Buffalo High Power Card Not high powered

Q: Buffalo High Power Card Not high powered

I have a WLI- CB HP 54 Buffalo wireless network card and it is supposed to reach further than regular wireless G cards, but my internal wirelesss on my laptop spans MUCH further.

I am using Windows XP SP2 and installed the driver and software about 3 times. I have found that windows configures it better than the software that came.

My question are a couple.. First. when i go and set up wireless zero configuration service to automatic, it keeps going off the next time i restart and when i search for networks it says "make sure your switch is turned on " .......

I called Buffalo and they said that it was my internal PCI adapter interferring with it. It is an A/B internal card. Within close range, the wireless card works fine.
I also wanted to know if there are dangers of having my internal A/B card and a wireless G card running at the same time.

Also the Buffalo says it is B/G, but doesn't pick up B networks well.

Thank you for your help.

Preferred Solution: Buffalo High Power Card Not high powered

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Buffalo High Power Card Not high powered

Is your router A, B, or G? Also, I can't think of any danger, per se, of running both cards. This is a process called Multi-homing. If you plug in a LAN cable, you'll actually have 3 network connections, 3 IP Addresses, etc. Some apps may get confused & blow up, otherwise you're just using some resources unnecessarily. If it was me, I'd turn off the internal card if I had a G card I'd rather use...

I'm looking to update my gaming PC and I already have one 8800 GT GFX card. I have £175 to spend and would like advice on the best route to go down.

I'm going to buy a new SLI mobo (for future proofing my PC) but will not have enough to buy a new high quality GFX card like a second 8800 GT. Is it worth buying a cheaper card like an 8600 GT for the meantime?

I know that this helps with the newly enabled Physx drivers despite very few games utilising this atm (although I do play Unreal 3 which does use it), but does it help improve normal games too? The main games I play are Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Battlefield.

Any advice would be great.

A:Can I combine a high and low powered Nvidia card in SLI?

I don't honestly think the "future proofing" is worth the hussle. You'll get them cheaper in the future, and you might want to get crossfire instead of SLI when you have enough money to really make the upgrade.
Adding a 8600 on the 8800s side will help you a little, but I'd advice you to save your money, and propably get two Radeon 4850s with a Crossfire board as soon as you've gathered enough money, and sell the 8800GT. Or just save your money, and get a SLI board and the real cards you're planning to use on it.

Hi all,

Just wondering: I run my PC on an average no-name brand UPS to safeguard against sudden power outages. Not so uncommon in my part of the world so almost a necessity, not a luxury. Problem is that the UPS is nothing special while my PC is a power sucker - GTX780 Ti Super clocked, core i7 4770K over clocked, several USB devices, 2 SSD's and 1 HDD, multiple fans etc. All fed by a Corsair 1050W PSU. Will the UPS potentially reduce performance of the PC or cause it to BSOD if it cannot deliver enough power? It has not happened yet. Or does it not matter as long as the UPS is being fed from the wall plug?

A:Running an average UPS on a modern high powered PC

Running a high powered PC with a cheap UPS doesn't make much sense. Any UPS is going to have a maximum power rating, and with a cheap one the actual capabilities may not match advertised specs. If at any time the UPS is unable to supply the required current there are going to be problems. That means possible spontaneous shutdowns, BSODs, or damage to either the UPS or computer.

Not recommended.

I want a gfx card for high power gaming, and I want to spend as little as possible on it... I want to try SLI, perhaps two 7600 GT OC. I've seen it on the web for 266.28 CDN a piece. Would two of these outperform, say an X850 Platinum Edition, which costs more than two 7600's.

A:Solved: HIGH power video card for minimum moolah

I would do the SLI for that price no doubt at all.

P.S. yes they would whoop the 850's hind-end in a dog fight. Might even be close to the x1900

I recently updated my graphics card to GeForce GTX 650 Ti on my custom built machine. Now, whenever computer enters, and then comes back out of standy, or hibernation, it causes CPU usage to jump to around 90 - 100% and makes computer unusable to say the least. (Note: CPU not GPU)

First what I've tryed:

- All drivers, for all cards, are up to date
- Did a clean reinstall of Windows 7
- Flash BIOS to most recent version (which unfortunately is 2012)
- Updated Chipset drivers for motherboard
- Ran a performance test, test couldn't make it pass the 3D Graphics portion, it caused the same high CPU usage.

