Y520 WIFI adapter missing after January 2020 Win10 Patch update

Q: Y520 WIFI adapter missing after January 2020 Win10 Patch update

My Y520 automatically received the January, 2020 Win-10 'Patch Tuesday' update today. After it rebooted, the WIFI adapter had disappeared. It didn't even show up in the Control Panel list. I manually downloaded and installed the device driver. After rebooting multiple times, the entry showed up in Device Manager with an exclamation point, saying "Error 10, more setup was needed", but I couldn't figure what else was needed. I tried removing and reinstalling the driver, but got the same error. Finally, just to get it working, I restored to the restore point from before the update, and it came up fine. So the update did something to the WIFI device driver. I assume this is going to happen again when Windows tries to update again, and I have another duplicate Y520 which will update in a day or so, if things happen like normal, so I'd like to find out what is going on. Vantage on both systems shows that all system updates are current. The adapter is the Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A. Has anybody else had this happen with the January Windows update yet? Thanks,Ron

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

KB4534310 windows 7 January 2020 monthly update keeps failing on my system.

I have tried the following:

Ran the troubleshooter

Followed procedures to stop the Windows services and renamed the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and then apply the update.

Ran sfc /scannow - this found issues and fixed them.

Manually download the update and install it.

However, non of the above worked.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to create Wifi hotspot from my laptop running Win 8.1 to share internet with my mobile phone. But ever since upgrading to Windows 10, I am not able to get it to work, and it shows "Hosted Network supported" as "No" in Cmd Prompt.

I have updated all the drivers for Lenovo Z51-70 with all the updated drivers they had hosted for Windows 10 recently.

A:Wifi adapter driver doesn't support in AP mode after upgrading to Win10

In the current adapters properties under Sharing tab, make sure the top box is checked under ICS.

After, insure the following commands from elevated command prompt have been completed:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=whateverulike key=whateverulike

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

netsh wlan show hostednetwork

The last command should show if it worked or not.

Hi there, Recently, my USB type-c to HDMI adapter on Yoga 900S (900ML) with windows 10 beame not working. This had perfectly worked for these two years. Two weeks ago, the adapter had restricted resolution to FHD from QWHD, but it finally shows nothing on the external monitor. But they were fixed by delete and re-installation on device manager. A month ago, I updated windows 10 from 1709 to 1803. These errors come after this. Does anyone have the same issue or fix it? Hi,

I just downloaded and installed the Windows 10 Anniversary Update yesterday and so far I have noticed some changes in my computer that I was not aware of before the update.

(1) Somehow my System Restore was set to Disabled and all of my restore points are now gone and

(2) All of my Microsoft Update History is also missing.

Could the update be the cause of both?

Thanks and regards,

2harts4ever

A:Update History missing after Win10 Anniversary Update

Yes, the update is the cause of both.

Major version upgrades like this change so much functionality, they often have to reset various settings to default so that they are in a known good state. Unfortunately, many have complained about the System Restore option being reset to Disabled (this is the Windows default).

As for your previous restore points, that's to be expected. You can't restore to a previous restore point on a previous OS version. All the baseline files are different, and you would be restoring settings for the old OS if you were to somehow be able to restore it.

Think of it like a Bookmark or favorite, but they've moved the location to a different URL. Restoring the old favorite only points you to somewhere that doesn't exist anymore.

As for #2, your update history is gone because again, it's a fresh OS, and previous updates are all integrated into the OS now, not patches. Those old updates don't apply to the new OS anymore.

Hello! Unfortunately got problem with the laptop's wifi after last month's win10 update, not completly broken but working very unconsistent. It's working fine at home, although it seems like depending on where you are and what networks that are around you, i.e at work when starting up the computer sometimes it work, but the wifi-menu hangs up when trying to change network, "connecting" forever, then eventually crashes and the menu don't show any networks at all. I mean the wifi wasn't just disconnected but there was no wifi adpater under device manager list. Once i selected scan for hardware changes it usually used to be back again. But on the last wednesday it just didn't and now it's gone forever. Tried restarting several times which didnt help ofcourse.  I thought of restoring system using windows system restore to a date before i had this problem. Now as the laptop booted again the wifi was back and working normally as it used to. I never put my laptop to sleep but just turned it off. Next morning the wifi was still working and i thought the problem was solved but that was only before i put my laptop to sleep again and it was gone later.  I also tried removing the drivers installed for it from programs and features but it didn't allow me to uninstall them and popped an error saying it cannot be removed .\update 65. There's no option of uninstalling the driver from device manager as i mentioned it doesn't even show up in the list.So i tried resetting the laptop and same thing which happened for a system restore happened. After putting the laptop to sleep it didn't work any further. Plz help.

Hi there

My network adapter has disappeared overnight. The computer was on all along and when I got to it in the morning the network was Limited, I turned airplane mode on/off, no networks were showing. I disabled the adapter but it would not re-enable (code 10). I then tethered using my phone but the plugged connection literally replaced the wifi adapter in my network options.

