I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Lenoyo Yoga 900 and last week it cannot charge when i plug it to power source. I try to plug and unplug in several times but still not working.  I have tried to replace the original charging cable (USB male to male) and plug it the charging adaptor to charge my Yoga 900, and still not working. I know that the charging adaptor is fine, because i can charge my phone using the Yoga 900 charging adaptor + USB type C cable. Any resolution for this problem will be much appreciate. Thank you.

Bought a Lenovo yoga 3 tablet 10 inch just over a year ago and for half of that the charger port has been very temperamental and has now stopped working totally . Have bought numerous chargers but in vain and was wondering if it would still be covered by any type of warranty ? I've had to resort to purchasing another tablet at a cost of £60 until it's repaired which was ill affordable TBH

Hi Sandie247,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can check if your warranty is active from here and call in technical support.
Otherwise , have it check with your local service center.

Hello there,I have a 14-inch Lenovo Yoga 500, and it seemed to be working perfectly fine until now, since the charging port is literally unusuable. To begin with, the issue was very minor and turning the cable around or moving it would fix the problem. However, as time went on, it became harder for me to plug the charging cable, because the laptop wouldn't respond. After a while, I realised that there was a sweet spot and I managed to cope with that, but the laptop would still cycle between charging and not charging which meant that the laptop was charging at a slower rate. Unfortunately, now it has become impossible for me to use my laptop, because I have to spend a lot of time playing with the cable in order to get my laptop charged, but the problem was that even the SLIGHTEST touch would interrupt the flow and the laptop would shut down. Now I think that there isn't a way that I can adapt to this situation, because it keeps getting worse... I read online and some people said that Lenovo can change the motherboard if the laptop is still in warranty, which unfortunately isn't the case here. So now, I'm quite stuck and unsure of what to do. I really would appreciate any help towards my problem and if you can tell me how much it would cost to change the motherboard, or fix it by an easier or more efficient way. Thanks for any help in advice,Koce.EDIT: I have also tried out different cables, but the result was the same.

I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction, as replacing a screen is far cheaper than buying a new laptop. cheers!

Hi, I have  a Thinkpad X380 Yoga. The Thunderbolt 3 Dock will not charge my Thinkpad X380 YOGA, and a message saying that the dock is not providing enough power shows up on my minitor. I wonder if anyone have a solution to this problem. It does not make  sense to have to connect the Thunderbold AND the AC power to the Thinkpad, it should be just ONE Thunderbold cord. 1. My power brick is 135W, 20V-6.75A2. I am connecting the Thunderbolt to throuogh the port on the back of the dock.3. I have went to BIOS  and under power section, "disable the battary for technical service" and pwered it back on. None of the above solutions worked.

I paid for 3 years of support and accidental damage in home support. Together, it cost around $400 on my new XPS 15" touch screen laptop. The laptop was plugged in, and when I unplugged it, the round plastic center of the charging port came out.
I called technical support at 5 pm EST, and received someone in Southern India. I gave them my information, and they confirmed that I had service. They then fought with me for 15 minutes, telling me I could NOT have any in home service. The representative, who kept calling me by my first name (no respect)  said I had to send my laptop to a depot in Texas for them to identify the issue. Finally, after I insisted, the representative, S. Sirya Kiran, FINALLY allowed me to get in home support IF I sent him photos of the damage. I did. Finally, I received an email telling me to select a date for service, which I did, 12/18/17 between 9 am and 1:00 pm .
I took time off and waited. No one came by 11:30, or called. So I contacted World Wide Tech Services. They then told me they didn't have enough techs to handle my area, so they were NOT coming. I asked why no one gave me the courtesy of a phone call and they had no answer. They said a new company, Unisys, would contact me. (I doubt they ever will.)
Is this what Dell gives people for their money as far as support and accidental damage in home service for $400? This is an outrage.

A:XPS 15 Charging port plastic center broken, no support

You may have to pay extra for North American-based support and those come with the business-class Dell PCs. Not to say that your experience will be any different, but at least their English would be more understandable.
The XPS are considered consumer-class.

Hello. I have a dell inspiron 5559 laptop. A few days ago I dropped it on the floor while charging and the port was hit by the ground. The charging port became a bit loose but it was working fine. But after some days it started showing "pluged in not charging". I took it to my local dealer and after diagnosis they said the power core (which supplies power to motherboard) is damaged and need to be replaced. But the parts are not available in the local market yet. So he suggested me to replace the charging port and charger jackk with parts from a different model. Does it work? Is It safe? Mine is 65 watt adapter with small radius pin and the replacement will be 90 watt adapter's jack (bigger radius) and port. My expert says this will just pass the power from charger to motherboard. Is he right? Should I go with his suggestion?

I?ve troubleshooted as much as I could and thought I saved enough battery for implementing a solution once I found it but it is completely dead. It seems that a lot of people across many models suddenly have an issue with charging and I noticed a firmware update for the charging port was released right before I started experiencing the issue but it would not let me install the update because it said I didn?t have any ports. I need this computer for my profession and it?s been out of commission for a week or so now. I am desperate for a fix! Where is Lenovo Support?

