Q: HP Probook 640 G2 will not boot this morning after battery d...

Probook 640 G2 won't book. Have been using on a docking station with no problem. Used yesterday without a power cord and battery probably died during the night. The power button is flashing but it won't turn on or off even with power cord plugged in or in the docking station.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, Got an issue with a ProBook 470 G3 not booting properly. The battery is charged but the Probook won't boot with the battery in the laptop: it only boots without the battery but with the powercable. Once booted I can plug the battery in and remove the powercable and it keeps running. But as soon as I want to boot again I need to remove the battery and put the cable back in. It's a brand new laptop and the battery has been replaced by the dealer once already but the issue remains.

I have a compaq armada 1500c laptop running win 2000. My computer was running fine on the battery, when it started to run down I plugged in my power cord, the computer turned off now it will not run at all on the battery, but it seems to charge the bat. Any idea what went wrong. Your help is much appreciated.

A:battery worked in the morning, got a surge now nothin

I take it from your post that it runs on the mains and not on the battery? If that is the case I would suspect a knackered battery.

Often, it everything will look as if the battery is charging, lights on etc etc but if the battery is dead it just wont hold the charge and is therefore useless.

I looked at the Event Viewer and it appears it entered sleep, and then resumed from sleep two seconds later (I'm guessing right after I shut the lid). How do I stop this? I have the power options to "sleep" I have tried to turn off all the "Allow this device to wake up th computer" - no matter what I try, it seems to not go to sleep. It does *sometimes* but the vast majority, it doesn't if I just shut the lid. My BIOS is updated. Is there any lesser known fix? EDIT: Oh yeah, and sometimes it won't wake up from sleep when pressing power, or opening lid, or pressing fn + 4.

Still trying to find the source of my Sony computer troubles.
Sony Vaio
2.4 ghz
P4 non hyperthreading
Win XP Home
1 gig memory
SATA card w/ maxtor 250 gig & Seagate 80 gig drives

I have to leave it on 24/7, otherwise, if I shut it off at night, the next morning it won't boot up.
When I turn it on, it searches for the hard drive and can't find one. After turning it off and back on several times, it finally finds it and works flawlessly.

It can be shut down for an hour or so without trouble. It only happens overnight for some reason.

I broke down finally and bought a new power supply (proprietary) for $137 and installed it last night. Turned it on this morning and it went through the same routine.

I have tried replacing the hard drive and installed a PCI SATA card.
Reinstalled the software from scratch.
Replaced memory chips.
Installed new power supply.

Anyone have any other ideas what to look for? This is driving me nuts!!!!!

Hi, The original battery of my ProBook 450 G0 (product number H0W12EA#ABB) has become useless so I am looking for a replacement to the original FP06 battery. I can only find the FP06 with a product number H6L26AA and my laptop's product number seems not to be included in the list of compatible products. I purchased it nonetheless as I just had to find a way to make the computer survive without the charger for at least 20mins. The H6L26AA battery seems to be 'okay' as it does allow me to use the computer without the charger and it did pass HP Battery Check test on HP Support Assistant application but my computer started lagging quite badly over the last several days - sometimes when I try to wake it from the sleep mode it just restarts and some applications are really slow or stop working after a while. Can it be the battery's fault? How and where could I find a battery that is fully compatible with a ProBook 450 G0 with a product number H0W12EA#ABB? Thank you,Ava

Hello I have bought hp probook 4530s and While I am Using it I found that the battery does not last for long time or it finishes quickly. I mean I am do ing my work and suddenly the computer shuts down So, MY question is : Is there any solution to avoid this problem??

A:hp probook 4530s battery problem

Can you provide a bit more information on your battery problem?
You say the battery doesn't last a long time, how long does it last when working from a full charge (100%)? When it is shuts down, does it just turn off with no warning, or does it give you a warning and tell you to plug the notebook in soon before shutting down? How old is the battery in the Notebook? What operating system are you using?
If you have HP Support Assistant installed, then I would recommend opening it, and running the battery test and battery calibration, that will at least tell you something about the condition of the battery.
Good Luck!

