Logitech wireless mouse M305 no longer works

Q: Logitech wireless mouse M305 no longer works

In the process of renovating a VERY old Dell Inspiron 2650 to give to disadvantaged kids, I tried using the USB receiver in that laptop. Didn't work, so I used a wired mouse instead. The receiver had been plugged into my Win 7 Toshiba laptop, but when I re-inserted the receiver back into that laptop, the mouse doesn't work. I've tried removing both the receiver and the battery in the mouse, per some advice I read on the Web, but that did nothing. Have also tried downloading the driver. Regardless, when I plug the receiver into a USB port on the laptop, it "beeps" indicating that it recognizes the receiver. . . but it still doesn't work.

If I plug the receiver into my Win 7 desktop, the mouse works.

What's wrong here?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I've it and the laptop since November 24th this year; they were a bundle deal. The mouse had worked fine til I tried to use it today after the windows update last night. A new battery for the mouse didn't change a thing. The usb piece that plugs in- my laptop doesn't seem to acknowledge it? Either way the mouse itself just blinks red at me and won't do a thing more even when I try restarting it via connect button on it. Any solutions?

I just got my g15 yesterday in the mail at about 7:30 pm. It worked fine and everything. Before I got off I exited out the profiler and lcd programs. This morning I got on at about 8 and it worked fine. I got home at about 4:30 pm from school and now the g15 has no power, but the computer does make the noise that it recognizes it when I plug it in...I have windows vista home premium.

I reset the computer, that didn't help. I reinstalled the drivers, that didn't help. I tried plugging into another usb port, still nothing. Any help would be much appreciated.

and it works on my other computer

Ok guys.. heres a good one for ya..
I have windows 7 pro, 64 bit.\

Have logitech g110 gaming keyboard.
M510 USB mouse.

3 days ago the mouse's sideways movement got very very slow. Tried to fix it, but windows didn't see it anymore. Tried installing the latest software.. it would not see it..

figured the problem was the usb buss, so i started uninstalling them in device manager.. still no luck.

Tried removing the usb hub, uinstalled it.. rebooted each time i did something.. still when I run the software it will not see the keyboard yet it lights up.. so something is going on somewhere.

now im stuck using an old ms keyboard in the keyboard plug in, in the back of the computer, and a wired logitech mx310 mouse..

can anyone tell me how to fix the USB problem so I can go back to using my wireless mouse and my g110 keyboard??

Thanks.

Hardware: Lenovo T430s
OS: Windows 7

I have a Lenovo T430s running Windows 7. It has 3 USB ports. Up until recently, I was using a wireless Logitech M310 mouse. Upon switching to a wired Logitech B100 mouse, I noticed that the wireless mouse works in all 3 USB ports, but the wired mouse works in only 2 of the 3 USB ports. I tried a USB memory stick and it works in all three. I tried a reboot and the wired mouse still works in only 2 of the 3 ports. I borrowed another Logitech B100 wired mouse and it also works in only 2 of the 3 ports (the same 2 as the other mouse). Does anyone know what it going on?

A:Logitech Mouse works on some good USB ports, but not others

im not sure if its a windows bug, hardware bug, driver bug or a usb thing, but i had the exact same problem.

I have different hardware to you (a cyborg v7 keyboard and a RAT9 mouse), but same results.
mine sometimes decides it no longer likes the port its in and will work fine in the other port it never used to. ive googled and googled and never got an answer to my situation.

however yours being a laptop and not a desktop (like mine) it maybe easier to point the finger.

does it work in the 2 usb port that are next to each other and not the 3rd thats on its own?

if this is the case chances are it has a different controller on the motherboard. it could be solved by upgrading your chipset drivers.

Hi folks, I have been having some issues with my G9 mouse that I tried to solved on my own but it is getting a bit annoying so I guess is time to ask the Gurus.

I dual boot with Vista Ultimate 64 bit & Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit but I have the Logitech setpoint installed only on my Win 7 OS so in Vista it just works as a regular mouse... can't get the wife to come to Win 7 (nags that she has to learn to use everything all over again LOL).

But I digress, the main problem is that, sometimes, the G9 set profiles work but most times it doesn't, I literally have to go to Device Settings, click on the G9 button, then on the Apply button, finally on the OK button and now all my mouse buttons do what they are supposed to do. (**)

I have tried to back trace the issue but to no avail, sometimes it will quit working even when I start the PC (do a cold boot), most of the time it won't work and I have to do the above (**), other times it will work beautifully from a cold boot, sometimes it quits working when I go from Vista and restart into Win 7, other times it works when I do this. And sometimes it happens even when I reboot from Win 7.

Things I have done...
Uninstall the old copy of Set-point, clean registry, restart and install a fresh copy of the latest setpoint (I have not tried their latest 6.15 yet but I doubt it will fix the issue or make a difference... I will try to install it tonight nonetheless).
I have also Scheduled a Task for it to start at lo... Read more

Hey all,

I just installed Windows 7 earlier today. The install went fine, until right near the end. I had to click 'next' to a question, which I had already done a few times, but this time the tab was not responding. I tried again and again, then finally just hovered over the tab and pressed enter on my keyboard which did the trick.

