I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello. I have an issue with T460s Trackpad. Now I am using the t460s with minimizing the trackpad palm threshold. The driver version for trackpad pad is 19.3.4.97, and the bios version is 1.28. To check where the problem comes from, I swap the trackpad with x1 caron 3rd.x1 carbon 3rd works fine with the t460s trackpad.T460s shows the same problem. (even though it uses x1 carbon 3rd trackpad) I tried to roll back the bios; however, I was not able to roll back the bios below 1.27 version. With bios version 1.27, it shows the same problem Does anyone have the same issue with me, and solve the problem??  Thank you

We've had a Thinkpad T530 for several years.  About a year ago, the trackpad's left button began acting like a right click instead of the left click it should be and always had been.  The right button still acts as a right click.  The left trackpoint button works fine as a left click, and I can still tap the trackpad to get a left click, but I'd still like the left trackpad button to work properly. Recently, the hard drive went bad, so I installed a new ssd and a fresh copy of Windows 10.  I was hoping that would fix the trackpad button issue, but it did not.  Today, I installed the ultranav driver, but that did not fix the issue, either. Any additional ideas?

The Trackpad is unusable on my Thinkpad Yoga 260. When I try to use it it doesn't respond most of the time. Strangly though when I use the very tip of my finger it does work. To me that sounds like the palm rejection is too harsh. Also the scrolling gesture doesn't work if I place my fingers vertically. It does work if I place them horizontally). The Trackpad is from Elantech. I tried changing the driver settings, re-installing it and nothing helped. The problem with the Trackpoint is that when I try to scroll vertically using the middle button the scrolling symbol often first shows up horizontally and I need to press the trackpoint hard to get it to scroll. This all on Windows 10. I am thinking that this is all a driver issue because I tried out Ubuntu and there it works without problems also uninstalling the driver gets the Touchpad to work but the gestures don't work then. But if this is a driver issue shouldn't everyone have this problem?

Hello, I was very happy to receive my new Lenovo T460s 6 weeks ago and immediately installed Windows 10 which worked flawless from the first try.I set up Windows Hello using fingerprints of the whole family and it worked great. This week I realized that fingerprint sign-in stopped working, saying "Windows Hello isn't available on this device". So I started my search through the web and did:- Uninstalled the Synaptic WBDI device (several times)- Updated the driver for the Synaptic WBDI to the latest version 5.1.311.26 (several times)- Installed all Windows Updates- Searched the whole registry for "Hello" and "fingerprint"- Finally did a "reset" of windows keeping my files None of the above helped. There is no Lenovo fingerprint tool installed, PIN correctly configured and I tried all possible "solutions" proposed on the web... The Synaptic WBDI device seems to run fine, which makes me think that it's not the HW itself. So my questions:- How can I check that the Fingerprint reader is working?- How can I get Windows Hello back to regular operation? Thank you very much and best regards,Werner

Hi all, I just fixed my y510p from video artifacts due to a loose video cable connection, but when I put everything back together, my trackpad no longer works, and in device manager, I had an unknown device listed that was not there before. Anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas on how to fix it? I thought it may have been a cable that came loose when I was taking the computer apart, but I checked the connections to the trackpad and they're all good. Still not working though. Thanks in advance!

After a Window's update, my trackpad stopped working. After searches online for how to fix the issue, I noticed that the trackpad was completely unistalled from my computer (vs. just being disabled). I went to the Lenovo website and re-downloaded the driver, which fixed the issue..... for a few weeks. Now my trackpad stopped working again (randomly mid use...I had not restarted my computer or anything), with no further windows updates occuring. I looked and it is once again, unistalled. I tried to download the driver again, but it didn't fix the issue this time. How do I get my trackpad back installed and working?

So I booted my PC after an update the other morning and the keyboard and trackpad weren't working. I tested the brightness keys on my keyboard and they still worked so it couldn't be a hardware issue there, and my mouse still worked so it was just the trackpad that had something wrong with it. The trackpad has a driver error (code 10) but the keyboard says it's working correctly. Here's what I've tried in hopes to resolve the issues so far: -Reinstalling trackpad drivers -Uninstalling both trackpad and keyboard drivers then restarting -System Restore -Chkdsk on both drives -A trick I read on these forums where you flip the device into tent mode, then after a few seconds flip it back round to laptop mode. I am utterly confused as to what's wrong here as nothing has even slightly helped my problem. Any help?

Not sure if this is a problem on the PC or one arrising from the update.

