I was recently given 2 AIO computers from a local charity group to try and repair that both have the same problem. They seem to start but the screen remains black on both no cursor or anything. I will list what I have done and this will be on both of them.Replaced ram with known good ones.Removed the CMOS battery for 15 minCleared BIOS with jumper (battery in)Tried tapping F10 for 8 seconds then arrow down twice and hit Enter twice.A hard reset unplugged and held in power button for a couple minutes I see an HDMI port on both but I believe this is an input port?? I have read about reflashing the BIOS on a 23-d010ea and was wonder if this is what might be needed??That article is here CLICK HERE toward the bottom of the page.Any help is apreciated!!Read other answers
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I need to update my Intel HD Graphics 4600. I've learned recently that I need to update above Intel driver system. Another software company gave me the link to the new Intel Driver, but on trying to install I get the message ....The Driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate upgrade driver from the computer manufacturer.... So I need to know where can I download the driver I need? ASAP! Thanks so much. I just bought a new HP ENVY Touchsmart, and the website that I bought it from says that it has the capability to display a gaming system (i.e. PS3, xBox, etc.). I cannot get my gaming system to display, nor can I get any of the four buttons on the right-side of the AIO to do anything. Whenever I press any of those buttons or turn on a system that is plugged in to the HDMI port, nothing happens. Is this a hardware issue, or was the website that I bought it from incorrect? This page has a description of the whole computer. Scroll down to "I/O Port" and click on "Right I/O Ports". That is the HDMI and the controll buttons that I am refering to. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04085179 Plese help! Thanks!

About a month or so ago we noticed that our all in one touchscreen was recording repetitive clicks along a vertical line just right of the upper middle part of the screen. I have temporarily disabled the driver through device manager to make the PC usable, however I would like to maintain the touchscreen capability. The issue is most noticeable at the windows login screen and on the desktop although it affects other applications if there are buttons in the range of the phantom clicks. I have found similar issues through the forums but they seem to be focused on the touchscreen laptops. I am starting to feel like this is mainly a hardware issue (faulty touchscreen) but am hoping otherwise. I purchased this computer in 2014 and the warranty is up. I have tried to find outlets for replacement parts with no luck. Has anyone had this issue or can direct me to a solution? Thank you!Read other answers
I have a Envy23 AIO ToichSmart... My PC quit booting up (black screen)... I tried changing memory, motherboard, and scalar card... Still will not boot up...I have 8 GB memory in it...For troubleshooting purposes... I tried different memory..2 GB... The machine boots up... If I put in 4 GB memory or the same memory 8 GB 1600 that the computer came with... It will not boot up... Why is memory size now an issue ? What do I need to replace to get my computer running normally again ?Please help
What about the 8Gb memory, have you tried testing it with perhaps another PC?Chances are that the 8Gig memory is not working as it sould and causing problems with POST.If the PC had an issue then the 2Gb Memory would also not work.Read other 1 answers

Hi - my desktop has been running slow lately with a lot of low virtual memory warnings. I've tried numerous antivirus/malware programs to see if it was infected. Ran check disk scan/repair and restarted the computer. That's when I encountered the black screen issue. Tried the 'windows logo + b power button for 2 or 3 seconds' hint with no luck. The power light is on and the drive light is flickering as if working but nothing happens. Checked monitor connection and OK. Is the hardware corrupted beyond repair? I shut down the computer last night and when I tried turning it on this morning the screen stayed black. No matter what I do, trying to restart, pressing F2 repeatedly etc., it just doesnīt do much but change the on button light from on to not on... The notebook is just 2 weeks old! So far itīs been fine, the only issue I found was with the battery time when itīs in sleep mode - it seems to drain that quickly. I let it charge for a few hours and tried again - no change. Should I return it to the store? If so, how can I wipe my information from it? Thanks!Read other answers
Oftentimes when I turn my laptop on, the machine turns on but the display is blank/black. Drive light blinks and the power button is lit but the screen shows no sign of function. It also does this when I close my laptop and it goes into sleep. Tried hard reset a hundred times, and sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. Sometimes prepairing automatic repair shows up, and when I choose go to home menu, it turns black again. I've also tried choosing the restart selection, and the same happens. I have also updated the graphics card and to the latest Windows 10 update and it seems to have made no difference. I've tried so many things but nothing is making a lasting change. On Friday, I updated my Envy 20 to Windows 10. Once the update was finished my computer started up fine, however, my antivirus software (AVG) said there was an update and I needed to restart. I did so and after the restart and HP logo screen I had a black, bu luminescent screen. After a maybe ten minutes of the screen staying like this, I held the power button down to turn the computer off and then restarted it with no problems. I turned it off Friday night normally and it ran normally all day Saturday. This morning (Sunday) when I turned the computer on the power light came on and I could hear the fans turn on, but the screen remained black. Just black, not even a luminescent black like when I did the antivirus restart. I tried a hard restart like before but nothing changed. I left the computer on like that for around an hour and nothing changed. Figuring it was maybe a heat issue, I opened up the case and dusted the fan and the heat sink but the problem remains. Any ideas on what's next?