Now that the OS is up and running, everything is working fine but I just have one problem. My left mouse button is doubling up as a 'back' button. So if I am in a folder and want to double click a new folder, or even if I just left click on empty space, it will take me backwards one folder. A nightmare in internet explorer aswell.

For the time being Ive switched the two buttons around, so I have an action button, but no right click (on the left mouse button now) anymore.

Ive tried installing the original drivers, and in compatibility for Vista, but nothing seems to fix the problem. Anybody have any suggestions? Id be real grateful to hear them

Cheers,

Oh and the mouse is a Logitech LX7 wireless.

Thanks,
Mikes

Yes it is normal to have that many things under USB. Right click the Alps Pointing device and the HID compliant mouse and Uninstall them. Unplug the USB mouse and restart the computer. After Windows loads plug in the USB mouse. A new hardware wizard should recognize it and install the proper driver for it.

First i have a optical wheel mouse 1.1a by microsoft. The other night the light went out and it simply stopped working. I thought the mouse itself had shorted out. I plugged it into my laptop and it recognized it instantly and it worked fine. That laptop runs winxp with sp2 as well (same as my desktop it failed on). I tried it on an old win98 laptop i had and it even worked there as well, no problems. I tried it again on my desktop again and nothing happens. I thought "oh great my usb ports went out!" I plugged in my jumpdrive, worked fine.. hrm usb ports work, mouse works on other computer, but not this one? I have a total of 4 mice sitting infront of me (3 ps/2 and 1 usb) one of the ps/2 will not work on this machine either, but works on the laptop. I have no idea what the problem is. I even tried a USB to PS/2 converter on the optical mouse and still nothing. Any ideas what might be happening?

Also i just tried my little wireless mouse i use on my laptop. The reciever is a usb adapter and it works fine in the desktop. Im so stumped.

Yes well it has stumped me to as you have pritty much trouble shot your own problem! the only other suggestion is to uninstall->reboot-.reinstall driver software for the microsoft mouse as i noticed you have not.

Even though it boots on other p.c (which is good to pinpoint the issue) it shows us that this P.c. driver is suspect as all hardware has been accounted for. download the latest driver if you want from;

Hello all, I'm new at the forums, and I have an issue I'm hoping you can help me solve.

I have a cheap USB Gigaware mouse from radioshack that stopped working out of nowhere a few days ago. It may not sound strange but here's some interesting details:

I am running seven on my imac, and whenever I boot in the mac partition, the mouse works fine (same USB slot). But in windows as soon as it boots (or plug in the mouse) I get the small bubble notification saying that the computer found a new USB device (even though I've been using it for months now) and then gives me a new notification to tell me it's installed. However, the mouse does not respond to any input (no movement or clicking). After that, Windows proceeds to make the "new hardware is found" sound over and over again with 1-2 minute intervals. So I know the mouse is working, and it must be a software related issue.

I thought it might be a driver issue so I tried using the System Preparation Tool 3.14 (as directed in this guide Windows 7 Installation - Transfer to a New Computer) hoping to reset some drivers to default and that it would fix the issue, to no avail. Also I have tried doing a Repair install but an error will not allow me to do so.

So does anyone have any idea why a mouse that works fine would stop working all of a sudden?

A:My mouse no longer works on this OS. Need help identifying issue

W7 isn't designed to run on your hardware in truth.

Try swapping USB ports, and failing that then try a better mouse is all I can suggest.

No guarantees, your hardware setup isn't exactly orthodox

Hi & welcome to the Forum.

You will probably need to reinstall the Logitech mouse software. Go to the Logitech website & click on the downloads tab. Then search for your mouse & when you have found the right one, download the software & install it.

Make sure you get the 64 bit version if your Windows 7 installation is also 64 bit.

I just purchased a Logitech M505 Wireless Laser mouse. My computer is an i7 Core machine with Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. Inserting the USB receiver plug caused the normal driver install process which was successful. However, no mouse action at all. I've tried different USB slots to no avail. My Microsoft laptop wireless mouse works fine, from all the same USB slots. The M505 does work on another computer running in the house (laptop with Windows 7 64-bit Professional).
Don't believe it's the mouse itself. I originally bought the M705 model and took it back when I couldn't get it to work, thinking it was defective (the same conclusion reached by Logitech Tecnical Support). They were out of stock for the M705 so I replaced it with the M505, only to get the same result.

Several minutes, and sometimes less, after boot-up, the mouse becomes erratic, sometimes coming to a complete halt. Thinking it was either the interference of an outside signal or a build-up of static electricity, I have tried several things, including 1) rebooting, 2) disconnecting the power sources, 3) moving my external hard drive away from the mouse, 4) using different keypads to limit potential static build-up, 5) moving my entire system to a somewhat different location (fortunately, it's all on wheels) -- absolutely none of this works! Disconnecting the main power source and reconnecting it solves the problem sometimes, but only temporarily.

