Finding a Computer On LAN from Internet to Operate a Robot?

Q: Finding a Computer On LAN from Internet to Operate a Robot?

Hello,

Here is my basic goal: to have a self-contained robot (computer) that can be added to most any wireless network (tcp/ip) and be found and recognized via the Internet with no additional set up. That's the ideal. To try this I'm using a Linksys router on a small LAN with Windows computers.

I note that Dell can remotely service a computer on a LAN. After giving Dell a code number on the computer, they can call a LAN, locate the computer and work on it remotely. This seems like a very good way of doing things and I'm wondering what they do and how they implement it?

Or, is there a better way? I've been looking at “ARP –a” to find IP to MAC address mapping, but I think this is only useful from within the LAN and not from the Internet.

I gather there are two fundamental ways:
1> Port forwarding, which requires router setup.
2> Calling out to a server on the web, which then sets up a bidirectional connection. This would require an outside server.

Is that exhaustive?

I've been mining for information on this problem, trying to find good solutions.

Thanks for any feedback!

...John

Preferred Solution: Finding a Computer On LAN from Internet to Operate a Robot?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

as stated in the Title, i am trying to connect a Lego Mindstorms EV3 Brick to my pc that is running a custom linux-based OS (Getting Started with ev3dev). I can connect it via USB just fine, it detects it as a wired connection as its supposed to.
Now, to do what i want to do with my robot, i need to share my internet connection. The connection i share the internet connection from is my universities wireless network. I have tried enabling and disabling FIPS on that network, does not change that i get a bluescreen.

The bluescreen itself appears from a few seconds to about a minute after i activate sharing my internet connection. It says Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal.

i attached the .zip file created by dm log collector.

greetings,
tmork

edit: the earliest i will be able to test any solutions will be coming monday, nov 7th. i hope i can get the problem fixed until then, since the assignment needs me to run my programs on the ev3.

Howdy everyone!

First a list of all those involved:

AOL 9.0 SE
IE 7
cable broadband connection
AOL is default browser
Scenario:

I open AOL. The window opens and it prompts asking for the password. I enter password.

AOL runs, gives the "You have mail" prompt, runs AIM and then one of two things happens.

1- AOL loads the usual (in my case) "Welcome" window with the little menu bar to the left, and

then IE prompts to connect to the internet when I go to another page or site, or

2- IE prompt to connect immediately. In this case, the "Welcome" window does not appear. If I

connect it takes me to AOL.com

In either case IE does not open, but is online. If I opt not to connect with IE, I can't use the internet

with AOL.

Thanks in advance,

Hermez

Alright, so I built a brand new computer with one of my friends about ten days ago, and has worked fine since then. Yesterday (July 3) I went to a family thing and left my computer on. When I came back, it was shut off so out of common sense I turn it back on. Start it normally, and about 45 seconds after the desktop loads, it just shuts off. No warning, no nothing. This now happens every time I try to use it out of safe mode, and I've tried everything I can think of. It only runs in safe mode now. I've tried deleting a bunch of things that I don't use in safe mode, which did nothing, tried system recovery, which did nothing, (it was restored to about 12 hours to before I left on the 3rd) I've done a virus scan and there was nothing to be removed. So I don't know what else to do and I need help. If PC specs or anything like that would help let me know, and thanks a lot.

A:Computer cannot operate out of Safe Mode

when Windows will run in safe mode only, it usually means a bad or conflicting third-party driver. Third-party drivers are not loaded in safe mode so that's why Windows is able to start.