What I haven't tryed:

- Installing card in another computer (not really an option for me right now)
- Checking PSU
The performance test I used was from Passmark and it makes me suspect something is up with DirectX11 when it failed the 3D portion. Does anyone have any other ideas or troubleshooting I can try?

Thanks in advance

PS. I did a simple search for this before posting and couldn't find my answer. I will continue to look through the forums as well

A:New Video Card caused high CPU usuage coming out of low power state

have you gone into task manager to see what process is causing the high cpu usage?

thats about the only way youll find out.

chances are its a windows related program, so make sure you have the latest windows service pack and that its up to date.

I am running XP SP 2 on Intel Motherboard DH55TC, Core i5 CPU. UAA High Definition Audio class driver is resulting in high hardware interrupts that uses upto 10 to 12% of CPU. I have attached the /zip file generated by SF.

Any ideas? I got error codes when trying to debug myself with windbg.

Recently, I reinstalled my Netgear wna3100 driver. Ever since then, I've been experiencing problems with high pings in games where I normally never had problems with. Pages load slowly even just the home page of Google.

I've attached my ipconfig picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:High download speed and signal, high ping in games, slow page loads

To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.

I would also (while the device is plugged in)
go into the control panel - system - device manager - click the properties for it and make sure it's set to always on there as well.
I don't think the ipconfig can tell us much here since it's a data rate problem of some sort and not a actual connection problem from the sound of it.

The two things I mention above will hopefully keep your system from putting the device in 'low power mode' which may , or may not help your current problem.

I'm also curious if your system has recently slowed down in any other ways?

About a year ago, I noticed that my computer was running slow (both online and off) and that the explorer.exe process listed in the Windows Task Manager was usually running very high. Windows Explorer seemed to crash a lot as well. A few months ago, I attempted to install Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 on my computer and before the install completed a warning window popped up saying something like 'there is already another instance of Kaspersky running' (which was not the case since this was the first time I had ever attempted to install Kaspersky software) and the install failed. When I rebooted my computer, I got the blue screen of death for a few seconds and then Windows booted with a message saying that Windows had recovered from a serious problem. Since recovering from whatever happened after the failed Kaspersky install, my computer is slower than ever and the Task Manager still shows a high CPU usage even though the System Idle Process is high and there isn't any processes listed that are using much CPU time at all.

I just scanned my system with the latest updated versions of AdAware, Spybot S&D, SuperAntiSpyware, and Avira AntiVir. All of them found nothing. I then cleaned my computer with CCleaner and ran HijackThis.

This problem began yesterday. I noticed my CPU was at 90C constantly with very high CPU usage (>50%). I had no major programs running. I rebooted several times and the program persisted.

1. I went into safe mode and everything was normal. So this rules out hardware issues.
2. I reformatted and everything was normal..but then after installing these few programs, the problem began again.

Hello. First off, having utorrent effectively craps you out on this forum since it has a bad rep. Suggest you remove it and come back, start a new thread. That said, if you're familiar with Task Manager, check the CPU percentage on the processes tab (click CPU column to sort). This may help pinpoint which app(s) are whack.

It's wierd... when I start up Granado Espada, 3-D MMORPG and move my camera angle something in my computer squeaks just as I move it.

Also, when I scroll up and down webpages.

These noises go away some time after the program has been opened.. but I just want to know what part of the computer is squeaking. I figure it's the GPU.

Oh and my case is open so mabye that's why I can hear it so well.

A:High high pitch sqeaking noise from computer when scrolling

Could be interference from something. If i have my volume WAY up, I can hear distortion when I move my mouse, but only if certain audio sources are enabled. Try going to your audio setup and turning off cd digital/analog and such one at a time and see if that helps.

I've been having this problem now for an year or so now. It started when I upgraded my connection from 8/1 ADSL to 100/10 cable (so the problem wasn't noticeable even if it was there before) and when I download at high speeds (in steam, for example) my CPU usage jumps to 80% and higher, and my pc starts to stutter (mouse, audio, everything).

What makes it harder for me to track down, is that it does not happen right after I start my PC. For a good 1 to 3 hours after starting my PC I can download fine at full speed (~12MB/s) without any problems. But after my PC has been on for few hours the problem starts. When ever I download above 5MB/s (sometimes even above 3MB/s) my CPU usage goes to around 75% to 99% and everything stutters, mouse, video, audio etc.

Using Task Manager, it shows that NT Kernel & System is what is using the CPU.
Process Explorer shows Hardware Interrupts and DPCs as the cause for high CPU usage.

