I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,
even though my Dell XPS 15z is not officially tested for Windows 10 and probably never will be tested, I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday.
Everything seems pretty fine, except for the (always horrible) Cypress Touchpad. This is what happened:
1. After the Upgrade process finished, I found that Windows installed Synaptics Touchpad drivers.2. My trackpad worked, except for no multi-touch gestures.3. I uninstalled all drivers, cleaned files + registry via CCleaner and rebooted whenever needed4. I installed the drivers I pulled from this post: en.community.dell.com/.../195798065. I checked if two-finger-scrolling was enabled in the driver configuration utility, checked and unchecked the boxes several times6. I tried all kinds of other bugfixes for the infamous Cypress Trackpad driver under Windows 8 and so on
All in all, nothing helped - apart from the basic functionalities which the generic driver also provides, I have absolutely no gestures support. The driver simply does not seem to work at all, despite running in the background.
There seem to be similar problems with Synaptics drivers, only that there seem to be fixes for it.
I have absolutely no hope that Dell will release a halfway decent driver for this piece of junk they call a trackpad, but maybe other users have an idea on how to fix this issue.

ChrisP.S.: I don't have to mention, that the lacking support and usability of this trackpad is the main reason that's keeping me from buying any Dell ... Read more

I have a USB Disk Enclosure that was working with Windows 8.1.  I recently installed a Windows Update optional update titled "Cypress -
Other hardware - Cypress
At2 USB Storage Adapter" and the next time I attempted to use the disk enclosure, it did not work.  When I connect the device the system makes a sound like it recognizes a device and the
Device Manager display gets redrawn (refreshes), but no device shows up in Device Manager, Disk Manager or Safely Remove
Hardware and Eject Media.  I have booted, also without helping the situation.  I am thinking that I should remove the update, but the "Uninstall and update" panel does not list and update title that matches the above.

Update #1:  I found the same issue from two others on another MS forum that was posted yesterday: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/crypress-a2b-usb-driver-update/96765e04-7f4a-42fb-bf37-ca98fa8fc0cc?rtAction=1395927639282

I have had MS Support remoted into my system all morning and am being told they want $99 to run their tools to fix the problem.
Update #2:  After hours chatting w/MS Support, no progress.  They ran lots of virus scans and repair procedures.  I did make the following observation.  When the USB Drive is connected, the system recognized something and chimes as described
above.  What actually changes is that a "Cypress AT2 USB Storage Adapter" devices appears ... Read more

Anyone else have these problems with the trackpad on their T460s on Windows 10? Any fixes? Three finger scroll stops working after sleepAfter using the trackpoint, the touchpad becomes erratic forcing me to disable the trackpoint in settings ( which is annoying since the trackpoint is one of the reasons I bought this thing! )I have installed the latest ultranav drivers ( April ) from the lenovo site but the issues remain. The release notes even say that three finger scroll has been fixed but in my case it is not.

A:T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

I could not reproduce these issues with the latest web-release driver

three-finger scroll works before and after sleep.  scroll down to show desktop.  scroll up to show application switcher.  scroll left/right to switch applications
I did not notice any erratic touchpad, so can you be more specific what you are doing/seeing?

These issues may be caused by non-default mouse/trackpoint/touchpad settings, so can you clarify if you have changed any settings to cause these issues?

Previously I had a problem where my trackpad could not be used while using the keyboard, in this thread the problem was solved: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/G51-35-Getting-Touchpad-to-Work-while-T... However, with the latest Windows 10 update it seems to have broken it. Basically the fix was editing registry entries for my trackpad, and after the windows update, I reinstalled the latest Elan driver, and reset the registry entries to what they were before, but it still didn't work. I tried rolling back my driver to an older one, but that just flat out didn't work, windows came up with an error whenever I tried to use my trackpad. So basically, is there any fix so I can use my trackpad and the keyboard at the same time? If need be I am fine using a generic windows driver (which seems to work) but I don't know how to keep windows ten from automatically updating the driver for me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A:G51-35 - Windows 10 update messed up my Trackpad.

Windows 10 has a bad habit of automatically pulling in updates even when told not to...  It would seem the engineers think it best to let thier efforts show up without warning...
I would go with the Windows drivers if they work, Elan, Synaptics and the others have been having real trouble getting drivers to work right, and even when they do work they are problematic at best, as you have expereinced.
Good luck.