Hello, yesterday when I tried to run my laptop the screen stayed blank and the caps lock was blinking. It blinked 3 times and then had a short paused and continued to blink again. I had access to all of the button and could use FN F5 to turn the keyboard lights on. Thank you!
Hi there @Cryptonix, Before I provide troubleshooting documentation, I would like to take a minute to welcome you to the HP Support Community, where you can ask questions, find solutions and get help from others in the community! You had mentioned the caps lock light blinks 3 times, but nothing appears on the screen. Generally speaking, LEDs blinking 3 times means that the Memory Module is not functional. Please follow the instructions in the Notebook memory failure section to try and resolve the issue. If the Notebook comes back on, please try to do a Hardware Test. HP provides diagnostic software that you can use to test hardware components on your computer; to rule out or confirm hardware failures when something is wrong. Thanks for participating in the HP Forums where we want to help you as well as others who may be wondering what it means when the Caps Lock LED blinks 3 times. I have a HP Envy 23 which worked perfectly on Windows 8.1 but then I installed Windows 10 and immediately got issues. Straight away the email and calendar functions didn't work. I clicked on the icon but nothing happened. I thought that there must have been an issue with the upgrade so I tried to re-install windows 10. It got part way through the update and then stopped with the message "there has been a problem with the update -please re-start and then re-install Windows 10 again".I tried to do that but when I powered up the computer again I just get a black screen. I can hear the fan going but there is no HP logo and the screen just stays black. I have been on your forums and have tried several of the ideas to reset the bios but nothing has worked. Is there anything else I can try. We have a lot of family photos of my children on the hard drive which we desperately don't want to lose. I've had this Envy 15 for the last four or five years, and recently it's started playing up. The screen keeps flickering; not a constant thing, but every few minutes it flickers black a few times. Sometimes it clears up, sometimes it goes completely black for upwards of ten seconds before recovering. The rest of the computer isn't affected; audio still runs without a hitch. When it goes black, I can see a flickering vertical line of red pixels near the right edge of the screen. It seems to happen more often when running games, or when there are several windows open. My display drivers are all up to date.Read other answers
I'm not too sure what is the problem with my girlfriend's computer, it was working perfectly fine for the past 3 years we've had it but all of a sudden when she came home and tryed to wake it up from sleep mode, it was just a black screen...we then proceeded to reset the computer and unplugged the power cable from the back and let it sit for a little over an hour. I came back thinking maybe the computer just overheated or something and it needed to cool down but instead every single time I turn it on...the light on the top goes on, i hear the fans start up like it normally would if there were no problems but the screen is just black and doesnt change...i even let it sit like that for a good hour or so and nothing seemed to happen. I read on other HP forums to try to press F10 as the computer starts up to open BIOS but my keyboard won't even light up or work. Does anyone have a fix for this? Is it internal or what? I thought maybe it would be something wrong with the MOBO but i would think if it was, it wouldnt even turn on at all...I appreciate any responses, Thanks. Haven't updated the laptop since last December, so I decided to go ahead and look at the updates available. They were mostly security updates and just normal x64 Windows 8.1 updates, but I noticed that 2 of them were graphics drivers (for both the different graphics cards.) I started downloading the updates with the laptop plugged into the television so I could watch something whilst it was updating. 20 minutes or so through the programme I was watching (from the laptop), the video stopped and the video on the television was lost (it was through HDMI if that helps). I looked at the laptop, and it was a bit strange. The video was in full screen mode but the task bar had suddenly appeared and then the screen went black. I figured it had probably started installing the graphics updates, but it has been black for 35 minutes now and I am too afraid to turn it off. I have tried unplugging the HDMI from the laptop, and pressing f4 many times. I do not think it has overheated as I have a cooler it is sitting on that is turned on. The laptop sounds and looks like it is functioning, but the screen is not showing anything. Thanks for any helpSpoiler (Highlight to read)
I do hope you created a usb recovery flashdrive with the HP recovery media creator. You need to locate your usb recovery flashdrive, plug it into a usb port and boot to it. You need to use Windows system restore to rollback your Windows operating system to a restore point dated before you started the updates. That should resolve your issue. If you did not create a usb recovery media, there are ways around it, but they are more involved.Read other 1 answers

