Lenovo yoga 710 - Error code 0xc000000d

Q: Lenovo yoga 710 - Error code 0xc000000d

I recently brought a lenovo laptop through amazon and when I was updating my new laptop to windows 10, the error code 0xc000000d appears. I researched the error code and found that I am to reinstall windows 10 in order to reboot the device, either through a usb or a disc. However, how do I reinstall the windows 10 onto a disc or a usb? Additionally, is it the laptop's fault or is just windows 10 update that has caused this problem? If its the laptop's fault, then I will probably return the laptop. Thank you in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We have an Acer Aspire S3-391-6046 and one day it suddenly, after the Acer logo screen, started displaying:
Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.

File: \BCD
Error code: 0xc000000d

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or a USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer

Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings

We have a recovery drive made but it will not boot from the drive, and when we press Esc nothing happens. In fact nothing happens when any keys are pressed. After about a minute of being on it shuts down again. Any suggestions on how to fix this, or force it to launch from the recover drive we made?

~Thanks in advance~

My computer rebooted after a Windows 10 update, and when I logged in, it was terribly slow. I left it but nothing, then Windows crashed. So I rebooted, same.  I shift-restarted to get startup options, and tried doing a system restore. It failed. I tried another, it failed. Repair didn't work. Then I tried booting again but it has the BSOD error "Recovery: Your PC/device needs to be repaired, unexpected error code 0xc000000d". Now, I've created a Windows 10 recovery USB stick using my laptop and put it into the machine, but selecting Repair doesn't work. The error message suggests it's a boot sector problem. I'd rather not do a Reset and wipe my machine. Ran the HP system scan and it shows no errors. Any suggestions?

When I tried to boot my laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad S210) it displayed the message "Recovery Your PC needs to be repaired. The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer. Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings". My laptop came preloaded with Windows 8.1, so I don't have any installation media. I copied the Boot folder from a Windows 7 64-bit recovery disc onto a USB drive since the IdeaPad S210 doesn't have a disc drive. Now I can't figure out how to boot from the USB.

Hi hai-kai,

Welcome to the Community Forums.
BCD Error code: 0xc000000d would easy to fix using a recovery media ,

But since you were not able to create one initially, then best check on your warranty if it is still active and call in tech support for further options.

By the way you can fix it within 20-30 minutes using lenovo Factory reset using the NOVO button. (page 5 , 25 )
That would surely delete everything on the system and you need to reinstall them back.
This should be a final option.
You may slave your harddrive to back up first or use a bootable rescue disc to transfer files .

Same as booting to BIOS .
Turn off ps and use the same Novo button to turn on , choose BIOS set up
You can change the BOOT to legacy from UEFI and boot priority to the USB, and check you the USB would be detected as boot option . On exit tab , save changes and exit or F10 . restarts.
Restarting then tapping F12 can also lauch the boot manager to repair BCD files .

I would suggest running full diagnostics if you were able to boot back to Windows to check for your harddrive integrity , if its not the main cause of the error code in the first place .

Hope that this help reolve the problem.
Have us updated on how it goes too.

Regards,

Today the Lenova did a forced update and told not to turnoff computer because it was updating and you see the procent completed. It past through everything and then restarted. Then it when crazy. strange texts on the screen with background nature image and strange sounds as the computer was writing text strs and lines. like this ---***-*--*------. Then it died. Then I restarted and I now it has a blue scrren with that error code. Looking for my windows cd I remember at the store they only gave me the one for ASUS and said that I only need one. Hello,
Recently my computer has been shutting down without warning. I could be doing anything from playing far cry 4 to browsing the web. I looked into the event viewer and found the following error: 0xc000000d. I've looked into it but it sounds like everyone else who has that same issue can't start their computer at all, but i can boot my computer just fine. My computer just shuts down randomly. i also found another error: %%-2147467259. I did a memory test and that came out with no issues. It's definetly not overheating as i'm getting temperatures of 21 celcius. Also, I'm not very familiar with the even viewer so i have no clue if i'm looking in the right place. I'm pretty sure i get the same order of events before it shuts down. Any help would be great!!

I have a Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 running Windows 8.1. When I attempted to update the operating system to Windows 10, there was an error (I'm not sure what exactly the error was, or what caused it, as I was not monitoring it at the time) and now the tablet will not boot to any operating system. When I turn it on it says: "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart." Then, it restarts, and loads a page that says: "Recovery // Your PC couldn't start properly. // A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. // Error code: 0xc0000225 // You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer."

I have done some research and it appears that I will need to create a USB recovery drive, but I am not confident in exactly how to do that in a way that will work on my tablet. I am not partial to any particular operating system (between Windows 8.1 and 10), I just need a functioning tablet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently restarted my laptop as I do often, and now,out f nowhere,  it won't boot back up. First the laptop displays "to interupt normal startup, press enter"Then it says "preparing automatic repair" on a splash screen. Then I get the blue recovery page, the error code: 0xc0000225 and a list of options to try. None of the options seem to work, they either restart the computer or just flash back to the options screen. When I hit enter or F12 to interrupt normal boot, it beeps once, and then just freezes until I hold power to shutdown. I made a bootable windows recovery drive, but don't know how to boot into it as I can't access any menu besides the one above.I uploaded a picture of the repair screen. Hopefully it is accessible.