I got my Lenovo Yoga 710 in the summer of 2016, and everything works great except for the inactive scrolling. The inactive scrolling only works when I have an external mouse attached to my laptop, in which I am able to type in one window while scrolling in another window that's inactive. However, the inactive scrolling doesn't seem to work when I am using my trackpad and not an external mouse. I have updated all of my drivers, but I just don't understand why the feature would work only with the external mouse and not the trackpad. It is rather inconvenient to carry around an external mouse when the trackpad is supposed to do the job. I am coming from a Macbook Pro and I really miss the inactive scrolling that it provided.  I would really appreciate it if someone could please help me. Thanks! P.S. I do not have any third party software installed and the inactive scrolling feature is "enabled."

Anyone else have these problems with the trackpad on their T460s on Windows 10? Any fixes? Three finger scroll stops working after sleepAfter using the trackpoint, the touchpad becomes erratic forcing me to disable the trackpoint in settings ( which is annoying since the trackpoint is one of the reasons I bought this thing! )I have installed the latest ultranav drivers ( April ) from the lenovo site but the issues remain. The release notes even say that three finger scroll has been fixed but in my case it is not.

A:T460s trackpad issues on Windows 10

I could not reproduce these issues with the latest web-release driver 19.0.17.77:

three-finger scroll works before and after sleep.  scroll down to show desktop.  scroll up to show application switcher.  scroll left/right to switch applications
I did not notice any erratic touchpad, so can you be more specific what you are doing/seeing?

These issues may be caused by non-default mouse/trackpoint/touchpad settings, so can you clarify if you have changed any settings to cause these issues?

Hi everyone, I've just received my first thinkpad - a t460s running windows 10. I'm having some difficulty configuring both the trackpoint and the trackpad, and would like some advice. You see, I feel like I'm getting inconsistent responses from both devices. Now, it's hard to describe all of what's going on, but there are three things that stand out:1. The trackpad seems to be slow most of the time, except when I make a larger move, in which case it's very quick.2. Similar behaviour for the trackpoint.3. The trackpoint is tiring to use inasmuch as it requires a lot of force to move. And yes, I always try using the absolute minimum force. Now, I could go about experimenting with the synaptics drivers for ages, except that there are so many options within the synaptics settings PLUS there are options in the microsoft settings. Combined, it's rather confusing to know where to start. Can some people who have configured their trackpad well show me how they did it? I would also appreciate some help with the trackpoint, though please forgive my slowness as I've never actually used one of these before. I bought a thinkpad on their reputation for having particularly good input devices, particularly keyboards, which is important to me as I've had RSI for years. As such, I'd really appreciate the help!

Hi there, Nmparmar          -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Can you try to:
Make sure you use the original 65W 20V/3.25A or 90W 20V4.5A AC adapter that came with the unit.

Plug the AC adapter in another wall outlet in your house (preferrably another side of the house) - if this works, the original wall outlet that you used before when you got the issue may not be properly grounded.

Perform a power drain by:a turning the PC OFF. Remove the battery & AC adapter then hold the power button for 30secs. When done, reinsert the AC adapter and battery then boot into the BIOS by pressing F2. When inside the BIOS, press F9 to reset default settings and press F10 to save and exit.

Update the Touchpad Driver below:

Update us how it goes.

Hi! I have a problem with my notebook Lenovo Z50-70 type 80E7. Bought in Estonia (Europe). The problem is that wifi does not work properly. When I boot up my notebook it cannot find any wireless networks, but they are there. All the other devices can find them and connect. When I put my notebook to sleep (close the lid) and wake it from sleep it then can find all available networks and is able to connect to them and works fine. And it is like that every time I boot my laptop. I reinstalled windows (windows 7) and installed all the drivers and installed right  version of Energy Management. Turned wifi on by pressing F7. I have it running on background and something called utility.exe is running also. I read it is needed for this too. But it is still doing the same thing. Could it be failing wifi card or maybe some settings in windows or in my router? Because I used this laptop in my other home for a day after windows installation and it worked fine, but when I got back to my first home it was acting up in the same way again. Every other device in my home works on the same wifi very well. We have 2 smartphones, 1 tablet and 1 Acer laptop and no problems with them. Only my laptop needs go to sleep and wake from it in order to use wifi. And the fact is that my laptop worked on the same wifi before it started doing this just fine. And another question. I ordered new wireless card hoping it would work better and have 5GHz wifi support. The card is:35020606NBC LV ... Read more

Hello,

I am typing this message for a friend who is having issues with her Lenovo D570 Keyboard.

It was working fine this morning and actually very recently into the night. but at 9:52 PM EST, Her keyboard started to act very unusual.

