Lenovo yoga c930 speakers problem and noisy fan

Q: Lenovo yoga c930 speakers problem and noisy fan

There is a reverberating sound when the sound of the speakers is incresed. Very frsustrating since the speakers were one of Lenovo's unique selling propositions for this laptop.Another problem is the noisy fan which seems to work non-stop although no other program is working besides the browser and the bottom is quite hot. Nothing like the reviews I have watched.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Having used this for a few weeks, the speakers had always been quite loud. But not sure why suddenly they have become quiet soft, despite being on 100% max volume (with or without Dolby Atmos). Checked all the usual windows settings, everything is on 100%.  Any suggestions?  Speaker drivers: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 21/06/2018 6.0.1.8472

Hi all, I have a brand-new C930 here. It is an exchange and I know for a fact that the previous one didn't have any of these issues. This is pretty much out of the box, the only thing I did was install Intel's updated BT driver. The reason I did it was that the WiFi speed was way too low and I suspected interference with BT. After installing the driver, the issue went away immediately. Now, onto what's happening. 1. When starting or waking up from prolonged sleep, after logging in, when the system loads, the speakers produce a series of pops, sometimes five, sometimes four. I can record it, if needed. I know for a fact that the sound comes from the speakers, because when muted none of this happens. The unit came with Alexa installed for some reason (the previous one didn't have it), so I removed it -- no difference. 2. The fan runs pretty much nonstop without any CPU or GPU load. I loaded BIOS defaults -- no result. here's some info:  Device make:YOGA C93013IKB Product Number:81C4 BIOS:8GCN30WW I am well within my two weeks to return to BestBuy, but if we can fix this, I'll be happy to keep it. Please help. Thanks!

i just bought the new c930 (not yoga book but the yoga c930 ) and i installed all upadtes etc but i have not been getting the battery i expected. when i scroll my mouse to the battery bar, it constantly shows around 6-7 hours on full charge. all i am doing is web browsing. Is this normal? i expected to get around 9-10 hours for the web browsing. Also keep in mind i am on better performance so not the best performance or anything. Ya if i lower the performance even more i might be able to get a little more but i dont think thats normal. I dont have the 4k version either just the regular. If this is expected then fine but i am not sure.

I received this laptop as a replacememt of my defective yoga 720 the 18 October. After somw days of usage I can finally say that I ve got scammed by Lenovo, who sent me a testing unit with so mant problems! - Wacom pen and touch issues (such as ghosting and deas zones)- TouchPad gets disabled and became uselsss until next reboot. It also feels weird and it is kinda loose and imprecise! -KeyBoard acts weird and there is a noticeable input lag that I just can't stand since I am a programmer. -Hibernation/suspend/who knows who causes the impossibility to Wake up my laptop from sleep. When it happens I can only hard shut it down. - I've found some strange stats in the battery report that makes me think that I've received a testing unit with all of these malfunctionnality. My EMEA casw manager does no longee respond to my emails and I am willing to sens back this laptop and receive a refund or a new replacememt ( BUT NO MORE IDEAPAD LAPTOPS). If someone is contact with Lenovo I can send my case number. This is just unfair. Can't trust this Company. Check my YouTube Channel for the linked problems : https://youtu.be/5_daR-j7CQ8

Hey folks, I got the Yoga c930 and so far I'm loving it, save one issue--my shift key feels kind of loose (but sticky) and makes a different noise if you accidently hit it the wrong way.  Since it's not a pc-breaking issue, I don't want to have to send it in unless something else goes wrong, but I was wondering if anyone has tried any DIY maintenance on Yoga Keyboards.  I'm worried I might break a clip since even though their are videos for the Yoga 710 on YT, I don't know if they switched up the mechanism for this generation.  It sitll registers the click, so functionally--no issue, but it feels like a defective key that could just completely break out of the blue.

Good day, I just received the Lenovo Yoga C930 and the pen doesn't work. The laptop does't recognize it and there is no way (app or settings menu) to install it, syncronize it or try it. Microsoft Windows 10 pen settings is for the surface pen and the Lenovo Pen settings is for the Lenovo Pen with the top bottom. Nothing for the fancy new pen that is stored in the laptop (not even in the product guide - way to go Lenovo!).  I have been trying to call several times Lenovo technical support and the dial menu is horrible. I haven't been able to reach a technical support representative for the Lenovo Yoga C930. This is the worst service per purchased item prize I have received in my life.  I really hope that someone can help me. This purchase was supposed to be a good experience and so far it is just pathetic.

