I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, I have a Lenovo T430 laptop.I updated to Intel Management Engine Firmware 8.1  , and saw a big performance loss. In Windows Experience Index, My processor had a subscore of 5.9 before, (with version 8.0), now it has dropped to 4.9.  And it is actually very noticeable. My question is: Is it possible to download to 8.0 again? I know about the risks, but I am willing to take it. I tried downloading the 8.0 version, to downgrade, but it doesn't work. (ass seen in the picture). So, as said: What can I do to downgrade to 8.0?Thanks for help.

When I run the "Update" app on "Lenovo Companion" it tells me I need this and then appears to go through the whole installation process followed by a reboot. But then when I run the "Update" app again it tells me I still need to install it, as if it never happened. I went to the Lenovo support page to try to install it from there but I have the same problem, in that after rebooting and running the "Update" feature it tells me I still need to install it. Any ideas? Thanks.

On my P50, when I check for updates with Lenovo Companion, it always tries to install Intel Management Engine 11.0 Firmware, and it downloads, says it failed when the little black command prompt opens, reboots, and then the update history said it was installed, yet Intel Management Engine 11.0 Firmware keeps popping up as an update.  What is this update supposed to do? Why is it failing? Everything else on this computer is up to date.

I have a ProBook 450 G3 running Windows 10. I am planning on updating the BIOS to N78 Ver. 01.15 Rev.A (from Ver. 01.12). I noticed the following statement on the BIOS download page: "HP strongly recommends updating the Management Engine firmware to version 11.0.18.1002 to prevent BIOS/Management Engine firmware corruption issues.". How can I determine the version of the IME firmware on my system? The latest version of the IME firmware for download is 11.0.0.1202 ... should I just go ahead and download and install that before the BIOS update? Thanks in advance,Mike

A:BIOS Update / Intel Management Engine Firmware

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. To answer your question about Intel ME... Perhaps in the Control Panel > Programs and features. When you find it there click on it and it should show a versionorif you search for it in C:\Program files or C:\Program files (x86) and search inside the folder, it should show the version somewhere. You may also see if this tool will work on W10 > https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19009     But considering you already have experience with BIOS things , I am wondering why do you want to do it again... General recommendation I provide to users/customers is NOT to upgrade BIOS/UEFI unless they experience any kind of specific BIOS/UEFI issue. Updating just for the "noble cause" of updaing and just for using the latest verson is not solution. Any kind of update (no matter for what and who relesed it) can fix 2 issues but may introduce 10 more issues. Additionally, upgrading the BIOS (for any vendor) poses more risks because BIOS recovery is not that easy as compared to typical software updates IF something goes wrong. Same applies for Windows Updates, OS update, drivers updates, etc - upgrade/update IF you have issues which you know are fixed in the newer version or for some severe security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.

A couple of days ago i updated the Intel Management Engine Firmware to version 9.5 through the Lenovo System Update software. Imediately after restarting I noticed how much slower the computer was. It took some extra time to boot up, and was much, MUCH slower at starting up apps like spotify and firefox, etc. I also noticed a massive slowdown when playing. The task manager shows a normal usage of CPU, RAM and GPU, I'm usually at no more than 40% and I can still notice the slow down at all times. Is there a way to roll this update back? Do I have to wait until another not-messed up update? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I am not a native speaker so that the description below may not be clear. Last night when my laptop attempt to upgrade its Intel ME firmware, the system appears a blue screen with words "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed". After that, the procedure of boot of my laptop became "auto power off twice after press the power button, then it will boot into BIOS itself". In other words, it likes: t0: Power button pressedt1: Screen was turned on for about 1 sec, then the whole laptop powered off.t2: happen the process of t1 againt3: boot into BIOS I guess the Intel ME firmware was broken. I tried to googled for related information but found nothing. I swear I will not upgrade my BIOS or Intel ME firmware anymore... Then I downloaded the Lenovo Recovery Image and used it to reset my computer into the factory status, but the issue still exists. I think it is because the Intel ME is a independent chip to the OS, so even recovery cannot help. Thanks for your kind help.

I was pretty shocked to see this update.  Apparently, intel management engine is a backdoor which allows full control of the machine, even if the power is off. It is something on intel motherboards.  It has been noted that a backdoor can be used by a) legitimate corporate administrators, b) hackers c) gov. organisations. Firstly, why would any user want to install a back door which allows undetectable access to the machine without the users knowlege or inteveition? Secondly, why is this installed by Lenovo as standard, if it is only used by some large organisations? Or am I wrong? I have seen many articales about it saying "Intels management engine is the single most dangerous piece of computer hardward ever created", mainly because it has access to everything and noone knows exactly what it can do. Now I am trying to find a way to remove this major security back door. It seems that noone knows if disabling it in the bios is actaully disabling it, or not. It seems not, as you can still get a response from AMT if you hit: http://127.0.0.1:16992/logon.htm, and if you open the "intel management and security status" application, it says that AMT is enabled. It seems ifyou connect to a public wifi, the machnes AMT is avaible to everyone on the network. I have also seen that there are exploits allowing hackers to gain full access to your machine with trivial exploits such as sending null password. Very very bad. ... A:critical update: "intel management Engine 8.1 Firmware" a potential major security back door?