For instance when ever she types a Key, when she pushes the "I" key, it also types out I O and P.
This problem apparently affecting a ton of her other keys as well.
If she tries typing anything the keys bring up the start menu, as well as other programs such as a menu that says
"Computer Only, Duplicate, Extend, Projector Only"

There was nothing spilt on the keyboard to make it sticky, and the keys are not stuck.
We're are very curious what could be causing this problem.
If you could help explain or give us steps to fix this problem it would be very appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

A:Lenovo b570 Keyboard Not Working Properly

hi jenniby,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I believe it is the Lenovo B570 you're saying,
Try doing a power drain,
Remove AC adapter and Battery, then hold down the power button for at least 15 sec. this will drain off the power from the MOBO.

Reconnect everything and see if that works,
Also try using an external Keyboard to test out the Windows.

If that did not work I suggest Calling Lenovo Technical support for Hardware Concern.

Regards
Solid Cruver

I have an IDEAPAD-100-15IBD (though I do not think that is necessarily relevant)... There has been a new driver released for the Realtek Wireless driver in Sep 2017. This driver IS available on the Lenovo website under the driver support section. But the Lenovo Companion software that is supposed to identify updates available for this computer is not identifying that this driver is even available. Note however that the software does identify other drivers, just not this one. The way I discovered this was that there was an incompatibility that was identified with tech support and I needed to check for a new driver. Since the software did not identify this, I had to go to the website to find it. Unfortunately, the driver is still not compatible and I had to roll back the driver to an older version. But the older version is not compatible with Windows 10 OS updates. So what I need is for the software to identify once a new update is available. But for that to happen, someone needs to look at why Lenovo Companion is not identifying the current driver that is available...There is something wrong. I hope this can be seen and/or passed on to the software or process engineers behind this software or process.

The hinges on my computer were askew, so I sent my computer to the service center. After 3 weeks, they returned my computer to me and told me that the top "chassi" and the bottom cover have been replaced. Not sure what they meant, because the people that fixed my computer were not there at the store to explain it to me, but I'm assuming that it's the top and bottom cover of my computer. I was told that the hardware and the software are still intact, because they didn't have to alter anything during the reparation of my computer. The first thing I noticed when I started using my computer again is that it is very slow. It makes that "thinking" clicking sound all the time, even when I'm not using the computer (No programs/files open, long after the computer's startup). The system was VERY slow. It was laggy and irresponsive most of the time. I deleted multiple useless files and download new antivirus software to make sure that my computer is clean. The computer is no longer laggy, but the "thinking" sound is still there (it's there all the time).  The second thing I noticed is how my touchpad didn't respond to my click. I can move the cursor around perfectly fine, but I cannot click. Neither with a tap on the touchpad nor with an actual click on the touchpad. The touchpad registers my touch, but not my click :/ Does this have anything to do with the aforementioned hardware/software/harddrive/drivers? Hi! Seeking for your help. I have a Lenovo Z470. Apps run slowly so I decided to upgrade its RAM from 2GBx1 to 4GBx2. However, only 1 4GB ram works. BIOS shows that 8gb is detected but in the Computer Properties, only 4GB is shown. I've tried swapping RAM slots but still only one stick works. By the way, here the RAM specs I'm trying to use for the upgrade: 4GBx2 (SO-DIMM 1333 MHz DDR3. The processor is Intel i5 2410M. Also, after upgrade from 2GB to 4GB, my laptop's performance became faster. But after a week, it slowed down again. I also noticed that the laptop overheats. The fan does not continuously spin and is making noise. I am thinking if updating the BIOS (currently Lenovo 4ACN33WW, 05-May-11) would fix the issue. However, I can't find a BIOS update for Windows 10 64-bit.

I have a Samsung R580 laptop and the trackpad button doesn't work quite right. The button is a single piece button. The right clicking works just fine, but when I try to left click, it doesn't always work. I'll have to press really hard to get it to work. This has only started the last couple of weeks. I know that I probably shouldn't, but I take a thin knife and stick it in the crack surrounding the button and slide it back and forth a few times. This seems to fix the button momentarily, but only for a few seconds. After which, it goes right back to hardly working. I have no idea of what's wrong. I can use a mouse, but it's much more convienient to use the trackpad button. I can also use the trackpad it's self to tap which will do the same thing as clicking the button, but I keep clicking things I don't want to. Any ideas ? I don't know that the keyboard being dirty is causing it, as every other button works perfectly.

A:Trackpad Button Doesn't Work Properly

It sounds like you might actually need a trackpad repair or replacement. Are you still under warranty?

Hello helpful people!!

I hope I'm putting this in the proper section, but forgive me in advance if I did not.