I purchased a Yoga 300 less than a week ago and ever since purchase it has been running laggily. It was a display model (I realise this may be part of the reason it lags); however I have had particular trouble with my trackpad. Every time I tried to scroll with two fingers, it would jerkily try to catch up, and beeped loudly. I downloaded the new Windows 10 driver to fix this issue, only now it only scrolls when it decides to, and slowly at that! Currently I can only scroll by using the cursor on the screen, or with the arrow keys (which is also laggy). I have tried to access the additional mouse options via Settings, but it comes up with an error message saying "Windows can't access the specified device, path or file".Please help!

My trackpad occasionally will just stop working. The buttons become unresponsive as well as the trackpad itself. Only way to temporarily fix it is to reboot. I and many others had this issue on Windows 8.1 but it seemed fixed after updating to the A03 bios. Now, on Windows 10 using the A05 bios, the issue is back. Is anyone else having this problem?

I have removed the original Win10 and reinstalled from scratch Win8.1 Pro on my Dell xps 13 9350. I have downloaded all the possible drivers from the official "Dell driver download" page and run them all in the order suggested. Also the BIOS is updated. However, there are still several devices not recognized: 1. There is no Win8.1 driver for the trackpad. The one of Win10 is not compatible with Win8.1, so the trackpad is currently recognized in the device manager as PS/2-compatible. Moral: the scroll function does NOT work!! 2. Under "other devices" I get two "PCI data acquisition and signal processing controller" icons and one "unknown device" flagging "there are no compatible drivers for this device" 3. After installing the latest drivers (February updates -not sure which one in particular created the problem) I now get also under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" and icon with "Standard SATA AHCI Controller" flagging "this device cannot start. (Code 10)" While I can live with 2. and 3., the issue 1. with the trackpad is VERY annoying, and it would be great if Dell would provide a driver for it (btw., this model is now more than 3 months on the market). PS: the February update seems has fixed part of the problems with the WiFi and with mouse. I could solve them temporarily in January by installing other drivers of another model (Dell xps 15 9550), in particular these two: Communications_Driver_G1... Read more

A:Dell xps 13 9350 downgrade windows 8.1, trackpad not working and other issues.

Hope this helps for items 1 and 2, not sure about item 3...
For item 1, have you tried using the Windows 7 touchpad driver?  Download link below.  When you run the downloaded Dell Update Package, choose Extract (not Install), and create a folder to extract the files.  Then right click Setup.exe, choose Properties, then click the Compatibility tab, and then check the Compatibility box and choose Windows 7.  This should allow the driver to install successfully.
For item 2, you'll need to install the Serial I/O driver, which isn't listed for Windows 8.1, but you can find it in the Dell Driver Pack for Windows 8.1, link below also.  You'll need something like 7zip to extract the CAB file, but you'll find the driver buried in there.  Once you have the driver pack extracted to a folder, you can go into Device Manager, then right click the PCI Data Acquisition device, then choose Update Driver. Then choose Browse, and point it to the extracted folder and make sure include subfolders is checked.  The driver should then install.

Where is the Windows 8 Cypress TrackPad Driver for the XPS 15z?
Problem: Before upgrading to Windows 8 the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant would of forced you to removed the Cypress TrackPad Software and Driver before upgrading. After upgrading your XPS 15z to Windows 8, you will then notice that there is no Cypress TrackPad Driver on the Dell Drivers and Downloads Site for the XPS 15z under the Windows 8 section. Instead there is only a Windows 7 Driver.
Dell have quietly marked the A06 Version of the Cypress TrackPad driver as Windows 8 compatible but trying to install the A06 Cypress TrackPad Driver normally will give you a incompatibility error like the one below, this is due to the Setup.exe file. A workaround to solve this problem is to perform a manual install of the Cypress TrackPad driver by following the instructions in the answer thread below (see link)

This is what will be displayed if you try to install the A06 Cypress TrackPad Driver on the XPS 15z through its normal Setup.exe. The error is slightly misleading as the driver itself works under Windows 8, but for whatever reason Windows 8 identifies the software installer as incompatible and blocks the installation.

