Preferred Solution: Booting the CD... Do not recognize Lenovo T60 HD drive?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I solved the issue....
The S-ATA hard disk must be placed in “compatibility mode” using a BIOS function before
SuSE can be installed or used.

Otherwise the XP disk boor does not recognize the HD..

I'm attempting to boot to a Win7 DVD, but in BIOS I'm unable to set the boot priority to any type of optical drive. The BIOS boot devices menu is the same. I know I can use the USB tool, but that also didn't work. Is there any Lenovo BIOS patch I can apply, or an alternate solution to be able to boot to the optical drive?

A:Booting up from the optical drive on a Lenovo H430

Hi, On the Lenovo H505s you have to change a few options in the BIOS to install Windows 7 which requires booting from the optical drive. It's probably the same in the H430 Restart the computer at the white Lenovo (BIOS) screen, hit F1 to enter the BIOSGo to Security tabGo to Secure BootDisable Secure BootReset to setup modehit Yes to "Do you really wish to reset platform to setup mode?" Change the boot options to look for USB devices if you are installing from a flash drive, or make the DVD drive the first boot device. (Select SATA dev 1 not the DVD drive or whatever it's called and hit the - key) Go to the EXIT tabDisable OS Optimized DefaultsSave and Exit. That's now I did it on the H505s, not to sure what impact that has on the OEM installation of Win 8, probably destroys it, so be aware you might not be able to go back after. -Cheers

Back story: my hpe341 desktop (originally with Windows 7, upgraded to Win 10) suffered a HDD crash.   I had two weeks before created a WindowsImage on a USB attached drive.   I restored the Win 7, went through the upgrade process to get it back to Win 10.  The issue: Every attempt (booting to Win 10 and using the Control Panel > Restore or booting from the Windows 10 Repair Disc that I had built results in my being taken to a screen asking ?Choose Your Keyboard Layout? (this on a light blue screen) but keyboard and mouse seem to be not functional.  All I can do is force a power down. I have tried all startups using both USB 2 and USB 3 ports and nothing works. Importantly, the machine worked perfectly under Win 7 and works perfectly now Win 10 in a normal boot process; the issue only arises when I try to reimage with the saved file. The plea: It is frustrating to have the image file saved from two weeks before the crash and now not be able to load it: I suspect there is expertise out there in the Forum that will be able to help me. Thanks in advance (I did searches and wasn?t able to find a post that resolved my query, if I missed one my apologies in advance)

I have the Lenovo Yoga 720 13". My screen does not seem to recognize the use of the pen/stylus. I've tried the Bamboo pen used on my previous lenovo as well as the little pen that came with my old thinkpad. Neither of these pens work on my Yoga. My HID drives are up to date. Is there a setting I need to change? Or, could there be a more serious issue? Any info is appreciated!

A:Lenovo Yoga 720 13" does not recognize pen at all

Good day and welcome to the community.

I'm not certain if all Yoga 720 13" models (or the 15" variant) are pen-abled.
Please post the machine type-model number from the bottom of your laptop, no serial number please, and we might be able to tease out more info.

Hello! Is it true that Lenovo B50-70 hard drive usage (HDD+SSD) limited to 1 Tb?We tried everything and the BIOS only recognize the 240 Gb SSD (in original HDD bay) when the original 1 Tb HDD was in there too (optical bay), and vica-versa. When 1 Tb HDD replaced with 500 Gb HDD, everything was recognized fine. Very strange.Thank you in advance.

A:Lenovo B50-70 HDD + SSD recognize problem

hi FG1

Welcome to the Forums.

Your problem might be similar to this thread.

Can you try uninstalling the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver from the Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features then reboot and observe if both drives (240GB SSD+1TB HDD) can now be used together normally as other users were able to successully use both drives on their B50-70.

Let me know how it goes.

Just got my Yoga 720, a wonderful upgrade to my old Yoga 14. When I first got it I could use my previous 65W and 90W power supplies to charge it. I know it's lower wattage but I leave it plugged in most of the time and am just moving it between rooms where I leave a charger so slow charging the battery isn't an issue. Problem is after it finished all of the system software updates it no longer recognizes any Lenovo adaptors other than the 135W which was shipped with it. I don't even get an error saying "this power supply has insufficient power for this computer" as I've seen on other computers. Nothing, it just doesn't see the other Lenovo adaptors anymore except for the one that shipped with it. I checked BIOS settings, Windows 10 Power options, Advanced settings, Lenovo Specific settings in the OS. i can't find anything to explain why it stopped recognizing the other adaptors. I also can't find any information online where people described similar issues or Lenovo stating limitations on power adaptors for the computer. Has anyone seen this behavior?

