IE11 on 2019 RDS Application Error on MSHTML.dll (possibly jscript.dll)

Q: IE11 on 2019 RDS Application Error on MSHTML.dll (possibly jscript.dll)

I have an RDS that IE is crashing pretty consistently on trying to Print off some websites. The server is a 2019 RDS server, all the latest patches as of today. sfc returns no issues nor does dism check health. Below you'll find the output from AppCrash
on one of they many event viewer logs.

Preferred Solution: IE11 on 2019 RDS Application Error on MSHTML.dll (possibly jscript.dll)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an application running .NET Framework 4.7.2 which we have recently started migrating onto Windows Server 2019 servers. We have started receiving reports of issues in Internet Explorer 11 having issues with controls (which we can replicate). Some of
the errors we see in the console include.

'WebForm_FireDefaultButton' is undefined
'WebForm_SaveScrollPositionSubmit' is undefined
'WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions' is undefined

When an app pool recycle is performed on the application, the issue seems to go away for a period of time, but does return.

I recently came across the following article in which the symptoms appear to be very similar, but for a previous version of Windows Server.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2600088/a-hotfix-is-available-for-the-asp-net-browser-definition-files-in-the?WT.mc_id=-blog-scottha#

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with software running on Windows Server 2019 accessed with IE11?

Hi,
I'm having an issue customizing the Start Page registry key in Windows Server 2019 (this method works fine in 2016) I would load C:\Users\Default\NTUSER.DAT and add \Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page REG_SZ "Company specific URL"
and when a new user logs in they'd get the "Company specific URL" but with Windows Server 2019 this isn't working.
I have also tried adding "First Home Page" and "Default_Page_URL" and it doesn't make a difference, it seems some sort of mini setup is configuring the registry keys and ignoring or overwriting what I entered into NTUSER.DAT from the
Default user profile.
I've also got IE Enhanced Security Configuration disabled for Admins and Users along with the following other registry keys set that all are working fine.
[HKEY_USERS\DefaultUser\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Friendly http errors"="no"

[HKEY_USERS\DefaultUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"AutoDetect"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_USERS\DefaultUser\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"DisableFirstRunCustomize"=dword:00000001

Wondering if anyone has found a workaround or missing key that also needs to be set, thanks.

I am getting a "Jscript syntax error" box coming up when I attempt to log onto a specific gaming website. I am using Internet Explorer as a browser. There is an "OK" button in the Jscript syntax error box and after clicking on it about 6 times, it goes away and i can continue on playing my game. This only happens on 1 website. All else is running good. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this syntax error.

A:JScript error

Look in the Internet options to see if you have a check mark in the box for Use automatic configuration script, if there is try removing the check mark. Close IE (Internet Explorer)Go to Start> Control Panel> Internet Options.Select the Connections tab and then click on LAN settings. At the top there are two settings, Automatically detect settings and Use automatic configuration script. Uncheck the Use automatic configuration script. Click the OK boxes to close and save your settings.

I have been having problems the past couple of days and things keep getting worse. I went to use Windows Explorer Search and all that came up was the puppy. I tried some of the popular items of re-registering and keep getting DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll failed Return code was: 0x8000400. Tried reloading Script 5.6, similar error OCX C:\win..\sys..32\jscript.dll. Along the way I was propmted to upgrade to IE8, but have rolled back. So now Search and User Group come up blank(lost a user along the way on the startup splash) and any sites that need Java wit IE7 come up in error. Tried the tips from http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/617205-solved-trouble-registering-jscript-dll.html, same problem with SWEG flashing and though I was able to get permission for Jscript using secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose, I get "Error opening key" for CLSID and OLEScript. User devil_himself seemed to have some good suggestions but just can't get it fixed. OBTW, Firefox works, in fact if I didn't have that I would not have been able to register for the forum (no image verification displayed in IE). Also I am using ESET NOD32, disabling didn't seem to help.
Thanks

A:Solved: jscript.dll error - tried everything

Java doesn't work, either? The jscript.dll file has to do with javascript so it has nothing at all to do with Java. If both are not working, you may be infected unless they have been disabled by your anti-malware applications.

Test them here:

I have a registry error with the regsvr32 jscript.dll. I tried to run it out of the command prompt on all users on my computer, and it managed to successfully fix only one of the users. I do not have a windows XP CD to use to restore the registry, so I tried using microsoft support's steps to repairing the registry, which are:

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID\{f414c260-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}\InprocServer32
The (Default) value data should contain the following value: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JSCRIPT.DLL
If it does not, double-click Default, type C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JSCRIPT.DLL in the Value data box, and then click OK.
The ThreadingModel value data should contain the following value: Both
If it does not, double-click ThreadingModel, and then type Both in the Value data box.
Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID\{f414c261-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}\InprocServer32
Repeat steps 3 and 4 to edit this key, and then go to step 7.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 to edit this key, and then go to step 9.
Exit Registry Editor.
I got to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID folder in the registry, but on all users except the one that was fixed, the registry did not have the {f414c261-... Read more

Hello,

Windows 7 x64 (no SP1 yet). Java version 1.6.0_24-b07.

