Lists (within teams) "Title: Specify a value" issue

Q: Lists (within teams) "Title: Specify a value" issue

When creating a list from a pre-existing spreadsheet I have encountered the following issue:
After formatting the original sheet as a table, and ensuring the column selection and type is correct I am unable to move beyond the final naming step. Regardless of the name/value placed in the Title line (I've tried several different ones). I receive the
error notification "Title: You must specify a value for this required field".
How can I avoid this issue and complete the set up the list?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings!

I have an XP machine which I only ever user myself (as in, there are no other users on the machine, no guest account, and it logs in without a password).

I'm trying to sort out my expansive and bloated Start Menu Programs list, but it seems that there are two separate lists. One for "Joe" (the main user account) and one for "all users", I guess because some programs give the option of installing for just one user or for everyone.

All of the programs show up in the Start Menu when I click on it, but when I go into Windows Explorer to try and sort them out, there are two separate folders;

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\Start Menu\Programs

I know I can move them around in these folders (ie; putting them in related groups, such as "system tools" etc), but can I move all of them from the main user to the "all users" folder, (or vice versa) without any problems?

Thanks!
~Joe

I have some sensitive material on my computer which I would not like others to see. So, I'd like to know how to exclude some folders and files from lists like recent items, jump lists, etc. Is it possible?

A:How to exclude files and folders from "Recent" lists and jump lists

Welcome to Seven Forums Stawan. It's possible to turn off the recent items in the jumplists of specific programs. But it's a laborious process. I will describe it, but you'll have to do the legwork.

The Jump lists for each program are stored in

C:\Users\(User name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations

as automaticDestination-ms files with random names.

To figure out which file belongs to which program , you'll have to do some detective work.

For instance, you could open a video with your media player program.

Change the AutomaticDestinations folder into Detail view and Sort by Date Modified.

Only one or two of the files should be showing as modified in the past minute. One may be a list of recently viewed folders, the other should be your program.

Delete one of the files then try to open your program's jump list. If it is gone, you have the right file.

Once you have identified the right file, restore it from recycle bin and set the file properties to Read-only. This will disable the jump list for that file. You'll need to do this for all the programs you want to exclude from jump lists.

As you can see, this would be a long and lengthy process, you'd be better off creating a password protected user. Good luck. A Guy

Hey everyone,

Then I am hitting the https://login.microsoftonline.com/<tenant>.onmicrosoft.com/oauth2/token?Content-Type=application/x-www-form-urlencoded end

Hello.
This started about a week ago... no known, potentially questionable, downloads that I can recall. I've run McAfee scan- no virus activity... but it HAS quarantined the following on 11/5/08 (EUQV1EH1.exe, JS[1].pdf, 63XG4VU2.exe on 11/5/08... freescan[1].htm on 11/3/08, and CS8Q4SBJ.exe on 11/2/08).
The problem - even after running McAfee, problems persist. The issue- when running various applications (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, etc...) the Title Bar's 'flash' (from active to inactive) on occassion. I can usually restore functionality by clicking in the window, however, sometimes when this happens when using IE, it will close abruptly without pattern. I've recently been receiving 'Low Virutal Memory' warnings and recently switched the setting to allow the system to manage the swap size. Additionally- have been witnessing various CPU spikes in Task Manager when doing nothing at all!?!?!?... Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Hello, I'm an italian guy and I don't speak a good english.
That's my problem:
I've a pc with a "Raid 1" configuration (mirroring) with windows Xp Sp3 and two WD hard disks.
Two days ago, I noticed a red alarm message from my pc: "degraded raid".
After entering in windows xp, my computer recognized a second hard disk, the mirror one.
So I was able to see and modify my first hd (C:, the booting one) and his mirror (E: ), but this last one
had more data than the first one!

I tried to start up my computer with only one hard disk at a time (the other was phisically
disconnected) and windows started normally in both cases. So no hard disk was damaged.
So, I tried only E: hard disk (obviously recognized as C: ) and then C:. Then I attached E: so
my pc had both C: and E: hard disks, but the alert message remained (degraded raid).

Yesterday night I tried one last time to start only with E: and I had no problem. So I shutted down my pc and reattached C:.

This morning I started my computer and the raid configuration was ok (no red error message!), but
I've seen an error message before the windows xp screen: "NTLDR is missing".