I've rebooted twice, run 2 sfc scans in between (the window shuts straight away when it finishes therefore can't read any notification if any) but no dice. I went into device manager and ticked 'show hidden items' which revealed my adapter, I tried uninstalling it to then scan for hardware but the scans just come back as if nothing was missing.

Was gonna do a DISM repair next but with the adapter uninstalled altogether I'm a bit reluctant to dig my hole any further without guidance.

This issue seems common from what I read but usually one of the manipulations I've attempted solves the problem. Would anyone have a clue?

I'm using Windows 8.1 64bit, adapter is Realtek RTL8723BE.

Happy to provide more info if need be.

Thanks

Does anyone experience this situation? How could we resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Eddie

It's possible that driver is wrong/corrupted, did you try reinstalling it ?

@NIDIN_MATTANKOT

Thank you for joining HP Forums.}
I'll be glad to help you

As I understand the WiFi adapter is missing under device manager,

I don't know if it worked for the last user, however, could you attempt the steps mentioned on the same thread (if you haven't already) and tell me if the issue persists?

I would appreciate if you could reply with the steps you've done so far, the product number of your PC and if you receive any error messages while you install drivers from the HP website.

Awaiting your response,

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with your and I hope you have a good day ahead.

Hi all,

I just reinstalled Windows 7 on an older notebook (one of the first with it, so it was ORIGINALLY with Windows 7) and am now having issues with the WiFi. It has never had any issues with this before, so it is not an issue with the hardware.

I have followed the instructions given on a few sites and I have found that the WiFi card is listed under problem devices in the System Information window. The vendor # is 8086 and the device # is 422C. After finding that, I went on the hunt for the drivers/adapters for this, but I was unable to find them. I downloaded the wireless drivers available on Dell to no avail. Even after installing each and restarting it did not fix the issue. The only driver that seemed to match the lookup for that device was hosted on HP, but installing that also did nothing.

If it matters, I am currently on a Dell Studio 1558 Laptop. Any help would be appreciated, and I will give any information necessary. I have attached a picture of the System Info Problem Devices. If anyone knows what the others are or if they are important, I would appreciate that too, but I care much more about the WiFi.

A:Wifi adapter missing after Windows 7 reinstall

Device #422C is a Broadcom WiFi and Vendor #8086 is Intel.
So if Dell is of no use, start digging around Intel or Broadcom's sites for native drivers.

EDIT: Just realize this is from September. Whoops

Dear Experts,

I have few queries :
> i have been pacthing IE on win 2012 R2 servers from Oct 2017 and the latest deployed pacth is April 2018 roll out. but when i scan these server by Vulnerability scanners- it detects  june 2017 IE patch missing(which i know was never deplyed as
i started patching from Oct 2017 ) and i believe this June 2017 IE patch requires below registry key to be present , which they are not :
The following registry key is missing.
This registry key is required to enable the fix for CVE-2017-8529:
SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PRINT_INFO_DISCLOSURE_FIX\iexplore.exe
SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PRINT_INFO_DISCLOSURE_FIX\iexplore.exe
My Query is -
Does the installation of the superseding patch adds/updates the registry keys required for the patch it supersedes. In this case should  the successfull installation of April 2018 IE patch be adding these registry keys required for June 2017 IE patch.
if not  is there any documentation related to this ?

Bluetooth on my M3800 has gone missing after the Win10 anniversary update. Under device manager, bluetooth only shows up if "show hidden devices" is selected. I have tried updating/re-installing the drivers, but it doesn't solve the problem. Any suggestions?

Heyy..

I have an issue regarding an adapter of Microsoft WiFi miniport adapter.

Previously on my windows 7 Microsoft WiFi miniport adapter was installed when i started a hostednetwork(or a hotspot) through cmd.

But as i upgraded to windows 10(Presently I have windows 10 Pro..Edition 1511..Os Build 10586.420 installed in my pc) When Type following commands(without quotes) in cmd(as an admin)

"netsh wlan show drivers"

It shows

"Hostednetwork Supported: Yes"

That means I can Create a hotspot.

But When I check in my network connections window(in Control Panel) it shows a driver named as "Local Area Connection2".

Although hotspot is created, it never shares internet of my WiFi network(As I have network Connection by means of WiFi using Tp-Link USB Wireless adapter) I am unable to share my internet connection thorugh WiFi.

But As I said before, in windows 7 it shared internet connection through WiFi.

Also When i had checked before in network connections it showed a Microsoft Virtual Wireless Network connection and driver installed is Microsoft WiFi miniport adapter.

So I have a Question as "Does Microsoft WiFi miniport adapter is available for windows 10?"
And If yes there send me a link for downloading it.
And if not try helping me to fix it out.
Waiting for a Reply.
