Q: where can i find my product key code for my hp pavilion note...

where can i find my product key code for my hp pavilion notebook? I bought this nice laptop but did not know that i would need a key code to access certain software.

Preferred Solution: where can i find my product key code for my hp pavilion note...

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: where can i find my product key code for my hp pavilion note...

@Autralla Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! The "key code" that comes with modern PCs is the Windows Product key and that is (1) embedded in the UEFI firmware of the motherboard (and is not printed on anything), (2) is only used to Activate Windows, and (3) is not needed for anything else. So, you need to describe, in some detail, what you are trying to run that is asking for a "key code". Also, we need to know which OS version is running: Win7, Win8, Win10.We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

I am looking at options to replace a battery in an HP Pavilion dm-1xxx series laptop, specically dm4-1050ea and dm4-1164nr and dm4-1150ea, but  I am confused over battery compatibility. The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02615687.pdf) gives  9-cell, 93-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593550-001  6-cell, 55-WH (2.55-Ah) Li-ion :  553594-001  6-cell, 62-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593562-001 so any of these 3 are interchangeable between the -1050ea and the -1150ea ? no, it seems not - read on.... but I see that in the manual for the dm4-1164nr (also the M&S Guide for dm4-1140sa and dm4-1150ea, I now learn), also titled The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03106715),  that while the lower rated batteries have the same p/n, the higher rated on is described as9-cell, 100-WH (3.0-Ah) Li-ion : 636631-001 Are these two 9-cell batteries interchangeable, ot not ?  They must have physically the same form because they both accept the same lower rated batteries and also have the same elec. spec - 10.8V ? If they  not compatible, can I be instructed as to why not ? I currently have Win 7 Pro retail 64 bit installed on my system. I ordered a second copy of Win 7 Pro retail to install as a second instance on my system, then later deactivate that second instance of Win 7 and then install it on a new computer if and when
I buy a new computer. Unfortunately, what I received shows an OEM sticker inside what looks like a retail box.
If I change the current retail product key on my current installation of Win 7 Pro with the OEM product code, is the original retail code disabled or just deactivated? Will I be able to use the original retail product key on a future installation? I have
a few days to return the mislabeled Win 7 Pro OEM version, and then look to buy a Win 7 Pro retail version (a few of these left).
Note my current system is one I assembled myself from components I bought from various stores (motherboard, processor, video card, sound card, disk drives, case, fans, ... ).

My 8600 software was working fine on networked computers running XP and Vista.  A new laptop running Windows 8 Pro also initially ran the printer.  I decided to install the Windows 8 update to get all the HP software and this did not work. Near the end of installation two files were displayed in notepad which I assume needed to run and complete the installation.  They are "HPSolutionsPortal" and HPSPPortal". In surveying the database I see problems with another model printer which point to an association problem with filetype .hta which is used by these two files. My Windows 8 Pro system associates filetype .hta with notepad.  I attempted to change this to the "Microsoft (R) Application Host" but could not find it.  I do have several msta.exe files available but am wary to change it. Anyone familiar with this problem?

In another post, Mulderator says "as long as you have your original CD and product code" referring to re-installing XP. I have years of experience with 98 and ME, but all this online validation stuff is new to me and has me confused.

I bought several refurbished machines each with a new copy of XP pre-installed. Not much in the way of restore, rescue, or re-install disks though. So I bought a new Windows Home XP CD.

So now I have several machines, each with a shiny new "Certificate of Authenticity" sticker on the back, with what I would call the COA number on it. And I received another COA sticker with my new XP CD.

Is this COA number what is meant by "product code"?

More specifically, can I use the new XP CD to re-install XP on a misbehaving refurbished machine. Does the COA on the back of the machine identify the OS installed on the machine, and as such I should be able to use my new XP CD to re-install XP on the other machines (each has its own paid-for COA sticker)?

I have paid Microsoft many times for XP, I am not trying to bootleg anything here.

A:Product code?

From my experience, if the COA includes a valid XP product key (a 25-character string in five sets of five), you SHOULD be able to install XP from any CD and just use that key when prompted for it. The only limitation is that the key has to be for the same version of XP (home/pro/MCE) that you're installing; in other words, an XP Home key won't work if you're installing from an XP Pro CD.

The other thing you have to watch for is that MS will only let you Activate with a particular key a set number of times, after which you need to call MS and have them reset the activation for that key.