To get around this, you can bypass the normal Setup Executable and install the driver and software manually:
Note: The Windows 7 Driver is listed Windows 8 compatibl... Read more

I use a y50-70,  model 20378, I'm running Windows 10 and all my drivers are up-to-date (I have installed the most recent trackpad drivers through the Windows 10 auto-detect drivers feature, and I have installed them directly from the Lenovo website). Sometimes, when I open up the computer, the trackpad is disabled without explanation. When I go to Mouse settings I receive this notification "Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. If you have installed another PS/2 Pointing Device Driver please uninstall the Synaptics driver by clicking on the Yes button. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again. Do you want to uninstall the Synpatics driver now?"I have done this several times, and the fix is never permanent. I click yes to have the Synpatics driver uninstalled, then I remove and reinsert my USB mouse (logitech M545) and wait for that driver to be reinstalled. I then reinstall my the Synaptics driver and restart my computer. Everything works fine. However, the next time I put my computer to sleep/standby/power off, I have to go through this song-and-dance again if I want my trackpad to work. This has happened several times. My trackpad only works if the driver has just been installed, and the computer just restarted. If I turn off, then turn on the computer, WITHOUT installing the trackpad driver, the trackpad doesn't work.

Hello,My trackpad hasn't been behaving as expected since upgrading to Windows 10. Windows 10 trackpad gestures and two-finger scrolling don't work consistently. Occassionally they work at startup but then stop working fairly quickly. Additionally, sometimes the trackpad becomes completely unresponsive for a few seconds.I've tried installing multiple versions of the trackpad driver from both Lenovo and the generic Synaptics driver without success. I currently have "Lenovo Pointing Device - v19.0.17.5 07Aug15" installed on a clean install of Windows 10. It seems like a driver issue as the trackpad works as expected in Linux Mint 17.2. I'd appreciate any assistance as my laptop is currently almost unusable.

Hello!  I bought this device just yesterday evening, and in about 12 hours usage I have had this problem about 3 times: 1) The trackpad slows down2) Next, it'll apparently start detecting the wrong gestures, like multifingered gestures when I use only one finger, or the inverse, or else it starts clicking when I'm not putting on much pressure, etc.3) Finally - and this is the worst part - the trackpad stops detecting pressure in about 60% of it's central area...4) I restart the system and everything is perfect again for a while. What should I do? Should I return the product? I already searched for updates in the software, but everything was fine and up to date. Thanks for your time!

Hi Flipthedog
Thanks for writing to us.
We would suggest to uninstall and then reinstall the touchpad drivers from our support.euro.dell.com--enter tag#--submit--choose drivers and downloads--select the operating system--install the driver from the list.
If its still the same, please check in safemode on the functionality.
Also if the issue started recently, you can try doing a system restore and observe.

I just received the XPS 13 9360 today and already the trackpad is irking me. I have tried a couple of laptops now, and this is my last hope before going back to a MacBook Pro. My usual has been OSX for my laptop and Windows for my Desktop. I was trying to do something different since the last two MBPs have been junk, but now I am beginning to reevaluate my opinion of the latest Macs
Hopefully you all can help me :)

I am accidentally moving the mouse while typing, the cause is clear and I can live with that. The issues I am having are with the gestures.
while two finger scrolling, sometimes it will zoom in or out to a point where the window is just a little square
while two finger scrolling, sometimes it will click
edit: it is starting to lock up on me

When logging into the forum, where a username already saved. JKTTRA... the saved password was mine though. I am toying with the idea that this computer is preowned
I am also having an issue with the scroll speed. It is so slow. Anyone familiar with Macs trackpad scrolling, I want to be scroll with that kind of speed in any program. (firefox, chrome, edge, etc). hate going through google results 2 links per swipe.

A:XPS 13 9360 trackpad issues

All I might bring up is different utilities may interpret the gestures in different ways.  In some utilities, such as a weather map, I may be able to scroll he map around.  In others the same gesture will zoom.\
I have not as yet done this, but make sure you are aware of the normal gestures and what they should do and then compare that to what might be happening in a particular situation.  You might also look at adjusting the touch sensitivity.

Hi all,

I am having intermittent trackpad issues on Windows 7 with my Dell XPS L321x ultrabook with the trackpad freezing mid-use or not being responsive after turning on the laptop (requiring multiple reboots to resolve).

The freezing is sporadic which makes me think that it is a possible driver issue - I'm using a slightly older version of the trackpad drivers which seem to make the problem occur slightly less frequently compared to the most up-to-date ones.

Can anyone advise how I might identify the exact problem and correct it?