My laptop (purchased new July 2015, battery manufacture date May 2015) was working fine and the battery was being charged properly. Then a couple of months ago my son upgraded to Windows 10. He had some problems with drivers and not being able to run his programs so he downgraded back to Windows 7. After that the battery doesn't charge anymore. The charger is recognized and the laptop runs, but it is not charging the battery. I suspect it's an internal laptop problem and buying a new battery won't help. Any thoughts or suggestions to fix this problem?

My ProBook 4530 laptop (A7KO5UT) running on Windos 7 Home Premium (64bit) does not charge my battery. This computer is only several weeks old and has had this problem since I first started it. Whenever I boot the computer with the AC adapter and battery both connected, it tells me that my battery's energy levels are depleting and that there are no signs of an AC adapter being connected. The AC adapter however works perfectly fine when I use it on another computer and perfectly fine when I run my laptop with just the AC adapter as the sole power source. I contacted HP about this issue via chat and was given another battery. However, this battery did nothing to change the situation at hand. Should I assume that this second battery is also defected, or is this more likely a problem with my BIOS, or something of that nature? Thanks for any help in this matter whatsoever.

Hello, I have a HP 4530s with this problem: If I remove and insert the battery while Windows is running, the battery charges for a little while and then stops charging ("Plugged in, not charging). An orange light is blinking near the power connector. If I remove and insert the battery again, it charges for a while and then stops again. If I turn off Windows and disconnect AC power, if the orange light was blonking, it continues blonking (didn't wait to see how long). If I do this enough times, the battery charges to full. When I disconnect the AC power the laptop works normally on the battery (battery capacity is OK). What I have tried:1. removing the battery, disconnecting AC, holding power button for 40s, reconnecting AC, starting Windows, shutting down Windows, inserting the battery.2. Updating the BIOS to the latest version (F60) - this actually helped because previously the battery was not detected at all if removed and inserted until I did #1.

I finally got over the initial shock of not being able to load windows XP after installing it yesterday...certainly being able to boot to my old familiar W2K helped restore some mental equilibrium (along with the requisite amount of caffeine) and from here I definitely have a bit more hope that I can fix it somehow.

Here’s the quick back-story: At the end of an almost (?) successful setup of a dual boot system (WIN2K Pro is the original OS, I’m adding XP Pro to a different hard drive) I got the following when the installation attempted the last restart to open XP:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file

XP seems to be completely installed, when I access my H drive (the one I installed XP on) I find what looks like the entire directory, when I open the system32 folder in the root directory the hal.dll file is there (all 81,152 delinquent bytes of it) but I still don’t know how to “reinstall” it or convince windows that it's really a GOOD uncorrupted file...

I cannot get it to boot to XP in safe mode no matter how trickily I manipulate the F8 and Enter keys during startup...

I did manage to boot from the CD to get to a “repair XP” install and that opened the recovery console, but I haven’t a clue where to go from there or what to type so I exited. There now are 3 options at t... Read more

I made a recovery disk from another laptop which allows me to go into the system recovery options. I chose the first option use recovery tools the can help fix problems starting windows. I selected window 7 and then a window came up saying "add drivers". it says insert the installation media for the device and click okay to select the drivers. However I am starting from a recovery disk and I'm not sure where to find the drivers it is asking for. The good news is that I can see that the hard drive is okay it's just the start up got corrupted. Can anyone advise me?

A:Trying to restore laptop..wouldn't boot this morning..

Normally no drivers are needed. All needed are already on recovery disk. Only in special cases for example hardware-raid you need to install extra drivers to recovery environment.

Just do a "startup repair" and tell me if and what error it finds. Click "view details" or "view diagnostics details" or somtehing like that. 0x0 means no problem at all. What errors does it find and does it fix it?

Do it 3 times with reboot in between

Okay guys I've been having this issue for a week now ever since upgrading to windows 8.1.
My system specs are shown in the attached image.

Every morning when I boot my PC I get a blue screen at the windows loading screen. Various error messages have been displayed including "NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM", "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", "CUSTOM_ERROR" AND "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". This happens every morning without fail and most evenings too when I get back from work and boot my PC.

