I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello!
I don't know much about computers so I'm not sure what's going on with my laptop. For over a month my my laptop likes to disconnect from the internet all by itself. The internet connection itself is fine. My sister's laptop never looses internet nor does any other device in our house that uses WiFi. It only seems to be my laptop. Furthermore, "My Wifi Technology" always says WiFi has been disabled. I try to enable it but it still says its disabled. What's weirder is that usually my internet works fine even it claims WiFi is disabled.
I tried system restore just to see if it would help somehow, it didn't. I also scanned my computer fur viruses but nothing showed up. The only way I can connect to the internet again is by restarting my laptop. I'm wondering if I have fault hardware or something.

A:BSOD random: Using Chrome, Excel and Word. I have Intel Anti Theft .

Hello Yopes.

You have multiple antivirus programs installed. Avast free, and Microsoft Security Essentials.
Using multiple real time protection programs are not a good practice, it will in turn cause your PC more vulnerable to threats than it is even without a single AV.

I would suggest you to Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use MSE too. Then Download a fresh copy of MSE and install it. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Let us know the results.

Finding something even odd here, but will think about that part after seeing the situation with MSE only state.

I need help! I have a Pavilion dm4 laptop with Windows 7 Home with an Intel My Wi-Fi Technology. I have a wireless printer that worked as a wireless printer until about 3 weeks ago. The Intel My Wi-Fi Technology is disabled. I go the Control Panel>Network & Internet>Intel My Wi-Fi Technology and click to open it. The window that pops up indicates that the wi-fi is disabled. It has a green button that reads "enable". When I click on that button, it will not become enabled.

I have turned off the rotor, turned off my computer and printer and rebooted everything. Nothing helps.

What can I do?

Windows 8 and Windows 10 contain a surprising feature that many users will find unwelcome: PC OEMs can embed a Windows executable in their system firmware. Windows 8 and 10 will then extract this executable during boot time and run it automatically. In this way, the OEM can inject software onto a Windows machine even if the operating system was cleanly installed.
The good news is that most OEMs fortunately do not seem to take advantage of this feature. The bad news is that "most" is not "all." Between October 2014 and April of this year, Lenovo used this feature to preinstall software onto certain Lenovo desktop and laptop systems, calling the feature the "Lenovo Service Engine."
Lenovo's own description of what the software did differs depending on whether the affected system is a desktop or a laptop. On desktops, the company claims that the software only sends some basic information (the system model, region, date, and a system ID) to a Lenovo server. This doesn't include any personally identifying information, but the system ID should be unique to each device. Lenovo says that this is a one-time operation and that the information gets sent only on a machine's first connection to the Internet.
For laptops, however, the software does rather more. LSE on laptops installs the OneKey Optimizer (OKO) software that Lenovo bundles on many of its machines. OneKey Optimizer arguably falls into the "crapware" category. While OKO does do some somewhat useful system maintenance&... Read more

In their ARK description, Intel admits that they support `vt-d` virtualization technology on i7-6700HQ Processor. But nowhere in Bios (version E5CN56WW), it has mentioned on how to enable it. The only related configuration seems to be named Virtualization which is enabled, but I can't confirm it by enabling IOMMU on my Linux kernel (nothing appears in `/sys/kernel/iommu_groups/` folder). So I wanted to know if it supports this virtualization technology and if yes, how I can enable it? Thank you

Hi Folks,I have a lenovo G500 laptop which i had purchased during thanksgiving vaction in 2013. The machine was working fine till June 2014 when I stated getting Blue Screen of death with error messages "irql_not_less_or_equal" The OS was windows 8.1. This created lot of problem while booting , the machine would not boot at all.Along with this message I started getting this message "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" SATA disk on Controller 0, Port Unknown detected".  This message was coming very often.I along with Lenovo support did all the things possible, like factory reset etc. Finally the machine was sent out to depot for repair in July 2014. They replaced the hard drive and sent the machine back.I got the machine back on 22nd July and since last week ,ie, 14th July I have started to get the issues again. My IE and Firefox will suddenly hangon and the blue screen will appear again with same message "irql_not_less_or_equal" occasionally. Yesterday i started getting Sata disk message again. I wanted to understand why this message is coming back along with blue screen of death. Is there some problem with Windows OS or hard disk seems to crash again? Thanks in advanceshailesh

A:Lenovo G500 - Intel Rapid Storage Technology" SATA...

hi Shailesh,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

From this article, this is the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL possible cause:

"This bug check is issued if paged memory (or invalid memory) is accessed when the IRQL is too high.
The error that generates this bug check usually occurs after the installation of a faulty device driver, system service, or BIOS.

