I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone, I am running into a little issue with my Lync 2013. I must be missing some information but I can't log into lync no matter what I try. I bought the 2013 office home use program for 11 dollars so it came with lync 2013. How do I use this little thing? Looks so neat yet I can't log in T.T
I'm using Win8 x64 btw.
Error is: Cannot sign in because the server is temporarily unavailableThanks all!

A:How do I use lync 2013?

Put in your corporate email address, user ID and password and it should connect. Of course you need to be running Lync Server 2010 or 2013 at your corporate office for it to work.

Is there a way to connect Lync 2013 (Windows Store App) to my companies Office Communicator server?

It doesn't appear to be configurable by the end user... So maybe it's trying to go through Office 365, which we do not use. Or is it failing to auto discover?

Or, because they're no where near supporting this device, do I just wait?...

Lync Windows Store app may not be able to access the Lync server or services through network adapters, such as 4G LTE USB modems, that don’t register with Windows 8 as physical devices. Hi, I have a Windows 8 Enterprise (VL) laptop with 64-bit Office 2013 installed on it.  A couple of days ago I updated my laptop with Windows 8.1.

That seems to have upset Lync.  It has slowed dow so much as to be unusable.  For instance, if I open a conversation with someone and type something into the input area, my characters appear there with a 5 to 10 second delay per character.  For
instance if I type 'hello there', it will take between one and 2 minutes before all the text is in and visible (and that is not because I am a slow typist :)).

Connecting to a video conference just locks the whole thing up.  Which is a problem since I have just signed up to a training course which is delivered via Lync.

Only a handful of other people in my office have upgraded, but none of them have the same problem.  Has anyone else come across this?  Or have any suggestions?  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office but it made no difference.  I have
also checked that my machine is up-to-date with Microsoft Update (both via WSUS and direct with MS).

A:Lync 2013 with Windows 8.1 unusably slow

Hi Kelvin, thanks for the response.
Before I saw your comments, I had made some progress towards identifying the cause.  It seems to be related to my sound drivers.  If I uninstall my Dell drivers
(an IDT driver, dated March 2011), then Lync works perfectly.<o:p></o:p>
The problem I then have though, is that my system no longer recognises my headphones.  If I go into the Sound settings, it does not seem to
recognise that my laptop has a single combined audio+mic jack plug ? it thinks I should have separate ones.
Unfortunately, there are no more advanced drivers available on the Dell web site.
So I have Lync working again, but at the cost of being able to use my headset.
I will follow your advice and give the Lync 2010 option a try.

Andrew vR

I actually stumbled upon the exact same scenario yesterday. Clean installed 8.1 and Office 2013 on a Latitude E4310, and Lync is extremely slow/crashing. Also, the audio device stopped working. Reinstalled the audio drivers, rebooted a hundred times, repaired
the office installation, but still no go. Then I removed the audio drivers yet again, and immediately rebooted, and then it suddenly started to work again - with Microsoft vanilla audio drivers.

I have also seen on another E4310 which has been upgraded from 8 to 8.1, that Lync got very, very sluggish. A repair of the Office installation solved the problem there - without touching any audio settings/drivers, so I'm not entirely su... Read more

We got the problem that when the Add-Ons Lync Browser Helper and Lync Click to Call is active the start page of Office 365 portal.office.com loads very slowly and the CPU goes up to constant 30%, also the page is the very slow over the hole time you use
it. If you jump to a other site outlook/SharePoint/Yammer etc. then every thing works fine and fast. If we deactivate this Add-Ons the access to this portal.office.com page is fast. Not all of the user are affected even on the same machine.
Workarounds are, disable the Add-Ons or use the inPrivate Mode or use the compatibility mode.

Any idea why the Problem occours for some users?

Hi there
PLEASE TO ANY DEVELOPERS OF SOFTWARE : Don't dumb the stuff down so much that it's impossible to repair it if it goes wrong.

