Well, just yesterday I discovered all my windows application thumbnails were replaced by the default windows application thumbnails. Applications like Hearts, Windows Media Player, Real Player, Notepad, Calculator have all been affected.

My spybot S&D has, since 2 hours ago, got on maniac mode blocking all the registry changes on my blacklist. Here's a screenshot:
http://67.18.37.14/23/128/upload/p1996620.gif

I have been using Adaware Pro and Spybot S&D. Did two full scans; Adaware came out null and S&D came out with CoolWWWsearch.WCADW, CoolWWWsearch and Nat.
Here's a screenshot: http://67.18.37.14/23/128/upload/p1996621.gif
Here's my list of running applications: http://67.18.37.14/23/128/upload/p1996619.jpg

Any help is greatly, greatly appreciated. =)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Guys,

I find this to be quite embarrassing, having an issue like this that I can't figure out.

Here's what I can't do.

1. Ping DG (Default Gateway)
2. Ping my IP (96.46.29.108)
3. Can't access my router via remote, even though its setup to allow it.

What I can do.

1. Access any web page.
2. Ping any website but my own IP/DG.
3. Play games & use the internet like usual.

I've forwarded the ports I use, and allowed all the programs to roll through the Firewall without issues. I'm not sure if my ICMP was disabled on my router, my family currently shut down my computer, so I can't remote in, and work on it.

I installed TeamViewer because LogMeIn isn't going to accept any "Free" connections anymore, and will require a paid subscription. I've got an older version of RealVNC installed, but I couldn't remember my serial key.

Sincerely,
Thomas

A:Ping DG, ftp block/httpd block

Is this from a remote location or from within the local LAN of the router? If remote, when you mean Default Gateway, is that the remote router you are trying to access or the default gateway used to access the internet?

Have you checked that the public IP address is current? Unless you have paid for a static IP address it is very possible for a different one to be assigned via DHCP by the ISP.

My mum's been using the Internet for the first time. I set up a seperate account on XP for her and explained what to do - she's definitely been getting the hang of it. One problem:

A "pop-up blocked" notification for Pop-Up Stopper came on and she says she's not sure what she pressed (she tried to close it, obviously not sucessfully) because now when she tries to open IE it treats it just like a pop-up and displays the red circle icon and won't open!

It's a different instance of Pop-Up Stopper on my account and I have no problems.

Any advice?

Hello all
I have been referred to this forum by Terrynet (Moderator?)
I am running XP with SP2 on one computer and this is networked to a computer running ME facilitated by ethernet cards in both computer, a crossover cable and a broadband Speedtouch 330 modem. There is Norton AV and firewall on the XP computer and the ME computer is configured to run via the Norton Firewall (Windows Firewall is disabled). There is no AV software on the ME computer as it is used for internet only (but I will install some if I get this problem fixed.

When I boot up the XP computerthe network is fine:

Windows IP Configuration

Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Mixed
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes

Howeverafter about 10 minutes the network fails, the ME computer won't access anything on the internet although the XP computer remains able to access the internet/mail, and the "IP Routing Enabled" part of the is changed to "No" after a further ipconfig /all scan.
If I reboot the XP computer the network is OK again for 10 minutes, after which it fails again.
Terrynet suggested that I do a hijackthis scan which is underneath and post it to this forum to try and determine what is switching the IP Routing Enabled to NO.

Hello! Hello! Hello!
It's been years since I've actually posted here but now I need some help.

I recently had to replace my PSU on my ZT desktop ... which I researched how to do in these forums. Success!
Unfortunately, I started my research after I had already restarted my computer many, many times ... which I later learned can cause further damage to other components in my computer.
I had read somewhere here about checking the Event Viewer ... which I did before replacing the PSU.
I didn't understand all that was in mine, but I jotted down a couple things. One that had reoccurred several times was
Event ID: 7 Source: Disk \Harddisk2\DR2, has a bad block.

Anyway, after I installed the new "identical" PSU, everything seemed to be fine. But, that "bad block" thing kept bugging me. After learning what I could about it here, I decided I needed to do something.
Seeing as everything seemed to be working fine' I decided to do an "image" backup thing. I've had a ClickFree C6 for months and finally ran the full system image/backup thing last night.
At the end, the ClickFree indicated it was successful. So I unplugged the ClickFree and tried to shut down the computer.
It started to shut down ... then I got a black and white screen filled with a bunch of info. It was late and there was no way I could remember everything I read or even try to write it down.

