Wont Install English United Kingdom

Q: Wont Install English United Kingdom

Ok for some strange reason my windows wont install English United Kingdom as my regional locale

it will change keyboard and everything else just not that.

so when i install programs that do multi language it does arabic instead.
It is driving me nuts because the message i keep getting is "Setup was unable to install the chosen locale. Please contact your systems Administrator"

i am the admin

i am thinking i may need to edit the registry but i am not experienced enough to be doing it.

anyone have any possible solutions for me please ?

Here is my HJT Log (first time i used it)

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Since upgrading to Windows 8.1 my keyboard is no longer set to English (United Kingdom) - so I keep getting US keyboard settings for various characters like @ when typing ! In Windows 8 I could change the settings easily in Control Panel >Clock, Language, Region. But now when I go to Control Panel> Language it seems that English (United Kingdom) is only available as a download. I tried to download and install the update but although it downloaded OK it was taking so long to install that I cancelled the operation in desperation !

A:English (United Kingdom) language

since upgrading to Windows 8.1 I've had a number of problems, some I've been able to sort.

But I am having trouble getting the English(United Kingdom) version keyboard. In the Language section of the Control Panel it is shown as my preferred setting, but if I roll mouse over it then says it's 'available' to download. Tried that, downloaded OK but wouldn't install ('hung' for over 30 minutes doing nothing before I gave up and cancelled !). Didn't have this problem with Windows 8 (or any previous versions of Windows either). As far as I am aware all previous versions have had both US and UK versions installed requiring only the user to make a simple switch with just a couple of clicks !

Did you add the En-US language pack to this image? Please use the command below to add the language pack to image first.

Why I hate Internet Explorer
Had some trouble with the annoying Babylon search I finally managed to get rid of it but was left with Bing as the default search engine I prefer Google so I went to add it but it was absent from the UK search providers the only real competition for Bing that
Microsoft allows is the Ask & Yahoo search engines plenty of rubbish options like confused.com or BBC music search but no Google !
I did find a Google accelerator in the add-ons but you cannot set it as the default search engine.
I had to revisit the search engine page & change the gb in the Address bar to us & get the Google search provider from the US site.

A:IE9 pathetic choice of search providers in the United Kingdom

Have you tried clicking on Tools/Manage Add-ons/Search Providers, then highlight Google and choose in the lower part of the window "Set as default".

Hi, fellow Windows 7 Users. I have two Keyboard Layouts on my system. EN English (United Kingdom) and JP Japanese (Japan). For no reason, United States pops up there and I cannot remove it in the Keyboard Layouts. This system was bought in the UK and has a UK Keyboard Layout, this has nothing to do with the United States Keyboard Layout. Why does this keep popping up? And how can I stop this? Thanks in advance!

A:EN English (United States) Keeps Installing Itself!

Hi, I started having the same problem on my computer recently, for no reason. I also have JP Japanese (Japan) installed (along with French, which is also the language of my OS) however I've had it installed for more than a year.

Did you eventually find a solution to your problem or does someone have ideas now given that we both have Japanese installed?
Thanks

PS: you can remove it by installing EN Enlgish (United States) and deleting it, but it will come back anyway next time you restart your computer or use the alt+shift shortcut.

A friend of mine left to me his netbook, a Toshiba NB-500 with 1 GB of memory and an 64bit atom CPU. The system is upgraded to windows 10 (32bit) from the original windows 7 starter (I think it was 32bit too) on a netbook.

The netbook is too slow, so I firstly checked for viruses and malwares, then I disabled all startup applications and not-MS services. I also changed to a lighter antivirus like MSE... but the system is still too slow. So I concluded that the slowness is caused by the poor hardware resources.

My friend reported a reasonable usability when he had just bought the netbook about three years ago, so I suggested a fresh install of windows 7 after a backup of all his data. The netbook has a recovery partition, but I prefer a fresh install, without Toshiba utilities.

Now, I have a windows 7 64bit DVD. I've customized it to allow release chose (starter, home premium, professional and so on). This Atom CPU is actually based on 64bit arch, but I suspect that the product key on the bottom sticky is referred to a 32 bit version of windows 7 starter.
So, question 1: If the pre-installed system was 32bit, can I do a fresh install using a 64 bit windows version and activate it with the original product key?