Outlook 2013 won't set up an email account if the TEST SEND EMAIL fails.

This is a really stupid error on the part of the developers -- if you are in some places often your ISP won't let you logon to your email server to SEND email from programs like OUTLOOK (SPAM protection amongst other things) but insist that you use their webmail unless you are actually LOGGED ON to the ISP.

ISP's have no problem with you READING Email while on say a public / other Wi-Fi system but often restrict the SENDING of emails through their servers from such Wi-Fi accesses - you often have to be logged on to your own ISP.

So if you are trying to set up the account while you are staying in a Hotel and using their broadband service it fails -- all I want is to be able to READ email until I can logon at home.

I can SEND via webmail or mobile phone so the stupid install process shouldn't stop me CREATING an account even if for the moment I can't use it for SENDING.

GRRH! -- Don't the developers EVER speak to the END USERS any more before designing some install rubbish system like this.

Showstopper for me this one

Rolled back to Office 2010 -- Outlook 2010 works fine - you can SKIP the test email send --this is what they should allow on Outlook 2013 as well. !!!!!

Hi there
Has anybody managed to get round the problem of bypassing the TEST SEND / RECEIVE e when setting up new EMAIL accounts on OUTLOOK 2013.

If you are AWAY from your home ISP you can't always SEND --a lot of ISP's block SEND mail unless you are actually logged on to their service or use their webmail facility.

With OUTLOOK 2010 you can disable the TEST SEND / RECEIVE email so you can still SET UP the account.

OUTLOOK 2013 fails because the TEST SEND fails and you can't skip the test.

screenshot of outlook 2010 enc

in 2013 this option doesn't exist -- so I've been unable to set up my Home email account until I get home.

Seems to me a STUPID new feature -- often one wants to set up stuff when away from home -- and test it later.

A:OUTLOOK 2013 -- cannot configure IMAP / POP3 wen away from home ISP

Jimbo, most SMTP servers won't allow you to use port 25 unless they are your ISP. I use port 587 or 2525
to setup my outlook so that I can send and receive while away.

Hi everyone!

I have a Dell Precision T5400 running Win XP x64 Pro, the OS came pre-installed and it's working pretty fine so far, but there are a couple of issues which are bugging me, so there will be more threads about my pc

The first one is concerning Automatic Updates. When I go to Control Panel->Automatic Updates, all options there are greyed out. The selected choice (greyed out too) is "download updates and let me choose to install them", but windows hasn't updated anything since about three weeks when I started using it.

I read in this website some instructions to get it to work

I am a local administrator in the pc and did almost everything listed there. Why almost? Because in my registry this location is not present

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ WindowsUpdate

the only location in Policies is "Explorer"

also in the group policy editor, this location doesn't exist either:

=> User Configuration
==> Administrative Templates
===> Windows Components
====> Windows Update

Inside "Windows Components", there's only "Search" and "Windows Media Player"

The rest of the instructions were followed but automatic updates are still not configurable :S

Please help. Thanks!

Hi, i was wondering if there is a way to have the automatic updates to prompt only one user account for download and install.

I have the updates set for download only, and im looking for a way to make it so only I can install them and avoid all other users including those that have admin right from installing.

Some computers need the employee to be an admin, but i dont want them to see or be able to install updates. I just want my admin account to be able to do so.

I found the non-administrator notification setting and the shutdown notification option in gpedit.misc which will work for those workstations with no other admin. But was hoping i could configure my options a bit more and be selective by user.

Any ideas, thanks for reading

I have 6 computers in a workgroup that need to be synchronized to a workgroup server.  The server is a virtual Win 7 running on a Windows 10 host.  Neither the server or client computers have internet access.  I started the process by configuring
the host to use its CMOS clock as its time source, which seems to have worked. The client computers are not virtual and can communicate with the Win 10 host as I am able to RDP to the host from the clients.  I made the following registry key changes to

I just downloaded and installed Office Home & Student 2013 several hours ago. A few minutes ago "Click-to-Run" ate up all my (very limited) bandwidth for 10-15 minutes. Because of my limited bandwidth I want no product automatically updating - I need to schedule such things. How do I make sure the office products do not automatically download anything?

