Windows 7 Sound gone after Sleep mode Help

Q: Windows 7 Sound gone after Sleep mode Help

Hello dear friends,

There is a weird sound issue:
When I put my Pc on sleep mode and after wake-up the sound is gone and videos are lagging (1frame per 2 seconds). In device manager, it says all audio drivers are working properly, only restarting the PC fix the problem.

But I definitely need to use Sleep mode and that sound issue is really annoying.

Special thanks to helpers.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello Martin,

Have you tried to update the drivers for your Integrated Realtek Sound device?

I would have help you find them, but I do not see a manufacturer listed in your specs.

I'm getting no sound after resuming from S1 sleep mode in Windows 8 and the only way to fix this is to either physically unplug the audio cable and plug it back in or restart the computer. I tried the audio troubleshooter and it could not find any problems and there is nothing to fix. I need to reconnect the audio cable every time the computer wakes up from sleep unless I restart the computer. I have an EVGA X58 motherboard with a Realtek ALC889 audio chip. I'm using the latest R2.70 audio driver from EVGA which is the same version as on the Realtek website.

I am having this exact same problem. I too, have recently upgraded to Windows 8 and updated my Bios. I also updated my Realtek drivers to the newest drivers. Oddly, I think my problem occurred after the updates. I do not think it was doing this using the Windows 8 stock driver. So it was either the new bios update or the Realtek driver (High Definition Driver (3.50) R2.70) update that introduced the problem. I may try rolling back the driver and see if the problem persists.

Might sound like a daft topic title but bear with me.

After my upgrade to 8.1 Pro my computer lost the ability to sleep/hibernate. After following many tips on here (thanks guys), I managed to get sleep & hibernation onto the shutdown menu so manual operatin works okay.

The automatic mode is still a work in progress but I'm wondering if I've managed to get it to go into automatic sleep mode but not as yet hibernation.

I prefer to use hibernation so don't really know alot about sleep mode - I've got it configured to go into hibernation (10 minutes ) before sleep (15 minutes) in the power options.

After a period of time the computer will automatically attempt to enter either sleep or hibernation mode - not sure which. The screen switches off and the cpu increases in volume as if its consuming more power. The blue light flashes slowly which to me signifies that it has entered sleep mode. The computer has in effect shut down but sounds like its in overdrive with either the cpu or fan going ten to the dozen. Clicking the mouse wakes it up and brings it back to the sign-on screen.

So what's going on here? Is this a failed attempt at sleep mode as trying manual sleep brings the same result. It certainly doesn't go into automatic hibernation which is something I'm ultimately trying to resolve.

So I'm not sure if I've solved automatic sleep or not as its unbearably noisy and not something I can put up with.

A:What does sleep mode sound like?

Are you sure it is the CPU fan or could it be the Graphics Card fan? In any event, can you open an elevated command prompt (eg, run as admin) and input the following message so we can check your available sleep states:

powercfg -a

Hello, I have recently installed windows 7 on my laptop and i am having the same problem i had with the beta. Upon start up, the audio works fine but after i close my laptop and it goes into sleep mode, when i come back and open it the audio no longer works. I cant hear anything. Hello, Welcome to the Forums!

Try typing msinfo.exe into the run box and it should show you your specs. Alternatively, you could download Speccy, and it will make things a lot easier.

After you find your sound card, try going to the manufacturer's site and downloading drivers for it. They are usually located in the support section.

Hope this help,

I am having problems with my onboard sound not working after my computer wakes up from sleep. I need to restart the computer to get any sound in the speakers again.

Note that this is regarding my motherboard in which I have my speakers plugged in. My headset works fine after sleep, they are plugged into a Creative SB Audigy sound card.

When the onboard sound is not working after sleep, I can not even start playing music, as if I there were no sound card installed.

I have found some "solutions" in various forums, but it haven't helped me (and most of them was regarding specific laptop models anyways).

Please help me if you can.

Do the headphones work with the intergated card? Have you considered plugging the speakers into the working card and the headphones into the intergrated one?