The one thing I somewhat remember was something about doing a Cr... Read more

While in the process of re-installing Encarta 2004 Reference Library Plus (DVD), I received the following message from SPY SWEEPER:

A BHO (Browser Helper Object) is being installed in Internet.

EROPROJ.DLL is being installed as a browser add-on.

If you are installing an Internet Explorer toolbar, you may want to allow installation of this browser add-on.

This message appeared when the Installation Status was writing system registry values, if that means anything.

I figure it's probably okay to allow this file, but I'm always leery of messages I don't understand. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who understands why this message popped up. Thank you.

A:Solved: Should I allow or block EROPROJ.DLL ???

If it is occurring while it is installing something, it is probably safe as you are more than likely simply writing a registry value to encarta from internet explorer. You may not see it as this may only concern the system but it is still harmless as it is most likely simply an encarta dll. See no harm in allowing it.

SYSTEM: P3 - clone Win2K O/S SP2 on system.
ROUTER: Linksys BEFSX41 v3

My issue:I have to block two ip addresses 1 XP PC and 1 WIN2K PC from the internet. It use to work until one day the WIN2K pc stopped working. For some reason it just doesn't block it anymore !! What is even crazier is the fact if I log in as ADMINISTRATOR on that pc I still can not access the internet, but if I go in as a normal user... I can go on the net.

I'm on a network with SERVER 2000 and 6 PC's
The DNS range (from the router) is from 192.168.1.100 to 150...

The IP address of the XP machine that still remains blocked is: 192.168.1.22
WIN2K pc was 192.168.1.25 and change it to 192.168.1.125 just to make it within the range. Didn't work.

Can I block the WIN2K pc from accessing the net with the admin tools from the server 2000 ? or do you have any tips that I can try from the router side. Please remember it did work. All I do is windows update and norton update. Just one day it stoped working.

Thanks for your time

Hi,

I like to try all kinds of new software. I usually don't end up buying it because it's to expensive for me so I just install it for evaluation.

The problem is that now all software "calls home" and track my use of it. I don't like this. So I disconnect from the internet by unplugging my network cable while installing or using this software.

But this is inconvenient. I would like a more convenient solution. In my search I came across a box called "The Internet Switch" that supposedly does this but it's bulky and doesn't work anyway when I am on WiFi.

Do you know of a program or piece of software that does what I want?

Please don't ask me to do this through my Windows firewall because it's useless for this purpose. First, the spy on me just like that software that I try. Second, most of the evaluation software knows how to workaround those personal firewalls. I need something that really works.

Do you know of a program or piece of software that does what I want?

Thanks.

A:Solved: Block internet access

You could try Sandboxie to run programs in isolation.

I disagree that software firewalls are useless for your purposes; about all that they are good for is preventing outgoing communications by unauthorised programs; the incoming stuff should be left to a hardware firewall/router. I recommend Comodo Personal Firewall (now part of Comodo Internet Security but installable individually) this also includes defense+ which monitors what applications try to do locally in terms of communicating with other applications in a possibly unsafe/unauthorsied manner.

If you're really worried, download microsoft virtual PC and test out all your programs in a virtual environment.

Basically, I was tinkering around with the router, (I know, I am an idiot) and decided to set a couple of blocks up for the fun of it. (Hey sister! Try and get onto google! Heh heh)

I managed to block my own PC....

Is there anyway to get aorund the block? It won't even let me get to the router screen.

I've tried spoofing my MAC address (Not sure if it actually worked), and have manually changed the IP address.

I'm using Vista, but the other PC's in the house (All of them are blocked...) are on XP, and one is a new iMac

Any ideas? I kind of need it for my work and stuff.

A:Solved: Router Block problem

If all else fails, reset the router to factory defaults. There should be a button on the back of the router that says reset. You either just hold it down for a few seconds and when you see the router reboot, let go of the button. Or, you pull the power, push the reset button in, then power up the router, and let go of the button after a few seconds when you see the router reboot itself again.

I ran Spybot and AdAware (But of course! ) and found nothing of concern.