As it scans my computer I get porn pop ups and screens asking me to run a virus scan I keep saying no and delete the porn pop ups. Mcafee finds 53 problems and 16 quarantined files, but it still scans. Before Mcafee can finish scanning a window pops up saying that computer will shutdown in twenty seconds. I watch as my computer shuts down mcafee and then everything else. I start it up again, the screen is black, then for a split second the windows XP screen comes on. After that it goes black and then it asks to run in safe mode. I go up to safe mode with networking. It starts, mcafee is disabled, malwarebytes finds nothing, and I try spybot, super anti spyware, spyware blaster and trend micro rubotted. Nothing works and I am stuck in safe mode. I tried to install hijack this, but the safe mode screen is too big to hit the accept button. I unistalled mcafee and am completely lost. I do not have a windows xp disc, or an xp boot disc. Hello there, I have a Vista Home Premium Edition HP computer, and I'm having trouble with installing iTunes/Quicktime on my computer without it crashing the computer or without it not being operable. Now as much as I believe this is just Apple trying to get more people to buy iMacs by making their compatible versions of iTunes/Quicktime incompatible, that's not why I'm here. This x-mas I received an iPhone, and due to Apples flawed system to activate the phone or clever idea to get people hooked into their products, you need iTunes to activate the phone, which is where the problem leads. I need a way to install this applications so I can activate my iPhone, though hopefully I can use the applications after activation because I didn't spend a couple thousand on a PC just for somebody to deny me something I should be able to use. Well if you were amused by my rant and are interested in helping me, thank you. If I somehow offended you, well, sorry.

PROBLEM:
When I log on to do an online search through any of the big search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, AOL), I pull search results and click on one of the results. From there the address bar quickly starts changing through various unknown sites and redirects to web pages that have nothing to do with what I was looking for (yellowpages.com, admarketplace.com, primosearch.com - just to name a few). Occasionally a search result will go to the correct place, but that is only about 5-10% of the time. A couple things that I've seen in the majority of these instances that are similiar - the logo next to the address bar is most often a bluish, grey swirl or a lime green globe. I also have been noticing that about 60-70% of the time one of the redirect addresses that flashes in the address bar has a cs102175.com included in it. Fortunately I have been able to use my Comcast.net search engine without this same result, so that is how I've been able to search for help and find your site, but my whole computer just seems to be bogged down and moving... I can load the game just fine and everything works except for a small glitch in the display. When I move the mouse it leaves a large square trail behind it and distorts the screen turning it black.

Any ideas?

Here is the section of the help file that mentions it:

Robot City is an 8-bit, 256-color application. In order to view

Hello, I have a Sony Vaio laptop and recently whenever I use YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, stream or play audio/visual content anywhere the sound freezes and makes a robot noise constantly.

I am a dummy with computers and technical stuff but from what I have read on the web regarding this matter it could have been something to do with drivers, too much stuff on the hard drive, flash and/or java needing updating etc..

I have done all of these things (I think) and it still hasn't done anything! Could someone plleeassee advise me what I need to do to sort this out.

Also, my fan is very hot and sounds like a vacuum cleaner (I have tried cleaning it, I think I need a new fan) but could this be affecting anything?

Thanks all

edit: I use latest internet explorer, and sometimes chrome but it is the same on both of the browsers, and besides it happens with spotify which is downloaded?

It does sound like something having to do with your sound card drivers. I would go into the device manager which is in the system tab of the control panel and completely uninstall the sound card and any other related components; reboot; then let windows hopefully re-detect and reinstall the sound card and its associated drivers. If you need more info on anything just ask.

A robots.txt file is a short text file that resides in your home directory. Before search engines spider your site, they look into this file to see which files/file types and/or directories they are not allowed to see.

More details at http://buzzycode.com/
The following disallows all search engines and robots from crawling select directories and pages:

User-agent: *

I've never heard of the 'Abuse Team Robot' but i jsut got a message that says, "Our robot has detected an abnormal activity from your IP address..probably connected with last epidemic of a worm which does not have official patches... we recommend you to install 'this patch' to remove worm files and stop e-mail sending. Otherwise your account will be blocked. Abuse Team Robot.

This sounds scary. Most of all, I have no way to verify whether or not it is true. I have not done anything yet. Anyone have any similar experience and advice? Thanks so much. Geranium.