Hi, all. I'm new to this forum and to Windows 7, actually, because I just recently had my dad's Lenovo 14001 upgraded from Vista to Window 7 Ultimate. The only reason we had his Lenovo upgraded was because we encountered the "0xc00000e9" problem (i.e., the one that says "Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt... status 0xc00000e9"). Upon advice that it'd be best to upgrade to Win 7, we then upgraded his PC last March 30, 2013. After Win 7 installation, everything was fine. We didn't encounter any problems. Then just now, or a week later (April 6), the PC could not recognize any USB. I have a flash drive and a mouse here that light up when inserted to a PC. But now they won't light up. I checked Disk Management to see if the flash drive's "found" there but there's only the Local Disk [C:] and the DVD Drive [E:]. I've googled answers and tried suggested remedies, but none so far worked.

So I'm thinking (we're not techie persons and we use our PC for office and business work, so sorry if my wild guess sounds stupid), since the PC is around 6 years old, maybe the problem's in the actual PC unit? Lenovo 14001 is after all an old unit--i.e., unlike laptops today, it has no webcam or bluetooth, etc., and it shuts down unexpectedly when it gets too hot.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have  G70-45 that I just added an 8 gb ram upgrade.  Only after adding ram, Windows shows 12 gb ram, and 2.8 gb usable.  I went into bios and it reports 12 gb ram.  I was careful to buy right ram (3L, 1.35 volt, Crucial) Am I missing something here?  This is a 64 bit version of Windows 10.  The OS should be able to access the ram.  Is this a Windows problem or a Lenovo problem?Does it matter which bank to insert the new ram into?  I inserted it into the same bank that the original 4 gb was in and moved the 4 gb card to the secondary bank. Has anybody had this problem and is there a fix?

I have a Lenovo U150. I accidentally dropped it. Everything works fine except for the lid close action. The lid closes just fine and smoothly but it no longer recognizes that action. It used to hibernate on lid close and no longer does. Now, when I close the lid, the computer just keeps running, the LCD backlight even stays on. I tried taking it apart but didn't get very far, it's well built. The model is newish so it doesn't seem like there are diagnostics out there to find where the lid close switch is and nobody else seems to have this issue. Thoughts? Support? Much appreciated.

How long ago did you get it? Fiddling around like that might void the warranty.

From pics I can see of it (boy is that thing small) it looks like a hinge switch, which would not be user fixable in something that new.

Dell Dimension 8400 (about 3-4 years old). Stock SATA 160gb hard drive crashed (got the blue screen, all the codes, etc.) Took it to a computer place, they also said the HD crashed. I have bought a replacement 250gb SATA HD - attached the two inputs to the back (one thin and ling, one thin and short) and all I get on boot up is a couple of chirps and the screen says "Drive 1 (and 2 and 3) Not Found: Serial ATA, SATA-1" and repeats for drives two and three. The drive is warm, it's being accessed (it's humming), but I've also tried a third 160gb drive, same thing. I even replaced the original drive back in and the same thing - not even the blue screen and error codes any more.

Went to F2 set up, set to auto detect, all (SATA) drives sets to 'on.'

I'm computer literate, but not a techy or anything.

Totally lost now. Please help.

I'm in the process of moving to an SSD and need to create a backup drive in order to repair the BIOS after transferring everything. However, when I try to create one - the create a recovery drive program won't recognize the flash drive I have connected as a flash drive.

I first tried with a SanDisk Cruzer which apparently had a quirk in that it shows up as a hard drive instead of removable flash drive. That seems to be well documented on forums all over the place and there is no fix.

So, I purchased a cheap 8 GB stick (no brand) and Windows (I'm running 8.1 x64) recognizes it as a removable disk. However, the create a backup utility still won't recognize it. I've found some random fixes that have worked for some (such as plugging it into a different USB port) but nothing has worked for me so far. I've tried doing it with the "copy the recovery partition" option both checked and unchecked.

If there's no solution to this wonderful "quirk" of Windows, then is there something else I can do to repair BIOS? Seems like there's not a fix to my problem out there...

EDIT
So as of right now, I tried using HPs recovery software which seems to do the same thing as copying over your entire recovery partition. That didn't work either. However..when I had both USB sticks plugged in the Windows supplied utility recognized the SanDisk Cruzer when I checked the "copy the partition" thing...so this might be solved.

A:Create a recovery drive won't recognize flash drive

You might save yourself a lot of aggravation by down loading a free copy of Macrium Reflect, you can make a Disk Image that can be restored to any drive it will fit on. or just copy/clone to your SSD. just make sure your current drive doesn't have more data than will fit on the SSD, Reflect will adjust the C: partition size

The recovery USB needs to work they are not created equal if Reflect doesn't recognize it get another one that will. I can't help you with the other program you are using Reflect is known to work for everyone.

