahoomail inbox if I log in to check that way)!

I have NO problems receiving emails! (and while I had a problem sending emails last week and today, I had no problems/delays on Monday...)

Any ideas of how to fix this? A friend suggested that Yahoo may be running scans/virus checks on my outlook emails...I chatted with their support people and they didn't seem to think it was a problem on Yahoo's end...

A:Long delay when emailing through Outlook

If outlook is sending then it's a problem on yahoo's end.

This is probably an Intel problem but since Intel no longer supports my MoBo, here goes.
Intel 82801GH I/O Controller Hub (ICH7DH) SATA Controller in IDE mode. W7, SP1, Home Premium, 32 bit. Plextor DVDR PX-L890A ATA Device. HD and CD-ROM both connected to black connectors on Intel D975XBX2 MoBo. BIOS set on default.

With CD-ROM connected POST proceeds normally until it gets to "EB" test where it hangs for 2 minutes then proceeds to integrate with the OS. When integration complete, the CD-ROM and OS operate normally.

If I disconnect the CD-ROM from the black connector, POST and integration proceed normally and rapidly.

Any ideas/insights appreciated.

A:Long Delay Between POST and OS Integration

Not sure but it may be that your cd drive is the first thing that your pc looks to to start, plus on some MOBO's you can specify how long the delay is.
You need to check your boot order and if the cd drive is first change it to second in the list.

Hi, When I start my HP Pavilion g7, os boot manager takes very long delay (45sec) before Windows logo is displayed and windows starts booting. So to make it clear, screen with HP logo with circle below rotating is displayed more than 45sec. I recently replace original drive with SSD drive and upgrade BIOS to F.2A. I also played with BIOS settings; restore defaults, disable secure boot and enable legacy support, nothing helped. I also notice some strange behavior, when I put my original drive back into notebook, 1st start was reasonably fast (few seconds), but next boot was same as before.ResgardsBrumela

Problem solved, caused by Avast 7, fixed by installing latest Avast 7 RC(Beta 7.0.1412)

Hi, I am using Windows 7 x64 on a pretty fast machine(2600k, 8GB RAM, GTX580), and suffering from a very weird problem, this problem appears only on a fresh install of Win 7, it was fine on my previous install of the same win 7 x64(which was around 8 months old), let me explain.

I am connected to the internet via a modem, but I have to dial a connection using PPPOE dialler(that comes with windows), now when the modem is switched on but the connection is not established there is a significant delay in launching any application after opening them from explorer(double click, or open from start menu, or context menu). There is no hard disk activity during this delay. On further investigation I food that two windows process, System and svchost are trying to connect to internet during this time, the application is launched after they either get a confirmation or a request timeout. System process is Listening on multiple ports while svchost is attempting to ping my dns servers. And applications will only launch if it fails or succeeds, if the internet is connected then it works fine(as it gets a response), or if I disconnect the LAN cable then it also works as system detects no connection and does not attempt to ping any servers but if the LAN cable is connected but no connection established then all goes to hell, the internet request takes some time to register a timeout and during tha... My first though is if we could get your computer on line things would get better.
Suggestion remove your anti virus and firewall and install MSE and use the built in Window 7 firewall. Give that a try. Avast or Comodo could be stopping you for the internet. Next I would go to msconfig and check Start up and let us know what is checked. While your in msconfig go to Services. Put a check mark in Hide all Microsoft Services. Let us know what is check there. My thoughts behind this is you might have a bunch of things starting at boot that don't need to and a bunch of 3rd party services that don't need to be running calling home checking for updates.
How fast is your internet speed when it does connect?
Thanks for filling in your computer specs, it does help.

I'm using Win XP SP2, yesterday i was running Ad-Aware Personal Edition to clean for spywares, when the process was done it tells me it needs to restart to remove some spayware, i did it, and now my Win XP boots, and after the "welcome" screen y can only see my wallpaper image and there is a very shot a HD activity like little blinks (about 0.5 a second delays). Nothing loads, no start bar, no desktop icons. Only my pointer en the wallpaper. If i leave it that way i takes more than 30 minutes and the loading resumes (HD activity never pauses for the 30 min) like it is reading all my HD (?)

Now every time i restart win XP I had to open the Taskmonitor (ctrl-alt-del) while there is only my desktop wallpaper and I choose to end "mscrl32.exe" process and sudenlly Win XP loads instantly.

Can anyone help me? I've tried to run in safe mode it happens the same. I've run MSCONFIG also and disable all startup apps including "mscrl32.exe" but no luck either. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi all, I've got a very annoying problem with my Windows XP bootup which hopefully someone can help me with. I installed Windows XP Pro OEM onto a newly partitioned and formatted hard drive, but each time Windows boots up there is a delay of 10 minutes. The delay occurs just after the PC checks the floppy and CD-Rom drives for bootable disks. The PC will hang on a black screen for 10 minutes and then proceed to load Windows XP, first showing a row of white/grey progress bars at the bottom of the screen and then showing the Windows loading screen. XP seems to work fine once it's loaded, but the 10 minute wait is driving me mad! I'm using the following hardware:

Abit KG7-Lite Motherboard
ATI Radeon Graphics Card
Creative SoundBlaster PCI 16
AMD Athlon 900MHz

The problem started with the first reboot during Windows setup and happens every time I start Windows XP. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance.