The only firmware update I know about is for the docking station.  I don't think this is a general problem.  Are you still under warranty?  Many are. What is the condition of the battery.  Will it start on A/C?  Are you sure your charger is working?

I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

Hi

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

I'm using the thunderbolt port for a single connection to a Dell usb-c dock (power in, KVM out, speakers, network, etc.).  The 720 charges real slow and the battery status message (in Lenovo Settings app) states that the "AC adapter cannot provide enough power for normal operation of your computer".  The Dell usb-c docks are powered with a 180w power supply that provides 60w of power to the computer, which is more than the 45w power supply that comes with the 720.  I have tried 3 different Dell docks, including a Dell thunderbolt 3 dock with a 240w power supply. I have to believe this is an issue with the Thunderbolt 3 driver on the 720 or something BIOS related.  BTW, the 720 has Windows 10 pro loaded (updated from the home version loaded by default) and Bitlocker enabled.  Don't think these changes have anything to do with the issue. I purchased Lenovo's thinkpad usb-c dock (which states that it's universal) and hope it charges the 720.

Nope.  Mine charges fine.  I have other issues but pen charging is not one of them.  If yours charges fine in another laptop that to me means nothing is wrong with the pen but something is wrong with the pen charging on your X1Y3.  Since its new  I personally would call support.

4 year old machine, had problem with wireless adapter, ordered one up that problem solved but it wouldnt power up so i bought a new battery. Perfect. It booted up fast to desktop but i noticed it was not charging, plugged in so tried another a/c adapter and then another. Research said to hold power button for 20 seconds etc, then unplug battery and boot up still nothing. I removed the MCI Microsft under Batterys in Device Mgr. That didnt help. Any ideas greatly appreciated

A:Yoga Thinkpad S1 not charging, new battery etc

Where have you purchased this battery? Many batteries that are not original can get swollen and be dangerous. Also the reason why some suggest to hold the power button for 20 seconds and remove the battery is to remove any static electricity from the laptop and to "callibrate" the battery.

Hi Rango,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform you that Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga doesn?t have a dedicated indicator for charging status.

The illuminated dots in the ThinkPad logo on the outer lid of your computer and on the palm rest show the system status of your computer:

? Blinks for three times: The computer is initially connected to the power.
? On: The computer is on (in normal mode).
? Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
? Blinks fast: The computer is entering sleep or hibernation mode.
? Blinks slowly: The computer is in sleep mode.

Hope this clarified your query!

Best regards,

Hello everyone,About a week ago, I got an error message saying something like the battery cannot be identified (I'm trying to find a screenshot somewhere).Since that moment, the battery does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged in, while the battery is nearly full (>90%).I found this thread and it fits exactly to my problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Thinkpad-Yoga-14-battery-quot-plugged-i... I understand that this behaviour might be a feature to improve the batteries lifespan, but I really want to get rid of that. The Lenovo Settings App offers the option to manually set the charging-threshold to 40-100%, but setting it to 100% or turning the feature off does not change anything.Another side effect is that the charging process does not begin until about 1 minute after the AC adapter is plugged in.I didn't knowingly change anything on the software configuration when the problem appeared, the said error message appeared while watching YouTube-videos. lg, couka

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I do not know a solution for your problem, but I want to suggest you some trial an error to see if it can be software related issue.

1) Check the Lenovo Settings and see if it asks you to update the System Interface Foundation drivers.
2) Check the support site and just in case check that you have the latest BIOS and the latest "Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 10 "

After that check the "Lenovo Settings" and give it a try turning on the option of "extended the battery life", set it to a 80% and give it some time for it to discharge. After that disable that feature to see if the battery charges back again.

Also on "Lenovo Settings", on the same "battery/power" page it has a "restablish" options, maybe you can also try that later.

Sorry that this is just some trial and error, but it is what it cames to my mind right now.

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

I hope someone can help me.  I am having an issue with connecting my Lenovo ThinkPad X380 Yoga to a USB-C Dock.  I have installed all of the drivers and enabled Thunderbold 3 within BIOS, however only the USB, LAN connections work when I plug the dock into the Laptop.  The two displays that are plugged into the dock via Display Port do not work and the laptop seems not able to detect the displays.  Things I have tried: Plugged in only one monitor using both VGA and DP but still nothing.Uninstalled and reinstralled the drivers.Ran the Lenovo support tool to make sure all drivers on the laptop are up to date.Power cycled both the laptop and dock. As I said the USB devices plugged into the dock seem to work fine as does the LAN.  I have tried to update the firmware on the dock however I keep getting the following message: ThinkPad USB-C DP Hub version can't be checked! Please power cycle the Dock to try again. I have powercycled but still have the same message.  I am all out of ideas as to why the displays do not work.   Any ideas?

Could you also tell us a bit more about the configuration?     What phone did you plug in, and what is the specifified input power required for charging that phone?  (You could look at the output power rating of the adapter that came with the phone).