The machine has no optical drive. The only thing I can gather is that USB and or legacy boot mode are not enabeled. As I am totally blind, I have very little knowledge of the bios of this particular device, and any decent explanations are scarce.I know how to get to them (press f2 for bios and f12 for boot menu I believe) though anything else is beyond me.Could somebody tell me what to press at the keyboard to enable USB mode, and or legacy mode, if that particular option is needed? And by the way, for those curious about how I gathered information about the recovery screens, I use an app called seeing AI, which takes screenshots of anything you tell it to, and tries to tel you what it sees.Even with good lighting, the seeing AI app isn't of much use to help navigating the bios menu. Most problematic, I can't tell exactly what order the app sees the options, as compared to what order they are actually in.I would be most greatful if anyone could help, as this is the only ... So, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Z61T 9660CTO which I bought in 2007. It has served me well. Yesterday, it was working perfectly, albeit with some exxtra high heating at the bottom, close to 60-70 degrees Celcius. Then , I wanted to put in a new SSD into it. So, I took out the old HDD and then connected it, and the other SSD via USB casing to another computer running a disk cloning software. Tried it did not work. Now, I put back the old HDD into the Thinkpad, it does not start up again at all. Even the first screen which says "Thinkpad" press Blue button for recovery" does not come up now. Hard drive is not it, since the screen does not switch on at ALL. If it was HDD failure, it would say something like HDD not detected. But in this case, it does not even show the initial Thinkpad screen. So, this may be a loose connection somewhere (even though I did not remove the casing at all while removing the HDD) Both times, I removed and reattached the HDD, with the power cable removed from the Thinkpad, but, the battery was still inside the chassis. Short circuit? Bad! Someone help.

In case its not clear, when I press the power button, I do not arrive at the press Del to enter BIOS screen at all. No THINKPAD screen. Just black screen and no HDD activity

Every time I try to turn on my lenovo n22 windows notebook, the 'Lenovo' boot screens appears, sits for a moment, goes black, then comes on again. This has been happening on loop for hours. I have tried rebooting it, to no avail. Any thoughts?

My Computer data:Lenovo G50- 45Win 8 already being installedMy problem:Hey dudes,I wanted to start my PC as always but instead of starting my GUI, windows just showed me the message that "Automatically reperation is being prepared". I used to wait but after hours the computer stayed the same. I decided to use the "onekey recovery" but instead of recovering, the computer just showed me the lenovo sign and used to load. The same procedure, I used to wait hours, but nothing changed. After that I prepared an USB device and set win 10 (64) on it and wanted to let him boot from my device. After having a lot of problems, I found a page on the internet telling me to change to "legacy" mode and to disable secure boot. Well, done that and enter with "Fn and F12" the boot menu. Selected my USB device and he is really showing me a Win 10 logo. But, and thats my problem he isnt doing anything else. He is just showing me a loading circle with a big blue Win 10 logo. I dont know what I should do next. Any Ideas around here? I've heard that a Hardware issue could be possible, isn't it? While booting, I pushed different Keys and heard one single, loud Beeping. Any ideas what I could do guys?Would be really glad to hear from you  - Greetings

My Lenovo B590 was working fine yesterday, today suddenly I can't make it boot up. I have recorded a video that demonstrates the behaviour of the Laptop on Power On:https://youtu.be/T9IcxsIgRcE It remains in an endless loop of powering up for a sec, making some click-sound and turning off immediately. Longpress power button ends the loop. AC cable is connected, battery is inserted. Things I tried that didn't solve the issue:Power On only with AC cable (normally and with 20 sec long Power press)Power On only with battery (normally and with 20 sec long Power press)Removing both RAM and trying it with one each in each of both RAM slotsProbably an issue with the motherboard? Anything else I could try?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of the problem you are experiencing.  I would try removing the optical drive and then try powering the laptop up.  If that doesn't work then remove the hard drive and power up.  Since the click sounds mechanical in nature, that would lead me to suspect either one of those devices.  If the laptop powers up with a drive removed then suspect that drive as being faulty.

Your model's User Guide will explain how to remove those drives.  Here is a link to that manual for your reference.....

Hello,I recently bought (used) a Lenovo H520 that will not boot. When I press the power button, the fans spin up and the power button stays solid on. The disk read/write light quickly flashes about every three seconds. Absolutely nothing happens on screen so I cannot access the BIOS. I got it cheap due to a bad hard drive and used an old Windows 7 drive instead. I upgraded it to Windows 10 (x64, wiping the 32-bit 7) and it worked fine. I do not know what changed between then and now but now it will not boot. I have already attempted booting without the hard drive to the same effect.Thank you.