Greetings to all of you,

I've used Windows 7 RC for 3 days now, and quite love it actually. But, from the moment I installed it, I had a weird issue. Whenever my computer (laptop/notebook (whatever you call it where you're from)) goes into sleep mode, (as it was configured by default after xx minutes (can't remember)), as soon as I wake it up, it appears to have "lost" the sound driver, as it says: "no audio output device is installed". But when I restart, I can use audio speakers with no problem.

(took a while to find out problem was sleep mode, because with laptop/notebook I do --> close lid, unplug power cable -->move somewhere --> plug in power cable --> leave it for 30 minutes...... )

Summary, computer goes to sleep mode --> wake up --> audio driver is unavailable --> no sound output until restart.

A:sleep mode causes sound issues

I just installed Windows 7 RC ed. on a laptop and PC. Not only when it goes to sleep, but also on Hibernation, it would be safe to say that any form of shutdown that is not a complete SHUTDOWN tend to bring up this problem. I don't find the driver dissapeared. Only the sound muted, as I can still manage to display the sound properties and watch that little green bar activate whenever a sound emerges from the software. Simply, the sound is muted, but no I don't see any drivers dissapearing. It's bad on my laptop cause I frequently put her to sleep. I gotta restart it if I wanna hear some monster slashin on my WOW game.

Hello i have a windows 7 pc with the a sound card capable of listening to line in sound. i currently have my att uverse box connected to my pc and my pc connected to my stereo system this way i can play my sound through both systems. While i am sure that there a is hardware specifically designed for channeling sound in this way i'm lazy and don't feel like buying them. My only problem is that i have to keep my pc on at all times for the tv sound to remain on. I was wondering if theres a way to keep audio on in sleep mode/away mode that way my computer would remain in a low power state and i would still be able to hear audio on tv.

ATT BOX ==audio== PC line in====PC line out====Stereo

btw the reason i did this is because i don't have a tv and have two monitors so one monitor is on a dvi switch.

A:is it possible? Keeping sound on in sleep mode?

No, that's not possible. The audio doesn't just simply go in and back out - it's actually put through the chip on the soundcard, i.e. digitized, mixed with any other sounds, then turned back into an analog signal before being put out.

Obviously, none of that happens when the system is asleep.

You might simply get an Y-cable which takes the outputs from your PC and the U-Verse box and combines them into one signal for your stereo system. That way either sound source can be heard independently from the other one (but also together).

Don't be lazy.

Whenever i turn the computer on after it has been asleep the sound will not play. It will not play in WMP 11 or in itunes 8. It also says that the test for the sound cant play. Then when you go into the sound control panel it says no audio devices are installed. I have installed the newest driver I could find and it still does it. The thing is, if I restart (the computer) the sound works fine. Or if i install the driver it works fine until the computer goes to sleep.

I have vista Home Premium x64 (service pack 1), AMD Phenom Quad, Nvidia 9800GT video card, Asus M2N-SLI 560 Nforce motherboard, 4 gigs of ram, and the built in sound card is a c-media cm6501. If you need to know more let me know.

Have Sony VGN-CR220E with Vista Home Edition with sound problems.

All original software and hardware. Device manager says sound is working properly. Reinstalled original driver doesn't help. Volume is up, no signs of virus/bug/malware activity. VAIO Hardware Diagnostic test reports no problems. Driver version Has been a problem for almost a year, very consistent problem.

Whether it is netflix, itunes, windows media player, youtube, mouse clicks, or internal sound alerts from the PC...all sounds period coming out of the speaker do not work unless I enter it into sleep mode.

Coming out of sleep mode it works great...until...I try to play a new song, new video, or anything new. Sometimes I might get to play two things back to back with sound, not needing to enter sleep mode, but it is very rare. The same browser can be open (both iexplorer and firefox the same)...and going from one youtube video to another requires activating sleep mode, then hitting the power button to come out of sleep mode.

Any ideas?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. HP desktop model h8-1234. This is all I know of my audio which according to the update driver option, and Microsoft update, it is up to date:
 sound.JPG   44.27KB

I have all the latest and optional updates to my PC using Microsoft update. I just bought this computer less than a week ago, so no real modifications to the system. If I put it into sleep mode for only a few minutes, the audio does not disappear. If it's in sleep mode for several hours, like when I sleep, there is no audio upon waking the computer. I read that for some people the audio driver disappears. That is not the case for me because the above pic was taken right now after returning from sleep mode with no sound. Also, I can go test my headphones using the audio thing and I'll get the little windows tune from here:
 sound 2.JPG   36.74KB

But when I try to test the speakers section there is no sound as seen here:
 sound 3.JPG   36.86KB

The only way to solve this problem is to restart my computer and obviously that defeats the purpose of sleep mode.