What's the problem?
Probably my pc doesn't know from what hard disk start windows xp? Does it have problem to
recognize the boot hard disk?
What I've to do?
1) phisically disconnect one of my hard-disk alternatively? But in this case may I lost my data?

Hi, I hope you can help me with this problem.

Sometimes I like to open certain files with programs that are different than the default of its file type (for example: .jpg with paint to edit it), and the way to do that is to right click the item and click Open with and then choose from the list of programs that it gives you. Now, for whatever reason, Google Chrome (my default web browser) has gotten onto a lot of Open with lists, so I went into the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\File Exts) and deleted it from the file extensions that I don't want it to be in, such as .jpg, .avi, .bmp, and many more like those, after which it obviously didn't show up in the list anymore. The problem is that very often it comes back into the lists of some file types, so I delete it again, and it goes away until the next time it comes back, and so on and so forth. I don't know why it keeps on coming back to certain file types (not all), and what I could do to make it NEVER come back, which is what's supposed to happen when I delete the Chrome key from a file type in the registry, and in fact it is that way for some file types but not all. It's very strange.

My PC is a Windows Vista.

All help, suggestions and assistance is welcomed and appreciated, and I thank you in advance!

A:Chrome keeps returning to some "Open with" lists

chrome ( and other browsers) is designed to allow itself to open certain file types
you cannot change that behaviour

the open with list will always show you what programs are capable of opening the file types. You don't have to select that program when using open with, but it has to be there otherwise you won't see pictures on a webpage for example if you remove jpg from the open with list

when you start to fiddle with registry keys and you don't know what you are doing, you run a very serious risk of completely wrecking the computer

Hello All,

I started a few weeks ago on the PowerShell programing and I got my answer from here only. So am putting up the error that I am getting now to get some help again.

Scenario : I wrote a script that checks a Folder on a server and counts the number of files in it.Then when it finds the resulting number to be more then a specific value(threshold) it sends up a mail to the required alias. To break it all along the portion to send a mail is generated through DBmail using another .PS1 file.

In the PS1 file containing the main checking of number of files I am trying to pass 2 parameters :

1. Folder path on the server
2. the Threshold value of number of files

Now when I created a job to run this powershell script as :

IT fails with the error :

Correct the script and reschedule the job. The error information returned by PowerShell is: 'Cannot convert value "and" to type "System.Int32". Error: "Input string was not in a correct format." '. Process Exit Code -1. The step failed.

What does this mean? What is the "Velocity Scale"? Is it supposed to be acting this way or is my pen or tablet broken? If so, is there anything I can do to fix it?

This video: says it reveals hidden folders but I'm not sure if it's relates to my problem exactly since Properties doesn't have "Hidden" checked. It only has "Read-Only" checked under the General tab.

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully updated, on an Acer lap top PC.

I have several folders full of .mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. To do this I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

The two new columns appear, but the format of the "Duration" column appears to be "hours:minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03" for most .mp3's, when what I want to see is 'hours:minutes:seconds", e.g. "00:03:45".

This also happens for video files (.avi files), e.g. all my episodes of "Heroes" (sad, I know) have a duration of "00:42" instead of "00:42:xx".

Here are two pictures showing the problem with the .mp3's. The first is of Explorer showing the Duration as "Hours:Minutes":

The second picture is of the properties window of the first .mp3 in the list above:

Years ago, I was tired of random programs adding unwanted Scheduled Tasks to my computer without my knowledge, so I created two Bat files to Enable/Disable the adding of new tasks to the Task Scheduler:
Make TS Read Only:
cacls.exe c:\windows\system32\tasks /t /g everyone:R
Return to Read/Write:
cacls.exe c:\windows\system32\tasks /t /g Everyone:F System:F Administrators:F
And while most programs are able to add/edit new/existing tasks when I enable the ability to Read/Write again, "Windows Media Center" appears to be the exception and I don't know why.
WMC has not been able to add (or run) a "ScheduledRecording" task in years and I can't figure out why. The last time the task was created on its own was nearly four years ago (the same time I created my bat files) and the task never ran. I had
to Take Ownership of the Task just to delete it, and even after doing so, WMC has yet to recreate it (even though I have recordings scheduled in it.)
Did I screw up my Task Manager? I'm merely assuming my changes are what is behind WMC's inability to ask new tasks. It could be something else entirely.
Any help is appreciated.

Yes, yet another topic seemingly on one that has been asked many times before. But this is definitely different.