I occasionally get a warning dialog titled "Microsoft JScript compilation err.." The text is simply "Syntax error".

On the task manager, the process is javaw.exe *32.

I don't know which script or process is generating the error. I usually have Outlook 2010 running, but I'm having a tough time pinpointing the culprit.

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

John.

A:JScript compilation error

Just for your information, Java and Javascript are actually totally separate things. Your error is for javascript, not Java.

Do you also have a browser running when this happens?
Is the email you are viewing in the HTML format? In other words is it something other than Plain Text?

Hi
I'm running Win 7 fully updated, but have recently started getting this error msg at various times but always when I'm not actually at the PC. Programs running are Outlook 2013, Explorer, Win Media Player (fully updated), Picasa & Firefox, along with MSE & Roboform in the background.

The error springs up in a box stating: object doesn't support this property, & requires 2 clicks to knock it off whereupon it then doesn't return for maybe 3-4 days or longer, but eventually it does pop up again.

It's not causing any obvious problems but am curious to find out what might be provoking it. Google searches only seem to discuss actual scripting projects etc rather than just normal usage of the PC, so weren't a lot of help .

Thanks
TKR

A:jscript runtime error

The Jscript (Java Script I believe) error is probably related to Firefox though it could also be Internet Explorer. It's going to be tough to figure this out when it only fails every 3-4 days.

I'd suggest looking at the Add-ons for Firefox and IE, see what you have. None are required though some are handy.

It is getting very irritating, and interfering with my work.  - A mysterious floating white circle appeared on my desktop background. I cannot click on or interact with it, and changing the desktop background does not remove the circle. Then, a second circle appeared. Now, there is also a floating white rectangle. The rectangle poses the biggest issue, because it remains on TOP of whatever other windows I have open, constantly obstructing part of my screen unless I reboot the computer. The circles remain on the desktop background. Hello.

Sometimes, when I browse the Internet, it's occured the message "Internet Explorer has occured an error....". Strange, but until now, only when I want to open some news who are in my E-Mail (from Wall-Street News), this problem is occurred. The details of this error are:
Error signature
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.6000.16876 ModName: mshtml.dll
ModVer: 7.0.6000.16890 Offset: 000965de
My operating system is Windows XP Professional (5.1.2600) Service Pack 3 and the application for browsing the Internet is Windows Internet Explorer 7.
I have tryed to run regsvr32..., but it doesn't work. I receive the message "mshtml.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file can not be registered".
I can not also rewrite a new downloaded mshtml.dll file instead the old file in WINDOWS/System32.
Perhaps this problem is happened because in the past I have used CCleaner and this is not appropriate?
I don't know.
Please help me.

Thank you in advance,
Scai

Hi folks, i've been having a quick look round the forum to try and find an answer to an issue i'm having but i'm obviously either just not finding a solution or putting in the wrong criteria or something!!

anyway, for the last couple of weeks i've been getting an issue, think it followed on from me installing windows script host 5.6.

Now i'm getting constant errors when trying to use IE (not that i use it too often) and the likes of WLMessengery/yahoo messenger and even a live chat program i use for my business.

i can't seem to find anything to tell me how to totally remove this wshost and i've tried disabling in control panel but i still get the errors.
Code:
Exception EAccessViolation in module mshtml.dll at 00209EDC.

Access violation at address 3DC29EDC in module 'mshtml.dll'. Read of address 00000000.
this was the error i'm getting from my chat program, and its a similar thing with everything else.

funnily i'm having no issues with google chrome and i think firefox was ok too

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:mshtml.dll error

This error happens when the mshtml.dll file is missing or deleted. It can also happen when we "repair" the registry and damage or delete the mshtml.dll file. To repair this you must install the most current security update for IE. Make sure you have the latest Windows Updates.

For the past few weeks I've been getting this error in IE "IE has caused an error in mshtml.dll IE will now close" .And just lately I've been getting that same "mshtml.dll" error in AIM.I did some searching on google for this error and found a few sites that said it was a problem with a certain version of internet explorer and to update IE.I updated from 5.5 to 6.0 sp1 and I'm still getting the error message.Also since I started getting this I can't open my control panel when I try to I get an "Internet explorer script error" message and my control panel comes up blank and the only options I get in IE's internet options are all java related there's nothing about unclicking script error message notifications.Also tried deleting and replacing mshtml.dll from windows but it wouldn't let me.