I've tried updating my drivers (mouse, keyboard audio, video and network drivers are up to date), but I cannot seem to find USB or hard drive drivers in case it's those that are causing it. If it's even drivers causing it.

I'm using AVG Free and ZoneAlarm.
My HDD is 7200rpm so it should be able to handle 100mb cable connection. (not 100% sure about that)

I've also noticed that my windows has set pagefile at 8190MB, even though it says 12285MB is recommended. But that might not have anything to do with the problem.

A:Stuttering and high CPU usage while downloading at high speeds

Hey, some thoughts,

- Is your BIOS up-to-date?
- Are you sure AVG Free and ZoneAlarm work nicely together? They used to be fine couple years ago when they were AV/Firewall but recent versions tend to cross-over. Try uninstalling one? I can't say why would the problem start after sometime though.
- Are you using Ethernet or wireless?
- How is your power options set in control panel? Try High Performance if it is not set that way already.

I guess these drivers are good for you too Latest AMD Chipset Drivers Released

So I recently built a computer (I will post the hardware below) and it replaced my old iMac. Ever since I have built it, the connection on it has been incredibly "spiky." Especially when I game, it will start out at about 10ms ping which, then spike to around 800ms for 20 minutes at a time. My other computers in the house remain their high connection and my download speed stays at about 50mbs. I ran a packet loss test and it shows a ton of packet loss and high amounts of jitter. Recently I have been seeing 100% CPU and nearly the same Memory numbers when I am doing virtually nothing on my computer.  I am also getting messages telling me to shut down programs because of the high memory usage...but I don't actually have much running.  Additionally, when I try to restart the computer, I am often told that an app is running preventing the restart but I can not tell what app that is...Restart sometimes will work nevertheless, other times I have to manually shut the computer down and then manually start it up again.  Also, sometimes after restart I am presented with two users to choose from, my regular user and a "user" that I have no idea what it is but it is called "postgres."
Also, though I do not know if this is related to this problem or not, I use Norton Internet Security, including its anti-spam program.  I use it with Outlook 2013.  Sometimes Norton fails to designate spam emails with its usual designation of "Norton Anti Spam."   What is weird about this is that the problem turns up intermittently in that a group of emails will be properly marked...but 30 minutes later the next group won't be.

The following problem happens once/twice a day while playing Battlefield 4 (I've been spending most of these last days playing it) and started like last saturday (July 26). I'm playing Battlefield 4 (BF4) for 1 hour or so and everything is going just fine, but sometimes the game (image) starts to get really slow, losing fluidity and starts skipping, like stuttering (sorry I do not know if this is the correct english term for this phenomenon). When this starts to happen I alt+tab to the desktop, although it does take quite sometime (it gets slower than usual), and once I reach the desktop I open the Task Manager to see what is happening, this basically what I see (check images links at the end to better understand what is said next):
- RAM usage at 90% or more;
- I order the processes in a decreasing fashion and BF4 is at top but only consuming 1490MB or less of RAM;
- The rest of the processes consume less than 100MB each;
- I click on the Performance tab and see this >7GB of 7,9GB being consumed;
- I terminate the BF4 process to see what happens and the RAM goes down but still quite high ranging from 87-70% in the Processes tab, and in the Performance tab it goes down at 6,9-5,6GB of 7,9GB being consumed.
I suspect something is consuming the RAM but I can't seem to find out what is it. I even used the Process Expl... Read more

Okay..I don't download updates. Don't ask why. But after using HouseCall(the online Virus Scanner), most of the results are "critical updates" which I have to download. Am I still at risk even if I have the whole security package - Antivirus(AVG and Avast), Antispyware(Spybot: S&D, Ad-aware, Spyware Blaster), Antirootkit(AVG) and Firewall (PC Tools..which is about to be replaced by ZoneAlarm)? Please help! Thanks.

A:I Don't Download Xp Updates..am I Really In High, High Danger?

Yes!!Critical updates patch vulnerabilities in the operating system, among other things. At the bare minimum, all critical updates, should be installed.

Several months ago I had to reinstall windows, and performance seemed to decline after that. Pulled up the task manager and noticed both cpu and memory were almost 100%... that cant be good, right?

