Q: Thunderbolt Dock 3 display issues

Issue 1I purchased the ZBook Studio G3 + 2 months wait on the Thunderbolt 3 Dock to primarily connect 2 4K Samsung monitors. When connected via the display port one will display at 4k while the other will only display @ 2560X1440. I had bought a a couple of CableMatters thunderbolt 3 X display port adapters while waiting on the dock. If I plug one of the monitors in using the adapter and the other into the display port both will display 4K.Anybody else having this issue? Issue 2After the computer goes to sleep only one monitor will wake up. The NVDIA control panel still shows both connected. Only way to get the second monitor awake is to shutdown and reboot. Issue 3I have the displays configured to go blank after 1 hour. Once this occurs and I enter my password all of my open programs are displayed on one screen rather than on both. This would be normal if you have undocked and re-docked a laptop. Issue 4If the laptop is opened while docked. One display goes blank and one is duplicated with the laptop screen. This is not typical docked behavior. I moved from an Elitebook 8540W with dock. I'm really questioning my whether this was an upgrade.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Hi All,  I recently got two 1920x1080 monitors and have been attempting to hook them up to my Thunderbolt 3 dock and X1 Carbon with no success. All firmware has been updated, and the dock detects each display individually, when the other is disconnected and reconnected. Everything else works on the dock with no issues.  Thanks.

I used the Lenovo System Update (v5.07.0074) and was prompted to download and install (was listed as Critical Update) the Firmware to my Dock.  As always, I closed all applications and sat as the Firmware downloaded. I got the expected prompt to ensure I was plugged in. I then watched as the upgraded prompted me to install. Installation completed and everything appeared to be fine.  I powered down the thinkpad and disconnected. Worked from the living room, then went back to the dock. Connected, and noticed that before I connected the White light on the power button was illuminated. Shrugged, and pushed the power button. Nothing. I un-plugged the Dock, got a cup of coffee, returned and plugged it back in. Nothing. I then noticed that none of the pass-through power was working on the dock.  So, I unplugged it again.  Unplugged everything connected to it, and held the power button down for 15 seconds in an effort. All of this at the recommendation of Lenovo Support. Who, by the way, was very nice and well spoken. Nothing we did worked. I happened to have another Thunderbolt 3 cable in my bag, and no change. I powered up my new X1 Yoga, and connected the cable. No power. This wasn't passing power at all. I confirmed the Intel Thunderbolt app was running, and confirmed that Windows was not even detecting the Dock.  Lenovo is sending me a replacement. Currently have an X1 Carbon 5th Gen - 20HR, that is experiencing susbtantial issues with the Thunderbolt dock now.  I'll start with some initial info to set the stage. -----------------------X1 Carbon 5th Gen - 20HR Machine TypeWindows 10 Pro - 1903 - build 18356.21Thunderbolt 3 dock, dual Display (thinkvision P24Q), one hdmi and one display portAll updates for windows and lenovo, using thinkvantage tool.  Including latest thunderbolt firmware deployed yesterday (v.17.0.0.1).Problem device - PCI-to-PCI bridge - version 10.0.18356.1----------------------- Symptoms.Starting about 3 weeks ago, started experiencing an issue where by if I start the laptop off the dock, and plug in to the dock, none of the USB devices connected to the dock will work.  The displays work fine, but none of the USB devices do.  Such as camera, keyboard/mouse, external HD, etc. Upon opening device manager, I will always see a PCI-to-PCI bridge device in a non functional state, stating the driver has failed, subsequent attempts to update driver or completely uninstall all PCI-to-PCI bridge devices and rediscover them won't work.  Nothing fixes the issue but a reboot with the dock connected. Even with the dock functional, I now experience a strange issue whereby one of the two monitors will randomly flash (meaning go black and than almost immediately come back on). If I start the laptop on the dock, disconnect, and reconnect, I still have the same issues.&... I just started having this problem today.  Updated to the latest firmware a few days back on this 150w Thunderbolt Dock P5Q58UT#ABA per the e-mail "Critical Driver Alert - Apr 12 2017 HP Thunderbolt 3 Dock Firmware (ver 1.12 Rev.A)".  Today when plugging in my secondary display is corrupted.  To note I have two of the same docks, one at home and one at work with different monitors in each location.  I'm getting the same issue in both locations.  I don't think two docks went bad and the thunderbolt ports appear to be functioning.  Is there a way to rollback the firmware on these docks to see if that's the issue?   If not what are the next steps to resolve, any advice?  The normal troubleshooting steps on HP.com don't appear to address this.  Pics attached.