I'm at the end of my tether with this issue and am considering just being done with it and reverting back to Windows 7. After running Driver Verifier I instantly got stuck in a loop of BSODs being caused by "l1c63x64.sys" which I think is to do with the on-board network adapter with my motherboard. I have tried using a PCI Network adapter while disabling the on-board LAN but the issue has still not gone away.

I have attached my dump from DM Log Collector Tool.

A:Factory reset but battery drained, probook doesnt log in

Hello, Welcome! Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Despite the fact that the battery power drained during recovery, I suspect the recovery partition is still there and intact. You just have to restart the recovery process. Here is how: 1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button2. Power it on.2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, imeediately start hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one 3. Choose F11 for System Recovery options. The computer should boot from recovery partition to open you various recovery options. Note, that F11 option will only work if the recovery partition is there (not deleted) and intact. From there, you have prenty of options to choose from. Follow the on-screen instructions . Details here >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00006110 Let me know if this helps. If you experience any issues, do provide details and let me know.

My battery was dying. I tried calibration, letting the lenovo run just on the battery. It looks like it went down to 0%, then shut off. But it wouldn't charge. It was probably never charging in the first place, always running off the power of the AC. But I could still boot to AC. So I bought a new battery. It said to calibrate. So I tried that. The battery ran down to maybe 20%, then shut off. But the same result. Laptop will neither boot nor charge the batttery. Again, it will boot just fine with the battery out. So, what's to be done? Also, I tried to get into the BIOS via F2 and F12, but that doesn't work either. - Dan

Bought two farily expensive OEM PH09 extended life batteries from an authorized HP vendor online eight months ago for a conference. Used each battery twice over the course of four days. One then sat in my laptop unused for a couple months after that, and when I next turned it on, the laptop reported it as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)". I assume it discharged completely, even though the laptop was off or hibernating. Battery reports same condition on friend's ProBook. OEM power supply charges the other battery (and my original battery) fine. On plugging in the power cord, I get a brief orange flash from the charging light above the port, then nothing. Updated the laptop BIOS, no joy. Have deleted the battery items in Device Manager, no joy. Have booted without battery and added, booted with it and removed it, all the combinations, no joy. Installed the HP Support Assistant and ran the battery check and it reports "The battery is functioning correctly, but it has not been charged recently. The battery should be charged completely before removing the AC adapter." Thanks :-). Research suggests some chip in the battery itself has simply "turned off". I asked the vendor for help, they said call HP. Took a long time to reach someone at HP, they said talk to the vendor. Vendor then said there's only a 90-day warranty on batteries, and basically bugger off. I still have my original sales receipt. Can I send this battery in to HP for a replacement? Hi, Recently I slammed the lid of my HP Probook 6450b shut really hard and now it won' boot into the OS. I checked the hard drive and connections seem to be ok.I am able to give more information if asked All help is appreciated, iNeedHelp

A:Probook won't boot

If the laptop was running when you slammed it shut you probably damaged the hard drive (which was spinning) and it will have to be replaced. Have you tried Diagnostics in BIOS to test the hard drive?

I have used EaseUS software and cloned my Windows to an SSD drive. The original hard disk (including original C drive content) is kept in the pc as backup. I have changed the boot order for both UEFI and Legacy to the following order:1. M.2 SSD2. USB3. Harddisk But after windows is started, i checked in windows explorer, my windows is still booting from the harddisk, not from the SSD. How do set the bios to boot from the SSD?

My question seems to be met with a deafening silence. Is this some topic that's been addressed so many times that it shouldn't be listed? I have searched this list for answers, tried whatever addresses the like problem. Thing is, I have found no listings of the exact circumstances. My Probook 450 will not boot. Turning the power on brings the screen immediately to life displaying nothing that I recognize. The Power, Wireless and Speaker LEDs are lit, but not blinking. The hard disk never engages. This is the screen that immediately displays: I have tried the "Hard" reset, removed peripherals and the battery, pressed Power for thirty seconds, tried Ctrl-Alt-Delete and F8 while it should be booting.Any suggestions will be appreciated.

A:Re: ProBook--how do I boot from a flashdrive

Change the preferred boot device in BIOS/UEFI setup screen to a USB device. Assuming the flash-drive is properly formatted with a bootable OS.
