Yoga 2 11 Windows 10 Cannot Connect to WPS wifi

Q: Yoga 2 11 Windows 10 Cannot Connect to WPS wifi

I have a Yoga 2-11 Windows 10 laptop. Wifi is working and connect to most networks. One area I travel to the airbnbs have AT&T hotspots that use WPS. I have not been able to connect to a WPS AT&T hotspot in two different locations. I can see and connect to the network on my Android phone, but not my laptop. I've tried the usual - resets, update drivers, etc with no luck. Can someone help? Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,My brand new Yoga 720-15 IKB doesn't connect to my workplace wifi network which is a Mikrotik network. It does though connect to my home network or a mobile hotspot and works fine with them. I have installed all Windows 10 updates and Lenovo Companion updates. I have manually updated wifi card driver, I have also tried deleting network card and installing it again - but no success. Still doesn't connect to this one particular network in my workplace. To make it stranger my coworker has the same brand new Yoga 720, the only difference is that mine Yoga is grey and his is platinium color. We discovered also that two, supposedly the same computers  have different network cards (he has Intel, I have Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A. This is a bit weird).I have also found out his Yoga connects easily to VPN at our workplace, my doesn't.Any ideas how to solve it? EDIT: my current network card driver is 12.0.0.295

Just received as a gift. When I connect to home WiFi with this computer it crashes the WiFi. I can connect any other device and its fine. It seems to only crash if I connect to Facebook. Tech Support had no idea and Software Service wanted me to pay them to troubleshoot. This is straight out of the box, I?m not paying them to fix a brand new computer. Any ideas? Drivers have been uninstalled and reinstalled so far. No change.

Just received a Yoga 920 as a gift.  Everything seemed to boot-up smoothly out of the box. I can see every Wifi connection in my neighborhood (including the router in my home). I'm typing this message from a computer that's connected to the Wifi via the router in my home.  Airplane mode is off.   However, when I try to connect to my local Wifi, and type in the key, I get a message of "Can't connect to this network". It's pretty clear the router is sending a signal, and the Yoga 920 is at least starting to receive it.   What do I need to do to complete the connection?

I like to keep my C930 in sleep mode. But sometimes after wake up, the laptop cannot connect to wifi (it cannot find surrounding wifi, and I cannot turn the wifi off). I will need to restart the computer to make the wifi work again. But when I restart the laptop in this condition, It cannot restart normally, it keeps restarting several times and until entering into repairing mode. I need to turn off the computer and open it again. It happens several times. It is hardware or system problem? And once I waked the laptop and screen didn't work. But it never happens again. Do I need to reinstall the computer or send it to repair?I just bought it for a month.

I have been relatively happy with my Yoga 900, but I have run into an odd situation and would appreciate any help.Specifically, my device functions well with my home router, but if I move to an area of the house where the WiFi signal is weak, and I get disconnected from the router, I seem to be unable to re-connect to the router when I then move back to an area of the house with a strong signal.I tried turning off the WiFi and turning it back on, but it still will not connect. It seems the only way I can get back online is to reboot. Is there a solution to this? For what it's worth, I do have the default 18.12.2.3 driver installed (Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260), and saw a post somewhere suggesting going to the Intel site for their driver.I am not someone who enjoys tweaking settings, so hopefully there is a simple step I am missing. Thanks so much to anyone who has time and willingness to offer a suggestion.

Hello everybody! As my post says my Yoga is not connecting to the internet upon startup, and after long periods of sleep. It does connect to the network immediately and will say 'No internet, secured', and will stay this way for a minute or more, or I have to manually disconnect and reconnect to the network. Troubleshooting problems from the context menu gives up before even trying. The strange thing is if I sleep my computer for around ten minutes it reconnects immediately, if it's a few hours or over night the problem occurs. I just cannot figure out what is causing this. Everything is completely up to date including the BIOS version and Windows 10.I've checked for the latest drivers on Lenovo's website, and I've looked for more up to date Atheros Wireless drivers. I have also tried rolling the drivers back, and at another point allowed Windows 10 to update the drivers. I have even done a complete wipe and reinstall of Windows 10, the problem has spanned over multiple major Windows updates, but I do not have this problem on any other operating systems. I have the Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A Wireless Netword Adapter in the Yoga 720-15IKB, and I have made sure it is not going to sleep to save power in the power management tab of device properties. I have also tried toggling on and off all of the services and startup items pertaining to network connectivity, and have tried disabling Windows Defender. I've run SFC /scannow in the command prompt.Any ideas ... Read more

I have a Yoga 13 running Windows 8.1 that has recently stopped connecting to my home wireless network. All the latest Windows Updates are installed at this time.I have uninstalled the Realtek Network device and the related drivers, rebooted and tested without luck. This unit sees the networks and if I enter a wrong password, it asks for a re-entry of the correct password.  When the correct password is entered it says "Checking Network Requirements" then fails with "Can't connect to this network"None of the troubleshooting services have been successful. All my other devices connect without any issues. I am runniing a Netgear R8000 Nighthawk wireless router. What is odd is that this laptop will connect to my iPhone 6 hotspot without any issues. I suspected a windows update may be the cause so I downloaded drivers from Lenovo for the wireless adapter.  Uninstalled the current ones, rebooted, and then installed the Lenove supplied drivers.  Still no joy. Any other suggestions short of a reinstall of the OS? Cheers! Hawkeye007