Forgot to mention that I'm using headphones with 2 lines into the computer, one for the audio and the other for the mic. I do not have speakers.

A:No sound after returning from sleep mode.

The only way to solve this problem is to restart my computer and obviously that defeats the purpose of sleep mode.I have never used sleep mode, and I feel that I have never needed this feature on any computer.Since it seems that there are usually more problems caused by this application on most computers, I still stand by my original decision -Why do you need or want Sleep/Stand By/Hibernate to operate, and do you feel that there is a problem with turning a computer off when finished working. If I ever leave a computer for several hours, I will always shut it down, and often turn it off at the wall also. Just my personal opinion -

So, I have the X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card, and I've never had any problems with my sound. Nothing has ever acted up or anything.

I've recently tore my system down, and put it back together. and now for some reason my sound is acting up. It still works, but not all the time. Also my Internet is acting up the same way also.

so, everything was all good. and after rebuild Now when I put the system to sleep, when I wake it up I get a Windows message saying something about Windows something didn't respond. and my volume symbol in system tray is X'd Out. I have no sound. but if I wait about 20-30 seconds it just turns on all of a sudden, like the X-Fi is waking up slower than the computer is. But this has never happened in the past. So it works, but it's delayed. Same thing with my Internet, it's never had a problem. but now when I wake system up from sleep mode, the net doesn't work. and I hoped it would turn on like the sound does, but it doesn't. So I have to either Restart PC, or I can unplug, and replug in the Ethernet cable. then it works fine.

I'm not sure why both of these items are acting up, but they have never done this is the past.

Does anyone know why either of these things would be happening?

A:Problem with X-Fi Sound After Wake Up From Sleep Mode

Quite bizzare, I suffer from very similar issues to you after waking from sleep.

I also have an X-Fi card and I also recently rebuilt my machine. Now when I wake from sleep the Audio comes on straight away but it sounds fuzzy. The network connection then takes an age to re-establish, it's actually quicker for me to reboot.

The audio sorts itself out if I changed through the Entertainement, Game and Audio creation modes.

I haven't got anywhere in resolving this, apart from disabling my PC from going to sleep

Hello, my computer (an 8510w HP laptop) doesn't play sound after returning from sleep mode (didn't test with hibernation but would suspect similar). The computer thinks it is and shows everything is well when checking the device manager and testing sound it will show the volume output for the played sound. So I'm curious if anyone has any ideas as to how this works.

Now I may have solved my problem, or learned more about it when I did the following:

Rightclicked on the speaker icon => Playback Devices => Opened Speakers => Advanced tab => Changed the sound quality; I got a message saying another program was using the speakers at the moment and asked me if I wanted to stop it. I said yes and the sound began working again as normal. I then got a message from S proxy I believe, which is either something I don't know of or its part of the Saver2 program for pandora.

Anyway that's what I know, any thoughts?

A:Sound doesn't work after sleep mode

After looking into this a bit I found a few people were able ot solve this problem by disabling Driver Level Enhancements.

Ever since I installed Windows 7 on my previously XP run laptop I have had sound issues.

- After I resume my laptop from sleep mode I get no more sound eventhough the taskbar volume indicator clearly shows the sound volume flashing.
I have to restart my laptop to get the sound working again.

-Also when I plug in a headphone into my laptop the sound goes dead.
If I start up my laptop with a headphone plugged in it works fine untill I unplug it and then guess what, sound no more .

In device manager under audio it is listed as High Definition Audio Device and according to Windows is functioning properly and up to date.

Furthermore Windows 7 has been working like a charm except for this flaw.
Are any of you familiar with this issue and know of a remedy?
Thanks for any advice.

Despite Device Manager saying that your sound driver is up to date, it most likely is not.