So I got this PC (V592G) back this summer, and it's been working (mostly) except for a few issues I'm pretty sure that are Win 10 related. First, I get a short term flickering on my screen when a quick brightness changes. Its only lasts for a few seconds and is just a slight rapid changing in brightness - reminds me of a flourescent light warming up. Don't know if it's a driver thing (I've tried different Intel GFX drivers, some are better, but it never goes away.). It doesn't seem to happen if I force my Nvidia chip, so I doubt its a problem with the LCD. Second, how do I make the trackpad not use the Windows default setting. I've installed the synaptics drivers, but I never get any options to make changes. Going into the advanced options in the mouse setting just shows the trackpad as a basic HID mouse, and I don't get any of the screens to change the Synaptic options (scroll area, etc) like I do on my old MSi running Win 7. I have a weird issue with one of my 4th gen X1 Carbons, model 20FC-S2S600 ... Whenever I rest my palm on the palmrest to type, the mouse moves unexpectedly. My finger was near the touchpad but absolutely not touching it. To reiterate, this is not an issue of inadvertetly touching the trackpad while typing. The mouse moves when pressure is applied to the right side of the palmrest between the trackpad and fingerprint reader. Has anyone else expreienced this issue?

Okay, so this just started happening tonight, but my trackpad and touchscreen on my XPS 15 9560 aren't working like they used to. I've had this laptop for about one and a half months and this is only happening now.
Whenever I use my trackpad, be it using one finger to navigate Chrome or to select files, the trackpad randomly registers my one finger navigation as two finger scrolling and scrolls down the page. If I'm actually scrolling with two fingers on my laptop, sometimes the trackpad will register this as two finger zooming and will resize the webpage. Sometimes it will even register my two finger use as a three finger gesture and minimize my open windows. I don't know why this has started happening, and why only now, but it has made my trackpad unusable and I can't seem to do basic navigations anymore.
My touchscreen is also starting to konk out on me. It just plain stops working. I can touch it once, and it will register, but then any more touches won't register. I can't scroll with the touchscreen and it becomes unresponsive.
This is my only laptop and the laptop I will be using for the next four years. I'd really appreciate help in fixing these issues. Thanks.

Hey all,

Just thought I would toss it out there. I have finally got all device drivers loaded for the Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook. I wanted to thank the crew here for the help on the driver package for the display driver (Intel 3000 Driver).

Just some crazy stuff like the auto dimmer on the screen was always lowering the screen display to its lowest level. To fix this I disabled it in the advanced settings in the power management area of the control panel.

I just wanted to get peoples thoughts though. The mouse driver while loaded including tray icon is only partially working. The multi gestures don't work at all, the side scroll doesn't work and it makes the unit much less functional.

Am I stuck waiting for a new driver or is there anything that might be able to be tweaked to get it working better? It is Cypress Trackpad (ACPI\VEN_DLL&DEV_052E) running driver

Hello everyone! I have an Acer Aspire V3-572PG that is less than a year old. I have an occasional issue with the trackpad that I?m wondering about. I?ve tried to read a bit about issues people have had with the trackpad on this laptop, but I?m unclear on what exactly the problem (and solution) is, if anything.   Every so often in the middle of use ? randomly and not very frequently ? the trackpad will change the way it responds. Sometimes these issues begin individually, sometimes all at once: - tap-to-click behaves as if I?m holding down the mouse button (e.g, if I tap and then move the cursor, it will highlight text, instead of just clicking) or stops working altogether- to move the cursor I must use two fingers instead of one- scrolling seems to stop working- right-click is malfunctioning also When this happens, I have to restart my machine and then the trackpad works as usual. The driver says it?s up to date, and nothing in particular seems to trigger this issue when it occurs ? the computer sometimes seems to slow briefly and then goes back to normal, but sometimes it's completely normal and it just happens. Either way the trackpad is messed up until I restart. Is this what anyone else experiences? Is there a fix? Software or hardware? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello. I have had my Ideapad 300 for several months now and I really love it except for one thing, the trackpad. Due to where my hand and fingers naturally sit, there is a spot on the trackpad that shows a little more wear than the area around it. In this picture ( http://imgur.com/bJovhqL ), you can see that there is an oval shaped region that looks a little different. The problem I am having is that several times a day (up to several times per hour), the trackpad goes nuts.  It doesn'ttrack my finger correctly and performs multi-finger actions even though I'm just using one finger.  It jitters around the screen if I try to use it, and I just have to wait for it to self-correct by staying off of it for up to 30 seconds.  If I look at the trackpad icon on the bottom right of the taskbar while it's messing up, the trackpad is registering multiple fingers. I'll use one finger, and the icon will display 1 finger, 2 fingers, 3 fingers, 1, 2, 1, 3, 4, etc.  Like I said, I just have to wait it out for it to go away.  And on one occasion, I noticed that even if I hovered my finger above the trackpad without actually touching it, it would still register fingers, like it was being super super sensitive or something. I've tried everything reasonable to fix it, tweaking the settings, uninstalling and reinstalling the trackpad, updating the drivers, using the OEM drivers, and nothing works.  It's getting very annoying, and ... Hi all, I am struggling with an issue that I have seen in other posts, but they date back to 2015, so I need to understand if this issue has been solved with new upgrades. My PC came with Windows 8.1. I upgraded it to 10 and all was going well. However, because of some issues with Office 2007 I decided to reset it from the system (not from the Novo button). All went well and the PC seemed to be "lighter" and faster, maybe also because all the preloaded software didnýt get installed. However, after working fine for a few days the trackpad became completely unresponsive. I tried a lot of things, including updating the BIOS and updating Synaptic, but nothing. Based on a conversation with Lenovo support I reset the PC again and the trackpad started to work again. Lenovo support told me to use the Novo button in order to go back to Windows 8.1, do all the necessary updated in 8.1 and then upgrade to 10, but I wanted to see first if the same system reset would do the trick. After 2 days the trackpad stopped working again and I realised that, like reported in other posts in this forum, the issue happens when the PC goes into sleep mode or hybernates (bacisally when I close the screen). This never happened before I reset the PC the very first time. In Device Manager the mouse disappears and I can see an I2C HID Device with a yellow tringle. I have tried to update the drivers by choosing the Synaptic device and using the drivers from Synap... Read more

