I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If yes, what happend and when for it to stop working as expected ? - What is your operating system used ?- Do you have network device drivers installed ?- Do you use any 3rd party security application (with firewall capability) ?  Looking forward to your reply.

Hello

I encountered a problem with my internet connection and I believe it may have to do with DNS. I can't access the internet at all on my laptop, neither Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Firefox work. I ran a diagnostics test and received this message: "The remore device or resource won't accept the connection." More details state that "the device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not set up to accept connections on port 'The World Wide Web service (HTTP).' I've searched through many forums and tried countless possible solutions:

Resetting my computer
Power cycling the modem
Resetting Internet browser settings
Flushing the DNS via cmd
Releasing and renewing the IP address (Note: cmd is unable to renew the IP because it fails to connect to the DHCP server)
Disabling Windows Firewall
Checking for proxy settings that may be checked

I'm using a wired connection that goes directly to the modem, no router. An interesting thing to note is that I am able to connect to the internet via mobile hotspot on my Android phone. I've already contacted my ISP (Comcast) and they believe it's a computer related issue but through my trials, this doesn't seem to be the case. It looks like a DNS issue.

I'm using a TP link extender with an Ethernet cable plugged into my computer. I also have from the TP link extender, a "5G" Network of my own network, which I can connect to using a mac, iphone ipad or xbox one. However, other members of my family can connect to the standard non 5G internet fine and work for them. Everyone else seems to be able to connect to the internet, but my computer, any help would be greatly appreciated!

My desktop computer with Windows 7 started giving me this message about a month ago, and I could not get internet access. I used my cell phone to google the issue. I tried all of the recommended fixes (checking proxy settings, etc) but it still did not work. I did a system restore and got back on the internet, BUT, it continues to happen again every day or so, and again I have to do a system restore. Could anyone tell me WHY this is happening and how to fix the problem? Thanks.

Would appreciate some help restoring Internet connection.

Did an install of Windows 7, and, at first, had Internet access. Installed an AV (Panda), MBAM, Windows Updates, and also tried to upgrade IE8 to IE11. Have no clue what borked the connection.

Keep getting:
"The remote device or resource won't accept the connection."
"Connection with server cannot be established."

In Device Manager there was a Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface with a yellow flag. I removed it and restarted, but, it was not there after the reboot, so, it did not re-install.

Thanks for your help.

Marie have you run the Network Connection Troubleshooter?

Did you install the wireless driver from the PC maker's Support Downloads webpage?

Can you plug in by ethernet cable to download that driver and install? In addition Check for Updates to install any other Important or Optional Updates, as other drivers or patches may be needed for this.

A search for the error here suggests resetting IE and also says spyware may be involved.

If you want I can connect via TeamViewer to go over and and finish setting up the install for you. Install at all defaults and PM to me the ID and pw. I am here til midnight PST tonight and all day tomorrow.

Well I'm on Windows 8 and my computer has been running fine until yesterday. Randomly at around 8:00, my internet shut itself and it wouldn't work. I tried resetting the router and such but nothing worked. My computer can connect to the internet connection,
but when I boot up Google Chrome it will not work. So I did some troubleshooting and eventually it said this "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection". And it's not only my internet browser that won't work. Other apps like Skype
won't connect either. After looking at another thread, I tried resetting the settings on Internet Explorer and changing the Proxy thing but nothing worked. Someone also suggested downloading Hitman, but that was stupid considering I couldn't even connect to
the internet. I had Windows Defender scan my computer and it said there was nothing wrong. So I'm not sure what is up. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

A:Cannot connect to Internet. "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection"

Make sure other device connected to your internet don't have similar issue
is there any changes before this issue happen? install, reinstall, windows update, HW changes, router setting or environment changes
just try at safe mode with networking, if its fine at safe mode with networking, than something to do with 3rd party software, antivirus, firewall ect. Try to restore your PC using restore point
if this issue also persist at safe mode, its considering driver or hardware failure (try to update driver, reinstall or run basic TS regarding WLan issue)

Hi all,
Back again with another Windows 8 problem My Dad's HP computer with Windows 8 was all working fine up until yesterday, but now for some reason, it can't access the Internet, even though it is connected (my laptop is connected to the same network and can access the net with no issues). I tried running a troubleshooter and I got a message saying "Remote device or resource won't accept the connection" though it didn't offer any solutions. I have tried resetting both the computer and the router and it has not made a difference. He has Kaspersky anti-virus and to my knowledge, has not installed/uninstalled any software recently, so I can't think of anything that would have caused it.