Hey, this probleme has been hunting me for weeks, I think there is something terribly wrong with my comptuer.

So first I tryed to install this adobe program and then it said that Jscript isn't registered properly.
Then i googled the probleme. Everywhere I look says that I need to type in "regsvr32 jscript" into a ADMINISTRATED Command Prompt. I did that and a error came up says

"The module Jscript was loaded but the call to DLLregisterserver failed with Error 0x80004005"

I have tryed the same thing with VBscript and came up the same message.

i am 10000% positive that i have 100% administration right... Unless something is messed up with my registry

So then I ran Regcure.. alot of times, dected thousants of errors and fixed them. But I still can't register jscript.

And other problemes on my computer comes along with this error too like

MY NORTON 360(antivirus) WON'T SCAN!

WINDOW CAN'T UPDATE

I GET BLUE SCREEN ALOT

WHENEVER I TRY TO ACCEPT A USER AGREEMENT WITH ADOBE, IT DOESN'T WORK!!

"PC TOOLS SPYWARE DOCTOR" CAN'T SMART UPDATE.

Soo please! I really don't want to pay some guy to fix these for me.
Could anyone please tell me whats wrong with my computer and how to fix it??

- I am willing to pay for any program
Thank you in advance and sorry if this is in the wrong section

This could be due to incorrect permissions (registry and/or file system). Microsoft has a tool to reset the security permissions to default settings. See if that can help.

Hello,

Yesterday I started having problems with IE just crashing on me. At some sites (such as my default page), the page would not even get to finish loading before I'd get the ol' error message, "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Accompanying this message is the option to send an error report to MS. At other websites, I can surf freely (such as at MS website to search for help on this - HA!).

Anyway, I clicked on the "more info" button, and it tells me there is an error in the mshtml.dll mod. I have no idea what this means or how to fix it. I have tried repairing IE, restoring previous version and then reinstalling IE, and I keep getting the same message. I have noticed that IE crashes mostly when there are pages opening that have one sort of pop-up or javascript ad running in the background, so I decided to give hijackthis a try (since I've had success dealing with you great fellas in the past).

Here is the hijackthis log from my computer (running Windows98):

You are running P2P and have no AV!!

Do a couple online scans from this list http://forums.techguy.org/t110854.html

Then get AVG http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ and do a full scan

SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
AdAware SE http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
SpyBot S&D http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

DL them (they are free), install them, check each for their definition updates and then run AdAware and Spybot, fixing anything they say.

Then post a new log

Going back to system status as of a week previous allowed at least reloading of AOL. But then then the same problem recurred.

Any ideas for the not very computer literate?
Is it worth trying out one of these services, which purport to find dll errors and fix them?

Any help appreciated.

I found some closed threads here on the mshtml.dll error caused by IE 5.5 under ME.

Three main causes were cited by folks, one the video driver settings, one overheating, the other had a link to MS site which said it could be fixed by downloading latest 5.5.

It can't. Thought oheating might be cause til found it happened cold as well. Think video driver most likely. I have matrox G450, everything set to optimum performance.

Need it that way, so can people let me know of any workarounds for it?

Mind you I have a problem with Word 2000 too (ms09.dll)

Hi there!

For sometime now I've been getting errors when trying to use Outlook Express 6. Before, the error would pop up out of the blue randomly and say the program caused an error and had to be shut down. I cann't recall what filename was listed as causing the error, but it was a dll, and started with "nt"

I just started getting a different error and it is causing some very serious issues I need to get resolved ASAP! I cannot reply to a single email and I have a large amount of business emails I need to respond to shortly.

I have attached a screenshot of the error I was getting... That error comes up EVERY time I click Reply, to respond to a message. I was able to reply to 1 email about 20 minutes ago, so this started immediatly after that.

Does anybody have any ideas how I can get this fixed quickly? LIke I said, I have a large amount of emails that need a response tonight.

Thank you!
- Jennifer

I use Internet Explorer dll files to show html content in my text field. It seams that problem is only on Windows 7. I was able to reproduce it when I installed on one of computers update KB2952664 (but it seams that some later update can trigger hanging too).

Hello,
I recently formatted my computer, (3 times) because I suspected that I had a virus that wouldn't let me on the internet. I ran CCleaner before I reformatted and let it fix all the problems found in the registry. (Now I am regretting that I done this because I didn't know what I was doing). I done a backup of what it fixed but when I reformatted the computer after, I didn't save it on my memory stick. Now I am still having problems getting on the computer. Everytime that I open IE I get an error message that it needs to shut down.

I have searched Microsoft and it had some information and the article stated to update to the latest updates and this should fix the problem, but when I try to update my computer, it goes to a not available screen and won't let me update.