The original system language is Italian and I wanted to install an Italian localized system, cause my friend prefer it, but I can't find ISO-s in a language other than English...
So question 2: Is there a way to "add" some localization files (I do... Read more

A:Install Win 7 italian by using an english ISO

The product key (license) is good for 32-Bit or 64-Bit, it is only good for the version (Starter) on the COA sticker.

Try using the Heidoc ISO Downloader available here:
https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/techno...-download-tool

They offer a Starter ISO where you can choose the language.
I can't read Italian, so i can't be sure if they have what you need.
The ISO's are downloaded from MS servers.

At work, I was given a laptop to fix which has a German OS. It was infected with virus's and so I promply ran virus scans and general cleanup on the HDD. The system is currently performing well, besides that fact that it does not launch any programs. I assume that running a repair install of XP will most likely fix the issue without much more work on my part. However, I do not currently own a German copy of Windows XP, only English.

Thus, this brings me to the question:

Can I run a repair install of XP on a German OS with English XP CD without converting the original OS language to English or do I need to have a German copy of XP to run the repair?

Theoretically, I could just clone his HDD and attempt the repair on the cloned HDD and see what happens, but then that's just a buch of extra work. If someone already knew the answer, that would be great.

Thanks

Seems to me,even if it changed the default language, you
could go into control panel/region and language settings
and set it back to german.

I have just taken delivery of a new Dell laptop with Win XP Professional and all installed software in English. I actually live in France although I would be surprised if that has anything to do with my problem which is when I try to install my old copy of Microsoft Front Page 98, which was always in English on my last machine, it only installs in French and does not offer me any other language options.

I want everything on the computer to be in English. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can stop it doing this?

Good morning,

I couldnt find the question to this answer, so hoping you guys can help me out where google failed.

I work in Germany, but my colleagues are all over the EMEA region. Most have windows 7 Pro, but finally started to migrate them to Enterprise (Volume Licensing yay), but when I image their machines here in Germany and install some custom software for them, it happens that from time to time, the application detects that I am in Germany and doesnt offer to install it in English, instead it just bangs on German.

Is there a way/registry setting, that forces applications to install in English?

Cheers!!!

1. click the "windows key" and type in regedit
2. run regedit as administrator to ensure the proper actions are taken.
3. follow this HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Essentials
(edit: or microsoft security client)
4. There will be three files in this area.
5. Right-Click on (Default) and select Modify
6. Under Value data:, type in EN
7. Do #'s 5 & 6 again for Market

Hello everyone, my first post here, i hope you can help.

My girlfriend has a new-ish laptop that came with Windows 7 Home Premium, and recently it had some issues. The issues have got worse and it turned out to be a stuffed drive, out of warranty, its basically stuffed.

I got a new HD and installed it, but when i went digging for the Windows disc that came with it i couldn't find it. Some googling tells me that this laptop does not come with any install discs (seriously, wtf?!) only some manuals and other paper work. There was however a recovery drive which i assume was a partition for re-installing windows and the rest of the included bloat ware.

Without a Windows 7 disc we could not install it on the new drive, so i downloaded an ISO on my machine and created a DVD, but the idiot i am, i downloaded it in the wrong language. I didn't notice the NL at the end of the file, which im assuming is Netherlands? Please excuse my language ignorance if im wrong.

I know downloading software is wrong, i dont need a lecture. I'm just not going to pay for another copy of Windows 7 because the scumbag laptop manufacturer wont even include a bloody install disc!

I have the product key of course, luckily the sticker on the bottom of the laptop was still visible.

Sure i could download another ISO, but being bad once is enough for me and our net is pretty slow, it took 4 days to DL this copy!

Hope someone can help!

A:Windows Installation Not in English, Can I Force It To Run In English?

I would download or borrow an English language Windows Seven DVD. Install it with no product key. You have 30 days to evaluate. Also you can extend that period several times. It's not illegal. See this tutorial:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-120-days.html

By that time you should be able to determine you have everything working and can then find out what you need to do for activation to keep it permanently.