Hey, I've been here before. I know the drill. Here it is:

A:Solved: Yes, here's another block-checker post

I'm not sure what happened, but it appears that pandasoftware updated its program after I did the scan this morning. After emptying the temp files, I installed the new scan (after a slight bit of trouble), rescanned, and found nothing. The block-checker entry is gone.

I'm not about to question fate, so I'm marking this solved. I would sugggest that if you got this block-checker registry entry from pandascan, and you didn't install block-checker and don't use messenger services, you might want to rescan with the new pandascan update. It may work, it may not, but I don't see the harm in it, unless a mod here does (in which case, don't listen to me!).

I've hd a good look around my pc today after leaving it in my daughters hands for a week and have found a few problems which have left me clueless!

When I acces the Computer Management it comes up with a "plug in failed to initalize" error every time.

My slave drive which has been fine for 2 years is now telling me it has not been formatted.

In the event viewer it is coming up with a The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D has a bad block error every 60 seconds.

I have also noticed that my master is on location 1 and the slave is on location 0 in the disk properties but seem to be in the right location when looking at disk management page???

I have run seatools in dos mode which did find and repair errors during the long test but this does not seem to have fixed the problem.

My main drive is a maxtor 6Y080L0 and my slave is a samsung SP1654N
Dell Dimensions 4600
2.8g processor
512mb ram
I'm not sure what other info you'll need to help me with any of these issues and I need guidance all the way so please be patient and gentle with me

Hi all,

Well, I've got a strange issue that started yesterday (possibly two days ago). I was watching tv shows on TV Shows, Movies and Music Videos - Viki.com when it suddenly stopped loading. I assumed it was a site issue since all other websites I visited loaded fine. Yesterday, I tried to load up Valve and it wouldn't load. Neither would viki.com.

I visit these sites almost everyday and never encountered an issue like this. I don't remember messing around with settings on anything. I haven't downloaded any new programs.

I run Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with Service Pack 1. I've tried both IE and Firefox.

Anyone have a clue as to why this might be happening?

I've heard that MSN is pushing IE8 as an automatic update - can I block that particular update? I've set my Windows Update to "notify don't download/install" for now until I know what to do. I have heard so many people have had problems with IE8.

I NEVER use Internet Explorer, only Firefox, so when I was checking on this problem the other day I opened IE for the first time in a year and saw that it's still IE6. Is this dangerous to still have on my system even though I never use it? Should I at least update to IE7 ?

I have an old Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop Win XP SP3 only 20G HD and 512Mb RAM so resources are a priority. I use FF w/NoScript, ABP, WinPatrol, Avast AV, MBAM, SAS, WOT so think I'm pretty safe security-wise.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi!
I under how I block the explorer(file manager or what I should call it, I mean just the "my computer" window not the whole explorer.exe) , on a account? And make it "blocked" every time I start the computer on that account. The reason is that I don't want to let the people on that account do anything else than play games so actually I want a program or anything that I can start on that account which blocks all the "my computer" and administrative stuff and only let the people on that account play games. Although I do want a administrator account also but with password.

So my question is ether a program which can block all stuff besides the games or to find a way to block the "my computer" explorer.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi! Well, I finally have my upstairs and downstairs computers wirelessly connected and networked. Now I can't seem to download anything with my new computer, the one that's wirelessly linked with the one upstairs.
Aargh!
I'm trying to set up Firefox with all its pluggins, etc., and when I click "download now" or "begin download"for a pluggin like JAVA or Adobe Reader, nothing happens. Nothing.
So, I think somewhere there's a check box for "enable downloads", but I can't find it. I'm running Windows XP Media Center with SP2.
Does anyone have an idea where the glitch is?
Thanks so much.

I'm using a computer on a school network, and I know they can actively spy on you at anytime to see what you are doing. Now I've never broken any of the rules the 4 years that ive been here, and i usually just use the computers to browse the web. but schools out in 2 weeks and before it's out i wanted to play some counter strike on the LAN with some friends. If I get caught, which the only way to get caught is if they spy on your computer, they ban you from the computers for the rest of the year.
Does anybody know how to prevent them from spying on you through the network?

Those security measures are in place for a reason. If you want to play games you should not use school district property to do it.