Update it from here: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...k/as_5670.html (select the Realtek Sound driver in the drop down list).

Also, by having no Service Packs installed you are missing many critical updates. I do not think that the lack of service packs is causing this issue but it would pay to update sooner rather than later.

Hi guys,
         I have a Lenovo G500 Laptop .
I accidentally deleted the OS drive(Win 8) resulting in installation of an Unregistered version of Windows7 OS. Since the day I have installed it,I noted that the Sleep mode is greyed out. Then the Sound wasn't working even after repeated reboots..I found that when I put my Laptop for Hibernate and wake it up the Sound would come up.I knew it was a temporary solution however I continued working in the same way.Of late, whenever I try to wake my PC from Hibernation,it displays a blank black screen and only when I remove the battery that the PC boots to the Desktop screen lest with Sound not working. One could hear the Windows Welcome Sound when it boots to the Login screen but the Sound services do not work after the Desktop screen comes up.
Also, I do not have the Factory OS disc and it is Out of Warranty.

If you are using a copy of Windows 7 downloaded from the Internet (e.g Windows 7 ultimate) you may find all sorts of issues.     If your system came with Windows 8.1, I would recommend you just re-install Windows 8.1.    You can get the Windows 8.1 Installation Media for Installer for Windows 8.1 for free from Microsoft using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool.    Your Product ID for Windows 8.1 is stored in the BIOS, and should be automatically detected during installation unless a sticker was applied with the Product Key. As far as the symptoms you are describing, it sounds like a driver issue, so you can try to update your drivers, but I would try to reinstall 8.1 if it were me.

I am using the realtek onboard sound that came with my Gigabyte MB. Sometimes when I wake the computer up, it says that I disconnected the sound. However the speakers are still connected. Even if I plug in a set of headphones that I know work, the system will not recognize them. If I restart the PC the speakers are found again(it doesn't state this, I just have the sound back).

I have tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. I downloaded the newest drivers from Gigabytes website and it still has the same issue.

By the way I am just using analog speakers.

So yesterday while watching a DVD on my PC I noticed that moving the mouse on the screen created a sound distortion/noise of some sort... I ignored it, and now the sound is everywhere! Whenever there's sound, through any sound application, though mostly through iTunes (latest version), it's just there w/o even moving a mouse now. When I'm doing something through like browsing forums it gets much worse.

It can't be my sound card/drivers because I have a USB DAC and when I used it the sound was still there, and it can't be the speakers too because I used headphones with that DAC.

Even more depressing is that lately my PC can't wake up from sleep correctly sometimes. I click the mouse and it starts, but there's no video to the monitor! I try to shut down or restart over and over until I get video feedback and it's on an error screen talking about a system error last time or restart failure or whatever, and I continue to vista.

I thought it could be my HDD, I have two partitions, one on C for vista/programs and D for media stuff like iTunes and both have no errors. I tried checking the second option last night for the D drive, scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, it got stuck at 5000 and I went to sleep but when I woke up the PC was in sleep mode and again I had to restart/shut down half a dozen times to get back into vista.

Oh, and the PC also randomly shuts down or sleeps, not even sure which sometimes, like every few day... Read more

Hi everyone,I have just bought c940 device with 1tb, 16RAM, and FullHD screen. The notebook itself is great and everything is working as it should. However, I have noticed that when I close the lid and Yoga goes into the sleep mode (power button is flashing white), there are strange clicking sounds when you take the device with its bottom plate (where the fans are located) closely to your ear and listen carefully. It's basically similar to your clock ticking, but it goes a little faster and that sound is really quite. You won't be able to hear it unless your Yoga is in front of your ear.  Could someone please try the same steps as I described (and listen to those sounds) to see if it's a common behavior or it's just mine device? I would appreciate that!

When my computer comes back from sleep mode, it intermitently makes a whooshing sound. Is this the drive spinning up? It only happens after coming back from sleep mode. If the computer never goes into sleep mode, the problem doesn't occur. Is this something serious or should I just live with it?

A:Computer makes whoosing sound after coming back from sleep mode

It will probably be both the drives and the cooling fans combined, in which case that's normal unless it's only recently started making that noise even though you've been using sleep mode previously and the noise did not occur on wake-up.