About a week ago, our cable internet connection went out. Before I had a chance to reboot the modem & router, my 11 year old decided to completely reset the router to factory settings! Ugh! This caused several issues: my home network is now gone, only a unsecured factory network is available. When I try to plug my laptop into the router via ethernet cord (in order to login to router and setup secure network) my computer will not recognize the router and won't connect to internet. I tried troubleshooting with my cable provider and they say it's in my computer (IP address will not reset) and he recommended I replace my network card. However, today when I brought my laptop to work, it will instantly recognize the wifi at work. So is it really my network card that is causing issues? Please help, I'm desperate and not tech too tech savvy!

We use Yoga Pro 3 computers for work, so I have several and this problem is the same on 3 of them (which leads me to rule out a hardware issue): the wifi adapter just went missing one night, seemingly after the latest routine windows 10 update.  Bluetooth is still there, but no wifi.  If I go into the device managers, I see a bunch of 'wan miniport' artifacts, but no actual wifi adapater.  I've rolled back the update (multiple udpates, for tha matter), played around in BIOS, I've tried intsalling the network adapter drivers manually, and on one computer, I even did a factory reset.  Nothing works.  Certainly a windows update can't damage the wifi card itself.  Anyone have any ideas?  No network connection makes these computers expensive paperweights.  And since they're employee computers, time is critical.  I'm giong to have to guy buy new computers this week if I can't resolve this.

My girlfriend recently updated her computer from Windows 8 to 8.1 Since then, she's been unable to connect to her home wi-fi. She can only connect via cable. Unfortunately, neither of us have disks to roll her back to Windows 8.
Now here's what's weird. Yesterday she brought her computer to my house and it connected to my wi-fi with no problem.
I updated her adapter drivers to Windows 8.1 but that had no effect on her ability to connect to her home wi-fi network.
Last night she ran "troubleshoot problems" and it says that her adapter is damaged. I highly doubt that since the computer is only a couple of months old and she could connect to my wi-fi network.
So any thoughts on what the problem is and/or potential solutions to try???

Hi,

I am experiencing a problem with my Windows 8.1 Laptop connecting to the local network through wireless. Here is what I have tested/know:

When I use the W8.1 laptop and try to connect via WiFi to my home router I can either never connect (90% of the time) or the connection is very slow and drops after a short time (10% of the time).Problem has been apparent for a month or so but seems to be getting worse. If I set up my 4G phone as a WiFi Access Point I can connect to internet via W8.1 Laptop without problem. If I connect the laptop via a cable to my home router there is also no problem. The problem seems worse when I am on battery power but also exists when plugged in (but I cannot confirm this, just something I have noticed).

There is an Android phone, iPhone, Nexus, Kindle and a Windows 7 laptop (on it now) in the house all able to connect fine via WiFi to my home router. The problem exists even if I disable all above devices (I can check my router and see no devices are connected via wireless).I have used a WiFi Scanner to confirm there is no other network using the same channel. On the W8.1 Laptop I have tried to forget the network and reAdd it. I have also run ipconfig /renew but nothing is able to get me back.I noticed that in available Network connections when I reboot the Laptop I sometimes see (listed along with my Wifi) a connection called 'Hidden Network' but I don't know what that is.The W8.1 laptop is an Acer Aspire V7 (64bit)The router is a Sky Hub

I am unable to connect to a public unsecured wi fi (public library).  I have a wireless network at home which connects without any trouble.  The public wi fi shows up on my system, but when I try to connect it indicates that it does not have
a valid IP.  ipconfig shows the 167.x.x.x address, which indicates that it does not receive a DHCP assigned IP.  I am unable to ping the DHCP server.  Is there a way to determine if the computer is broadcasting a request to the DHCP server?
It is connecting to the home network, and it is being assigned an IP there.  What is the difference in the way it polls the server at home and at the library?  I am using Windows 7 Home Prem. 64 on a Dell Inspiron 2500.  Intel Dual core
2 GHz with 4 GB Ram.

A:Windows 7 can't connect to public wifi

Thanks for the update.
Do you install any security software? Temporarily disable it to check if it works.
If the issue still persists. We need further troubleshoot the issue, follow these steps one by one to check the issue:
1. Check the DHCP and the DNS services. Click Start - input services.msc in the search box, on the right box. Check if the DHCP Client and DNS Client services are running.
2. Try to flush and register DNS. Run CMD, input ipconfig /flushdns [Enter Key],
ipconfig /registerdns, then restart the computer.
3. If still cannot connect to public wifi, try to reset the winsock. Run CMD, input
Netsh Winsock Reset, reboot to check the result.
4. Try to reset TCP/IP with netsh command. Run CMD, input netsh int ip reset reset.txt

5. Reinstall the NIC, go to the Device Manager, on the right pan, find the Network Adapters, right-click the NIC, then uninstall it then reinstall it.