Management Engine's behavior has been well documented since it's inception. You're a little late to the party The legitimate and intended use of the feature is for system administrators to provision and manage corporate machines remotely and conveniently. It's not installed by Lenovo as standard, but rather Intel on any platform certified vPro (your system would have had this sticker from the factory). If you are not in a corporate environment managed by Intel AMT, then it only provides risks and zero benefit. Removing it is impossible; wiping the ME firmware externally causes your system to shutdown 30 minutes after boot. The firmware update you see fixes an exploitable vulnerability that was recently discovered in Intel's ME firmware.

Hello all,
I have DELL Inspiron 15R 5520 with freshly installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 but some annoying issues began to occur after cold booting my laptop :
1- 15 seconds delay between the power up lights turn on and the DELL BIOS logo.
2- A yellow mark appears next to Intel Management Engine Interface Driver with Error Code 10 ( this device could not start ), but this problem disappears when i restart my laptop and comes back after a cold boot.
I tried many things to solve this problem but none of them worked for me :
1- I tried a clean install of Windows and installing all drivers in correct order > didn't work.
2- I tried upgrading to latest BIOS and resetting CMOS Battery > same problem.
3- I tried uninstalling IMEI driver and reinstalling it again after a restart > nothing works.
A friend of mine told me that there may be a problem with Intel Management Firmware and this could probably cause that slow BIOS startup and the problem of IMEI driver in device manager.
So, can anyone suggest an effective way to fix that Intel Management Engine firmware corruption ?
And if its not the firmware...what could cause that BIOS delay ? Could the MB be faulty or something ?
I'm waiting for your replies and thanks in advance.

Greetings everyone!I've got a Lenovo T520 running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with Service Pack 1. Two days ago I upgraded Intel Management Engine Firmware to version 7.1.91.3272 via Lenovo System Update. Since then my laptop has lost the ability to sleep. When I press the Sleep key my laptop performs an emergency power-off and then asks me if I want to start Windows normally or in the safe mode when I power it up again. The hybrid sleep function still works, but it takes much longer than just dumping the current session into RAM. I tried everything: updated the BIOS firmware (1.46) and the Intel 3000 video card drivers (9.17.10.4229). I have the latest Lenovo Power Manager software (6.68.13) too.Is there a way to roll back the Intel Management Engine Firmware to an earlier version?

(40+ minutes)Every so often (every 5mins?), it the upper progress bar in the "system update" will backup a little bit...then it will move forward again a minute or so later. Umm...I need to use my computer.  It's been about 45 minutes that I've been looking at this screen with no change (other than the backup-forward cha-cha in the gui progress bar).(image to help) (the progress bar is in it's full position, this is what it looks like after the top progress bar moves forward again after backing up a wee bit, when it backs up, it just doubles that gray area at the end, it doesn't move back a whole lot).I am guessing I cannot restart at this point. Can I abort the install and try again?

I have an intel DH61WW mobo, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 8.1
It shipped able to handle up to i7 3rd Gen processors only. It can be updated to accept 3rd Gen which is what I have.
I seem to be in a loop while upgrading from a Pentium G840 to an i3770 K on this Intel DH61WW motherboard.
the Problem: It seems that I need version 8.x of Intel Management Firmware and I can't get to update past version 7.1.52.1176
According to this page, I need version 8.x to continue for updates to use Windows 8 & 8.1

So far, I have had the bios version update to
BEH 6110H.86A.0048.2012.1105.1520
I had the i7 installed but it acted confused. So I reinstalled the Pentium and the computer works but I still can't get the Intel Management Firmware to update.
According to this page I am ready for 3rd Gen i7 but not unless Intel Management Firmware gets updated first
Board

DH61WW

3rd Gen-Ready AA#s
AAG23116-206
or later
3rd Gen-Capable AA#s
AAG23116-204
3rd Gen-Transition BIOS version
BEH6110H.86A.0035
3rd Gen-Ready BIOS version
BEH6110H.86A.0041 or later

A:Solved: Intel Management Firmware update to version 8.x

Hi everyone, I have a W540 running win8.1pro since mid-2014 and clean installed win10pro with a new SSD in mid-2016. It worked like a charm until the recent 1709 update, after which graphic stutters and cursor hangs occur every now and then. I wonder if anyone here experiences similar issues, even with other intel+nvidia thinkpad? And if any, is Lenovo aware of it or working on a solution? Here are the symptoms with my W540 after 1709: In file explorer, cursor always freezes(spinning) for 1-2 seconds when I right click on ANY .exe file if I enable NVIDIA's "Run with graphic processor" in context menu. Disable "Run with graphic processor" in context menu does relieve it.Also in file explorer, If click on a .zip file to extract with "Compressed Folder Tools"(don't need to actually extract), then even I left click ANY .exe file will cause cursor spinning for 1-2 seconds, and so does navigating forward/backward, click on certain files and folders. Reopen the file explorer the problem seems to disappear for once.Flickering animations occur when I maximize/restore/stretch certain desktop and UWP windows (file explorer, IE, chrome, mail app, etc., see gif attached). Dragging file explorer between monitors stutters even worse. I have all the updated drivers installed according to Lenovo's official site: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-w-series-laptops/thinkpad-....BTW, the System Update is not always able to find cert...
