Auburn Tigers All-SEC linebacker K.J. Britt to undergo thumb surgery

Q: Auburn Tigers All-SEC linebacker K.J. Britt to undergo thumb surgery

AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn All-Southeastern Conference linebacker K.J. Britt will undergo thumb surgery.
Team spokesperson Kirk Sampson said Thursday that Britt is scheduled to undergo surgery on Friday, a day before the 13th-ranked Tigers host Arkansas. It wasn't immediately clear how long Britt will be out.
Britt is leading the team with 23 tackles through two games, including one tackle for loss. He was a first-team Associated Press All-SEC pick last season and is a team captain.
Britt had 69 tackles last season, including 10 for a loss and 2.5 sacks. Freshman Wesley Steiner is listed as his backup.
Fellow linebacker Chandler Wooten had already opted out for the season.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all, This is my first post. My brother in law guided me here and tells me that there are potential friends and super techs that may be able to help me rid my computer of bad guys. He asked me to post this HiJack This log and to await further instructions. If this post is twice on it is because I could not find it after I posted the first time.

Ok so I seem to have more infections than a hosiptal wing. I've tried doing the things I've seen in other threads but nothing seems to get cleaned at all. I've downloaded the following in my search for cleanliness:
Spybot Search and Destroy

Counter Spy
Ad Aware
Ewido Anti-Spyware
CleanUP!
Hijack This

I have ran all of these in normal mode and safe mode, and everything just keeps coming back. If I run the same one over and over it will always find something, it never comes back clean. I found this God send of a site by searching for the "Command Service Virus" and "TagASaurus virus" and tried to follow those streams. Nothing seems to be working so I thought I should start fresh and hope that you'll help me. Important note I've just installed a new hard drive and clean Windows XP before this happened. I have no data to lose if you think formatting my drive and reinstalling XP from the begining would do the trick I have no problem with that. But I've heard that doesn't always get rid of viruses.

Also I use Firefox as my browser.

Here is my Hijack this log file.

Hi,
From what you say I think you need to post a HijackThis log and then wait for someone qualified (gold shield next to their name) to take you through what needs to be done. Please go no further than the steps below and posting your results for now.You may want to print off this guide just in case.

Using Hijackthis with the self-installer that puts it into Program Files for you:

go to Click here to download HJTsetup.exe

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.

Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.

Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.

Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then save the log and then the log will open in Notepad.

Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Once you've done this, hang on for further guidance.

Richard.

Yesterday I spent two hours opening a Radeon 5850, cleaning and lubing it. It was noisy as hell and now it's quiet, so time well spent.

A:My most complex surgery I ever did

Did you happen to document your progress? Like take pictures of the before, during and after? How about recording fan speeds and temps for the before and after? What did you use to clean it?
Just thinking if someone comes here looking for information on how to do what you just did, by having such information attached, it may very well help that person make a decision on doing it themselves versus bringing it to a "Computer Repair" shop.

Presario V3000 laptop, XP, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150, drivers up to date, so Windows says.

Modem went out, sent to HP twice. Finally fixed. They had to change main board. Now it looks like a wide screen TV receiving nonHD signal and stretching it to full screen. What should be a square is wider than tall.

Also seems to be glary. White fonts on desktop under icons were opaque until I changed to bold font. Menu font (black) sometimes seems to fade together.

It's probably settings, but I don't know where.

I can call HP (AGAIN) but (no offense to anyone) I just hate to talk to people I have trouble understanding. Thought someone here might be able to help.

Appreciate any help.

Good morning, all! I would like to transplant a Samsung EVO 850 SSD into my Ideapad Z580 notebook from another machine of mine. The SSD has a different OS on it (Linux Mint) than what is on the Lenovo's HDD (which is Windows 8.1), and it is also half the size of the HDD (SSD=250GB, HDD=500GB). When I attempted the transplant, the Lenovo would not boot up past the opening screen and gave me an error message that stated something along the lines of (it went by fast, so I couldn't get the exact wording) "PCI (?) media test failure, please check cable." When I put the original HDD back in there, it booted up as though nothing had happened. I'm wondering why this happened, and would putting a new SSD in there to do a clean install of my OS of choice be preferable? Also, when I attempted to use both a USB drive and a disc to install my OS of choice on it, I could not get it to boot from either of those options in BIOS. What am I doing wrong, here?

A:Ideapad Brain Surgery Not Working!

I would expect it to work.  Are you sure the SSD is good?

Hi all,
Haven't made a post in a long time and I'm surprised my account is still active.

Here's the verdict; my laptop came shipped with an OEM Windows Vista installation. I wanted to dual-boot it with Windows XP but needed XP on the C: partition (plus the issue with older version of windows should be installed before a new version is installed) forced me to re-format, install XP SP3, install all the drivers and bring me to what it is now.

My laptop is fully functioning with Windows XP. I have a Linux Ubuntu 8.04 CD, Windows Vista OEM dvd and windows xp sp3 cd at hand. I want to dual boot my system with either windows vista, linux, or both.