I purchased a used computer and was given what appears to be a genuine microsoft windows 7 disc. They did not give me the package it came in with the registration code. Windows loaded fine and works fine but says I have 15 days to registra. I am getting different answers from different people and the more people I ask (including the computer shop) the more confused I get. Most are saying that I will have to repurchase a new windows 7 with validation code. Some say I can contact Microsoft and at a smaller fee, get the validation code. One person told me that the validation code is located, deep inside the disc and told me how to retrive it. Bassically, turn computer on, go to my computer, insert windows 7 disc, go to explore, click on sources, and locate product. Which I did. And it does show not one but about 20 validation codes, several for windows home, some for windows home preminum, (which I have) and windows professional. Some say I can contact Microsoft and at a smaller fee, get the validation code. This is my recommendation. One person told me that the validation code is located, deep inside the disc and told me how to retrieve it. Basically, turn computer on, go to my computer, insert windows 7 disc, go to explore, click on sources, and locate product.I've never heard of this method, so I cannot comment on this.Someone else told me that there are no validation codes in the disc and that disc can be used on multiple computers but would have to purchase a registration code for each computer.Correct. You can use the same disc to install the OS, but you'd need a different product key for each machine.I clicked on some web site and they say for a fee they will locate my validation code deep in encryption on my C: drive (question, if it is not really on the disc, then how would they find it on my c: drive) I was reluctant to pay them any money.Sounds sketchy. Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
Several years ago I installed Microsoft Office XP.
At the time of installation I was asked to type in the Key Code which consisted of 25characters.
This "Key Code" was on the box the software came in.
I put the software CD in a jewel case.
Unfortunetely a few years ago I suffered a house fire that just about destroyed everything from water damage and the software box got water logged and ruined.
I now have no way of knowing what the "Key Code" for the software is so I can reinstall it on another computer.

My question is... was there any place this Key Code was stored in the hard drive during installation ??
I have been going out of my "trees" trying to figure it out.
If one of you "Pro's" can help it will be very much appreciated.
The full program is Microsoft Office XP.
Thank you for your time.

A:product code

A 25-character product key for a Windows 7 disc does not expire.
What expires is the number of days you can use Windows 7 without activating it.
If you bought those 2 discs on eBay for a very cheap price, they are likely non-genuine/pirated copies.

A:Need my Windows 8 Product # from my HP Pavilion EOJ97 Its no...

There is no visible Windows 8 Key Code....it is embedded in the BIOS chip of the computer so if you reinstall the exact same version it will activate itself automatically. But Windows 8 OEM is hard to find. The good news is if you ever had Windows 10 activated on it you need no license code to reactivate. Go to Microsoft's Media Creation Tool site, and follow the prompts to make a Windows 10 install disk (usb or DVD) of the same version as you had on it before (Home or Pro) and it will just activate the first time you connect to the internet. It's a little creepy, but Microsoft keeps a record of every computer on which Windows 10 was activated and it will recognize the computer and activate on reinstall. You can change any of the hardware except the motherboard and it still works. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hi, I've tried to do research before I posted this and know there is a lot of topics that talk about this.  Okay, so my laptop from about 2011 died and i had previously got the Product Key using Magic Jelly Bean ages ago. Well before my laptop died for the exact reason why I'm asking now. - to not ever lose my software licence for windows 7 that is. So the back sticker is still there and has faded off all the numbers/letters which is a shame. Why do they do this?  So i believe you can't transfer an OEM when a manufacturer automatically installs windows without activation. So my real question is, is there a chance that you (HP) are able to "unblock" my OEM product key so my laptop doesnt die in vain? - I have bought a new HP only 3 days ago (shows some loyalty right there  I would like to at least let the soul of my laptop live on through a VM and so I dont feel as Jibbed (robbed).  I can prove that i purchased it with bank statements, receipts you name. Ill get the proof you need! Pleaseeee can we do something about this.  Your Pal, Scott

Hi Scott, Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting and thanks for choosing HP. Just a quick notice - this is the official HP forum but you do not speak directly in an official manner to HP here. The forum is public, full of HP users, HP customers and volunteers like me. The forum is also monitored by HP staff. The OEM licence is indeed cheaper than all other Microsoft types of lics just for the same reasons that is cannot be transffered to other computers. Therefore, it is/was made for the PC that "died" and you cannot use it for any other reason on any other PC.Source >> https://www.microsoft.com/OEM/en/licensing/sblicensing/Pages/transfer_oem_licenses.aspx  Please, let me know if you need further assistance and do not hesitate to post again.

My HP Pavilion g6  Serial No 5CD2101TFW   907 GB Hard Drive  is running very slow and there is not a lot of apps or data on it, it has up to date Norton installed that continually cleand scans and protects, but only 4.00GB RAM and AMD A4-3305M APU PROCESSOR. Can it be updated in order to make it run faster, and if so what components are required and how easy is it to do. (or should l invest in another notebook?)Any help / advice will be appreciated.