My computer gets extremely slow when left on for more than a day. This started happening a few months ago and I thought I could just deal with it but it's getting pretty bad. So after a day or two, whenever I experience heavy internet usage such as downloading anything or viewing sites with large images, my computer locks up with near 100% CPU usage and it becomes inoperable until the download stops. Streaming videos isn't as bad but there's still a noticable slow-down until it's finished streaming. Even downloading something small like Panda's activescan today caused my CPU usage to spike up to the mid 80's. I'm running a dual core so it shouldn't be a problem. Oddly it only seems to be affected by internet usage -- it hardly happens when I'm playing a game.

On an unrelated note (maybe?) I keep getting a pop-up from my taskbar saying a USB device is not recognized and is malfunctioning, but all of my USB connected hardware is working perfectly. It's been going on for a while, way before the main problem started happening. It's not a problem really, just very annoying when I see it pop up every 10 minutes. Could that be a hardware issue where the connection on the motherboard got loose?

Hey All, i'm new here this is my first post but it looked like a fairly knowldegeable place so i'm happy to give it a try, hope someone here can help

First, a bit of background info..
Since i got my hands on the RC i've loved it. I'm running the 64bit version on this spec (I Don't think it'll be important, but still worth saying)

AMD Athlon 64 3200 OC'd to 2.5Ghz
1.5 GB DDR-400 Ram
GeForce 6800GT
IDE HDD's and so on.

I've already seen a post without a solution to this...

The Problem
Anyone who plays Countestrike source on Windows 7 will probably have seen this.
If the FPS Is set to 30 or lower = Normal Ping of around 24 - 30ms on UK Servers.
If The FPS Is set to 101 or higher = High ping of around 56 - 80ms on UK Servers.

This is annoying. 100FPS Is the optimal, i cap it there on purpose because i don't need anyone, i can get full smooth game play using it, however with that ping i can't.

I've tried disabling the Firewall, homegroup shares etc.
I Tried using the command:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled
No Luck.

Anyone with an idea at all i will buy a cookie if i ever meet them!

A:High FPS = High Ping in games (solution anyone?)

You could try Faster Ping. It may help lower your ping.

Free Download - Faster Ping 0.1beta - Simulation - Simtel.net

Unzip and dont't bother with the setup. Go in the fasterPing_0_1_1_11 folder, run FasterPing.exe as Administrator. Just click Apply. Reboot. Done

I've recently built a machine and whenever I boot up, a message is displayed saying: "The Nvidia system sentinel is reporting that Nvidia-powered graphics card is not receiving sufficient power.

To protect hardware from potential damage or causing a potential system lockup, the graphics processor has lowered its performance to a level that allows continued safe operations."

I am not sure as to why this is happening. My PSU is 420 watts, which should be more adaquate for my Athlon 5X-53 and my AGP GeForce FX 5200. I have the molex attached to the video card and the video card is seated properly in my mobo. Any ideas on what the problem is? Are we looking at replacing the PSU, motherboard, or video card? Or am I missing something? Thanks.

Im looking for a LED flashlight, here are my potential requirements:

Very bright (maybe 3W Cree, though im not sure I know what im talking about, i was referred to them many years ago).

single LED (only ONE led in flashlight please, no multi LED arrays).

Small and compact, fitting only two CR123 rechargable lithium batteries and the LED itself.

High quality (prefereably not made in china... )

Below ? $30 - $40.

Looks good.

I prefer a link to a trustworth retailer for the flashlight, another for 2 rechargable lithium CR123 batteries would be appreciated.

Im sorry if no one here knows enough about LEDs...

My mother was given a pretty nice HP pavillion entertainment laptop from a friend, but when I plug it in, the blue light (where I plug it in) comes on, but when I hit the power button, there is a faint high pitched squeel. Any idea what the problem could be? It will not power on enough to run any tests or anything. It is fairly new and would be great for my mom considering it was free, and she's never had a computer before.

So, after battling a myriad of problems with windows 10 for months now I've finally given up and went back to windows 7 and I'm noticing one main problem.

I was pulling 55 watts from the wall at idle with windows 10 and I am now pulling 120 watts from the wall with windows 7 with the same exact OS power settings, BIOS settings, and no Hardware changes.

As this is a HTPC, it is on idle a lot and that extra power is going to cost.

Is this normal? Does windows 10 really have half the idle power requirement of windows 7?

Hardware is:

AMD FX-8350
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
Nvidia GTX 670

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

*Also I'm not seeing any abnormally high CPU usage or anything like that.