The PC:
Windows 7 enterprise
an mdg vxi with dual NICs ( one is running to science equipment with a static ip - works fine)
the other connects to the company network (well, it's supposed to) It's not actually on the domain yet, because the network path can never be found because of this DNS issue.

The Issue:
I can ping any site by it's IP, but never by its hostname. I cannot load any sites though the browser by using the IP, the browsers (IE6 <-- it's our standard browser right now, eww and firefox although that's not really supposed to be installed) cannot load anything. According to windows the card is fully connected with internet access.

We have tried:
1) trying different NICs as the secondary ones
2) removing the secondary and using only the onboard to connect externally
3) giving it a static IP and entering the DNS servers - we've tried our dns servers as well as googles public ones
4)all cmd commands that I could think of - nbtstat, ipconfig /flush and reg DNS, fixing the host file, deleting the TCP/IP stack
5)plugged in a laptop just to make sure the port was okay and everything worked.

Hi,
Is there a script when using frames that the site you go to has the Title Bar. Instead of the Title that is in the Frame Set.

Usually when you are in Frames, and you go to a different Web Site the Title stays the same all the time (not changeable unless you leave the frames)

Is there a script that when you are in Frames, and enter into another website, that the Title for that website, is displayed instead of the title of the Frames.

Thanks

I've pretty much done anything I can think of and anything I've read online. I'm sure other things were tried I just can't remember everything I've done or my team as done as we've been working on this f... Read more

Running Windows 7 Enterprise, 32-bit, I keep getting random freezes which last about 20-30 seconds, then the system always recovers. Generally, the mouse still moves, streaming music in not interrupted, but I can't do anything during these micro-freezes. CTRL-ALT-DEL is non-responsive at first, then once the task manager comes up, everything returns to normal. No abnnormal CPU usage. I have updated all the latest drivers, and have tried rolling back various component drivers to test it. Unistalled Avast antivirus and went with MS Security Essentials, and even installed the KB2265716 hotfix which described my problem. No luck. I have overclocked this system for several years with XP, but just to be safe, I returned all setting to factory once my issues with W7 started. Still, no luck. Memtest okay. I did not have this issue for the first month of installing Windows 7. It has been about 2 months that I have had this problem. In addition, my screen goes black for a second (or more) from time to time. It is not the monitor. So it could be a video card issue. One more oddity, my power setting occasionally change on their own. The only one which does this is "turn the monitor off". It swithches to "20 minutes" every few days without me changing it. Event viewer shows nothing which helps troubleshoot any of these issues. I have not updated my bios to the latest, as I have read that people have had problems with the latest bios, and revision history really only de... Read more

Hello Everyone

I'm really hoping there is someone here who can help me with what should be an easy issue. This might be something related to workgroup vs home group but I think I have that understood.

I have a windows 7 machine with the same workgroup set as my two XP machines. I then went in and set four harddrives root directories to share. Now what is weird and very frustrating is that two of the hard drives the other computers can get into just like one would expect. However the other two drives are behaving completely different. One drive it just gives a permissions error message right away. The other it lets me access one layer of folders but then gives the same message when I try to open any one of them.

It's very frustrating, I set up the sharing just with simple right click- the drive say share and "Everyone" read/write/full, so I don't understand how some can be interacting differently than others.

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance

Gary

A:LAN File Sharing "7" to "XP" Permissions issue

No solution is immediately apparent to me, but am I correctly assuming were dealing with all NTFS drives here?
And are the four hard drives on the XP machine?
Did you name each share for each drive? Try mapping the shared drive(s) that you now can not with their drive letter followed by $.

For example...

//192.168.1.20/d$

...and see what happens.

Also, make sure each machine being shared from has a password set. You can not share with a blank (non-existant) pass.

My office just upgraded, and I can no longer use Windows XP. On this system, I was able to add a separate taskbar to facilitate quick access to commonly-browsed folder locations on our vast network, and another one expedited the launching of useful programs and lists. Each task on each taskbar was represented with a big custom icon to save eye strain. I had them installed in opposite vertical margins, and they were set on auto-hide to keep them out of the way when not being used. Just move your mouse pointer to the left or right margin, and BAM! Sorry for the cliche, but I really got used to the convenience of what I had set up, and I just don't think I can be as efficient without anything comparable.