The only thing I could think of was that maybe the cable running from my router, through the roof to their computer in the other room may have somehow failed or become damaged, but in that case I would have thought it wouldn't be able to find the network at all (it still says it is connected to the Internet). Since testing this would involve climbing up into the roof etc and both I and my old man have dicky knees, I was hoping someone might have suggestions for what could be causing the problem, or how I might be able to fix it with (relative) ease. Thanks in advance

(P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong section or has already been answered, if this is the case, please just point me in the right direction)

A:"Remote device or resource won't accept the connection"

hmm I messed around on the computer for a while and for some reason the internet is now working perfectly. It seems that somehow sharing between networks had been turned off, and once I fiddled with that, it was up and running again.

Hello and thanks for reading,

I have the oddest problem here at work. I have a brand new Latitude E5530 that would not connect to the internet, but would connect to our LAN. We had the motherboard replaced by Dell, but a few weeks later, while a download of the free AVG anti-virus program was being installed, the same thing happened again where we could not connect to the WAN, but the LAN was fine.

I formatted the HDD, reinstalled the OS (7, Pro, 32bit), installed all the factory drivers and still the same thing.

This only happens when I'm at work. We have multiple laptops of the same make/model/OS that are working perfectly, but not this one (at least not for long)

One thing that does allow me to connect to the WAN. I have a LinkSys USB Ethernet Adapter. There is no Windows 7 driver for this, so I've used the Vista 32 bit driver when installing the software and I can connect no problem.

I've also had one other computer give me fits about accessing the WAN at my job. This unit (I believe it's a Dell optiplex 780) had XP installed and would occasionally lose WAN connection, but a reboot would take care of the problem. The problem grew to where more reboots were necessary until one day nothing could be done to connect to the WAN (once again, the LAN connection was fine). I ended up replacing that computer. Recently however, that computer also was having problems connecting to the WAN, even after removing/reinstalling the NIC driver. I used another of the LinkSy... Read more

i shutdown the firewall, the antivirus, and lowered internet security in windows, but i never managed to make it work!

apart from that, every p2p program works perfectly, so i'm a bit confused...

A:XP doesn't accept incoming connection, Help!

Do you have a DSL router with a firewall on it? Do you know what port is being used when you're trying to act as a server? If so, have your friend try to telnet to that port. You can also try locally telnetting to that port. If he can't, then the port is being blocked for some reason. If you can't, then there may be something else going on. If you're able to change the port, try that.

Remote Desktop Connection wants the IP or name of the remote computer to connect to. But suppose the remote computer is behind a router. The router has one WAN IP, say 192.45.63.98, which will be the same for all the computers connected off of that router, (when you google "my ip" from any of them) and then each computer connected off of the router will have a LAN IP, something like 10.0.0.6. So if I want to help the person connected to the 10.0.0.6 computer (and not the person connected at 10.0.0.9) off of this router what do I tell Remote Desktop Connection at my computer to reach them?

Hi. I just viewed Kari Finn's clearly explained Remote Desktop Connection on Win10 and how to connect to remote computer, thank you for that. Good job! In my case though, I use Win XP Home edition. Do I have to have Win XP Pro edition to connect on RDC to Win 10 host using Hyper-V virtual creation?
Also, if that is the case, how can I reboot my remote computer XP OS and get onto the Start Up Menu page? The keyboard command is released to my Win 10 host computer on start up and I don't have access to keyboard commands (such as F8) until Win XP has been fully booted up. How do I access that Start Up menu page otherwise?
This would be helpful for me to know. Thanks.

A:Remote Desktop Connection Explained - Question remote XP?

Hi Hibs, welcome to the Ten Forums.

You simply cannot use Windows XP Home as remote host, meaning you cannot connect to it using the Remote Desktop Connection. There are some hacks around the Internet but I very strongly advice against them.

(From Remote Desktop: frequently asked questions)
A workaround, in case you have or can find a valid Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate license is to install Windows 7 on a Hyper-V virtual machine, then install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode on that virtual machine. Works perfectly giving you Windows XP Pro SP3.