Miya

I am moving from Virgin Media to BT and will no longer be able to connect my PC directly into the service using a cable as the new router is in another part of the house.

When I try and set up a new network connection, the PC cant see the wireless network and doesnt provide an option to connect to one. The WIFI is operating fine with various other devices connected to it.

My network adaptor is a realtek PCIe GBE family controller. I have downloaded the most recent drivers for this device. It occured to me that this device may not be a wifi adaptor, but I cant find anything to confirm that one way or the other on the web.

I suspect this is really simple and I am overlooking an obvious problem. Any help would be very welcome.

Hello, I'm having some wifi issues. In the past few weeks I've only been able to use the internet on my laptop when connected via ethernet, despite having used the same wireless, router, laptop, etc perfectly fine for years!

When I first start up my laptop, I can see the list of my available connections. I press connect for my usual home router and then it will say "Windows was unable to connect to blahblahblah". And then the list will have a red cross and claim no connections are available.

If I press troubleshoot problem, Windows Network Diagnostics says to "investigate router or access point issues", which involves turning the device off (done this several times). When I select "check to see if problem is fixed", it thinks for a bit then says "Windows cannot resolve your wireless connectivity issue".

Please can you help?

A:Windows unable to connect to Wifi

Welcome to BC. !

Have you Reset the router ?....this usually involves inserting the end of a paperclip into a tiny hole located on the router itself......google the name of the router and it will show you where that hole is.
The word Reset should be written directly above/beside the hole.

To do this, press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds. NOTE: Resetting your router to its default factory settings will also reset your router's password. The router's default password is “admin” as for the username, just leave the field blank.

My laptop suddenly became unable to connect to my home wifi. When I try, it tries to connect for a few seconds and then i get the message "can't connect to this network". until this happened i connected to it without problems. other laptops (housemates) can still connect to it as always without problems. my laptop can still, as, always, connect without problems to all other wifis. I've tried updating windows, then restoring, i upgraded to windows 8.1, i tried changing the security settings, rebooting the wifi, all the troubleshooting i could find on my computer. any ideas? is it more likely to be a problem with the wifi or with my laptop?

A:windows 8.1 can't connect to home wifi

in windows 8
forget the wireless network
so that you reconnect and have to re-enter the password
if still a problem

turn the router off for 5 mins and backon again - try again
if still a problem

try removing the password from the router and see if it will then connect
if it does then put the password backon

For some reason my windows 8 Hp will not connect to my home wifi network. Has had no problem connecting in the past but yesterday I unplugged my router to move it to another part of my house and ever since then it can't connect. My cell phone and other laptop connect to the internet no problem.
On my Hp it will show a list of wifi networks and my home network is on the list, however, when I try to connect to it and then troubleshoot the problem it says I can't connect to the network because it is hidden. I don't see how thats possible since the network name shows up on the list of nearby wifi networks.
What I've done but hasn't worked:
Reset my router and laptop multiple times.
Tried to manually connect to network.
Forgot the network on my laptop and tried to reconnect.
I don't understand how one day it can connect to the wifi fine and then I unplug it and all of a sudden it can't connect but my other devices can.
Please help me this is very frustrating and I couldn't find a specific answer anywhere else online.

A:Windows 8 laptop won't connect to wifi.

Downloaded windows 10 about 7 weeks ago. Had no problems what so ever. Everything went smoothly. Then I was online when windows defender popped up about finding malware. When trying to fix this problem.. screen went blue and updates started. From that point on computer says I am connect to internet but the Linksey router said internet connection is lost. But computer in bedroom, cellphone, tablet and a few other devices still work using the wifi. Please help not sure what to do.

A:Windows 10. Had WiFi but now cannot connect to internet

So your computer is still running, thats good. First lets make sure that it was really Windows Defender that says malware detected. Open Windows Defender, go to the History tab, select Quaranteen and click details. It should list the malware that was detected.
Is the computer wired or wireless?
Then, you said Linksys router says connection is lost, do you mean connection between the computer and router? Some routers can show a list of the connected PCs, is that what you are referring to?

I have a preferred WiFi Connection, but Windows 10 seems to require that I manually connect to it. How can I make this automatic?

In case it matters, I use an ethernet connection too, and run both, because they are different subnets each with devices (network shares) that I need access to (yes, I have a bridge.) Anyway, the network works just fine except that I have to manually connect to the WiFi everytime I restart WIndows. Ideas?

Hi,

I have Windows 8.1 installed on my laptop and following is the screen shot of the network information:

1. Basic Network information and setup information.
2. Properties of TIC/IP 4 connection under Advanced/WIN tab

Although, I can connect to other laptop if both are wired, but if other laptop is not wired then I can only see its name appearing in the homegroup connection but cannot connect to it.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks for your kind help in advance.

If you can unzip then click on the file below it will place a network info .txt on your desktop, please upload the .txt from both machines so I can have a look.