Please answer these two questions:

1.) If I create a new partition and install Vista on the new partition, is it possible to upgrade the Vista installation to Windows 7 WITHOUT DOING ANY HARM AT ALL TO THE XP PARTITION OR IT'S BOOT LOADER? So I will then have a dual boot system with Windows XP and 7 (and both OS's fully working)?

2.) If I install Linux in a new partition alongside my XP partition will it be possible to install vista on a third partition AFTER I have installed Linux? So the order in which the operating systems have been installed would be:
- 1. Windows XP installed first
- 2. Linux Ubuntu installed second
- 3. Windows Vista installed third

Any help will be very much appreciated (as long as it's from someone who knows what they are talking about).

Thanks

A:I keep having Thumb.db's appear

Hello and Welcome. Please subscribe to this thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted.

Thumbs.db is not something to worry about. It's a hidden file generated by the Windows operating system. Since it is "hidden," not everyone sees it (even though it exists) unless they have chose to "Show hidden files." It is a database file containing the small images displayed when you view a folder in "thumbnail" view (as opposed to tile, icon, list, or detail view).

If you want to turn OFF this feature, here's how:

1. Open up the Control Panel
2. Select Folder Options
3. Click the View tab (see picture below)
4. Check "Do not cache thumbnails"
5. Click the OK button

Please re-install AVG onto your machine. In this day & age, surfing the internet without the protection of an antivirus program is like begging for a bullet.

When you eject the USB flash drive do you click the Safely Remove Icon before pulling it out? If you don't, it will have a hard time connecting next time you put it in.
If the USB Flash Drive is not recognized when you put it in, go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager are there any devices with a Yellow Flag or under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is there an Unknown Device? If so, right click it and Uninstall it, then remove the Flash Drive and restart your computer. Put the Flash drive into a different USB port. If you don't want to restart, put the USB into a different USB port and in the Device Manager, Right click Any device and choose Scan For Hardware Changes. You should get New Hardware Found.

Somehow only one of my thumb drives has been assigned to a port/hub which is usb 1.1. I would like to get it unassigned from port 1/hub 6 and let it find an USB 2.0 port/hub.

There are no warnings in device manager and the thumb drive always works, just slower than before.

I have re-formatted the drive, uninstalled the drive but each time Win7 finds it, it reassigns it to port1/hub 6. I have even uninstalled the hub.

I do have a drive letter assigned to thumb drive. Nothing else uses that drive letter.

I repeat that other thumbs behave properly. (IE use usb 2 ).

Any suggestions

I'd try copying the files it won't play over to the local drive. Then you can find out if it is a problem with your drive, files, or if you are just using to much RAM on other things- netbooks typically can't run tons of apps at once since they usually only come with 1-2GB

HELP!!! I just bought a new PNY 8gb thumb drive for my Dell E6400 laptop running XP. It worked great for the first few tries. Today, every time I plug it in the USB port I keep getting "Cannot find HOnEq.Exe"
I don't know why it's not auto-playing, and allowing me to read the files I put on the thumb drive earlier. But, I can go to My Computer, and right click on the thumbdrive to view the contents. But why did it stop automatically recognize the thumbdrive and why is that warning constantly popping up. There is no virus..I scanned that. All devices appear to be working. Should I return the thumb drive and get a different brand/model? Or is there a simple fix? Also, I checked to update the driver but it said I already had the latest driver. Did something get corrupted? HELP!!!

A:PNY 8gb Thumb Drive

The most likely situation is that the thumb drive got a virus which was later removed by your antivirus or someone else's. In that case there will still be a file (probably a hidden and system file) called "Autorun.inf". If you delete that file the drive will be back to normal.

In case you don't know, to show hidden and system files go to tools>Folder options>view, check show hidden files and folders and uncheck hide protected Opperating system files.

Hi All my problem is this I have a Dell laptop and when at home and I put the usb thumb drive in to it I can read it ok, but when I take the laptop away with me to another location the laptop cannot read the it (the thumb drive)
The laptop is not connected to the internet at either location
I have tried it on different Laptops same result there dosen't seem any logical reason for this as other usb drives work ok
Many thanks for any help that can be given.

Bought a twin pack of 1 GB thumb drives. One works fine, other one doesn't. I plug it in & it shows up as removable disk K. Tried to drag flies onto it & it says "please insert a disk into removable drive K." Hello? It's already plugged in! Might it just be a dud, since the other one that came in the pack is fine? I didn't pay that much so I don't mind just throwing it out, since trying to get it working is causing me major headaches. The brand is LGear bought from Futureshop. And I'm running Vista Home Premium. GRRR!! I should just smash it with a hammer & be done with it!