Hello,I bought a refurbished W541 laptop (4xi7 2.9 Ghz, 32G Ram, Quatro K2100, 3K IPS, 2TB SSD, Win 10 Pro) primarily for video editing in Adobe Premiere CC2019. When operating from electricity, everything is fine, the laptop is running great. But when running on battery power at high load, such as when exporting high birate video from Adobe Premiere, when all processor cores work and the graphics card is running at full power, the notebook turns itself off automatically after about two minutes, as if the battery was not enough performance. The battery works perfectly during normal work. I have already tried three original Lenovo batteries from the dealer (4400 mAh and high capacity 9210 mah), with about 15% wear and always with the same result. My laptop is up to date, drivers and BIOS are the latest version updated with the Lenovo Vantage utility.Anybody deal with it? For example, when running on a battery, can CPU power be reduced to 70%? Or do you have any other idea or advice?

Hi, I have an ASUS A7M266 motherboard and 1.2 AMD CPU using Win98 SE. It came w/ the software ASUS Probe which tells me when it either goes beyond the threshold. The problem is that it pops up because the CPU temperature hits way over 100 degrees Celsius but just for a second. Also, the CPU fan goes at a low RPM at 2500 which is not normal (normal speed is 5800 RPM) - just for a second too. They both don't happen at the same time. this happens frequently everyday. Can someone tell me how to remedy this? thanks

Asus probe has been known to be very inaccurate and have that error message. Try downloading motherboard monitor and see what it tells you. It's freeware, suppose to work good.

First off I have 8GB of RAM, and I get notifications all the time that my RAM is high, and it wants to close programs.
The main program that worries me the most is Spotify is using 900MB of RAM when playing and 500MB when not playing. Why is this so high? The games I play are not even that high.
Also is there anyway to reduce how much RAM Chrome uses? All of the chrome added up has to be at least 2 GB of RAM.
I never had problems with RAM on my Laptop that ran Win7 with 8gb of RAM, and I ran the same programs. I switched to win8 because it was supposedly better at using RAM....

Not sure if I have memory leaks elsewhere too but I constantly get notifications that RAM is high, and the lowest it ever sits is at 60%
any help appreciated.

Since Jan-Feb of this year I have encountered the following issue while trying to play games on my laptop.

Abnormally High CPU Usage
Extremely low FPS - After 5-20 Mins of play.
Extremely High latency to servers - from 300 - 900 after 5 - 20 mins of play.

The thing is all of these started 1 year after I been using this laptop, after a full year of everything running flawlessly all these issues kicked in after I performed a clean install in Jan., I even performed one in Feb. and one 3 weeks ago, since someone suggested this could fix my issue and I still face the same problem.

I would kindly take any suggestions since I am so desperate that I am considering trowing this device out the window.

Here are my specs:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600
System Manufacturer Dell Inc.
System Model Studio 1558
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40GHz, 2400 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB
Name ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series
Adapter Description ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series
Adapter RAM 1.00 GB (1,073,741,824 bytes)

New MB arrived, same thing. Called ASUS. (What's up with those support hours - and what happened to toll free???)

ASUS said to assemble outside of the case, so I did - stripped to CPU, FAN, PowerSupply & Video Card. Now, I apply power and.... NOTHING! The power supply fan doesn't even jiggle.

With the EnerMax, does anybody know how to ensure the unit is grounded properly? Could this be the trouble? The only think I have connected is the long cable to the MB & the 12V. Shouldn't this be enough?

After I got home from a one month long vacation, the problem started happening. I turned on the computer and everything was fine, I started a game and played for a while, until I got sudden FPS problems, the game would drop to maybe 1-4 FPS and freeze for a few seconds, then go back to the low FPS amount.

I minimized the game and brought up the process manager, I noticed there was 100% CPU usage, but it immediately went back to normal. When I brought the game back up, the CPU also went back up. After a few minutes of doing the same, it started happening without the game being on. I exited all the programs I was running, and saw that the processes hogging the CPU were mainly "services.exe", "csrss.exe" and "System", all ran by "System".

After a few minutes of this, the screen went black and the power button on the monitor swapped it's color to orange. I hit a button on the monitor, and a message popped up saying "In Power Save Mode, hit any button..." etc. No buttons worked. Although the monitor appeared as the computer was off, the lights on the computer were still flashing, and no keyboard buttons worked (Numlock light was still on, but I couldn't turn it off, and no button would get the screen out of power save mode).

This now happens 15-45 minutes after I've started my computer, it seems to happen faster if I play a game. I've tried updating my video card drivers, deleting a few registry entries, running ... Read more