If the mouse and keyboard are released by the Windows XP vm back to host, you simply need to bring the pointer on the vm and click to get them back to vm. The F8 keyboard shortcut when booting XP up works then totally normally bringing up the advanced options boot menu:

To release the mouse and keyboard back to host, press CTRL + ALT + LEFT ARROW.

I have a laptop that's fairly new. It's an HP Pavilion dv6 with an AMD Turioin II P520 dual-core processor that's 2.30 Ghz and it's running Windows 7 Home Premium, the 64-bit version.

I have two computers I'd like to control using my laptop: A Gateway GT5692 running an AMD Phenom 8450 Triple-Core Processor 2.10 GHz that's got the 64-bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium and a HP SR501P with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor 4200+ 2.20 GHz running the 32-bit version of Windows Vista Home Basic.

All are tied to a router. The laptop runs wireless and the two desktops have a wired lan. All connect to the internet through the router tied to a DSL modem.

I can control the computers using Windows Remote Assistance but not with Windows Remote Desktop connection. What's up with that? http://b.tsgstatic.com/smilies/frown.gif

And when I bring up system properties on my laptop, it has the “Remote Assistance” dialog but not the dialog for “Remote Desktop”. I viewed this on another computer with a video titled “Accessing another computer with Remote Desktop Connection”. On that video, it has the dialog for “Remote Desktop” viewable 50 seconds from the front of the video. I've noticed that this computer's system is “Windows 7 Ultimate” while I'm stuck ... Read more

Mod Edit: bloomcounty's previous topic, has been merged with this one, as per his request, in post #6. ~tgHi, I use Zone Alarm free version 7.0.302 and have been for months. But for the first time today, as soon as I dialed-up to the internet just now (though I had been connected multiple times previously today with no warning coming up), I got this message:LSA Shell (Export Version) wants to accept connections from the Internet.Application: lsass.exeSource IP: 12.14.170.15: Port 500This is the program's first attempt to access the Internet.I clicked on DENY and then immediately opened up ZA and checked the Program Control, and LSA Shell (Export Version) had been added to the list with both Access-Trusted and Access-Internet checked with green checkmark (even though I clicked DENY)! I immediate changed them check marks to ASK (question marks). There were question marks already in the columns for Server-Trusted and Server-Internet. 1. What exactly has happened here? What has this popped up now? I did not change any settings or anything...2. Is this someone trying to connect to my computer all of a sudden?3. Should I remove LSA Shell (Export Version) all together from my Program Control list in ZA?4. Could this imply that I've got something "bad" on my computer?5. Is there anything else I should do/check to make sure something bad isn't going on? Seems like something always pops up just when I'm done worrying about something else with my compu... Read more

A:Za Alert "lsa Shell (export Version) Wants To Accept Connection

A bit more...There were a number of these entries in my ZA log:Type: FirewallProtocol: ICMP (type:3/subtype:2)Source IP: <I believe this would be mine>Destination IP: 12.14.170.15Direction: OutgoingActon Taken: BlockedCount: 8 (18, 31, 15, 18, 12, 22, 12 -- those are all the different occurances while I was on-line)It doesn't look like I've had any more of these since disconnecting from the internet and then logging back on.I have never had an Outgoing log message before...Note: I have dial-up.6. Should I have immediately disconnected from the internet and then logged back on? I don't recall if I checked my email or logged onto anything password-sensitive, etc. while still connected to the internet when that happened. I'm pretty sure I updated my AVG to the newest program version while I was still connected that time. Does any of that matter? Thanks again!

Hi,

i've recently encountered an incredibly frustrating problem with a customers pc running Windows 7 64 bit.

IE is exhibiting a very strange behaviour, in that it won't let me connect to any site using the https protocol; the browser is showing the usual security error page displayed when a certificate is expired, revoked or self-signed, but without the option to proceed anyway.

I suspect this is due to a malware i can't seem to find.

I've tried running the following programs:
Malwarebytes
Hitman Pro
Microsoft removal tool
OTL
Hijackthis
Process explorer
Autoruns
Roguekiller
Adwcleaner
Eset online scanner (i stopped the scan before it could finish as it was taking too long and the user had to use the computer)

They found and removed several threats but the problem still persist

Let me know if i should rerun some of them and post the resulting logs here, attached you can find the log generated by otl quick scan .