Provided everything is working okay and you are getting no BSODs or other crashes, all will be normal.

I can't get any sound from the device but it still shows up in my device manager. When I restart my computer everything is normal and working again.

Any help would be great!

I just had the fan replaced, and now when I use F4 to put the laptop in sleep mode and then close the lid, it remains in sleep mode when I open the lid.  Same thing occurs when I close the lid (no F4) for sleep mode and then open the lid.  However, when I select Sleep on the Windows 7 Start Menu and close the lid, the laptop does resume when I open the lid. NOTES:- Before replacing the fan, I used F4 for sleep and resume, because when I close the lid I would sometimes find the fan running the next morning- BIOS is up-to-date- Keyboard and mouse are set to wake PC- Power Options Settings:   - Allow hybrid sleep set to OFF and Hibernate set to NEVER (As they always have been)   - USB Settings > Disabled USB selective suspend settings  (These were enabled) While this isn't a huge problem, I would like to have things working as before, preferably without having to go back to the Lenovo certified shop. Thank you in advance for your help. Jeff

I've had this problem intermittently on my laptop for the past 2 years however it has been occuring more often recently.

Basically sometimes when I click the sleep button on Windows 7, the screen fades to black as usual. However the fan keeps running (sounds like when it's on full load) and the power button light stays on endlessly. I always have to force shut it down and restart it.

What can be the issue?

A:Laptop freezes between entering sleep mode to being in sleep mode

Hi joseph10444.

Such a situation may occur when some driver (mostly the PnP device drivers depending on the ACPI configuration) fail to response within a stipulated time period during the power state change.

Let us see some data. Upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :
Download and execute Driverview
View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
Edit > Select all
File > Save Selected Items
In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
Zip the .txt file and upload it.
Those files will give us a closer look to the issue.

You mean automatically or from the start menu? The sleep button in the start menu appears when you've installed all of the updates for Windows 10. If you want Windows 10 to sleep automatically after a certain amount of time, you will need to go into the Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options>Change when the computer sleeps.

I am trying to get my PC to be woken from sleep by the keyboard. My keyboard and mouse are both USB devices so I have gone into my bios to enable USB devices to wake PC from sleep.

Now though my PC wont go into sleep mode all it does is breifly enter sleep mode then straight away comes back out of it, is there any thing that can be done to get around this problem.

From what I can gather there is no fix for this, but as there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum I thought I would ask.

Computer Won't goto sleep ?
here is why and how to fix it

By default Windows 7 has media sharing turned on ( for xbox , ps3) ect

this pervents it from going into standby Mode

The Fix is Simple

Open control panel and goto

Power Options > change Plan settings > Advanced Power Settings

Allow hybrid Sleep > disabled
Allow wake timers > disable/enable try both settings

USB selective suspend > ENABLE

+When Shareing media [ This is the critical one ]

Set to allow the computer to sleep

Upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. It goes into Sleep mode fine but anytime push a key to come back out of it.. it does nothing and has to be reset. Also it stops loading windows upon the first reset (the circles stop moving when says Loading Windows) then just stays on that screen which requires the reset button to be hit a second time.. finally moving past the loading circles to get to the desktop each time..

I downloaded the latest BIOS version which is a .cab file but trying to update it, says that the cab file cannot be read. Let me know if you need anymore information. Thanks for the help!

Hello there.

I upgraded from Windows 8 automatically without a fresh install. Before I upgraded, Windows 8 would go into sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity.

Since then, I have tried many things to get sleep mode to work.

This is my powercfg -energy report.

I`ve only started using windows 7 with a while but i noticed that if i`m downloading something with flashget the pc goes into sleep mode if i`m not doing anything else with the pc. When i come back to it and take it out of sleep mode and log in the download continues but the download was stopped while the pc was in sleep mode.
Is there a way of turning off sleep mode while an application is running?

My Win7 PC has recently stopped powering off in sleep mode. I ran powercfg/energy in command prompt, which gave me a report with 6 errors which state:
"USB Suspend:USB Device not Entering Suspend"
, and one which says:
"Platform Power Management Capabilities:PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) Disabled
PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) has been disabled due to a known incompatibility with the hardware in this computer."