I downloaded a karel j robot java app for eclipse that I can't delete because it is too long. can someone tell me how to force delete the folder.

I downloaded it from

A:force delete karel j robot

Please don't double post (original thread : http://www.techsupportforum.com/f10/...er-183140.html)

If the program had any installation utility then check add/remove programs to see if there's no related entry first.

Try to delete the folder in safe mode : repeatedly press the F8 key when the computer starts and choose safe mode in the menu that will appear.

Else give unlocker a try :

Since my modem has been reset, one of my laptops cannot go anymore to google without having this error message:

404. That's an error.

The requested URL /cgi-bin/cgi?req=twz was not found on this server. That's all we know.

It's bizarre, because I never entered "/cgi-bin/cgi?req=twz" in the adress bar. Just: www.google.ca . I can confirm that this website is working on all other computers in the house.

Am I the only one who has this? How to solve this problem?

Thank you very much!

It seems like a question ripped from the back of a cheap sci-fi novel: What happens when the robots are turned against us?
But researchers at the University of Washington think it's finally time to start paying some serious attention to the question of robot security. Not because they think robots are about to go all Terminator on us, but because the robots can already be used to spy on us and vandalize our homes.

Let's make this short and to-the-point:
- Purchased XPS15 9550 in April 2016
- Upgraded SSD to Samsung 950 Pro 512GB.  RAM is 32GB Crucial DDR4-2666
- Purchased the WD15 and TB15 docks
- I work at a high-tech company, one that designs and works on PCs, laptops, and desktops.  I have a degree in EE.  So I am very very technical.
- OS is Win10 Enterprise x64 with my company's standard IT bundle.
Problems:
1. TB15 does not work.  USB devices will drop after 5 minutes and DP / HDMI will drop a few minutes later.  Tried all the drivers and BIOS updates.  TBT utility will fail to detect the dock even if connected. Updated TBT FW to NVM16.  It is only good for charging the battery.
2.  WD15 partially works.  USB and DP work >80% of the time, but highly disruptive during the work day.  Decided to use it just for charging as well.
3.  Called Dell TS multiple times on the TBT problems above, and had MB replaced twice.  Problems remain.  I've just given up because their TS people have no clue about they product they are supporting, or just were not given any alternate path / options after replacing the MB twice.  I can attribute problems above to Dell's faulty TBT implementation.
4.  Most annoying is the random, robot-voice, mouse/kb slowdown occurring a multiple times an hour.  I hear it when on Lync calls, watching videos, playing music, etc.  I tri... Read more

My problem started one night a few months ago, when watching a film from my pc on to my tv, everything was going ok then it started to freeze for a second or two with the audio sounding like a robot then continue playing ok and would start repeating it every so often, so, i tested all my hard drives with DSKCHK, no problems, did a check with seagate disk test all ok, did a memtest all ok, did a graphics stress test all ok, then one night i was going through some audio tracks and the robot sound appeared on them, so i thought that rules out graphics side, i even swapped from motherboard audio to a soundblaster card and did it on both, i deleted MPC to VLC same on both, i even did a windows xp repair, still happening, i even found a asus motherboard test but nothing on that, all drivers up to date, i recorded on my cycle cam which replicates the problem, and can be found here http://vid1177.photobucket.com/albums/x348/andsaw/PC Audio/23090002.mp4 its at the 40second mark, you will have to turn your volume up high as the cams mic is not brilliant, can anyone identify whats going and how i can sort it, any other info required please ask.
Motherboard Asus P5KC.
Processor Q9300.
Graphics generic Nvidia 9500GT.

I hope this is in the right section.

Hi there

The problem is definitely a software one, because you said you tried another sound card and the problem persists.
The problem is most likely coming from your codecs/filters.

If you have codecs installed, uninstall them and try playing again.
Still not working, uninstall all media players. Re install VLC and try again.