Now there appears to be nothing comparable in the Windows 7 GUI, and it's making me sick with rage! I see only the option to put a "toolbar" on an existing "taskbar", and no option to create any additional taskbars! This cramps up your one-and-only taskbar, plus the tiny toolbar access buttons require way too much precision for anything that's supposed to be quick. When you've figured out how to bring up that ridiculous button, the list that it yields is small enough to cause painful eyestrain - nothing efficient, much less cool about this at all! I have seen customization options in other OS GUIs that may have resolved some of these issues, but I see none such in W7.

I have tried every google search string that I can think of, and found... Read more

Hi,

When our website users click on an html attachment embedded on a web-page in IE9, the download manager will not display the "Open" option. It will only display "Save" and "Cancel" which our users don't like, having to save the
html document in a folder to open it. Whereas, when downloading attachments like pdf, word etc. all three options are displayed.

Is there any setting to tweak , which will display all the 3 options for HTML attachments as well?

A:IE9 download manager will not display "Open" option (only "Save" and "Cancel" is displayed) for downloading HTML documents.

Hi,
As you know, the Open-Save-Cancel dialog box helps you prevent your computer from affecting by virus while downloading.
So I suggest you test to reset all zones to a lower level temporarily and then please attempt to download this html attachment again.

However, since you can normally download the other documents, I suspect there is some restriction in the website which you are trying to view. I recommend you to contact the administrator of that website if possible.
could you please send me the link of the website from where you are trying to download the html attachment?
Thanks!

This might be related with the UAC settings, check this thread:

The steps in the above thread is not recommended.
For the short name usage, we may consider to create a directory-junction from
PROGRA~1 to C:\Program Files:
With the following commands:
mklink /J "C:\PROGRA~1" "C:\Program Files"

Hi all

I bet there is a really simple explanation as to why this is happening ...

I have just reformatted my PC and I notice now that IE6 is all of a sudden putting a - (small dash) at the end of each window title and I am wondering why that might be.

Is there some way of getting rid of it. Not that it's bothering me overly but I thought perhaps that I might like to know why it is doing it all of a sudden, and then how to get rid of it should I choose to.

I am operating on Windows XP Pro as mentioned with IE6, but none of that is new - I had just decided to give the PC a big clean up

Would appreciate any advice on this one, and look forward to hearing from you ...

Bye for now

A:IE Window Title is followed by a " - " ??

Howdy

You probably have the "Window Title" key in the registry but no value set for it...

Run regedit and navigate to...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main...

look in the right pane for "Window Title"...if you don't want the little "-" then delete the key...if you want to say something up there like "Provided by Sue Q" then right click on the key and select modify then type what you want in the box and click OK

Does anyone know if its possible to autofill the "from field" as a rule, when your in "another users /delegates" mailbox, so you dont have to add their address in the "from field"? (so it will autopopulate with their email address (and show "on behalf of")?
I hope this was clear.

thanks.

A:Solved: outlook 2007 "from field" 'on behalf of" issue

No ... its not possible if the user has more than one delegate (that has added them with the applicable rule). from that point on, they will have to choose which person they want to add to "sent" on behalf of field.

However, If they have just one (one only) user who has added them with that permission (to send on behalf of), it will auto-populate with that user.

So, It does not matter even if they are "in" a specific users mailbox (and expect the "on behalf of" to auto fill with that users name). If they have more than one delegate that has added them with that permission, they will still have to choose which user the message will sent "on behalf of"

i figured this out by trail and error etc

I started having this problem yesterday:
Whenever I am scrolling or just typing inside a MS-Word-2010 or PDF document, it's like someone is clicking with the mouse outside the window. The window menu is greyed out, and the blinking mouse cursor disappears.
In order to continue scrolling or typing, I have to click back on that window.
Sometimes it happens even while I'm typing, then I discover that some of my typing doesn't appear in the document and I have to click on the document again in order to bring back the mouse cursor into the document

I use a wireless mouse but it also happens when I turn it off and use my laptop's touchpad

2 days ago I installed a Java update and NET framework updates.
I thought about preforming a system restore but I thought maybe someone here has a clue about this problem. I had trouble searching the net for this issue, as I'm having a difficult time describing it

A:Random "mouse-clicking" or random toggle (can't find a better title)

Two common causes are dying batteries in the wireless mouse and the "Tap to Click" feature on the touchpad.

Open the touchpad's properties and uncheck the Tap to Click option and see if that helps.

If the issue just started since installing the updates then you may want to go ahead and try the System Restore.
