I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just installed two 16 gb DDR4-2400 modules on my Tiny desktop and within minutes the computer just shuts down.  I tested the modules on another like desktop and same issue occured.  I am however able to sucessfully run with a single 16 GB or a combination of 16 GB and 4 GB modules.  The shutdown occurs only when using the full 32 gb.  I have verified with Crucial that the modules are compatible.  I have also tried another set of modules with same results.  Chipset and Bios are up to date and this is a clean build of Windows 10, version 1809.  Thoughts on what could be the issue?

A:M710q Tiny: Memory RAM upgrade to 32 GB = Shutdown in minutes. Solved: use Kingston memory

I have run into the same issue with Lenovo M900 Tiny model 10FM and above at my workplace.  One stick of 16GB will work (using that now), two sticks however shuts down the system 1 minute into power up...

I used Crucials memory checker, received two DDR4-2400 sodimm 1.2v cl17 16gb dual sided chips (kit of 2x16GB).  System would power up, go into Windows 10, be up for Approx 1 minute and system would power off.  You cannot repower the system, it turns on and shuts off immediately.  Pulling power to the device, plugging in again, will let it power to same point as before.  Approx 1 minute into having both modules installed.

Currently allowing the 16gb to remain to monitor for any issues.  The stick that came out was from the manufacturer, an 8gb with QC M02089 on it, no other markings.  It will not work in either socket with the 16gb chip.  TC steps as follows:

- Both 16 gb chips installed, power off after 1 minute up
- Single 16gb chip, stable
- Single 8gb chip, stable
- Swap 16gb chips in sockets, power off after 1 minute up
- New set of 16 gb modules, same issue as before (these were slightly higher freqency of 2666MHz)

Seems like a power issue on the mobo, too much draw.  As a cannot find any information on the installed chip itself creates a problem I can't get past.

I have just bought some new memory, 2 x 1 gig, inserted it and ran the test. I get one error in the Stride38 test. Address expected is different to the one returned.

I know which chip it is, should I send it back, or is this 1 error acceptable for the system?

Thanks for your response

Hi bruce90matrix,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Similar to discussions here and here:

Product specifications:
16GB max7 ; PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3*, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets

OEM recommended HDD capacity is 1TB as offered here on the FRU list of the hardware manual (page 26 here).
Resellers like crucial would offer 2 TB so it would be best to check returns options just in case.

Hope this helps answer your query.

I have a home built ASUS A7N8X2 Deluxe MoBo with an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ CPU. I upgraded Win XP Pro to VISTA Ultimate with no problems other than upgrading a few drivers. It went smoothly. At the time I had 1 GB in one of 3 available slots. I attempted to add 2 GB more to occupy all 3 slots. This produced a reboot after POST as VISTA started. I rotated the the modules through all slots and finally realized that when I went beyond 2 GB it produced a reboot. During post it tests 3 GB and the BIOS displays 3 GB. I have 512MB of RAM on the video card. Any suggestions ?? I am running the latest BIOS and if I remove one GB the machine boots and runs great... ???? Ron

I want to upgrade the memory of one of the pc's in our house. I get low memory alerts often and I can't delete much else to create room. I have never opened up a pc before, and I don't want to screw up and make things worse. The pc in question is a HP Pavilion a1150Y with a Intel Pentium 4 (3.00 GHz). OS is Windows XP SP2. It came with 512MB RAM and I would like to go up 2GB. I went to www.crucial.com, ran the system scan, and it says that this type of memory can go into that pc: "DDRII memory with support for DDR2 PC2-4200,DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-6400,DDR2 PC2-8500 speeds." I don't know what speed I should be installing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your message.Yes, this memory is compatible with the system. This system model has 4 memory slots & supports a maximum up to 32 GB @ 1600 MHz DDR3/DDR3L (1.5 V).However, if you use memory stick of two different speeds, the memory will be down- clocked to the lowest speed. We would recommend you to look for a memory which has a speed of 1600 MHz for better performance.

Hello together !

For your information:

Did a memory upgrade today at 2 Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 (1,9 GH, 256 MB DDR-RAM originally), both up to 1 GB, all fine and not problems.

Just wanted to end rumours about "only 512 MB all together" or even less.

If searching for it, remember to think of the specifications:

DDR-266 (PC2100)
DDR-SDRAM, SO-DIMM
200 PIN
CL 2.5

concerning RAM frequency, building form etc.

Greetings

P.S.: Don`t think a discussion is necessary, thread could therefore be closed...

A:Re: How to upgrade memory on Qosmio G30-201 and where to buy memory

Your notebook can handle with 4GB of RAM and I recommend you to use 2 x 2GB module.
Compatible 2 GB module has part number PA3513U-1M2G or Kingston KTT667D2/2G.