After naviging through HPs cryptic support website I found one firmware that was out of date.  After I updated the  Thunderbolt 3 Dock firmware the monitor started working right for now.  We will see...

Hey There We have bought 15 Studio G3s and docks to go with them We have ran into issues with about 40% of the docks. Not sure if its the docks or laptops causing the issues. One laptop tries 3 diffrent docks, USB and Ethernet wont work. Another laptop will randomly BSOD, if the dock is even touched it will BSOD as well. I've gone though all the posts about these issues from last summer but nothing really seems to help. Is there a newer fix that I am missing somewhere? Thanks Josh

Hi There, I'm having trouble with a Lenovo P52 with a Thinkpad Thunderbold 3 Dock. When I Conect my dock to my laptop it wil ask if i want to allow it. (It always asks strangely. Even if its in managed Thunderbolt devices.)  After pressing ok the problems start.-Shortcuts are flickering on the Desktop and in the taskbar.-Not being charged-No Mouse & Keybourd-No Ethernet.-External screen does work but with above problems. Additional information:-With only the powercord and usb-c into the Lenovo Laptop and nothing else in the dock it stil gives the same problems.-Tried with difirent cables.-Tried other Docks but same problem. (Docks that work with other Lenovo laptops)-It works somtimes. once every 5-10 tries. But fail right after trying again.-No Faults in Lenovo center. Product information:Lenovo Vantage InfoLenovo Thinkpad Thunderbold 3 DockModel Number: DBB9003L1 I have updated the most drivers that would be needed for the thunderbolt & Lenovo but nothing seems to work. I am having an issue with the Thunderbolt 3 dock with my Gen 5 X1 (20HR). Upon purchasing the correct replacement (Lenovo Recommended)  cable for length reasons. I cannot use the dock. The port one the dock heats up and the cable cycles on and off. Thus giving me undesired results. I've tried 3 different cables now and still the same results. The computer acts as if I've disconnected and reconnected the cable over and over. Until it is disconnected. What should we do?

We are currently using Lenovo T480 laptops with ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Docks (Model 40AC0135US) in our office and frequently encounter the following issues: ? When a user connects their T480 to the dock, their monitors do not display any video? When a user connects their T480 to their dock, their monitors will display video, but USB peripherals (keyboard, mouse) do not work? When disconnecting from a dock, the charging light on the T480 stays lit and Windows shows the laptop is still connected to power and charging? External displays flicker intermittently When a user experience issues with their dock, the only way to get things working again is to shut down the computer, disable the internal battery in the BIOS, and then plug the T480 into the dock and turn it on. However, the issue eventually returns and we have to repeat the steps again. We have also tried the following steps, but continue to see issues:? Run Lenovo System Update and install all driver, bios, and dock firmware updates? Replaced Thunderbolt cable? Change the Thunderbolt Security Level in bios to No Security and Uninstall Thunderbolt Software Most of our laptops are running Windows 10 1709. Has anyone else experienced these issues and know of a good solution?

We received a new 5510 laptop that works great on its own, but when adding in the thunderbolt dock we experience odd issues

1. If the laptop lid is closed while connected to thunderbolt, the laptop will hang at the Dell bios screen.  If the lid is open while power turned on, the laptop boots up fine.  However, the BIOS screen is still not visible on the external monitors, only when the OS has loaded
2. Dell shipped a new dock which had no differnce, and then I uninstalled every single driver and downloaded/installed in order from Dell's website, including updated Thunderbolt firmware and BIOs

The laptop is running Windows 10 x64

2 things I have noticed:
1. In device manager, the Thunderbolt Controller 1575 is hidden.  Viewing hidden devices and opening this controller states:
"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer (Code 45)"  The resources tab states that there is a problem with the device
Of course, reconnecting makes no difference.  I have also unplugged all peripherals from the dock to make sure there was not a conflict
Second, in device manager, there is no listing (visible or invisible) for  ASMedia USB 3.0 Extended Host Controller Driver for Dell Thunderbolt Dock, regardless of uninstalling it through Add/Remove Programs and re-installing.
One more note - I am able to work normally after booting with the lid open successfully and then closing the lid.