Thanks in advance

Best regards

I've recently installed wireless at home and run 2 pc's on it, accessing the web via Comcast broadband. All works well when accessing my office PC via XP's 'Remote access web connection'. I can transfer files between office & home and print to machines that are configured on the host (office) to LPT & COM ports.
Last week I replaced my ageing Epson C80 home printer with a new HP Deskjet 5850 wireless printer. It works great and I can print from my 2 home pc's via wireless.
What I can't figure out is how to configure it on my office host pc so that it can see it via RAWC. I've tried adding a port with the printers IP Address but that doesn't work. Have also tried HP's web sights as well as Wxp's but I guess the wireless printer is too new. Any ideas anyone ?

I Have Recently Updated Xp With First Sp2 And Then Sp3. Now I Cannot Create A Dialup Connection.
When I Go To Wizard For New Conenction Only Broadband Option Is Selectable And The Other 2 Are Greyed Out.
The Modem Is Working Fine.
I Doubt This May Be Because Of Service Packs I Have Installed.
The Remote Access Connection Manager Service Couldn't Be Started ( Error 126 : The Specified Module Could Not Be Found )
Other Depending Services Like Telephony Are Running.
I Have Tried Deleting The 25,26 Registry Keys.
Also Deleted The Telephony Registry Key And Restarted But Still No Use.
I Have Also Tried After Uninstalling Sp3 But The Same Problem.
I Am Currently Using Broadband Connection.
But I Need Dialup Connection Too.

Help Needed Desperately.

After repairing my Windows XP installatation I am no longer able to set up my internet connection either manually or via the connection wizard. It appears that the Remote Access Connection Manager (Rasman)within administrative tools is stopped. When I try to start this I am "denied access" (errror 5). I've located the svchost.exe that Rasman points to in Windows/system32 and confirmed in properties that I should have full control of this service. Any ideas?

I have been searching endlessly for this issue. Every time I try to connect to a VPN connection I get the error above. Thank you for any relevant input concerning this matter. My NIC is Qualcomm Atheros and I'm in Win8.1 x64.

A:VPN ERROR 619 :: A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed

everything normal before?
is there any changes before this issue happen?
turn off your antivirus and firewall, update the latest VPN client software, if still not working go to security settings and change the VPN type automatic to PPTP. And also change data encryption configuration to Optional and select CHAP & MS-CHAP v2.
If still not working try with other internet connection and try to contact your VPN provider

Hi,
Since updating to Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit (latest version), in File Explorer listed under Computer I see my other PC's but I no longer see devices like my Synology NAS etc. All PC's and devices are connected using ethernet cables via switches.

The devices still appear in File Explorer on my other Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit (latest version) PC under Computer so the problem seems to be on the first PC rather than my Asus router.

I just tried putting the name of the devices (\\diskstation etc) in the address bar of File Explorer and with one of the devices I got error 0x80004005 so I ran the trouble shooter and got this error:-

Problem found
The remote device or resource won't accept the connection               Detected            !
Detailed Information
The device or resource (FOXSAT-HDR) is not set up to accept connections on port "The File and printer sharing (SMB)".

I've tried disabling AVG virus software, Windows Firewall and my Asus Router firewall but it makes no difference
sfc /scannow was OK

The Network Adapter has had the latest driver installed.
I've hunted high and low for a solution, I went through this thread very closely ( https://tinyurl.com/p9gk9sn ) but still no solution ... HELP

Regards
Barry

Hello,
I am facing an issue while attempting Remote Desktop Connection from Windows 7 Professional machine.
When trying to take an RDP of a Windows 2016 Server using "MSTSC - Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection" I get an error " This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner
of the remote computer or your network administrator."
However, when I select the "Connect and don't warn me" option in the advanced section of Server Authentication Tab (MSTSC), it connects.
Can anyone please guide me to resolve this problem ? Do I need to make changes at the server end or the Desktop level ?
The version of Remote Desktop Connection I am using is "Shell Version 6.2.9200, Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0 Supported"
Thanks,
Swapnil.

I just got a new laptop and usually connected through a wireless connection. I have recently started using remote desktop connection. I have connected twice successfully. Both times it was when I was connected through a Cad-5. Once at a friends house and another at my families place. I have never connected while the laptop has been wireless. Do I need to do something different to connect remotely when I am using the laptop wirelesslly?

A:Remote Desktop Connection With Wireless Connection

Nope.
Cat-5 or Wireless is still a LAN, and the RDP(RDC) does not see it as any different, it may just be a little slower.