Last ting I can think of is that you download and install XP codec pack.
Just Google it, you will find it.

Hope this helps

Hi.

I have built a web cam robot that you can control from any pc in the world.

I have equipped it with paintball and laser dome weapons and a red dot aim.

http://media.putfile.com/Tank_paintball_1

Do you think it would be interesting to have a Internet game with real webcamrobots in a paintball/laserdome battle and be able to hunt real people with the robot?

--------------------
Scandinavia and north of Europe get a delay/lag around 0.3-0.5 sec.
The rest of the world get a delay/lag around 1-3 sec because they have a satellite link.
Some few people get lucky and don't get a satellite link from USA or Australia and then get a delay/lag around 0.5-1 sec.
I will try to upgrade the web camera robots, so they will be able to compete against real people on a paintball/laserdome arena/field.
--------------------
Regards Magi

Avast takes a look at the hacks from season one of Mr. Robot and explains what businesses can learn from them.

Season one of last summer?s hit new TV show, Mr. Robot, was filled with interesting and, for the most part, accurately portrayed hacks. The hacks were carried out by the show?s main character Elliot and hacker group fsociety. Their goal throughout the season was to take down the multi-national conglomerate, E Corp.

Although the hacks on the show were rather complex and to a certain extent elaborate, there are a few things SMBs can learn from them.

If anybody culd help me that would be greatly appreciated it is a Dell inspirion  15-3552 Thank you

A:finding internet

If your WiFi card supports 802.11ac, it automatically supports 5 GHz since that is required by the 802.11ac spec.  If it only supports 802.11n, then it may or may not support 5 GHz.  In that case, open Device Manager, expand the Network Adapters category, and look for the name of your WiFi adapter.  Post it here and we can tell you whether it supports 5 GHz, or if you just Google the name of that adapter yourself, you might find a page listing the specs of that card that will tell you whether it supports 5 GHz.

After totally reinstalling my Windows XP, and after getting through the initial setup, I came across the regular start-up screen with a few problems:
1) There are no icons on the desktop that were present with the initial, out-of-the-box start-up. If I'm not mistaken, this can be remedied by reinstalling all the drivers, applications, etc. with the discs that came with the computer.

2) The screen resolution is set at the lowest point, and after following the directions to change it, I when I come to the 'display properties' menu on the desktop, and then going to settings menu, I cannot change the resolution, the color quality, or the display, which is set at default with no other options.

3) The computer fails to recognize the broadband connection (DSL), which is plugged in. After doing a 'find internet connection' routine, it fails to recognize any connection.

What can I do?

here are the minimum/max specs for this game
**************************************************
Max Supported Color Depth: 8-bit (256 colors); SVGA graphics(256 colors with 640*480 resolution)
Min Operating System: Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later
Min Processor Type: Intel 486 or higher 25 MHz
Min RAM Size: 8 MB

I got a 633 celeron with 256+mb RAM, onboard video--Intel(R) 82810 Graphics Controller and i have XP pro.
***************************************************

I think that the likely problem is the graphics controller, as in display properties under settings all i can select for color quality is either 16bit or 24bit.

I tried to run it by selecting *run in compatibility with Windows95 *run in 256 colors * run in 640*480 screen resolution. but NO luck. i get two black screens and then it quits right back to desktop. is it even possible to run this game on my comp? if yes, what is the problem?????

A curious add-on called "Looking Glass" started popping up on Firefox for a number of users this past week -- even if they didn't give the browser permission to install it. Due to its nebulous nature and creepy description that only said "MY REALITY IS JUST DIFFERENT FROM YOURS," people took to social networks to ask other users and air their concerns. Turns out Looking Glass isn't spamware, malware or any of the sort: it's a promotional campaign for Mr. Robot, a TV series about the life of a cybersecurity-engineer-slash-hacker.

You said the issue fixes itself on reboot. So what software and applications are you running and how long is your usage before the audio issue shows up again?