Hi, after purchasing my Lenovo Yoga C930 in November 2018 it worked completely fine until 4 days ago. At some point, I started noticing some slight flickers in the form of very thin lines that would span over the whole screen width. I then updated the Graphics Card drivers which solved the problem for two days, then it came back. Since yesterday, there are now some hug screen flickers (similar to this, but a bit less bad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SIHJYWsFCI ), which are increased if the laptop is on battery mode as opposed to when it is plugged in. I tried to see if there was a difference between the different power modes in battery mode, but it doesn't seem to be the case. All the drivers are up-to-date and I am very dependent on my computer for work, so I would rather not send it in if I can avoid it in any way. Has anyone had this issue with a C930 and managed to get rid of it? System information:Windows 10Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @1.8GHz 1.00GHz16GB of RAM Thanks in advance for useful feedback!Cheers,Julia

Hello, I've problems with the Wifi card. From time to time the wifi card is not recognized correctly and it gets the yellow exclamation mark in the device manager and says the device could not be started. I tried the latest driver of Lenovo website and the latest of Intel website. Same problem. If it hppens I have to reinstall the driver and reboot multiple times and plug in and out the power (I didn't find a proper way to fix it) and suddenly it is working again for some days. I suppose Energy saving/hibernating problems but I'm not sure. I'm just afraid that my new device is having a hardware defect ;-( Does anyone else have similar issues?Any idea how to fix it? Thanks in advance,Michael

Are you talking about calling Lenovo for warranty problems, or this forum?  If calling, "Think" products are handled separately, but X1C and X1 Yoga should be the same as each other.  If this forum, you are most likely to get the most help on products that are most widely distributed.

I saw there are also Yoga 910 owners who posted on Reddit and other sites with the same issue. Lenovo: WILL YOU FIX THIS PROBLEM OR NOT? IF you fix it.. I will keep the laptop..but if not I'm gonna have to return it to the store. So please let people know. The fan is TOO loud. Even doing small tasks like a few browser tabs open.. or a Skype call causes the fan to kick in and VERY NOISY. Everytime I restart the computer, etc. the fan is TOO NOISY. Hoope to read your reply soon.

There's been times where the screen just shuts off, and I need to close and open the laptop again to get it to work. Hello everyone. I just had to come to the forums and post this text that I wrote to the survey Lenovo sent me after my initial service case: I sent my brand new Yoga C930 to be checked because of light bleed both bottoms corners of the screen. They received the laptop on January 2nd and on January 7th I asked what the situation was, they told me it was being prosessed. On January 14 I again sent a message to customer service asking for an update since I didn't get any updates unless I asked (which is really bad service). They replied that according to the service center there wasn't enough light bleed. They then sent the laptop back. So for a week the laptop was just laying somewhere at the service center and only after I asked about it did they send it back. When I got it back I noticed the service person had scratched the laptops hard metal hinge. So now I had light bleed and  a scratched laptop. He hadn't even used the protective sleeve I had put the laptop in (sleeve came with the laptop). Instead he had forcefully jammed the sleeve in the box and put the laptop in a random plastic bag... At that point the laptop had been gone for a month and now the only way to get a replacement metal hinge is to send it back to Germany AGAIN. I have no idea how long it will take this time, or even if it will be returned in any good condition. I can say I have lost all my trust in the Lenovo service center and I am disappointed that Lenovo does not have any service in... Read more

Hi there,

I the new owner of Yoga C930-13IKB. I've also bought USB-c dock/hub from Satechi (similar to this: https://satechi.net/collections/usb-type-c/products/type-c-multi-port-adapter-with-ethernet-v2, but +DisplayPort).

The Yoga/Windows 10 doesn't recognise it. I only hear the sound from Windows that something is connecting. That's all.

I've tried another hub (Sandberg) - a pen drive connected thru it is visible in Windows, but HDMI doesn't work.

What WORKING hubs - non-Lenovo - do you know (Display Port is the most important)?

Or maybe there is a solution to start up the Satechi hub?

Ok so i would describe myself as an intermediate/advanced PC user, but this has baffled me. My speakers suddenly stopped working so i did the normal reinstalling of the drivers however this did nothing. I tried this many times, uninstalling the windows audio drivers. Nothing worked. Because of all my messing with the system to try and get the speakers to work, i decided to reinstall windows hoping this would fix the issue. On the newly installed version of windows i had no sound from the Microsoft drivers or from installing the Realtek drivers. Currently i have noticed that the drivers do not seem to be correctly installing. After installing the Realtek drivers the installation all works perfectly, restarting the computer and then finishing the installation etc. But after i check in device manager the Microsoft drivers still seem to be installed? I have tried manually uninstalling the Microsoft drivers and then installing tthe Realtek, but the Microsoft drivers just reappear. The sound does work from the headphone jack. I initially thought it might be the hardware the speakers themselves but after noticing the drivers aren't installing correctly it may well be a software issue. Can anyone help?!?! I really don't have the 99 Microsoft wanted to help and Lenovo were completely useless, uninsterested and told me to contact Microsoft. What really sucks is the fact my Warranty with Lenovo has literally just ran out