A:How do I disable automatic updates in Office 2013?

Open one of the Office programs, such as Excel, when it opens select "File" up on the LH top of the screen, the look down the list & you will see "Accounts" select that & it will show a couple of dialogue boxes one of which is Updates. You can then disable Updates with this.
I certainly would not recommend disabling it for security reasons & keeping your Office right up to date.
I use Office 2013 Pro & I find that most automatic updates seem to occur about the middle of the month, if that is any help.
Also automatic Office updates run in the background so unless you happen to be watching your download meter, you will not be aware they have been done.

Hello Everyone!

This is my first post here. I am using Excel 2013 OS win 7. I need your help in developing a mechanism to send an automated outlook mail, when the due date of a project is nearing 3 hours, 2 hours & 1 hour away from the current date & time. The script should preferably run automatically every time the PC is running when the excel file is open.

In the attached excel file, An email should go of to -email address (Col. F), with subject "number (Col. B) is due on Due date and time (Col. E)", and body "Dear Name(Col. F), please finish your project asap".

Also, the script should put a check mark on Reminder sent column (Col. G) after the mail is sent, the script should also check if the value of the cell is blank before sending email.

I have scoured the forum for similar problems, and although I found a number of of threads,I am not proficient enough in VBA to modify them to my needs.

I'd really appreciate any help,

I take in customer's pc's, hook them up to my router and LAN. But I always have to manually go into windows and set the network settings, such as the name of my workgroup, give the computer a static ip address, put in the dns servers, and then manually map some network drives.

I was wondeirng if there is a little disc either floppy or cd, that you can pop into the computer and this disc will run and automatically set up all the proper network settings that you configure. So I could run this disc in windows for instance, the computer will then be on my network, in my workgroup, have some drive mappings, and have a static ip address with internet access.

Is there anything like this available?

Booyah to all you outlook brainiacs!

I use OUTLOOK for many email accounts, mostly POP but also Office365 and also to hook up with my corporate clients using exchange. (No - I'm not a great bit-twiddler anymore, I just work on business stuff.)

I run a Windows 7 notebook that I carry around.

Anyway, my auto-archive settings seem to be missing. I'm sure they used to be here somewhere. I would have thought they would be on File > Options > Advanced > somewhere here, but no (see attached).

I don't see any admin templates installed in GPEDIT.msc (not that I would install ANY policies on my personal laptop anyway.)

Can you help me run down the problem and get archiving working? THANKS!

A:How can i configure missing auto archive settings?

This might be one possible solution.

Have a look at this registry key in REGEDIT (Start, Run, Regedit)

In the right pane look for a keyword called DisablePst

If you have this key you can delete it, or set its value to 0 (zero)..

Then log out or reboot.

The version 14.0 corresponds to office 2010. Older versions have lower version numbers, but the keyword to look for is the same.

As always, it is best to backup your registry or create a manual restore point before making changes to the registry.

I am setting up a connection between my pc and my sister's using dailup connection. I configured my pc as the dialup server. But when my sister's pc(running on winXP) establishes connection, it always ask for the username and password which I do not know how to configure on the dialup server.

I have read an article on the internet about it saying that to configure a dialup server it must have the following network components:

*client for Microsoft Networks
*Dial-Up Adapter
*A network protocol that is common to both computers

I have enabled also the File and Printer Sharing. But still I was not able to establish connection.

Any idea? Please help me.

Hey guys,

I found a problem with my Wireless Zero Config starting up as Stopped even though it's set to Automatic. To fix, I have to go into Services.msc and start it, then open the connection's properties and check "Use Windows to Configure my Wireless Network Settings".

This is annoying.