Which USB port did you plug the phone into?

How much charge did the ThinkPad battery have when you put it to sleep? (Suspend)  Also, please confirm you put it in suspend / sleep vs hibernation?

Thanks!

A:Thinkpad Yoga 14 battery "plugged in, not charging...

It isn't a problem.  The battery has a nearly full charge, so the charging turns off so as not to "cook" the battery.  If you unplug the battery and let it run down a while, then plug it in, it will charge.  I tend not to charge mine until it gets under about 70%.  A Lithium battery slowly degrades after a certain number of charges.

I believe the AC Adapter has gone bad as you have mentioned that its charging fine with 90W Adapter
I don't think so it is caused due to software or Windows updates. You can also check whether its getting charged in shutdown mode or not to confirm.

Hi there, I have a question with regards to power management for my Lenovo thinkpad x1 yoga 3rd. I tried finding a solution to be able to manage the charging threshold points myself. However, anything I found points to either old solutions (Lenovo Companion, Lenovo Settings) or it doesn't seem to be fully working for my device and environment (Windows 10).I have ended up installing Lenovo Vantage from the Windows App Store but I notice that:- it takes a long time for the app to start (several minutes)- there is no "Power" menu item under HW I am not sure if the app is compatible with my device? For example, the Update System Drivers function doesn't seem to work at all. I triggered the same and the hour glass indicates gathering information but nothing seems to happen (I waited for more then 30 min).  So, as I usually work off the power supply and only seldom on battery, I want to be able to limit charging of the battery to a max of 80 or 85%. I found some instructions on tweaking registry settings but all they did so far is showing the battery icon in the task bar (but maybe that came with the Lenovo Vantage installation, I can't be fully sure).  I read several posts that the threshold settings are not necessary for modern / new systems but being an electrical engineer and having read up on the Lithium Ion Battery charging issue, I beg to differ! Unless the battery is calibrated to show 100% at a "true" 85% charge, charging the las... Read more

Hello,  The display of my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga first generation broke and the guarantee has not expired yet. Also the display has quite some scratches from the keyboard when closing the laptop (which as I've read is a common problem with this model). Is the replacement covered by guarantee? I've already had the laptop sent in some time ago due to a cracked cover, which somehow got larger over time without ever dropping it (also a common problem as I've read in some forums and heard from people I know that experienced the same problem).  I'm looking forward to an answer,  Thanks in advance! Anton

I?ve had this chrome book and charger for 2 years now and I used it a few days ago but just took it out to realize it was dead. I went to go charge it and when I pluged it in, the light didn?t flash. Not thinking, I left it in to ?charge.? When I and back, I tried to turn it on and when I hold the power button down on the side, the light repeatedly flashes quickly. I?ve tried many different outlets, but the chromebook won?t charge. I don?t know what?s wrong...any help?

My Lenovo Thinkpad is not charging the battery and shows a "plugged in, not charging" message. I have a pending Bios update that won't update since the batteries are not charged.  Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? Is there a way to update the Bios with just power plugged in?

What charging threshold do you have set in either Lenovo companion or Lenovo Vantage app?  For me I have it set at 70% and 80%.  In other words my battery wont charge until it falls below 70% and it will stop at 80%.  So if its at 75% for example it will show "plugged in, not charging"

so i use an essential phone that comes with a usb-c to usb-c cable, if i plug my phone into the usb-c ports. the power direction GOES INTO the laptop. but what i want is to charge the phone FROM the laptop. just like if i plug in a USB-A -> USB-C cable to my phone, that works fine. why not usb-c? where are the settings to change this direction?

A:Yoga 720 usb-c port not charging my phone, but usb-a does! where is the usb-c power delivery setting

Hi geminihc!

Thanks for posting in our community

As per checking, this model Yoga 720 does not have power delivery (a protocol specification which supports power delivery up to 100W of power while transmitting data in a single cable. It's designed to be a more universal charging standard that allows a range of devices (not just smartphones) to charge quickly over a USB connection) reason why the phone will not charge. You may check the product specifications in this link as well https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/Lenovo%20Tablets%20_%20Convertibles/Yoga%20720%20(15_)/Yoga...

Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone here had succesfully charged+USB hosted with the yoga book via a USB y cable or a charge and data hub? I'm an artist and I recently invested in a windows Yoga Book. I often have a USB drive, keyboard and mouse connected to the device via a powered USB hub. This is great, except for the fact I can't charge my yoga book while I do this- so the time I can spend working on projects that require both the keyboard and realpen is limited (and I like to really hunker down for many hours at a time. If I'm not using it it charges up to full in about 2 hours, which isn't bad in the great scheme but it's not always great).I know some devices support simultanious USB charging and USB hosting, but it's unclear to me if the yoga book's USB hardware in particular does. I checked the specification sheet for the intel xHCI chipset, but I'm not an engineer and the 500 pages didn't convey much to my tiny brain at all, which is why I'm asking here.
