I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am trying to perform the November update (1511) on this computer. (starting from the previous Windows 10 version)
Since I have another problem where it doesn't appear in Windows Update (despite fulfilling many requirements to make it appear), I am limited to perform the upgrade with the Media Creation Tool (which has re-implemented build 10586, 1511 into it after been pulled out)

However, the upgrade process failed when reaching 76%. After system restore and reboot, the following pop-up appeared:

Any ideas why this is happening? I upgraded this computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10 back in august, without any issue. Only now it did not find the November update through Windows Update and when using the Media Creation Tool it fails.

A:Windows 10 10586 (1511) upgrade fails / error 0x8007002C - 0x4000D

I had a similar problem with my system that was upgraded from W8.1 and I decided to do a clean install with the new 1511 ISO and it is a much better running system now.

I had tried from the early win10 early betas to upgrade from win 8.1 pro 64 bit. I continually got
the error: "The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation" and the code "Error 0x8007002C - 0x4000D". I had tried the fixes recommending by microsoft, including disabling/unistalling antivirus(Bitdefender), removing unneeded peripherals, scanning system files, to no avail. After months of trying various builds, including the final, no luck. I had tried upgrading via iso and windows update. Every time the installation hung at the same spot 86 percent. However, I was finally able to get build 1511 11082 to install. Now, however, my concern is the expiration date in July 2016. I have tried unsuccesfuly via windows update and iso files to upgrade to newer release preview versions, however the error message returns(installation hangs at 86 percent) and the system rolls back to my current version of win 10. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Homebuilt PC, fx6850 cpu, asus m5a99fx board. I am able to clean install with no problems.

A:Windows 10 error 0X8007002C - 0x4000D

Lew_jean It's not a good idea to be upgrading a Win7 notebook to Win10.  The main problem is that new PCs will nearly always come with new hardware, for which there are no Win10 drivers.  And, although HP does have Win7 drivers for your PC, those were written for the hardware that came with the original Win7 PCs that were built years ago.  So, there's no way of knowing if those drivers will work with a new Win7 PC. As to the error, this MS post has information about that:  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_install/how-to-troubleshoot-co... Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================================================================

I had a lot of issues with the screen blinking/flickering on/off when removing the laptop from the WD-15 dock and read that the new BIOS upgrade would fix this issue so I went ahead and upgraded the BIOS.
I installed "DellDockingStationFwUp_1.0.0.8_20161220_WD15.exe" and "XPS_9550_1.2.21.exe".
I added Bitlocker protection the first thing I did when I got the laptop about a year ago and it has been working fine.
After this upgrade (with or without) the dock attached I get the Bitlocker code prompt at every start of the laptop.
I can't seem to roll back the FW upgrades as the installer tells me I have a newer version installed...

A:Windows 10 Bitlocker code required every time after BIOS upgrade on XPS 15 9560

After searching and checking I found that I no longer have any compatible TPM according to Windows.
(Win 10 Enterprise 64bit Build 14393)
Looking in the BIOS there is no setting for TPM anymore so then I found a way to rollback BIOS FW.
It was by shutting down, unplug the power plug and then keep CTRL+ESC pressed while plugging in the power plug. That brings up a prompt where I could do a rollback and after that tehre still is no TPM in BIOS. I run the same again but this time I chose to reset the BIOS settings, still no TPM!
I still have to give the Bitlocker key at every startup and to top it off the laptop no longer goes to sleep when the lid is closed, it shuts down even though the settings is to "sleep".
This of course means that every time I carry it around I have to add the Bitlocker key when picking it up.
Our corporate network requires Bitlocker so I can't use the laptop without bitlocker in the domain.
Any suggestions?

This is the second posting for this issue. I can't download and update my Windows updates. Each time I try I get the error code: 80072F78, which after I Googled the code apparently means that my computer's time and date are wrong. I checked and the time and zone are correct. However, whenever I try to sync the time with the Internet, e.g., "time.Windows.com" or any of the other available options, I get a message "An error occurred when Windows was synchronizing with .... The peer is unresolved." Is this problem not allowing me to update Windows? I also Googled this and discovered that "time.Windows.com" has been broken before. Any ideas on this? Thanks in advance.

I have recently tried to upgrade from IE8 to IE9 but when I tried to download IE9 (from microsoft site) it "worked" it would tell me it either has been installed succesfully or it'd tell me it didn't finish installing completely. When it did claim to have installed succesfully it asked me to restart now or later, once I restarted it & turned it back on I opened IE to see but it turned out to not have changed at all 1 bit from IE8 and doesnt have any of the things shown in any of the review videos or in the commercials for IE9 and I went to menu bar > help > about IE, it told me im still running IE8 and another option under help was "what's new in IE8". So it obviously didn't upgrade to IE9. I saved the download to my desktop and that didn't work. The other issue is a windows update, when I go to start > control panel > windows update > check for updates, it'll show me I have 1 update that it claims is an "important update". when I click install update it'll attempt it and say find restore point then it'll say installing 1 of 1 updates, it'll then bring up a red shield with a X in it and tell me that the update had "a code 2 error, windows encountered an unknown error".
I've troubleshooted it multiple times & can't figure it out, the update is named "windows internet explorer 9 for windows 7 for x64-based systems". Also when I go to start it always has a little orange'ish yellow shield with a "!"... Read more

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

You cannot upgrade from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version.

If you want the 64-bit version it has to be a clean install.

Hi, this is my first post so I apologize in advance for any naivete.

Right, so I've been using Windows 10 home without (much) issue for months now, and I decided to do the anniversary upgrade. All is well until it gets to ~75% at which point I blue screen with error

0xC1900101-0x4000D - The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation

This started me off on a long and frustrating journey over the last three days desperately trying everything I could find online to fix the issue, but I'm at the point of giving up, so I figured maybe some kind soul would aid me online.

Thing's I've tried thus far (that I can remember - it's been a lot):
Doing the anniversary upgrade from windows updateDoing the anniversary upgrade via the windows upgrade assistantDoing the anniversary upgrade via ISODoing the anniversary upgrade via ISO from bootable USBReinstalling (not fresh) Windows 10, which yields bsod

Ran chkdsk, which fixed a couple corrupt files, but didn't solve the problemRan sfc, which reported no errorsUpdating every driver I could (using DriverMax to identify out of date drivers, but not to install them)Ran driver verifier with all options but low resources simulation on all non-microsoft drivers, which causes a bsod before it gets to login

Evidently while trying to take advantage of the Windows 10 Upgrade, somehow some damage was done to a file(s) from my old  Windows 8.1 OS pertaining to a missing, or damaged, file....  \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe  ...  which
in turn rewflects an Error code:  0xc0000001...
At any rate, as a result, I am not able to boot up without an installation disc, nor perform the requested "Restart" to continue with the Windows 8.1 reinstallation because of this Error, and missing file(s), and am at my wits end...
Please does anyone have any idea what my best course of action might be at this point, as I have seeminglly tried everything that I could think of for the better part of two weeks now.
Last night a gal that lives a few doors down checked in on me, because she hadn't seen me for those two weeks and was just pretty concerned about whether I was allright or not, and she suggested that I take the laptop to an outside Technician, but
unfortunately, I am a disabled  U.S. Veteran, and I just don't have alot of money to work with.

Hi,

I have had my Qosmio x505 Q870 since 2010 and I have just started getting BSOD with random errors (Memory management, multiple IRP Complete Requests, and a few more). I used Memtest86+ with no problems, I updated my drivers that I could in Device Manager. I guess I am mostly wondering what the file is that is making these BSOD happen and how to continue to fix it. I do not have a way of reading my dump files and was hoping someone could help me out with that.

I did upgrade my memory from 2x2gb to 2x4gb because I was getting these BSOD with the old RAM too and thought new ram would fix it...

sptd.sys needs to be removed from your system very important download this and run it and click uninstall: http://www.duplexsecure.com/download...t-v179-x64.exe

After you do that lets see how stable the system is after that and if you have anymore issues please let us know, I'm gonna continue looking through your logs so check back to this post for any updates that I may leave.

The built in Windows backup is usually hideous and not 100% reliable if you need to restore.

Download something like FREE MACRIUM and use that instead - much safer and better.

This started because I had to pull the battery on my motherboard to reset the CMOS, which solved the initial problem I was having, but now Windows Update doesn't work, giving me the Code 80072F8F error, which Windows helpfully tells me is because "your computer's date and time might not be the same as the date and time for the online Windows Update service."

So, I manually updated the date/time and tried again.

No dice.

I then attempted to do a Internet Time Synch and got the extremely helpful error message, "An error occurred."

I tried all of the time servers automatically provided by Windows.

Same error.

I then looked up a list of time servers and manually input the one closest to my physical location.

Same error.

I then opened up a command prompt and tried manually stopping, unregistering, registering and starting the Time Service.

The error persists.

From searching, it seems like this a (fairly) common problem, but at this point, I seem to have exhausted the "solutions" that I've found so on the web.

How do I get the time synch and, more importantly, Windows Update, working again?

TIA,

Stuart

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me before I throw this desktop out the window   I have had issues with it for a while now, but I updated all of the drivers and that worked for a while, but then when I would try to play a video game the comp would crash. Now it reboots, works for a few min then crashes again and each time it throws a new code. It's thrown everything from wolf.sys to memory exceptions to clock watchdog timeout. I'm on Windows 10 the latest version (artists update or whatever it's called). AMD A10 processor.  I've ran several chkdsk's and the last one that ran was unable to make corrections. I tried updating the BIOS and the process failed. At this point I am guessing I have a hardware issue of some kind, but where do I start? Graphics Card? Could it be the mother board? I'm at a loss.  Thanks in advance!!

Hi All,
I'm new here and I think I messed up the post that I made. I had meant to say that all of a sudden I can't use windows installer service I get error code 8007641 or error code 641. I'm unsure why I'm not able to use windows installer anymore and I'm not able to get valuable updates from windows without it. Has anyone else ever had this problem and if so, were they able to come up with a solution? Thank you. This is my first day on the site and unsure how to get around on it, but it seems like it's an exciting site and I'm looking forward to using it.
Thanks,

Hi,

Have a legit copy of Win 7 that was installed on PC that I built. Then upgraded to Ultimate via Windows Anytime Upgrade. I have a box with the product key but no disk.
My hard drive crashed and PC went in for repairs. The guy installed a new version of Ultimate as a clean install.
After some months, I got message that Windows is not genuine.
I tried the activation option with my upgrade key but received a message that this product key can only be used for upgrades, not clean installations.
What are my options?

On an Asus laptop with Windows 8 preinstalled, I have secure boot on, AV off, but every time I try to install the update from the Windows Store I get as far as:
Getting the update ready
This App wasn't installed, - view details.
Something happened and the Windows 8.1 couldn't be installed. Please try again. Error code 0x800703f9

I've tried installing with nearly every non-windows process disabled, but that doesn't help. I've Googled the error number, but although I found instances of it (back to Vista), I couldn't find what the error was or anything helpful.

A:8.1 Upgrade fails, Error Code 0x800703f9

I've also experienced this issue. I know that on my system I managed to partially break the Windows bootloader and I've assumed that's the source of the problem, having tried a lot of other potential resolutions that haven't worked. I've tried repairing the bootloader without success so I think it's going to take a "refresh" or reinstall to solve. I don't have time to do that at the moment though so I can't confirm that that will work (I may not do it in the near term anyway because I don't trust it not to nuke the dual booting Linux partition on the same disk... which is how I managed to damage my bootloader in the first place :P)

I'm seeing this a few times now on PC that are set to upgrade , including one of my own
ASUS Windows 7 PC

The fix, appears to be to do the following - MS appears to be recommending the link on twitter

1. Go into "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete everything in that folder.
2. Now, run the command prompt as an administrator. Type in "wuauclt.exe /updatenow".
3. Go to your Control Panel > Windows Update and your Windows 10 should start re-downloading from scratch, hopefully without flaws this time.

I have been trying to update my computer to service pack 2 but it keeps failing. I get the error code in the subject, file not found.  I even tried a clean boot and shut off my anti virus and firewall. I tried cleaning up the windows update history as well. I tried the system update readiness tool as well but that just hung.  I had the computer previously cleaned in this forum, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/476212/possible-spyware/.  I am not sure if some files were corrupted after the cleaning. I am running the 64 bit version on a HP Pavilion laptop.  I hope someone can help because I would like to have the latest version.  Thanks.

Well...that "cleaning" took place in Dec 2012...so I would not count on that as any indication about the current status of malware possibilities.

Have you tried MS Fixit ?

I have a Dell Studio XPS1495 that I bought from Best Buy about 3 years ago. A few weeks ago, I upgraded my Memory and hard drive setup to a SSD primary and a second data drive. Since the new primary drive was smaller than the original, no mirroring programs would work, nor would the Windows Recovery or Dell Recovery since they require the new drive to be the same size or bigger.

Also, There is NO windows COA sticker - it was either not there, or it came off. (Odd though, cuz the other Dell stickers are there and in good condition too) but it's a valid system that was all good. So, I got the product key from my original install using produkey, thinking that was 'the one'. So, I put in a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium, using the key that I got, and a downloaded ISO from microsoft (I forgot where, but they seem pretty easy to get) All good, but after a few weeks, I then got the activation errors, Error Code 0xc004f063 while trying to activate.

Through these forums, I learned that the Retail Key on the original install is a generic one or something and that the key that Produkey is also a generic one.

I've seen a few threads of some possible solutions, but one thing -I still have the Original Drive with the Original Install on it. I can easily pop that drive in and access the original, good install. Produkey won't work, obviously, but is there any other options - as seen here: Product Key Number for Windows 7 - Find and See I don't want to keep swapping... Read more

A:Error Code 0xc004f063 on Dell Retail system after HD Upgrade

Okay, I feel silly. Probably one of the next links I clicked after posting this thread took me to a page that noted "Possibly under the battery compartment." and sure enough, there was the COA sticker. I've owned nothign but dells in the last 12-15 years and don't ever recall the sticker 'hidden' in there. Oh well, it worked.

I have about 15 laptops running Windows 7 Pro SP1 (brand new, just out of the box).  I've been able to install quite a few updates on about 3 of them (just started working on them).  However, now, I'm getting error code 80200011 when I attempt
to install additional "required" updates.
I've tried clearing the BITS queue, deleting softwaredistribution folder and ran SFC and nothing came up as being an issue.  I've searched the net on this issue, but there doesn't appear to be much on this specific problem.  These systems
are behind a proxy server.  I have other (XP, Windows 2003) systems that are able to update, but is there an issue between WIn 7 and some proxy servers?  If so, why would I be able to install some updates?
Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks all.

A:Windows 7 Pro - Windows Updates Error Code: Code 80200011

Hi,
Chek that your proxy is configured correctly, and if you can follow these steps to resolve this issue : stop the Windows Update service and make sure that the "Backround Intelligent Transfer Service" and "Cryptographic service" are started and then go to
C:\Windows and rename the software distribution folder to UpdateOLD , and finally restart the Windows Update Service

Hi my name is James

I am running a Dell dimension 2400 with 256mb ram, celeron processer 2.4 ghz and Intel extreme graphics, and 40 gb hdd and the rest.

I just brought a 256 mb PCI card made by powercolor, built with radeon 9200 technology. Not pci express just straight PCI

Followed the instructions, pluged card in, turned on computer,go into the device manager and i get a yellow
"!" mark with the code 12 error against my card.

Uninstalled onboard intel extreme graphics controller, its model thing is ...
Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller it has 64mb of video ddr ram
Um well as soon as i uninstalled it and rebooted, windows would automactically recongise it again and then yeah. it would become default.
So i disabled it and now its outta use. yay =)
I am currently running off the default windows vgasave graphics thing and i still have the error code 12 on my radeon.

I have installed catallyst, downloaded specific drivers from the powercolor site, installed those and i get either

TUL corporation, RADEON 9200 SERIES ver. 8.252.0.0 [5/3/2006]
or..

just the plain

RADEON 9200 SERIES ver. 8.252.0.0 [5/3/2006]

Well i am using the plain Radeon 9200 series driver ^
And have tried both with no luck.

I read somewhere that i should not use the microsoft drivers
so i steered clear.

Then i saw that I should try adjusting the agp apeture in the bios setup.
To have it under 64mb.
I dont even have a agp slot!! but it couldnt hurt.
