Exporting Hotmail Contacts

Q: Exporting Hotmail Contacts

Dear friends:

How do I export Hotmail contacts, please? I've looked in vain for an Export option in Hotmail. What am I missing?

Or would it be possible to transfer the Hotmail contacts to Outlook?

Thank you so much.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am using Windows Vista Home Basic.

I have been using MSN Explorer instead of Internet Explorer. I have now started an e-mail account with Windows Live Mail. I would like to export my MSN mail contacts to my new Live Mail (or conversely import the MSN contacts into Live Mail).

A:Contacts - exporting & importing

I have not used MSN, does it offer an option to Export your contacts as a text or .csv file?
How detailed is the Contact information in MSN?

If all you need to Export is e-mail addresses only, create a new message in MSN, add all the contacts to the TO: field, then select all the addresses, in the TO: field, copy and paste the e-mail addresses into the body of the message and send it to yourself, be sure to clear the e-mail addresses from the TO: field, first.

Are you using the web based Windows Live only, or did you download and install Windows Live Mail?

Hello Pashers, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You can also just copy the contact files directly from the C:\Users\(user name)\Contacts folder to your backup location like any other file on the computer, then just copy them back to the same location to restore them.

Hope this helps,

Luckily, many weeks before my 8-year old HP Notebook crashed, I printed out my LONG list of Outlook CSV contacts, which I want to locate in my new HP Notebook and import into my gmail and/or hotmail accounts. I've researched this, but nothing is working. Hope someone can help me with this dilemma!

A:Problems with importing/exporting my contacts

Never had this to work either. I had to put mine in manually. What I did to save my addresses is create an e-mail and address it to every one in my address book. Don't send it just print it. If you go to print the address book it will be about 30 pages. It skips about 4 lines between each one.

I have several hundred email addresses that when I type a few letters into the Outlook 2011 (Mac) address bar, autocomplete. Outlook definitely knows those addresses. Because it autocompletes them.

However, these same addresses are not in my contacts list, cannot be found using a contacts search - and do not appear in the exported .txt file when i try to export contacts.

But I need to export them... with some urgency. Where are they? How can I get them in a long list so that i can send a mass email?

Does anybody know what's going on? Please help

I am constantly trying to figure out how to get contacts from one email to the next. My latest task is to convert an AOL address Book to Gmail. The problem like always is the fields do not line up and your left with an incorrect/incomplete Gmail contact list. I know you can go into a CSV file via Excel and edit the fields. However, this takes time and there seems like the risk of making an error. I have come across the following program Address Magic Personal PLUS and it retails for $50. Unfortunately everytime I try to add the contacts gmail says there is a problem with the csv file.

Can anyone help me on this?
It looks like it should be easy.
I start off by clicking on " contacts" at the bottom left (below "calendar" and above "feeds")
Then , being sure to highlight a contact , I click on the tab underneath where it says "export" (at the top near the middle -just to the right of where it says import and to the left of where it says "directories") and am invited to choose between .csv or .vcf formats.
I choose one of these and

nothing happens...

I imagine I have failed to spot the next step... unless the program is at fault

I need to do this as I want to backup the program prior to uninstalling and replacing it since there is a small problem that recurrs each time I open it...

I've almost always used Win Live Mail (me @ msn.com), but was advised this week to switch to Hotmail after my e-mail was hijacked & bogus msgs went to a lot of my contacts (& a few that are not my contacts).

I'm not "comfortable" with Hotmail. WLM is just easier for me to work with, maybe because it seems more like old Outlook Express. Anyway, I'm having trouble navigating within Hotmail. Things seem to change in subtle ways (& sometimes, not so subtle) from session to session or within a session. I'm sure I've clicked the wrong place, but . . .

In Hotmail (Outlook) all my folders are listed on the left. Yesterday(?), my contacts (& I think some other stuff) were listed at the bottom of that list. Maybe I somehow collapsed the contact list & then saw contacts. Today I can't find contacts anywhere. Where are they?

Hotmail users, could you help me out here? Once upon a time, I had a short list of "favourites" on the compose message page, and then Hotmail changed that and put my entire list of contacts in a drop-down menu (by email address, not by name -- awkward, but I managed). Now that's gone as well.

I spent a good half hour last night, trying to build a favourites list ... read through all the help topics, and found nothing to tell me how to do it. I open up the "Favourites" and it tells me there's nothing in there; I try to "edit favourites", but I can't type in addresses, and there's nothing in the contact list that I can *add* to the favourites list. I opened up a contact at random, and there is all the info: the name, quickname and email address ... and a little box -- already ticked -- that says "mark this contact as a favourite" ... but my favourites list is still empty.

Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone else have this problem? Clues how to fix it?

Wondering if anyone could give me some advice please? I received an email from someone who also has a hotmail account. I saved their details by simply clicking the 'save to contact' button. Since I did that, all their further emails between us now appeared under a nickname. Unfortunately this nickname wasn't particularly flattering and I'm in the embarrassing position of being accused of storing this person under this term I am absolutely positive that I have not done this and wonder whether this person (unknowingly) has a nickname attached to their account that would show when another hotmail account holder accepts them as a trusted contact? I have tried to ask this on Hotmail without success,

If anyone knows how nicknames on Hotmail work I would be very grateful for any advice,

Thank you

Hi. I'm at something of a wit's end. I've had a situation for a bout a week where my Hotmail account has sent multiple emails to various members of my contacts list without my permission. I have changed my password on multiple occasions and am fairly confident that the problem is not one of my account being compromised in the traditional fashion.

I have run multiple Spyware/Malware removal tools to no avail and have Microsoft Security Essentials installed with definitions up-to-date.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Recently my Hotmail account sent out spam to all the contacts on my list (something about an ipod deal), but I checked my sent folder and nothing was shown to leave my account, so I'm wondering if it was a virus. If so, does anyone know how I can get rid of it?

I've changed my Hotmail password just to be safe. I also run full Norton Anti-Virus scans everyday, but nothing has been found except tracking cookies! I have no idea what's going on with my computer...please help!

Thank you!

This problem has occurred several times and has caused me great embarrassment. I click a name from my contacts list, which appears in the "send to" field. The name I select is the only name displayed in that field, and no names are displayed in the CC or BCC fields. I write my email and send it, but when I recieve the hotmail confirmation, it says my email has been sent to my intended receipient, as well as some other random person in the address book (not anyone near the intended person in alphebetical order). One particularly graphic email I sent to my boyfriend was somehow also sent by hotmail to my MOTHER, much to everyone's horror. Why?! Has this happened to anyone else? Can I prevent this in the future??

Hello sjackson24, and Welcome to TSF!

This problem sounds very suspicious to me, in that I think that you might have a malware/spyware issue.

I suggest that you go to this link.....

When I want to send an email, I type the first letter of the To name and I get a drop down menu. Some of the names listed are not in my Contact list and cannot be deleted by clicking X within the drop down menu.. How should I delete them?