A:Precision 5510 issues with Thunderbolt dock

I have the exact same symptoms with the same hardware (precision 5510 & WD15). the computer will not POST when it is either started or restarted with the built-in display closed. If the lid is open... all is fine. Ohh.. and when you do try to start/restart with the lid closed, i get a 2 orange, 7 white blink code. it will continue to repeat this until I open the lid and press the power button. This will then cause the unit to successfully POST and boot up.
I'm running Windows 8.1, and have installed all available dell updates as of March 28th, 2016

I've been experiencing general stability issues with the ThunderBolt 3 dock. I purchased Extreme X1 for work because of the impressive specs and portability of the device. Overall I've been very pleased with the performance and build quality of the device and Lenovo's software suite makes keeping everything up to date really easy. WIth that said, I've had LOTS of issues with general stability of this product. It appears to Lenovo had issues with the discrete graphics (Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 ti) which may have mostly been resolved with the latest update. I'm on a fairly recent version of Windows 10 (1803). When using the Thunderbolt 3 dock I still experience lots of issues where the device freezes or becomes unresponsive when docking or undocking. Often times I must force power off the device completely because the device is unable to wake from sleep correctly when docked. I have not tested whether device itself is unable to wake from sleep or if it's just because it is connected from the Dock. However sometimes the device WILL wake correctly but then certain functions will not work, notable USB data will not work often but will be powered (keyboard lights are on but can't use caps lock, for example). Or sometimes the VIDEO won't display at all (thunder bolt graphics issue with discrete GPU) however I can clearly see caps lock works on my keyboard. I am using a Jabra UC Voice 550 Duo USB headset (Skype model) with Windows 7, for business communication. Or, at least, that was the intent: The reality is that if I use any ports on the docking station, I lose connectivity in the middle of a call. Several Skype chats started out okay, and then the microphone on my end simply stopped working (I could still hear the other party.) Also playing audio (Youtube via Google Chrome) has also resulted in eventual loss of playback. I have had to plug the USB headset directly into the laptop, in order to obtain glitch-free audio (via the on-board Intel USB root hub). The ASMedia USB root hub in the Thunderbolt docking station seems to be the culprit: I have two HP Z24n monitors plugged in via DisplayPort, and it makes no difference if I use USB ports on the monitor vs. directly plugging the headset into the Thunderbolt docking station itself. Since the laptop has limited USB ports, I would like a solution to this problem, please. The ASMedia root hub is running on driver version 1.16.33.1, dated 04.02.2016. One last thing: I got driver software for my Z24n monitors on CD-ROM, but hardly any notebooks are shipped with CD/DVD drives these days - and I could not find an online copy of the software, so I could install the display profiles.

I have three ZBook 17 G3 that I cannot get a Thunderbolt dock installed correctly on. The first does not seem to want to install the thunderbolt driver, so that one's fun. The other two are having a different issue entirely. I have read multiple threads here about similar issues, and none have offered a solution for my situation.I have tried the latest BIOS, I have tried an older BIOS, I have downloaded the drivers and firmware(which won't install because it doesn't detect the dock) Whenever I plug the dock in, Windows installs the drevices, but gets stuck and winds up with a "Base System Device" that it cannot find a driver for. I have tried three different docks, and three different cables. All have the exact same result. Is there an obscure driver that I need to download to install that is not obvious in all of my searching? Any questions or clarifications, I'm happy to respond. -Keith

I have noticed a trend among the users that have a Thinkpad Yoga 370 Notebook and are using a Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock, myself included. Occasionally (every few weeks or so), one of the affected systems will show "plugged in, not charging" tooltip when hovering over the battery tray icon. When this happens, the charge indicator light by the charging port and Thunderbolt port does not turn on, the battery continues to drain, and unplugging the Thunderbolt cable and either plugging it (or the regular power cable) back into the notebook has no effect. These systems all use Lenovo System Update to keep their drivers and BIOS up to date, and I have updated the firmware on the Thunderbolt 3 Docks manually. This issue was brought to my attention because it started happening to me and my laptop/dock after the first few weeks of having it, and this behavior continued to happen for months. I would constantly be plugging in and unplugging my laptop, as I do on-site support in several buildings, and my laptop goes everywhere with me. In October I stopped using my dock entirely, and since then have had 0 problems when just using the laptop's regular charging cable. I have 3 or 4 other users whom I support that have this issue though; due to the sheer volume of documents they need open at once, they need a multi-monitor setup and ethernet ports, so not having a dock is not an option. I just got a new Carbon X1 6th generation (20KG).  I started using this with my Thunderbolt 3 dock (40AC), that I successfully used with my previous Carbon X1 5th Generation. There seems to be some compatibility issues here. After using it with the docking a while (apprx. 1 hour), the X1 suddenly started to continuously disconnect/reconnect from the dock (each 2-3 seconds), before it permanently was disconnected from the docking and would not connect at all.  When I disconnected the X1 from the dock and restarted (without connecting to dock) the X1 Thunderbolt software and devices/drivers related to that on the X1 "went crazy" and appeared/disappeared from the device manager continuously (each 2-3 seconds). I needed to enter bios and temporarily disable internal battery for it to normalize again. If I then connected to dock, the same would happen after some time. I've updated Thunderbolt software, drivers, firmware and also Thunderbolt 3 dock firmware and drivers, so no more to do there. I have not verified it completely yet, but it might be that the disconnect/crazy_stuff happens when the battery charge of the X1 reaches 100%. I once connected the X1 to the dock when the charge was 97% and it was stable then (the X1 does not charge on AC when the battery is > 95%). If this is the reason, one solution might then be to use Lenovo Vantage to set max charge to e.g. 97%, but I think this is a poor solution. Some ... Read more