In my research this morning, I've fixed the first issue by simply making a .bat file with "sc start wzcsvc" and putting a shortcut to it in the Startup folder. My hours of research have not turned up anything on making a similar fix for the connection properties changing back to Windows configuring. I have looked through the programs and found none that control connections, though I believe there had been some in the past such as RealTek. With those uninstalled, I either need some way to force it to stay on Use Windows or at LEAST a command to open the connection properties window, reducing the steps to get it checked back.

I would first recommend an SFC /scannow to verify all files are working correctly.

That's what this sounds like - bad files or possibly registry damage.

There is NO connection although Belkin Wireless Adaptor is blinking to catch signal.

Whenever there is no connection, I need to click Belkins Utility at System tray at the bottom in order to get connection, however it does not keep connected and lasts only 10-20 minutes.

Besides this, I found when I clicked, icon of Belkin > Properties > Network and found there is no 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.'

How to remedy this issue?

Thanks for your help in advance.

A:How to configure Email Database for windows server

All users have to have a username to log on to their computer in the first place, All computers also have to be linked to your server, and then what ever computer they are on, Microsoft Outlook configured to their name, Best if you ask your IT Guy/Girl to sort it. Go get your IT Person and watch and learn.

Below the basics for configuring Microsoft Outlook I am not putting anything further in here

When opening for first time (Microsoft Outlook) Click on &#8211;
∑ Mail
∑ Setup Email
∑ Add Email Account
∑ Next
Microsoft Exchange Server
∑ Next
∑ Untick first option
∑ Type in &#8211; (usually Svr (number). (server name.local) or combinations of this your IT person should know what it is
∑ Enter Name
∑ Click &#8211; Check Name
∑ Next
∑ Then Yes (for Different)
∑ Finish
∑ Close

Open Microsoft Outlook
(if not own email)
Select Name
Email Accounts
Dot &#8211; change
Change to mail box
Ok then close email

How do I use SSA to configure a hard drive on a ProLiant ML30 Gen9 server? I hooked up the harddrive to the 4x cable, plugged that into the appropriate slot on the harddrive, then used an ISO to install Fedora. Fedora installed on the HD just fine. But when I restarted the computer I still sawEmbedded Sorage : Dynamic Smart Array B1401 - SATA Optical Drive 1 - Configuration required.1785-Slot 0b Drive Array Not Configured. Action: Use the SSA to configure the attached drives. But I don't know how to go about doing that -- how do I access the SSA to configure the drive when I haven't yet even started the computer for the first time? The ISO was able to find and install to the HD just fine, why won't the boot sequence find it?

Hi Everyone,

I am attempting to configure a TP-Link TL-PS110P Print Server from a remote location.

From my location I am accessing a laptop which is connected to the same physical network as the Print Server. However the laptop has an I.P. address of, and it is connected directly into a router with the I.P. address of, whereas the Print Server has a default I.P. address of

Within the laptop I have set a static route to the Print Servers I.P. address, below is a screen capture of the laptops route table.

As can be seen above (in yellow highlight) there is now a route from the laptop to the Print Server. However I am unable to ping the Print Server, and entering the Print Server's address into a browser results in no configuration page being loaded.

All this being said when I use a Network detection program I can clearly see that the Print Server can be reached on the network, as shown below.

How can I go about loading the Print Servers configuration page through a web browser? I have tried, and Furthermore the same network has an identical TP-Link Print Server connected, and I can reach it's configuration page (due to it being on the I.P. address, and I can see that by default the Print Server does not require an explicit Port number to be specified.

I am quite stuck here, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

It seems like the persistent route would need to start with the IP of the printer which ends with .10... rather than .0 although I'm a bit confused on the requirements here.

So assuming you want a persistent route...,
route -p add mask metric 1
To remove or to delete the old entry, type this: “route -p delete" or which ever IP it starts with" assuming it's persistent.

Another trick to check and edit your persistent routes is through the system registry.
In your regeditor follow this path:
