I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Good day One of my clients came to me with a laptop issue She hasa Lenovo G500S Touch laptop. It sometimes freezes at the Lenovo Bios Screen. She is running Windows 7 on it as she does not like Windows 8  Now it does not happen all the time but its frustrating to her as she is not tech minded and she just wants the thing to work.  Sometimes it starts up normally and sometimes it just hangs at the Lenovo screen. I have tried removing the battery (sometimes it works) , tried resesting the bios and disabling USB boot. I have also tried to remove the hard drive and check it in another PC and its fine. When it does start then its fine. it mostly happends when she moves the laptop around or puts it in a bag and takes it out again. There are no bios updates for the Lenovo G500S touch but only for the Lenovo G500S which does not work on the Laptop. Is there anything else we can try as she has spent so much money on this laptop trying to get it repaired as she does photo editing on it and I know the warranty has expired on the laptop and at that stage she did not take out extended warranty. Is the motherboard now defective ? Please advise as I have never seen this in my IT career and now I don't think I must recommend Lenovo PCs to my clients if they are going to give these issues. I have even cleaned the RAM Slots too Looking forward to help here. Regards Roger StaceRSCOMPUTER SERVICE AND RETAIL SOUTH AFRICA.

Without seeing the notebook myself I could only state that it sounds like a connection between main board and attached daughter boards in the case. Ribbon cable, connectors and such do come loose over time. The other things that could cause this would be damages from a drop or liquid spill... But without looking at it for such I could not be certain. CB

One of the things I loved about this laptop initially was that the sound was very strong. In the past couple of months, the sound has gotten increasingly weaker, such that now I must have it have to basically 100% to be able to hear things. Even with headphones today, I noticed that the sound was very weak unless I had it up to 100%. I checked all the drivers. I'm running Windows 10 and have been for some time. Any thoughts?

I have a Lenovo G500s Touch computer that I bought at Best Buy in March. I noticed not long after I got it that my camera wasn't working with Skype. Not wanting to put DAYS into trying to figure it out, I waited until about a month ago to research what the problem was. (It is still under warranty) So this is about my 5th day spending most of the day trying to figure it out... nothing is working.

I have 8.1 and it can't even FIND my camera. HELP, Please.

Check Device Manager, to see if the camera is even showing in there with the driver installed. If it does not, go to Lenovo's Support site and download the correct driver for your device for the onboard camera.

Good afternoon,  As a frustrated owner of this device, this laptop along with Microsoft has turned into a Mac user. This device from the onset has been a problem. from its cheap make, WIFI connectivity issues, faulty battery life, apps closures I can't see how Lenovo couldn't come up with some type of way of being able to help those that felt suckered into purchasing this device. The customer service a year after the purchase (purchased in 2013) was as poor as Staples. I need a Windows based machine for a project I will be doing, and swearing off Windows I wanted to see if there was any redeemable feature that could help me along this purchase. Removing this device from storage and not using in a year, neither battery (the one that came with the machine or the newer purchased battery holds a charge despite stating it's 100% full. Prior to the switch to Windows 8.1, I felt the device worked perfectly (which was released a week plus after I purchased it. Ever since Windows 8.1 and the even worse Windows 10 have destroyed my love for this machine.  Now as of current, I haven't been able find the battery management reset which was so easily found under Windows 8/8.1 so I decided to reset the device twice losing my access to Windows 10 and the second time no way of being able to recalibrate the battery.  I am now doing a total factory setting which will hopefully help me in something before I trash the machine.  Lenovo and Microsoft, a ... I have a Lenovo g500s touch laptop with Windows 8 that is not able to boot. The error message occurs very early in the startup process says ?Your PC needs to be repaired. The application or OS couldn?t be loaded because a required file is missing or contain errors.  File: \windows\system32\winload.efi. Error code 0xc000000f. You need to use recovery tools on your installation media. ?When trying to use OneKey recovery from the initial image, the recovery seems to start with the progress eye bouncing back & forth for about the 30 seconds.  Then the status = Intializing, the current file is blank, speed = 0 Bytes/Minute, Time elapsed continues to increase, Time remaining is blank and the status bar is blank with 0%.  I have let this run for many hours and it does not change. Booting via a USB recovery drive seems to indicate the hard drive is correctly working.  From a command window bootrec/fixmbr = successful; bootrec/fixboot = successful;  bootrec/scanOS says 0 windows installations found; bootrec/rebuildbcd also says 0 windows installations found.Any suggestions to fix this problem?

Recently purchased (January 2013) G500S Touch Model 20263.  Recently noted that the left side and one-half of the top of the screen has separated from the outer case where I can see inside the screen. This is quite troubling for a 3 month old laptop! The split was noted when opening the laptop.  The system has static, in a Home-Office with USB-cooling fan.  The system is shut-down nightly, used on an average of 2 hours per day.  I have inspected for indications of any traumatic events...with nothing noticeable.  It appears that some sort of clip is broken where there is a fine lip between the screen bezel and outer cover. It also appears to be a design/manufacturing flaw.  I am greatly disappointed.  I purchased an identical system for my wife, and there is no indication of any similar separation occurring. I would be most happy to find this is covered under the initial warranty.  But I expect a great deal of disappointment. Anyone with similar issues or ideas on repairs?  I have applied a strip of "painter's tape" over the gap in order to keep dust or other material from falling inside the screen.  Thank you for your responses. _C_

A:G500S Touch Screen/Case split

HI, I have experienced the same issue, but on the lower right side of the case, directly behind the screen. It appears as if this has a piece of 'double sided tape' placed in here to hold the unit in place - very strange on a relatively NEW laptop? I havent heard anything back from Lenovo yet, please let me know if you also hear anything. Whenever I lift the lid, there is a 'cracking' noise and the lower right hand-side of the top cover seems to be split from the casing.

The most ram you can use is 16gb 1600mhz. It's limited by the CPU, and also by the DIMM slots. Its impossible to find 32gb in 16x2 SODIMM. But 16gb (8x2) is plenty .P.S. Use 2 slots if possible, dual band is faster than single.

Hi, I want to upgrade my Windows to the latest update (October 2018). But upon reading the Lenovo support website, it seems that it's advisable to upgrade Intel Graphics Driver to version 24.20.100.6286 and newer which is available with Intel Audio Driver 10.25.0.10. I have tried updating my drivers through Lenovo Vantage, but that only installed the Nvidia VGA driver, not the Intel one. I also checked the available drivers on Lenovo support page but the Intel Graphics Driver version I need is not listed. Am I missing anything? Is there a timeline on when that driver is going to come out? Thanks.

A:Lenovo G500s FN key request

hi avernis,

Your problem migh be similar to this thread.

If you don't have the keyboard remapping feature in the BIOS, using an app called SharpKeys will allow you to switch function keys (i.e. Fn+F1 to a regular F1 key). I can't test this on the G500s as there's no available unit here in the lab but this tested and verified working on the Z400.

Give it a shot - Map Any Key to Any Key on Windows 7 / XP / Vista (works also in Windows 8)

I've had my Lenovo since December 17, 2012, and have faced some issues before. I recently had the battery and the adapter replaced. A couple of weeks back, the laptop suddenly stopped charging. Here are the details :- Adapter was connected, and current supply was checked using a tester.- Battery was connected properly.- The power and charge light started to blink. I looked for a solution online, and almost everywhere the following steps were asked to be followed :- Shut down the laptop.- Disconnect the charger.- Take the battery out.- Press the power button for 12 sec (some said 15, some said 20-30) to ensure any residual charge is taken out.- Reconnect the charger (not the battery), and see if the laptop gets switched on on power. I followed the steps to no result. Naturally, I went to a service center, where I was informed that the Integrated Circuit on the motherboard was faulty and they'd have to replace it. I said okay, and got it repaired. This was a week ago. Now all of a sudden, the laptop is showing the similar traits. Charger is connected, but it won't charge. Again, the battery and the adapter are new and fully functional. Sometimes, when the adapter is connected, the two lights will blink and sometimes they won't, but the battery won't charge and now my laptop sits dead. What are my options?

Hi, I recently brought a G480 with the B830 cpu and HDD 320GB. I have idea for doing It up to a nicer spec. First I replace the HDD with SSD 512 GB and removed the DVD Drive with HDD 2TB. And I would installed 16gb 1600mhz DDR3 ram. The first upgrade have made a massive improvement. And I think if I upgrade the RAM, it will make massive improvement. Now I want to upgrade the CPU/GPU. Now I know I can't add a dedicated GPU but I want to upgrade to a CPU with HD4000 built in. The laptop is well in spec to take up 35W TDP and dualcore CPU's along with running a HM70 chipset makes for a lot of options. Am I right in thinking to upgrade the proccessor? to i5 or something newer? Will it work? or am I limited by bios? Thankyou so much.

Hello Everyone,

Odd thing i've experienced yesterday, upgraded lenovo t410 laptop to intel ssd drive 180 GB and decided to instal win7 pro with integrated sp1.
In the post installation stage, while setting username and computer name computer crashed with BSOD.
It happen 4-5 times. Even booting in the safe mode i experienced 2 times complete freeze where i had to manually power off laptop.
I continued installing drivers on notebook and seams that issue is no longer present.
I have different problem now, windows shuts down unexpectedly without any bsod dumps. happen also several times in past 24h.
In attach you will see in system logs only single entry as i cleared event logs to find last occurrence easily.

Note that with Hitachi disk that was in laptop before I never experienced bsod, true is that i got laptop with installed win7proSP1 on it with all drivers installed.
I used lenovo system update tool to get all drivers to the system.

I am suspecting that new hardware (intel ssd 520 series) might be cause of this or the drivers either on sata controller or on disk.
according to ssd toolbox firmware on disk is latest.

Run Disk Full test with Intel ssd toolbox and finished successfully.

I have been using Lenovo g500s from last 3 years. From last 8-9 months I am using windows 10 64 bit on it. But from last few days it crashes randomly. Laptop doesn't give any warning message and suddenly shuts down. Now it's not turning on with power button. But when I start it from boot menu it starts but gets shutdown any time. Please help to find out the actual problem. Will it be caused by hardware or software problem. What should I do.

Hello This problem that I have is not a recently problem. It occured I think One and a half years ago for the first time. The laptop is never crashed in the three years that I have him and I'm running now Windows 8.1. Not switched yet to 10. Now the problem is getting more and more worse. So when I press the powerbutton nothing happens. It doesn't matter, I figured out, that the battery is plugged in or not or that the laptop is connected with the charger. Every time now that I want to start my laptop I need to press multiple times but not with a specific rhythm. Sometimes he will start when I press for a longer period (around 5 sec), sometimes not. So he is very inconsistance. Luckily I still manage to get him working every morning but i'm afraid that it will not lost for a long period.  Is it possible that I have a hardware problem and not a software problem?Could it be that my power button makes false contact or that it is just some dirt that got into it?Is there a way to start my laptop without using the power button? Please I need to get rid of this problem because I'm now on a exchange program in Finland for my thesis and I can't afford my laptop to not work anymore! I hope someone knows a solution but I searched on the internet with a similar problem but I didn't find anything. Kind regards David Bongartz

A:Lenovo G500s laptop will turn on only after a lot ...

Hi DavidBongartz ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As how you describe , seems issue would be more as a mechanical on the power button.
You can also turn on the PC using the novo button ( small key next to the power item 5 page4).
This would offer normal start up to boot on Windows.

Would there be a squishy or unnatural feel with the button ?
Aside from the power button , beneath it is a power board that is shared by the lenovo button.
So if both buttons would fail, it may be the power board that is involved (item 3 page 80).

Thinking of another option , specially if you are working on an important document, to keep the battery always charge is to set the power option to just sleep instead of turning it off.

Reminder : always back up your file on a separate location other than this pc like a cloud storage or an external storage for safe keep just in case.

Update us how it works for you.

Regards

Hi all, I recently bought Lenovo G500s laptop. Initially it came with DOS. So, i took up partioning the HDD for installing Windows 7. So i changed the boot order to USB drive. Partioned my HDD and went on to install Win 7 through USB Disk. But now it says "Missing Operating System" and i cannot access the system BIOS using the Function keys. I guess, i had also messed up UEFI/Legacy settings in BIOS earlier. But now i cannot access the BIOS at all. Can anyone provide me solution to undo the same or reset the corrupt BIOS. Probably by uploading the G500s BIOS file, so that i can flash it in my laptop. Thanks for the help in advance.

A:Cannot Access Lenovo G500s BIOS.. please help

hi starfire1801,

Welcome to the Forums.

During boot-up, if pressing Fn+F2 does allow you to access the BIOS, can you try to:
1. Remove the AC adapter and battery then press the power button for 20secs.
2. Reconnect the AC adapter and press the OneKey Recovery button. If a menu appears, choose BIOS Setup.
3. If you get the same problem, download a free copy of Windows 8 Enterprise (90day trial) and install it on the system. When you get Windows 8 up and running, try accessing theBIOs via the UEFI Firmware Settings.

Hope this helps

i have a windows 8.1 64bit on my G500s (non-touch model) laptopi was installing windows updates (and this is the only action related to OS - drivers i made)accidentally i found no Optical drive in my computer under windowsiam sure the laptop wasn't subjected to trauma, falls or else.i thought it might be a conflict in my OS , so i installed a new fresh windows installi was astonishingly surprised that the CD drive in not listed in the BIOS (setup)i tried to install the BIOS update from the lenovo site but unfortunately it refuses to run as i have the same version (most updated bios version)i tried my DVD drive in another computer and it worked fine, so it is not a drive problemstill the tray opens and closes and its led light run, so it is not power problem, however not identified neither by the BIOS nor by windows  help is highly appreciatedthanks in advance

A:Lenovo G500s no more detects the CD/DVD drive

Hi Ahmadsamir11,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with DVD in your Lenovo G500s laptop.

As you have mentioned that this DVD is working in another system, try to swap check the DVD of other system in this system and check for the issue.

Also try to change the BIOS into default setting and check for the issue.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.

Best regards,