I have also tried to remove all the redundant devices using device manager and this does not work either. Any useful advice on how to overcome this problem would be most appreciated.

Regards Miket.

I'm not sure what model number the mouse and keyboard that I have are, but I have a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard (in addition to my regular mouse and keyboard) which I use to be able to watch movies on my computer from a distance.

Recently, the "Device Connect" and "Device Disconnect" sounds have been sounding off randomly, but frequently on my computer. I opened the device manager window, and watched as the Logitech mouse popped in and out of the device manager window in sync with the noises.

I have disconnected the mouse and keyboard. I have tried to uninstall the software, but all of my attempts have been fruitless. If someone has advice as to how to troubleshoot this, I would appreciate it. I'm looking for a solution more than simply turning off the "Device Connect" and "Device Disconnect" sounds. Any and all help would be appreciated!

Hi All,

I'm trying to help a friend install a Logitech MX610 on his Acer Travelmate 4060 laptop without any success.
We've tried every USB port on the computer, and tried installing all of the software which came with the CD included in the box. After running the Hardware Wizard, Windows XP Pro says that it can't install the device.
We've spent time on the phone with Logitech tech support, and they say that it's a defective device, and are sending us a new mouse; however, when I plug the unit into my brand new desktop PC, it starts working immediately.

Just wondering if anybody has had any similar experiences, or have any tips.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Max

Hi, is Logitech's wireless mice still vulnerable to the MouseJack issue, or have they been patched yet?

A:Logitech's wireless mouse still vulnerable to MouseJack?

Hello there,

Have you tried installing the latest Windows updates recently? Microsoft has issued a fix for Mousejacker via Windows update.

http://news.softpedia.com/news/microsoft-issues-optional-windows-update-to-fix-mousejack-vulnerability-502962.shtml

Follow the steps below to install Windows updates

1. Open Windows Update by clicking the "Start" button.
2. In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click "Windows Update"
3. Select install latest updates

Hope this helps!

I'm unsure of why this started, in all honesty - it was working earlier today, and out of nowhere, it stopped working. I frequently use the right click, and I do know that the switches tend to give out after a good while. To make sure it wasn't the function itself, I switched the left/right click functions through the control panel, and the function worked fine. I've also tested another mouse (temporarily using it) to make sure it's not my computer. I'm just wondering - based off of this, is my suspicion of a failing switch probable?

On another note, my keyboard seems to be "slowing down" a bit. I haven't toyed with the settings to speed up or slow down anything, but when I hold down a key, it takes longer to repeat it than it was earlier (before the right click gave out). They are both wireless Logitech hardware items - could the problem lie in the receiver?

This is really bothering me - help's appreciated!

(I don't find it TOO important in this case, but I'm running on XP p: )

Hi, I'm having a very strange issue with my Lenovo G500 laptop that started with my touchpad mouse erratically clicking more than once on a single click. It started as a minor annoyance and escalated to the point where the touchpad mouse no longer works at all. To get around this problem, I now use an external mouse. This worked fine for a while but I am now starting to notice the same issue with it as well.

It does not seem to be a virus or malware or a failed hard drive as I just replaced my HD with a brand new SSD & fresh copy of Windows and I am still having this issue. Any ideas?

Hi, everyone, I just joined and would like some help, please. I didn't find a thread specific to my case (maybe there's one and I didn't see, though). I have a 6 year old Compaq Presario F730US running Vista Home Premium and it has been working fine all these years; yesterday, while online the blue light indicating wireless ON became amber suddenly and I can no longer connect except wired. The wireless adapter is not showing on Device Manager or anywhere else and HP Wireless Assistant won't open. Things I've already tried:
-Update/uninstall/reinstall driver
-Remove/reinstall hardware
-System Restore to at least a week prior
And some other tips from some tech sites around. Of course, nothing worked.
Thanks for any help.

Last week the wireless connection on my PC upstairs quit working. I have 2 PCs and 2 PS3s. One PC(my main one) and PS3 are downstairs in my "gaming room" with a wired connection to my router(Linksys WRT54GL). My other PC(connected with a linksys ethernet bridge in bedroom, used just for email really) and other PS3(in living room) had wireless connections.
Everything was perfectly fine for years, then last week the PC in my bedroom no longer would connect. At first I thought that the bridge went out due to it's age and I bought a usb wireless adaptor. That did not solve the problem. After investigating further with my limited knowledge I saw that the IP address assigned wasn't valid for internet use(196.168.255.2 or something to that effect). I manually changed to IP to one that would be in range(192.168.1.112) and it did not help.
The lights on the bridge seem correct(power, lan and wlan). I took the PC downstairs and it is able to connect with a wired connection. When I run ipconfig with a wired connection everything looks fine, but when I try with the bridge or adapter the IP is invalid. I tried to ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew but I get an error when trying to renew. I even ran a program called "Winsockxpfix" and it did not solve the problem either. I disabled the firewall and it did not solve the issue. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