Hi guys,

I want to install Windows 7 64bit for now and just leave W8 in a partition I will not look at.
So i partition off the data drive ASUS left for me and give a fat 200GB+ for a Windows 7.

I get the following when I try to boot from via EFI menu and even through the BIOS to go EFI from USB:

Not sure what information you great people will require but here is the disk management view of the hard disk:

and further below, printscreens of bootx64.efi location and the cmd commands:

Could this problem be caused due to having a 2.0 USB stick in USB 3.0? There aren't any USB 2.0s on this machine unfortunately (never thought i would say that :O )?

Thank you all in advance,

Using a USB Pendrive on a PC with a uEFI BIOS.
USB Pendrive need to be formated to FAT32 as in
UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows
Take note of Step 11 for Windows 7.

If using a USB 3.0 port, you will also need to slipstream in the USB 3.0 drivers in to the ISO, using the APP in this tutorial:
Slipstream Windows 7 SP1 into a Installation DVD or ISO File - Windows 7 Forums

You can install Windows 7 x64 in dual boot first or second.

Every time I try to wake my Lenovo G570 laptop from manual hibernation I get the following message:

“Windows Resume Loader

Info: A fatal error occurred processing the restoration data.

File: \hiberfil.sys

Your computer will be rebooted. Any information that was not saved before the computer went into hibernation will be lost.

Pressing enter lets me boot as normal.

I've tried disabling and enabling hibernation via the command prompt command: powercfg -h on/off but the problem persists.

This problem started after I ran chkdsk when trying to fix a boot problem that occurred after experiencing a BSOD (on two occasions it got stuck on the "Starting Windows" splash screen when booting). This chkdsk did fix some errors.

I've ran a memory test and a System File Check but neither has reported any problems.

I'm not sure if this is related to this hibernation problem, but a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION BSOD crash occurred today.

If I turn on CSM and choose the UEFI flash drive it goes further, loads the windows instillation files then starts playing the win 7 loading animation but freezes half way through.

I read somewhere that I may have to slipstream the USB 3.0 drivers into the ISO, but I am not sure if that is relevant to this case?

Any help would be great, I have been at this for a few hours now without any advancement.
EDIT:

In the end I just went into CSM, set everything I could to legacy mode, and turned the USB into a standard windows 7 bootable, it installed without a hitch and as far as I am aware, by not using UEFI i only miss out on fastboot and booting from +2TB HDD's.. non issues with my laptop

Hello, Two times in the last two days, the following has happened: I unplug my computer from the power cord, and then the screen sort of splits so that the main content of the screen is still mostly there but is overlain by a copy of the screen flying around really quickly. It sort of looks like you are in a subway train passing really quickly by thousands of posters of the screen, but the window you are looking out is also a translucent image of the same thing.I took a video of it the second time, but unfortunately I was on the website for my bank, and you can read all of the account numbers so I can't share the video. Yesterday afternoon my Lenovo did a hardware scan and gave me the error code: WCP03E000-UN7DCG, which I can't figure out the meaning to. This preceded the initial event by about an hour. If anyone knows what is going on, I would appreciate the help. Thanks

If the setting is OK, then...

Here is info about UEFI Boot Mode (installing using the GPT partition style) and Legacy BIOS Boot Mode (installing using the MBR partition style): link

A:Surface Blue Screen Error : 0xc000000d

The Surfaces are glued together, so opening them up to fix anything is not practical for most people.  At work we just send them to Microsoft for an exchange.

The 0xc000000d error is STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER.  What this means is that "An invalid parameter was passed to a service or function."
Basically this means that something was messed up and the data that it sent caused the system to crash.

Complete error details:

It logs me in, displays the contacts and offline messages, if any, then after about 10 seconds it crashes with the above error.

As a side note, when I cancel above to enter debug operation, nothing happens (except that the application closes).

I tried re-installing YM and I get the same error, only in this location.

Hello,

I'm trying to do a clean install of windows ultimate x64 on my dell Inspiron 20 3043 via USB on a new ssd.

So, this is a new machine. I pulled the disk drive and installed a new sandisk ultra 128gb ssd.

The bios is InsydeH20 version A04

When I boot up and choose uefi USB I install, It goes straight to the a black screen with windows boot manager, error 0xc000000d. I can't even get the windows install screen.

I've read as many forum threads as I can and I've done the following.

I created the USB using Rufus 1.4.0
GPT partition
fat32
default cluster size

(if I use any mbr option, the bios won't recognize the USB drive)

What am I missing!? I have 2 brand new ssd's (both sandisk ultra 128). With one I played w every option from using diskpart to disk management. There's several threads suggesting how to set up the ssd via windows install, but I haven't even gotten that far.

Ultimately, I'd like to duel boot windows 7 & 8 (since... the new computer is basically a giant tablet).

I'm posting here after hours of frustration. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I turned on my Dell XPS L702X this morning and Windows would not load. I get an error message in Windows Boot Manager ( 0xc000000d ) asking me for the Windows installation disc which I no longer have.