A:Ram upgrade HP Pavilion g6 Product No B1W42EA#ABU

Here is the Service manual: Manual It can take up to an A8-3520M and up to 8 gigs of RAM.  It may have 2 x 2 gig RAM modules in which case  to have 8 gigs you would have to buy a pair of 4 gig modules like this: 4 GB PC3 10600 1333 MHz shared 621569-001 https://www.amazon.com/621569-001-4GB-1333MHz-PC3-10600-SODIMM/dp/B005UF674S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=... So $26 if you have one 4 gig and $52 if you have 2 x 2 gig in order to max the memory.  $25 for the processor: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-AMD-A8-3520M-1-6GHz-Socket-FS1-4MB-Quad-Core-Laptop-Processor-AM3520DDX4... You should also upgrade the mechanical hard drive to an SSD. Minimum SSD would be 240 gigs at about $70-80: https://www.amazon.com/Major-Full-Brand-240gb-256GB-Portable/dp/B06XCBQV5S/ref=sr_1_47?ie=UTF8&qid=1... I don't normally suggest laptop processor upgrades but the AMD APU models are so inexpensive and provide an increase to both processing and video performance so it is one of the few upgrades that makes sense.  So bottom line to go from a hopeless dog to a useable if not spectacular laptop you are looking at somewhere between $130 and $160.  This is assuming you can do the labor yourself. If you have to pay a technician go straight to the new laptop scenario.  I have seen decent useable Intel Core i3 (the minimum processor I would recommend) laptops with 8 gigs of RAM and a 1 TB hard drive lately at a... Hello, I am trying to sell an old HP desktop I have lying around on Amazon. But in order for me to post it on Amazon, I need to create a new listing, since nobody else is selling it. To create a new listing, I need a unique product code for the desktop computer. I'm looking to get the Universal Product Code (UPC). A UPC is the barcode that would be scanned at the point of sale when someone buys something. I have a few other computers I'm trying to sell, and on Toshiba's website the very first manual that I open for a laptop shows me the UPC. HP's manuals don't. I've tried calling customer service. And both times I either got hung up on or disconnected. It's very frustrating because I have a very basic question, and to no avail have I gotten an answer yet. If anybody can find the UPC for the HP Pavilion a6230n, and tell me how to get UPCs for HP products in the future, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I have a friend whose Aspire R7-571 has had a hard disk problem, and he is in the process of order the restore disks to reinstall WIndows 8 and other software. In the meantime I would like to install a copy of WIndows 8 from Microsoft on it, but there is no product code sticker on the laptop and it does not seem to be anywhere in the paperwork he got when it was given to him as a gift. Is there a number I can call at Acer to get this information? I was able to make an image of the files on the disk if that helps. Thank you.

A:How to get product code for windows 8

the product key is stored on BIOS, but to be valid you need the Acer OEM version.

A:Windows 7 product code

Hi: If you live in the USA/Canada, call HP at this number and order a set of recovery disks. Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer services rep. 1-800-334-5144 The cost will be around $10 delivered via first class mail.

2 years ago (August 2010), I had a desktop tower computer, which I installed Windows 7 onto. It worked fine for a bit... then died. I never had a chance to uninstall Windows 7, because the 4 year old machine just spazzed out and died. Today, I found the install disk for Windows 7. I decided to install it onto an old laptop I had (A Lenovo 3000 n200), but the problem was that I could not find the product code. It was the same code used to install Win 7 onto to old desktop, now dumped, and to my surprise, it worked.
Now for my question.
Did this happen because Microsoft did something about the product code because the computer it was on died, or did it happen because I was lucky? And if I was lucky, can I call Microsoft and tell them what happened in order to make my laptop's Win 7 truly legit?

A:Possible product code glitch.

If it's a retail version of Windows 7, it's legit.

There is no explicit deactivation. I suppose that the activation server resets in time, just as for Windows XP. If it hadn't reset, telephone activation would have been required.

I have all ways had issues with signing in with this note book no one could fix it with lots of money i am a pensenor i have not got lots of money any way i have been told by my comp that i need to contact HP to get them to reinstate my product code but they do not whant to know so i cannot use my internet with product code so how do i get it back  thanks

A:how do i get Hp to reinstate my product code

@James1946 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! HP keeps no records of individual product codes assigned to individual PCs, so there is no way they can "reinstate" yours. But, there may be other solutions -- and I'm having a hard time understanding why you need that code in order to use the Internet, since they are unrelated. Why don't you please just describe the problem in some detail, and I will see what we can do to help.We can proceed when you provide the information. Thanks