My computer had been working fine up until a couple of hours ago. I have an HP dm3t notebook. Anyway, all of a sudden, my mouse started acting strange. It would highlight random things. Instead of clicking and opening something from the launch menu at the bottom of the screen, it would only grab the icon and move it around. Same thing goes for tabs in Google Chrome (I also tried it in explorer)...instead of closing or opening or switching to a tab, it grabs that tab and moves it. It takes several clicks to sort of "unstick" the cursor/mouse from whatever it just grabbed. Same behavior in Outlook, too. It also sometimes selects random areas of my wallpaper...sort of like in an editing or paint program where you are selecting an area. It takes several clicks to get it to stop.

I first thought it was my mouse (logitech bluetooth), so I removed the device. When I went to re-add it, I did get a notice that I was missing a keyboard filter driver. I also got a message that there was a problem with my bluetooth driver, however once the mouse was added....that message went away. I went to HP and downloaded two of the available keyboard drivers (one for Alps Pointing Device and one for Quick launch). I installed and restarted. The problem still remains, though I went back and checked my Device Manager and it appears that everything should be working properl... Read more

A:[SOLVED] Cursor/Pointer not behaving properly using mouse and/or trackpad

I did end up switching out my old mouse for a new one I had sitting around, but had never opened and now both my mouse and track pad are back to normal.

What tripped me up was that my track pad was acting in the same bizarre way anytime I'd use it after I used the mouse, so i thought I'd ruled out that it was solely a mouse issue. Ah, oh well. Glad it worked out!!!

So I made a thread about this specifically for just the RAM. However Lenovo recently removed the 192GB SSD a couple of weeks before I could get around to buying one (purchasing my config next week! ) and since I'm a college student (already taking advantage of their education discount) saving money on upgrades would be verrrrryyy helpful. I'm ordering my config with 4GB of RAM and a 128 m.2 SSD (not entirely sure on the SSD, if you guys can tell me how easy an upgrade of it would be I'd appreciate it). I have a rough idea of how to do it from the LinusTechTips forums but I want to make sure I'm doing it right from the forums for the laptop I'm getting lolSince I've never done anything computer hardware related before I wanted to list the steps that I'm going to take to upgrade it and if I'm missing anything (I mean it ANYTHING) or doing something that I don't need to do please let me know I don't want to break my new laptop as soon as I get it XD Starting from the day I get the laptop1) Fully charge it2) Turn the computer on and install windows3) When the set up process is complete turn it off4) Remove the back cover by unscrewing the maintenance panel screw5) Install the Crucial 4GB DDR4 SODIMM into the empty slot 6) Put the maintenance panel back, then turn on the PC to verify that the RAM is installed properly7) Use a USB to SATA connector to clone the m.2 SSD on my computer to the larger one I want to install8) Turn off the computer and remove the maintenan... A:Upgrading the Lenovo t460s

I think that if you are not experienced, buying a machine and planning to disassemble it is a bad idea.  You can easily crack the base.  The T460s has memory on the motherboard and one slot.  You would be better off getting 8gb on the motherboard and keeping the slot for future expansion.  You can add 4, 8 or 16GB later.  UEFI SSDs have several partitions and it is not simply cloning the drive.   My suggestion is to buy it the way you want it

I have a T460s with Touch display. On the driver download page, there is an Active Pen Low Battery Notifier software package available for download, which led me to believe that the Lenovo Active Pen would work with my T460s. I cannot get it to work, however, and there seems to be no manual or instructions. Should the Lenovo Active Pen work with my T460s, and if yes, how can I enable it? I don't seem to find any additional driver to download.

I'm wondering how I can take off a key without damaging it and being able clean it.

A:How Can I Remove A Key From my lenovo Thinkpad t460s

You cannot do it reliably.  If you can get something flat under it, you can pop it off, but often one of the little plastic pieces breaks off so you cannot put it back.

I have searched all forums including this one and have been unable to find a resolution to my issue.I have had my laptop (Thinkpad T460s) for just over a year now and use it for work daily. I was using it with no issue at lunch, but when I opened the lid around 3 hours later - the screen was black and the laptop seemed to be stuck in sleep mode. I tried a hard reset and now I can not even get the Lenovo post menu to show.If I press the power button, the keyboard momentarily turns on the backlighting and the power button stays illuminated, after about a minute the power button turns off. This entire time the laptop screen is completely black, I don't see the Lenovo post menu and therefore have no acces to the BIOS or OS.I have tried using the hardware reset button on the bottom of the laptop, removing the 2 discreet batteries, removing the CMOS battery, removing all batteries and resetting the RAM. None of this has gotten me any headway on resolving this issue. I am going to try contacting technical support but am hoping someone may help me find a quick and simple resolution to this issue.