I have already had a post in the Am I affected area of this forum and had someone to help me. We done several different steps and concluded that I don't have a virus or malware on the computer at this time and he suggested that I post in the XP forum. Hopefully someone can help me fix my computer.

(Win-XP) After getting an Error Msg telling me that I was "missing" a file named mshtml.hlp, I began a Google search using "mshtml.hlp" as the search string. Many search return results indicated that the problem was a programming language issue and others suggested that I search the Microsoft Knowledgebase. While reading these, one part of my mind was chewing on the question... what has changed in the 48 hours since I was able to save images that were embedded in my Outlook Express E-mail. It occurred to me that Microsoft had more or less forced IE7 on me 24 hours ago as an automatic update. That is the only thing different. I change my search string in Google to "uninstall ie7" and found instructions to uninstall ie7.Went to the "Control Panel", found Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7 and uninstalled it. I must admit that there was some concern in the back of my mind as to what Explorer version, if any, I would be left with. Once the uninstall was completed, I rebooted and lo... all was as it was before the problem. I had IE6 and OE6 (Outlook Express 6) back. I tried using the Save-As feature on the same images that had caused me to get the error message. Nice... the error was fixed. No error msg and the image was saved the way I used to do it.Moderator Edit: Moved topic to more appropriate forum and added a topic descriptor. ~ Animal

Try to reinstall SP2 on your system. This will, effectively, repair Internet Explorer 6 (you may have to visit Windows Update to ensure that it didn't wipe out some of your updates).

Dear All,

I would like to install the program Treefinder (http://www.treefinder.de/) to a notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium. The installation script is in a file "install.js":

-------
var WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell");

var path = WScript.ScriptFullName;
var tfdir = path.substr(0,path.lastIndexOf("\\"));

var env = WSHShell.Environment("SYSTEM");
env.Item( "TFDIR" ) = tfdir;

var shortcut = WSHShell.CreateShortcut(tfdir + "\\-TREEFINDER-.lnk");
shortcut.TargetPath = tfdir + "\\treefinder.js";
shortcut.WorkingDirectory = "";
shortcut.WindowStyle = 4;
shortcut.IconLocation = tfdir + "\\icon32.ico";
shortcut.Save();
-------

The machine has:
java version "1.6.0_03"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode, sharing).

If I double click "install.js", I get the error message:

Perhaps this "permission" error is easy to correct, but I do not know how to go about it. I thought it might have been connected with the Windows Security Center Firewall, but if I disabled the fir... Read more

I developed a little mapping plattform showing aerial images. This application loads image tiles from another url path on the same domain. All comunication is secure via HTTPS / SSL.

E.g.:
Application: https://somehostname/schraegluftbilder/schraegluftbilder.html
Image tiles: https://somehostname/schraegluftbilder_2gj5kk91p0/Aktuell/[filename].jpg
(Sorry, i can't give you the actual url, because this is only accesible in our company intranet)
Internet Explorer 11 has Problems doing this, no image tile can be loaded, F12 DevTools say that the HTTPS GET Request is status "aborted". If i switch the debug mode (compability) from "Edge" to "10" or "9" everthing
works fine.
Another thing we testet: If i copy the url from which the image is supposed to be loaded and paste this in a new browser tab, the image appears like it should.

Is there any new security policy which forbids ie11 to load files from another subdirectory (in our case from
schraegluftbilder_2gj5kk91p0 to schraegluftbilder)?

STOP: c oooo 145 {application error. The application failed to initialize properly (0x 0000005). Click OK to terminate application. The above message is what I receive, when I run "error check". It was advised from the Microsoft website that I ran ERROR CHECK, along with "disk cleanup" & "defrag" analysis, to see if the machine needs to be defragged.I went along with the advised procedures by Microsoft, because it was said that the computer would run faster. I've been doing the ones that worked, defrag analysis, disk clean up & CC Cleaner. Along with those maintenance tasks, I update all the definitions on the malware software. With the aforementioned error message problem with the lap top, I also have a problem with Adobe Reader (listed in another topic), that I can't uninstall it, without getting a 'Error 1402' message. Then the one last problem is the cursor jumping around at random times, when I am typing to either the forum or in a Word document. I mention these other issues because I am not sure they're not related. This is a DELL Inspiron 1520, Centrino (2007). I have another laptop, a 5150 Inspiron, with a P4 chip, and it absolutely has no issues. It hasn't even caught a virus. I don't use it as much now, but in the past I took it everywhere. It is heavy & the fan was on the bottom, so I built a stand out of PVC pipe & fittings. It kept the laptop off of the surface so it could get air circulati... Read more

What steps are you taking to run the check?

That error seems to indicate a hard drive problem, which is why it was suggested to run chkdsk /r.

Start/Run...type chkdsk /r and hit Enter. Type Y in new screen and hit Enter. Reboot the system. The command should execute, before booting into XP.