Put the part umber in Google and you will find a place where you can order it in your country.

I recently upgraded my Windows 7 laptop from 4GB of physical memory to 8 GB. The Bios immediately recognized the added memory but it appears the Task Manager physical memory has not changed and only recognizes ~3.5 GB of available memory. Is there a way
to have Task Manager recognize the added memory? Is the fact that the Task Manager does not recognize the added memory mean other functions are not recognizing the added memory?

Hello,  I am trying to upgrade the memory on my notebook from 4GB to 8GB.  The product specs say that when when I am running windows 64-bit I can upgrade to 8GB of RAM.  I have bought two sticks of 4GB ram to upgrade but windows 7 will not boot up.  I went into the system BIOS and it says that there are 8GB of ram running but again windows 7 will not boot.  I have tried each stick individually and windows will boot up fine with a 4 GB stick in one of the slots.   The furthest my computer will get is when windows begins to boot up before I get to the login screen it takes me to the blue screen of death and says "a problem has been detected and wondows has been shut down to prevent damage....." Down at the bottom of the screen the technical informatioin codes state" """" Stop: 0x0000007E  (0xFFFFFFFF80002DC1B05, 0xFFFFF880031D1...., 0xFFFFF880031D16c0) Maybe someone can shed some light as to what these technical codes are letting me know and how I can get windows to boot up with 8GB of memory.   Thanks,

Hi,
Please can you help me install 4gb of RAM on to my computer?
I have installed win7 64. At the same time I have tried to increase the memory from 2gb to 4gb on my Asrock 939s56-m mobo.
The DOS says 4096 ok
The Bios says 4096
The win7 64 says installed memory 2gb
The memory is new from Crucial. The memory can be moved around in pairs into the new slots, but it only records 2gb.
In MSCONFIG BOOT ADVANCED OPTIONS it records 0 maximum memory or gives the choice of 258. If I uncheck the maximum memory it BSOD's. When in safe mode it sometimes gives the 4096 option in MSCONFIG, but not in standard mode.
The Bios is up-to-date for the cpu and mobo: AMD 64 3700+ (Bios P1.30).
It contains a Radeon X1600/X1650.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Anybody know why the total 4GB of RAM is not recognized.

You probably have a 32 bit operating system and that is about the limit that a 32 bit OS will recognize. If you want more RAM recognized, you will need a 64 bit OS.

A:Memory Upgrade.

32 bit OS's cannot see a full 4 gigs, it's one of their design limitations, 4 gigs is the most they can address and some of those addresses have to be reserved for core windows functions like video memory mapping
64 bit OS's can address much more than the chipsets can support or motherboards can physically hold

Hello to all

Gateway 500 S ( Essex model) 256MB RAM

IE6

I would like to add an additional 256MB of memory to the above mentioned machine. Gateway Remote Assitance has told me that I have two memory slots. Currently, they are occupied by two 128MB cards. I need to purchase "in pairs" according to their instructions ( I.E. two 256MB cards) and remove the current 128's and replace them with the 256's which leads me to my specific question. In my System Tray, I have a "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. How does this icon figure in to the overall procedure in getting this upgrade in place and do you have any suggestions about a good way to accomplish said upgrade ?
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance !

you need to power off the machine and then open the box and replace the two memory chips with chips compatable with the PC

I was thinking about upgrading the memory in my desktop computer but I am confused about what to purchase. My computer is an HP Pavilion P2-1013W.

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03052631

It says:
Memory upgrade information

Single channel memory architecture
Two 240-pin DDR3 UDIMM sockets
Supports the following:

PC3-6400 (DDR3-800)
PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066)
Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit* systems
Supports up to 32 GB on 64-bit systems (with 16 GB DIMMs)
but when I look up the memory cards some of them say they are for Dell or laptops.

Can I put in 2- 16 GB cards? Can you find 16 GB cards? I have the 64 bit system.
I am so confused, any help would be appriciated!

i upgraded laptop RAM from 1GB to 3GB and it made no difference in computer performance, not even 1%.....................

hehehheeheheh

It depends on what you're running at the moment. If all running processes use less than a gb, it doesnt matter how much physical ram you have installed.

Hi,If module doesn't pass memory test from BIOS, it means it is a bad part. Get it replaced immediately, it'll be still within replacement period.Manual: Page 41http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04655126Did you get two 8gb sticks DDR3L PC3L-12800 1.35V 1600MHz SO-DIMM SDRAM of exact same configuration as given in Manual?RegardsVisruth