I have googled for answers as much as I can, but with my very low level IT experience, I've yet to fix the problem.

So far I've tried:
updating drivers for all USB devices in device manager (they were all apparently up to date)
checked powersave options

Can somebody suggest other things I should look into?
The main point is that to the best of my knowledge, I haven't installed anything new or changed any settings on my PC (I've been away for a month, but it was powering down fine the first few days on my return).
I'm wondering if some kind of software update could be the cause, but what I'm most worried about is if I've had some kind of a security breach during the course of trawling the internet (I'm using Bit Defender on auto pilot mode, nothing's been reported so far).

Hope someone can enlighten me. Thanks for your time.

A:Windows 7 not going to sleep mode

Additional info:
I just witnessed something else - the PC DOES power down after 30mins of idleness, but then immediately powers up again (I can hear the fan whirring even though the pc and monitor appear to be in sleep mode).

Hello just installed Windows 10 a few weeks ago and coming from Windows 7 I really love it had to get a book because it's so much to learn but I'm really enjoying it. The only problem I'm really having is that after installing a few applications windows
10 is now not going into the sleep mode. I read on Cnet about this problem that it might be an application that's running that's not allowing Windows to possibly go into the sleep mode. Hoping someone can help point me in the right direction to get this resolved.
Why is there no forum for Windows !0?? Hope I'm in the right place. Thanks!

Brand new Windows 7 system from Dell and I have a problem almost every time I try & bring it out of sleep mode. Occasionally, it won't come out at all. Frequently, it will come out, allow me to enter my password, the desktop appears ok, but then everything completely freezes. Once, it has also adjusted my monitor resolutions. Every time, a hard reset is needed. Anyone any ideas please?

Hello. I have HP Pavillion laptop. I also have Vista. I have never had this issue before. But when I put my computer to sleep, i can wake it up but there will be nothing on the screen and I can't do anything. When I close the laptop and open it, it gives me the same issue. I set it to sleep when I close the laptop. I think it may be due to a recent file that I deleted. Every time I boot my pc I get this icon in my taskbar that says some start up programs have been blocked. In my case there was only one. I don't remember what it was called but I do know that it starts with the letter "g" and ends with a number. What can I do?

A:Windows Vista Sleep Mode

by the way when I said nothing on the screen, i meant that it would be blank. The screen would be black. It looks like my screen saver. My screensaver is blank. So it gave me a blank screen. And just now I found out that after a little while if I move the mouse again, then the desktop shows up. So there is a really long delay when i wake the pc up from sleep mode.

A couple of weeks ago I turned off having Windows to automatically install updates. I did that because there was an update that would not install. Every time I restarted my computer after a few minutes I would get a notice to shut down. I think it was an update about my graphics card.
So For a couple of days my computer has shut itself down while in sleep mode. It evidently takes quite a while for this to happen because often I put it to sleep during the day and it doesn't happen then. My setting is to never put the computer to sleep but to turn off the display in 30 minutes. It's been that way for years with no problem until now. I would appreciate any help and thank you.

First of all - can anyone answer me on wich e-mail adress should I send all of my reports to Microsoft regarding Windows 7 problems that I encountered ?
Second, here is the problem wich was very annoying but I did solve it so my point is to warn Microsoft about this so they can fix it in future Windows update or Service Packs for Windows 7.
When you are using (for example I used "High Performance" Power Plan) and in advanced options of any of Power Plans you let option - "Hard disk - Turn off hard disk after" to be turned ON (for example if you make your hard disk turn off after 15 minutes) you will have some serious trouble.

This was happening:

In Windows Vista - all worked well. I would put my PC in sleep mode, get back for hour and just press power button on my PC and he went up pretty fast. That was great option and it was working just fine.

But in Windows 7, I found out trough days and days of testing that when I put my PC to "Sleep mode" if it's "Sleeping" more then 15 minutes - I just can't get it back to desktop from sleep!

I would press Power button, fans would start but then PC would just shut down and try to start itself again and again until i completely shut it down from power and re-started it again.
After some time I was very mystified by this problem and many of my colleagues and friends had similar or the same issue. One day we all discovered that if we set "Turn off hard disk" option to... Read more