Has anyone had experience with this. I just purchased an XPS 15 9560 with a TB16 dock and I'm hoping to use the dock and my old Apple Cinema display, but I can't seem to get the monitor to work in the dock. I purchased an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and the screen works fine when I hook it directly into the laptop, but I get a USB malfunctioned error when I hook it into the dock. Hi, I'm having issues with my external 4k display to only be able to operate at 30Hz. I have my laptop connected to a generation 2 Thunderbolt 3 dock via the provided cable, and from there I have tried both DisplayPort and HDMI cables (several) to connect to my display.All the technical information I have seen says that my laptop plus the dock should be able to operate at 60Hz even at this resolution, but I'm unable to lock down the settings that enable me to do that. I have pulled the latest BIOS, TB3 FW, display drivers, Intel chipset drivers from the product page.My screen is: AOC U3277FWQ if that matters. I'm running Windows 10 Pro 1809. Has anyone battled with the same issue? I'm running out of ideas on how to solve this. The HDMI port on the side is apparently only 1.4 so this would only support the [email protected], but I'm not using it at the moment. If I set the screen to 1920x1080, I can set the resolution to 60Hz. Best regards,_tero

We purchased a new X1 Carbon 6th Gen with the new Thunderbolt 3 Dock Win 10 1803 and have had all kinds of problems. Bad enough to consider other brand alternatives. All Lenovo drivers are current, we updated the firmware and drivers for the dock. With that we still have the following problems and dont know how to resolve them1. The network connectivity from the dock to laptop with USB-C loses connectivity on occasion. Also when the user shuts off the laptop, comes back and turns the laptop on, no network connectivity is re-established. The only way to fix this is to unplug the USB-C cable and plug it back in. Sometimes that will lock up windows and we have to do a hard shut down and start of the laptop. 2. Running the display out from the dock is not always reliable. The monitor will turn off randomly. To bypass this issue we have to just plug the monitor directly into the laptop. 4. Occasional random bluescreens with a stop  code DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION. This error is related to bad drivers.Are we missing something. Is there anything we have to set in the BIOS to resolve these problems? I've been reading up on this dock and a lot of people are having problems with this dock and carbon 6th gen laptops

We have a Dell Precision 5520 that uses a TB16 docking station that all of a sudden is having difficulties connecting to our VPN. It was fine earlier in the day. We tried clearing the DNS cache and tried a winsock reset. THe drivers are up to date and everything. 
Also tried to reboot the computer multiple times.
Even tried a K17A Dock and had the same issue.
We were finally able to get the computer to connect to the vpn once we used a usb net adapter to plug the ethernet cable into.
Tried plugging the usb adapter into the computer directly and into the dock. It worked whether it was directly connected to the computer or the dock.
It only does not work when we connect the ethernet cable to into the lan port on the TB16 and K17A dock. And only for the one computer.

At a loss, any ideas?

We have about 400 Lenovo T470s laptops running Windows 10 and many are having issues with recognizing the external keyboard and mouse when redocking or turning on in the morning using the Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Dock.  We have done the following: Run System Update to get the latest driversRan firmware update on the thunderbolt 3 dockUpdated Windows to 1803 and ran system update again.Changed following BIOS settingsWake by Thunderbot (TM) 3 - EnabledSecurity Level - No SecuritySupport in Pre Boot EnvironmentThunderbolt(TM) device - EnabledUSB device - Enabled What can I be missing?  This should not be happening.  This is the first time that we have used a non-mechanical dock.  Please help!

Hello everyone, I recently bought a Thinkpad X1 Extreme and I am now locking for a suitable Thunderbolt 3 dock. Although I've read a lot of posts about various docks I am still a little consfused about which one to choose. It seems like the following ones would all work with the X1 Extreme:1. Or are there any other technical differences? So if I am okay with a two cable solution couldn't I just use the Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2 135W and connect it via Thunderbolt while at the same time use my 135W AC adapter to charge the laptop? Thanks a lot in advance.