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Anyway, my trackpad was stuck in tap mode, and I wanted to right click to close some windows. So I went into Mouse and Trackpad settings and selected the default mouse button as "Right." After this came an interesting paradox where I couldn't change the default button back to "left". When I tap on stuff I get the right click menu. Also, this Cloudbook just has a trackpad. No buttons at all. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Hello All,Hoping to find a solution to a VERY annoying issue. When I click the left mouse button UNDER the trackpad, it clicks once when I press it down, and once when I let the button back up. So clicking it once (up and down), effectively double-clicks. I have tried resetting trackpad to default and downloading latest drivers. Neither has fixed the issue. I first noticed the problem try to fold and unfold code in Visual Studio. I click the + box and it will expand then immediately collapse again cause it is being clicked again. Same issue with closing tabs in Chrome. I close the far left tab and it closes that tab and the next tab that fills the space. Very annoying. I otherwise love this machine but this problem is driving me crazy. Thankful for any help!-Mike

Hi, We're going to be deploying ~150 Yoga 260 laptops in the next month and I am working on getting them to image with SCCM.  We are imaging them with Windows 7 (unfortunately). I am able to image them and I install the Screen Rotation Utility -- http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-Yoga-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-... -- through SCCM and it installs fine, but when I fold the computer into Tablet mode it switches to portrait mode and stays there and does not automatically rotate. This will persist through a reboot.  It will stay like this until I switch it back manually (Screen Resolution --> Landscape).   If I click the auto-rotate button icon in the system tray area it will also switch to portrait mode until I manually change it back. Also when folded into Tablet mode the trackpad will stop working all together until a reboot.  A USB mouse will still work fine. I thought there was maybe a sensor hub driver that might go along with the screen rotate utility, but I didn't see one listed on the driver page (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-Yoga-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-... I installed an old version that I used when deploying the Yoga 12 last year, but it still does the same thing. In addition when trying to install the Hotkeys software (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-Yoga-Series-... I just recieved the 7510 about 2 weeks ago and have been getting increasingly annoyed with the trackpad which seems to  have issues. The trackpad never seems to stop working completely, but it seems to get stuck for a second pause or stutter frequently. Any suggestions would be welcome.

A:Keyboard and trackpad not working after bios update

Hi, One thing you could try would be to see if you can roll back to the previous bios version as follows. Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Diagnostic Menu option ( f2 ). Select the Firmware Management option and then select the BIOS Rollback option. Regards, DP-K

Windows Update comments & questions no Window update issues

Why are windows update so huge? On mine, I noticed 104.7 mb for required security updates.

I also noticed some other optional updates for windows 7, I am ed to see those with Windows 7 mainstream supported ended. I thought Microsoft Security essential would be the only one shown in the Optional updates and nothing else. I know windows 7 gets security updates till 2020.

A:Windows Update comments & questions no Window update issues

Well... Better not complain about it, now mainstream support has ended.

I'm at near 1Gb of Optional updates & Hotfixes since i installed SP1, and for security updates i do not find those in excess.