I run Vista and found somekind of conflict in installing the driver on this platform for UMAX Astra Scanner#3400. Have been bombarded by various update driver programs...but none of them will tell me whether or not (after I buy their program)that their driver update will solve the one problem as stated above. Maybe nothing will work on the Vista Platform ???? Maybe it's just incompatable with that scanner??? I have been thinking about a USB thumb drive or stick drive and is there enough capacity on one of these stick drives to accommaadate a new platform and under which I may be able to install the driver for the scanner??? (which I have on a CD disk that came with the scanner.)

At the UMAX site there is no Vista driver listed for that model scanner.

I am old school, so this new computer has thrown me a bit.   I am presuming that the USB ports on the top of the Envy tower are for thumb/flash drives.  I attempted to insert one and it will not go in.  I was able to insert it in a USB port in the back of the tower, but was unable to find any drive to open it.  What as I doing wrong?   Thanks much

Just purchased 128mb thumb drive, using usb port. I changed the drive lettet to "F", in admin tools, so it wouldn't conflict w/any other drives, removable and otherwise. Can't get it to show up in "my computer", under removable drives. Device mgr says working properly. Can you help. Thank you. Insurer.

A:thumb drive not showing up

Ummm....don't assign a drive letter in admin tools as this is a removable drive and will be assigned a drive letter dynamically. If new fixed drives or network drives are added the letter will automatically change.

A Compaq notebook running Win ME which previously would recognize my thumb drives will no longer recognize the drive. The USB port definitely works when connected to a USB printer. I've tried plugging in the thumb drive both before booting and after booting, but Win ME just won't find it. I'm at a loss... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Your drivers for the thumb drive or devices like it are missing or corrupt. Go the manufacture site for download and instructions

Hello

I have to take my USB drive to different locations and I have seen that sometimes certain viruses migrate from the Host PC to my USB which are picked up by my own PC's virus scanner.
So, I was wondering is it possible to install an AV for my USB drive so that it will stop viruses from other PCs to my USB drive?

Please help.

Thank you

I have a 512mb Verbatim thumb drive (one of several) that I use to play music from in the car. Today I tried to remove the current set of songs and replace with different ones. When I insert the drive into the computer it says that I need to format the drive prior to using. Odd, but I tried to format the drive. It then returns a message that says it cannot perform that format. I've tried different USB ports, all the same.
Have I just lost this drive and toss it?

A:Thumb Drive Not Working

See if you can assign it a drive letter.

Right-click My Computer and select Manage.

Click Disk Management on the left, and it should show in the right pane. If so, right-click on it and assign a letter.

If it doesn't show, something is wrong with it.

My computer does not recognize the thumb drive I just plugged in. Up to now no problem. When I jiggle it I hear it beep and then an error message came on quickly and then went off stating that the thumb drive appears to be damaged and can't be read.

Is there any suggestions of how I can get it to work at least one more time so I can transfer the data to another drive?

Any help will be appreciated

I work on various system (mostly XP/Vista and some Linux...not many Mac's) and I was looking into the possibility of purchasing an 8GB thumb drv and partitioning it for 4GB Windows and 4GB of Linux.

I'm wanting to be able to boot from either partition via a boot loader (providing the BIOS supports it) and then run the chosen OS for diagnostics or for wireless email checking...web browsing...etc.

I havent been able to run across a boot loader or instructions on how to partition the thumb drv.
http://portableapps.com is one site I've found...they have all the apps I need but dont provide details on the partitioning/dual-booting procedure.

Any thoughts/ideas/links would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Many Linux destros support usb flash drive installs, check the above links. Especially DSL is famous for this ability. I also have heard of Ubuntu running of a usb drive. For windows I am not sure but after some googling I came across the 3d link!

A few days ago I bought an 8gb flash drive, but when I tried it on my computer, it didn't seem to work properly. I was trying to transfer over a large file ( >2gb) and the first 1/3 of the file transferred in like 30 seconds, but then the speed dropped right down and it told me 3 hours remaining. I tried several other files and the same thing occurred. And yes, I remembered to format it to NTFS since it came FAT32.

Since I figured it was a problem with the thumb drive, I brought it back to the store to exchange it. The guy at the store decided to test it on his computer, and it seemed to be working fine. His computer was running XP and I'm running Windows 7 so maybe that's an issue somewhere? Anyways, he gave me a different model thumb drive since mine wasn't working for me.

The new one had the same issues. I even tried smaller files such as pictures, but it would take forever to copy. I even tried the drive on my dad's computer which is also running Windows 7, and it had the same problem. But his 512mb flash drive seemed to work fine on his computer.

I finally said screw it and just went and bought a SanDisk flash drive since the first one I bought was a refurbished one from a discount store. This one won't work properly either, and the package specifically mentions that it's compatible with Windows 7.

I've tried updating and then uninstalling/reinstalling all my usb drivers to no avail. I don't have a clue as to why these ... Read more

A:Problems with USB Thumb Drives

Not quite as bad as yours but I had similar problems with flash drives formatted NTFS. NTFS is slower by a very noticable amount. The only reason I can see to use NTFS on a flash drive is if you are going to store files larger than 4G.