If you encounter bug check 0xA while upgrading to a later version of Windows, this error might be caused by a device driver, a system service, a virus scanner, or a backup tool that is incompatible with the new version."

From your description, It's possible that the HDD or the RAM is faulty but it's also possible that it's a software (driver) issue -- which is the hard drive (SATA) controller.

To verify, I would:
1. Run a diagnostic on the HDD (via Lenovo's Storage Quick Test or via HD Tune)

2. Run a diagnostic on the RAM (via Memtest86+)
   - RAM - Test with Memtest86+

3, Read the BSOD dump file to see what file caused the crash
   - How to solve Windows 8 crashes in less than a minute
   - If the file is associated with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver (SATA Controller), uninstall the software from the Control Panel > Programs and let Windows install a generic Windows driver.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad U300s which has died, and of course I don't have current backups. I figure the SSD still has my data, and thought I'd just pull the SSD and read it on another computer, but I don't know what kind of adaptor I need to use. The SSD isn't in a typical hard drive case, it looks more like a memory card with a series of chips, but instead of edge connectors that go into a bus slot, it has a connector to a ribbon cable on one end. You can see a picture on page 58 of the hardware manual: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_%20u300_u300s_u400_hmm_1st_edition_oct_2011... Does anyone have any hints on how I could read this data? Feel free to chastize me for not making backups :-)

Hi every oneI have recently installed windows 10 on my Lenovo ideapad Z580. My laptop's alt, Esc and F4 keys stopped working. I had have the same issue last year but it solved by itself. Honestly I forget what I did last year to solve this problem. I had googled the problem and searched lots of forums and websites but most of users had this problem because their F4 key is combination of Fn and F4. In my case my F4 is not Combined by Fn keys.I check my keyboard in the keyboard tester website and it seems the keys that I mentioned do not work there. The thing is I had this issue last year and I had checked my keyboard by a keyboard remapper namedSharpKeys to notice if it had a hardware issue and the keys ( alt, F4 and Esc ) did not work there too But it repaired by some work that I did and I forgot. I had updated all of my drivers and I updated the BIOS before. But issue is not solved yet.I will be thankful if anyone could help. P.S.: I had started a similar topic in microsoft forum and nothing helpful comed yet. System Info:Lenovo Z580Win 10 Build version 1809

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad p500 laptop with a Intel HD 4000 graphics card and is running Windows 10 that has issues when attempting to connect to an old Polaroid monitor of mine. The cable used to connect them is a VGA cable, and as soon as the cable is connecting them, with the monitor on or off, my laptop's screen quickly changes to a smaller resolution (with black bars on the side of the screen), then erratically goes completely black for a second. The screen comes back, in a different resolution, and I cannot interact with anything. I have a Levono 330 which device manager says has an Intel HD Graphics 5500 display and the max resolution is 1366 x 768. Not great but adequate.
I installed the Oracle VM 5 (in order to run some old DOS software) and created a virtual XP machine - that was dead easy.

Oracel VM defaulted the XO machine to a small window at 800x600. I changed the screen resolution and it allowed a maximum of 1600x1200 so whooppee, I selected 1600x1200. The screen resolution was visibly better than the 1366x768 that I had under native windows 10. So it would seem that the screen can cope with a higher resolution that 1366x768 - or am I kidding myself!?

So how do I get Windows 10 to let me set a screen resolution of 1600x1200 that I can set in the VM?
Silly boy. I just noticed that the increase dots come from increasing the size of hte screen to a point where it does not all fit on at the same time!! :-(

I hope they improved this new version with a thunderbolt connection. I also want to upgrade the native m.2 SSD for a Samsung 960 EVO so I can enable hardware encryption on it.Does anybody know which SSD is used in this model and does it already support SSD hardware encryption (TCG Opal) like the samsung does?Does this motherboard support a PCIe 3.0x4 NVMe SSD like the Samsung 960 EVO? Here are some specs: https://us.hardware.info/product/413163/lenovo-ideapad-520s-14ikbr-81bl005ymh/specifications I can't find any further info (or user manual) on this model and I can't even find the model on the Lenovo website except for the older models like 520s-IKB.  Hope someone can help me out. Thank you!