So this whole conundrum started with something getting stuck in the fan. As far as I could tell, you had to remove the motherboard to get to the fans so I took apart the whole laptop and put it back together. It worked fine for a day, but then it stopped charging (still works while plugged in) and now the speakers don't work. Only thing that makes sense to me is that it's the motherboard, but I don't really understand why. Any thoughts/ideas?

I put my headphones in the jack today and heard a weird background noise. When I removed them, the computer speakers were making a loud buzzing noise as well.  The buzzing noise comes and goes and disappears if I mute the computer's volume.  I cannot hear any audio on my computer now (no music, videos, noise at start up/shut down, etc.). I have tried updating the sound drivers and restarting the computer several times, but to no avail.  I have also tried to get sound with and without external speakers attached, with and without headphones in, etc. and I can only occassionally get the loud buzzing noise which is coming directly from both of the speaker vents on the bottom of the computer.  Thoughts on a solution?

I have a brand-new Yoga C930 2-in-1 with a 1TB SSD and 16 GB RAM, which I'd like to run Ubuntu Linux on. I can't manage to boot from a USB (type A) pen drive yet, though. I managed to enter the BIOS (via this hint) and the "Boot from USB" option is "Enabled". When I exit the BIOS, though, saving the changes, having the USB pen drive plugged-in into the USB-A slot, Windows is booting up just normal. No USB boot happens, no boot menu is shown. Also, the usual pressing of buttons such as F2, F11, F12 or Del doesn't result in anything being shown from the BIOS. How do I boot from a USB drive then? Obviously, when there is a related option in the BIOS, it should be possible, shouldn't it?

Hello everyone! So after going back and forth which laptop i wanted i finally ended up getting a Yoga C930 which feels MUCH better compared to the 730 i had for about a day. The only concern i have for it right now is the fan noise is noticeable. I updated all of the drivers and did all of the windows updates, but it seems the fan is much more audible compared to the 730 i had. (I used the windows app and Driver Easy to do this) It's not entirely annoying but i do notice it. I also notice the laptop tends to get a bit warm. I know its only been a few hours but still its something i've noticed.  This is the exact one i purchased from Best Buy I've also noticed the Dolby Atmos Speaker System app apparently isn't compatible with my device? Also looking if anyone has recommendations on which usb c dongle to use so I can connect extra USB, display, and memory card reader? Some of the ones I?ve found on amazon don?t exclusively list if it works on the yoga c930

I recently purchased the Yoga c930 to mainly draw on the go and do artwork in various apps and programs (mainly Photoshop, SketchBook, and Krita). However, this 2 in 1 is unable to download the wacom feel it driver ( I get a message saying that the wacom driver is not compatiable with the computer/tablet, which is wierd because the pen uses wacom aes technology) and I am having trouble with getting pressure sensitivity to work in almost everything I have tried to draw in. I even tried to change setting within the programs themselves, but the only one that really worked was Photoshop. Krita and Sketchbook still have no pressure sensitivity. There is also a Lenovo Pen Settings control panel for pressure sensitivity, but it does not really seem to make a difference in sensitivity when I change the settings there. Any suggestions as to how to get the pressure sensitivity to function properly on this computer would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to return the laptop and get the Yoga 720 13" becuase this computer is really nice otherwise, but I'm starting to think that may be the only option if I want to have a better drawing experience.

Have a new Yoga C930 and the edges are sharp and cutting into my palms. Is this a defect or perhaps a design flaw? Using a palm rest/roll is not a solution. Can the edges be fixed or is there a type of case or cover that Lenovo can provide to cover the edges?

I put a vinyl cover on my. On Amazon look for vinyl skins. They are about 30 bucks, but they come off with no sticky back and have prevented two serious scratches on my other computer, so I use it for protection. If you place it a little lower, the vinyl will cover the edges and it won't be so sharp. However, there is a hard shell cover from iPearl mCover again, on Amazon that I insist on purchasing for all of our computers. The problem is, the company doesn't release these for about 6 months after the new model comes out...So I wait patiently.I wasn't going to put a skin on my new C930 because I love the color and look, but I had to to protect the computer from that palm mark you get when using it.