I have searched for solutions online and it seems that installation files can be downloaded onto a USB drive - but it seems that this is only for Windows 8, not Windows 7.

I cannot access Safe Mode.

I did not add or modify anything on the laptop in recent days / weeks. The battery was running low and I did not shut down the laptop - but I have done this many times before without causing an error like this.

Can someone help with this please?

I have downloaded an installation file for Windows 8.1 but I suspect that this will not work as my PC is Win 7. As well as that, the product key for Windows on the underside of my laptop is no longer readable.

Is there any way I could pay for an upgrade to Windows 8 and install that without losing data?

Thanks a lot - I really do appreciate any help on this!

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 (Anniversary Update - Build 14393.693) clean installed on  a Yoga 2 Pro (20266 / 80AY) BIOS 76CN43WW. The "Lenovo Yoga  Mode Control" version 2.0.0.9 (ymc.exe) has consistently crashed every day for the last few months. Crash reports are logged. Are there any plans to fix this issue any time soon? Best Regards,

This has begun happening roughly 1-2 weeks ago, prior to this the system ran flawlessly (never had a BSOD)

The strangest thing is that the BSOD started happening right after a windows update, and an install of MSE (never had it before this)

I have tried many different tests and fixes to try and solve this issue myself, but to no avail.

-Ran Memtest with 2x2Gb 1600 + 2x4Gb 1066 \ no errors
-Removed 2x4Gb 1066 \ no errors
(current modules are 2?2 Corsair DDR3 1600 (installed) / 2?4 G.Skill DDR3 1066 (removed))
-Ran Chkdsk \ complete
-Installed new Heatsink (Speedfan was giving me false temp readings, the CPU temp was not the issue / Current temps are roughly min:36 max:69 per Prime95)
-Several clean installs of various recent video drivers
-Checked PSU connections to hardware
-Cleaned dust from hardware

All-in-all the BSOD issue takes longer after troubleshooting to occur, but still occurs very frequently. I am wondering if my Raidmax 680w PSU is to blame, but I cannot be sure because I have no replacement hardware to test this.

A:BSOD while playing GPU intensive programs, Common 0xC000000D error

I would like to add an additional note here, that now it would seem that when the computer freezes/hangs, the system is still functioning (sounds/keypresses (i know because i had a VoiP program running and it was still working and responding when the screen was black), the system DOES manage to recover the video driver for roughly 1-5 seconds before completely freezing (no sound, frozen screen and requires force restart)

The strange part of this is that when the system prompts me prior to loading windows for the typical Safe Mode, start normally etc. that entire screen is messed up, flashing, going black, and distorted and not properly displaying.

I had the same error report and still run MSC
Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D
The way I resolved the issue was to delete one file
(You will need to alter folder options to view file)
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Client\Support\EppOobe.etl
Deleted file left in recycle bin and rebooted
Checked event viewer again problem no longer there
Emptied recycle bin again rebooted
No problems on system since
Running 100%

A:Error lenovo yoga 520

Hi Andry26,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you need to back up files and have you created your recovery media?

Boot error may be a system file issue or a hardware failure depending on the actual case. If you have an active warranty then call in tech support so they would be able to provide a recovery drive to attempt repair else check if the harddrive detected in the BIOS.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

I'm trying to restore my Windows 7 64bit machine to its factory settings at the moment, and I've tried the following but they've all failed.

1.) Boot up and hit F8, select Repair computer, but then it just boots Windows normally.

2.) Create System Repair Disc, and from BIOS boot-up, choose boot from DVD-RW, but when it does that and loads Windows files, Error 0xc000000d and winload.exe missing comes up.

3.) When I tried to insert the installation disc that came with my computer, it's not recognized and nothing happens (during boot from DVD-RW).

*Note - Just today when I tried to do a system restore, it said that I had no previous restore points, but I just restored a week ago, so that might add some info.

Any help please? I'm not too computer savvy so sorry.

Computer is Alienware by the way.

A:After booting System Repair Disc, error 0xc000000d winload.exe missing

Hello Fanahtic Welcome to the Seven Forums!

My first guess which is likely to be the same as many would be the optical drive is where to begin as well as checking the disks for any scratches or finger marks from handling.

If the repair cd was simply a bad burn that would explain part of the problem when booting from it. The install/repair disk that came with the system might be a bad disk as well. That can happen where an OEM disk or even new media is simply a useless coaster.

Despite all that however if the drive is loaded up with dust and needs a len cleaning those are found in the dvd player, tv sections at any Target, Best Buy, Walmart, or other retail chein for a few bucks.

Or you might simply have to replace the drive itself if the lazer reader is now history if no other media is able to read from or burned to like a data disk. I just had to replace one of the two optical drives used on the present system due to some problems and put in a 7yr. old optical drive and all worked well! After a few years of use they can go on you.

I recently acquired this laptop, and upon start up a notification popped up stating: Recovery Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.File:\Widows\system 32\winload exe.Error code: 0xc0000225So, that is basically it. I would liketo know what that code signifys, and what I can do to rectify the problem.                                                                                                                                                 Thank you, CJ01