We had a storm and my Internet model made a pop sound. I smelled a burnt rubber smell and the modem went dead. My laptop was connected and also connected to a monitor. The laptop was working, but there was no signal to the monitor so I decided to reboot the laptop. The burnt smell came from the modem which has since been replaced. When I attempted to restart the laptop the screen remained black, fan was quietly running, and it shutdown after 30 seconds. Nothing appears on the screen and no beeps or sounds. The only led lights on are the power button, orange wifi button, power light, and adapter light. I have cleaned the fan and changed the thermal paste, removed RAM cards and tried starting with one card, followed troubleshooting suggestions with pressing on power button for 30 seconds after removing battery and power adapter. Longtime HP laptop owner, I think I've owned nearly 10 of them since the late 90s and have become loyal to HP laptops like many "Apple people" are to their Macs, Iphones, etc and my loyalty was increased after "cheating" on HP and buying ONE Dell laptop (seemed to be a deal too good to pass up at time, bad move!) So, when I recently was ready to do a "Dell Dumping", I clicked the HP box for the brand on my first searches, didn't even want to bother with other brands unless NOTHING looked good and then saw this HP Envy, which I liked for being so thin AND had a backlit keyboard, something I've never had and always kicked myself for not insisting on after buying as I use them often when I'm in bed and not only did this one have a backlit keyboard, its a well lit keyboard and I was SO happy with this new HP! Also should mention this was a "refurbished" laptop bought through Monoprice, I saw the exact same model being sold as refurbished through several sellers and I'm contacting Monoprice next to see if that meant it was an HP refurb unit or Monoprice or some 3rd party job, this was my first refurb laptop or really anything, but have a couple of friends who've sworn by refurbs, for laptops and other electronics. Then, it happened! I believe I had to restart the laptop after it sat on my desk for a while and I didn't know the power strip was off, so I restart it like normal and all I get is the black screen with the blue circular HP logo in the middle with the spinning ... Tonight I decided to do a little maintenance on my HP ENVY 17-j184na, and the first thing I started with was the F.68 Rev.A BIOS. I used the Use HP Download and Install Assistant to manage the whole thing. Everything seemed to go well, and I was presented with a BIOS like screen which confimed the BIOS flash was successful. The laptop then appeared to restart and a black screen was shown. I left the laptop for 30 minutes and it got no further. So, now when I power on the laptop the fan whirls, and the caps lock light flashes (2 flashes then 53 second pause), and thats it. I have tried the following:Take the battery out, unplug from ac, hold down power button, wait 5 minutes, turn onHold down "windows key + B" whilst pressing the power button for 8 seconds - letting go of the power button after 3 secondsRepeatedly tapping "esc" key after pressing the power buttonPlugging in an external monitor and doing all of the aboveNothing has worked. My perfectly fine laptop is now a very expensive paperweight as it is out of warranty. Feels pretty terrible to have done a simple BIOS update and have this happen. Can someone please help me? I am out of ideas...
Fixed it myself... ...took the back panell off, unplugged the CMOS battery for 5 minutes. Plugged it back in and switched it on. The screen flashed a bit and then came on. Result!Read other 1 answers
Still no luck. It turns on with no prompts or beeps and black screen, then shuts off after about 30 seconds. This happens with the battery or adapter plugged in. This computer is only 1.5 yrs old and off warranty. Very disappointing. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I do not have a technical background, but I am good with instructions.Read other answers
So my laptop was running slow and extremely laggy and basically overall annoying. I ran a factory reset on it and all was well, it took time to clear and time to prepare everything (all while plugged up and charging) then after a while, it stopped ehat it was doing, turned to a black screen with the dots spinny wheel logo thing and it never returned after that. After hours of waiting, I got pissed and turned it off using the power button on the laptop. I turned it back on, it booted up with the HP logo, spinny wheel, then it returned to that same page.I let the battery run until it died last night and turned it on this morning (while plugged up) and it had an "installing windows", screen and now its back to that stupid black screen. What am I supposed to do???Read other answers
My pc would not load and was only showing a blue screen with either of two errors -wdf_violation and registry_error and trying to fix or update windows and nothing. I then fumbled with the esc key while restarting and got to the HP image restore option. It asked to insert DVD +R to backup, but would not backup with even a few files. I opted to restore without backup. Everything seemed fine, I removed every peripherals and left only my keyboard and mouse as instructed. They are wireless. Now the computer restarted but all I am seeing is a black screen and nothing. The power button is on, I tried cold booting, and nothing. I unplugged the power cord and turn on again, and nothing. Please help. I did not create the recovery disks.Read other answers
Hi, I have an HP Envy 23-d010ea, which doesn't boot - at all. It switches on when pushing the power button, and doesn't react to any input, then restarts after about 60 seconds or so. I've read many posts addressing this issue, and tried all the proposed solutions. In particular I've tried- different keyboards, it's own, and others connected through USB - all USB slots. (btw not one LED switches nor flashes on the keyboard!)- hard reset (15 seconds power button while having disconnected everything).- switching it on with Windows button+B pushed down, in order to restore a previous BIOS, in case it's corrupted. Everything has failed. Can I mention that Windows 10 was recently installed (upgrade) on this machine, and I was merely doing a restart, aiming at reinstalling Windows 7 on it from scratch. Please Help!Appreciate all the input. Many Thanks!Read other answers