I recently updated my Lenovo Y410p to a SSD with a clean install of windows. Because of this, all my drivers are out of date. Some background on my laptop: When I first purchased it in 2014, the Intel Centrino N2230 wireless adapter was not working whatsoever. It was constantly dropping connection every minute. There were plenty of complaints about it online with many proposed solutions, all of which did not work for me. I spent weeks trying to troubleshoot the wireless card to no avail. My laptop essentially did not have wireless capabilities during this duration, until a driver update came through that fixed everything. I never had a Wi-Fi problem again in the last 3 years.  I upgraded to a SSD yesterday, and the wireless adapter is once again not working. I know 100% it is the Intel Centrino N2230 drivers once again because those weeks of trying to troubleshoot it are so painfully unforgettable. It has the exact same symptoms again. I thought it would just be a simple fix of updating the driver. However, when I go to the Lenovo Y410P Product page to look for the drivers, the Intel Centrino N2230 wireless adapter is no longer there:  https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-y-series-laptops/ideapad-y4... The closest thing was the WLAN driver, but when I try installing that, it just makes me install Intel Proset/Wireless, which does nothing for updating my driver. Maybe I'm using it wrong, but when I install Intel... Read more

Quick background-I restored my drive from image and i cannot recall what i did to make it a bit faster. i think it had to do with Chipset or IRST.

I tried to install the latest version 14.8.0.1042 and i get a incorrect platform error and it doesn't install

I'm using version 12.8

My specs are Win 7 pro x64, 7 Series/216 H77 chipset, I5 3rd gen, SSD SanDisk Ultra II 240g, Seagate 2tb HDD

Thinking of replacing my current Lenovo. Is the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 15.6" Touch  screen matte/Anti-glare?

A:Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 15.6" Touch - Matte /Anti-glare screen?

Hi coffeelady,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking on the product specification sheet, screen it shows as antiglare.

Display:
Some: 15.6" (396mm) FHD (1920x1080), anti-glare, LED backlight, 250 nits, 16:9 aspect ratio, IPS
Some: 15.6" (396mm) UHD (3840x2160), anti-glare, LED backlight, 300 nits, 16:9 aspect ratio, IPS

You can also share the machine type model (MTM ex. 81CA000JUS) from the sticker or from here for your machine's details if needed. Similar offer models also show the same multi touch antiglare screens from the Lenovo website.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Hey everyone, My Intel HD graphics 520 driver continuously crashes and basically shuts down my computer. The power button/keys are still on, but I just get a black screen (with some light behind it), as if it is in sleep mode, and I cannot wake up my computer anymore. The only solution then is to just force it off by holding the power button and restart it. I feel it happens at random, but it seems to occur more often when I'm playing a video or something (although that may just be a coincidence). I've had this problem for a long time and have tried several times to reinstall or update the driver. Because I got so fed up with it I just disabled the driver and used the NVIDIA Geforce 920M driver, which works sort of fine with the only big disadvantages that I can't increase or reduce the brightness of my screen anymore and can't run certain programs/games properly. So, therefore, I'm still looking for a solution.  Can anybody help me out?

I only tried Bitdefender anti-theft, which I find rather unuseful, doing a very poor job. Do you think it is necessary? If so what do you recommend?

[PC] You're in for a treat if you haven't discovered Prey Anti-Theft. I've made a dedicated guest account for it too. I think there's a mobile version also.

Well, I bought a Dell laptop couple years ago and after the McAfee products expired I wanted them gone from my laptop. But NOTHING I do is the right thing to remove the McAfee Anti Theft, I mean, I have contacted McAfee and no one knows how to remove this thing from my desktop. Is this a very stubborn virus or something else? I'm not sure if I posted on the right place, I'm sorry if I didn't. Can anyone help me to get rid of this Anti Theft?

A:McAfee Anti Theft won't uninstall!!!!

Hello app222 and welcome to Bleeping Computer.
This topic is in the wrong forum as this is the Malware Removal forum and we're not experts in this kind of problem.
That said, I have found from doing a quick search that the MCPR tool is not meant for use with McAfee Anti-Theft so it will not uninstall it.
Apparently, McAfee Anti-Theft is supplied by Intel.and you'll have to go to go to the Control Panel and uninstall Intel AT Service. As part of the process you'll have to supply your McAfee e-mail address and password. If you don't have one I'm afraid you'll have to subscribe in order to uninstall it.
Please let me know if that worked.