I recently just bought the lg 38cb99-w - https://www.lg.com/us/business/commercial-display/products/desktop-monitors/lg-38CB99-W - to connect to my X1 Yoga Gen 3 laptop thinking that one USB-C port for power and display would be very convenient. However this monitor won't stay connected to my laptop.  Whenever I plug the monitor in Windows 10 plays it's "new connection sound", my screen goes black and a couple seconds later my screen is displayed on this 38" beauty. However every 15-30 seconds afterwards the display will flash black for a few seconds as my laptop disconnects and then reconnects. It doesn't matter if my laptop is open or closed, the constant disconnects occur (although when my laptop is closed the frequency drops to every few minutes).  Either way, it renders this monitor so frustrating that it's uselses and am figuring out which product I need to return.  Any advice or suggestions are recommended So far I have used lenovo vantage to upgrade all firmware. My buddy also plugged his Dell laptop into the monitor and had no issues whatsoever. So I'm leaning torwards this being a Lenovo issue and not LG. Thanks,

I'm not able to use an external display during the boot process + Bitlocker Screen. T480s on a USB-C 40AF Dock. This functionality exists with T470s and the 40A2 Ultra Dock. There is the proper Display On Dock BIOS setting avaible. This funcitionality exists with the P52s and the USB-C 40AC Dock. It seems like the T480s is missing this functionality, and I want to know if there is a planned BIOS update to fix this issue. I've tried every other possible BIOS configuration, and both USB-C ports on the T480s, there is no way to get an external montior to display during boot when that external display is plugged into a USB-C dock. Please let me know. Thanks!

Hello,  I've been having a hard time finding this exact issue. We use T480s with the ultra dock 40AJ0135US. 98% of the machines dock without issue but I have a small stack where the display on the T480s with go dark with a slight flicker as soon as its docked. No external connections are activated and I'm not able to do anything until I undock and the screen goes back to normal. Got a sealed refurb from Lenovo, Thinkpad X1 Extreme 20MF000DUS.Updated everything from Lenovo + Windows (including BIOS to 1.18 )I have an external USB-C gen2 monitor (single cable for Video+power) Works absolutely great on older Yoga... On this X1 Extreme machine it would sometimes work, but 80% of the time would not. Monitor gets power, but no signal.It would also spit out error of USB device not recognized and this in device manager:Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. I've been having some issues with dual display with a T440s and a 40A2009US Ultra Dock. OS is Windows 7 64 Enterprise. I two identical Dell LCDs connected to the dock. One via VGA and the other DVI. Both displays are being mirrored and I can't seem to change it. There is only one monitor listed in Device manager.Both external monitors will only display an image if the PC is started closed from the docking station power button. Removing the laptop and replacing it on the docking station does not wake the monitors and there is no image until the laptop is manually shutdown and restarted. I have updated graphics drivers, as well as any driver related to the dock (USB3.0 etc). I have tried a displayport to DVI connector as well, no go. After some research I discovered the firmare may need to be updated. The synaptics package from the lenovo support downloads site gave me the message that my firmware was already up to date. The other fwdphb06.exe that is recommended elsewhere would not update. When I double-click the package there is no install prompt or process being run. There is an external monitor connected to the dock. I have swapped the dock for another, as well as the power supplies for each. I'm stumped. Any idea what my issue may be?

I have the same problem and worse, when resuming from sleep it will often fail to bring up one or both of my monitors and I have to manually unplug their power cords to revive them. Worked fine with my old Thinkpad and dock. Trying the firmware update now... Lto 3 tapes

HP ZBook Dock with Thunderbolt 3 usb device issues. USB Keyboard randomly sends a stream of a repeated character.  I will be typing and mid worrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr d will get results like in the word above.  The inverse happens alot too, were it just drops a few characters i have typed. USB Mouse lag is horrible. Both devices will stop functioning, need to reboot the dock to recover them. Any one have any suggestions or which drivers are the most stable?

As the only docking solution available and moving from a more traditional dock, its less than suitable.  HP needs to make a longer cable and the end that connects to the laptop should be at a right angle.  The cable is so stiff and thick it takes nearly 4" to make the turn.  HP makes it impossible to find this out how long the cable is with out purchasing and at that point your stuck with it.  Hardly a customer satisfaction issue they should want to propigate!

Just bought a Lenovo soga s730 (in other countries it can be called 730s) and Omen accelerator by hp, there are several problems, the first one: the dock connects only from the second time (the first time it detect the thunderbolt connection, but then driver just turns off, the second time everything is ok); Second: the video card appears in the device manager, but the driver does not automatically turn on, the reboot helps, then everything starts working. The last most annoying problem is that there is no charging through the thunderbolt connector, the dock is in SELF POWER status. Screenshots attached.

Hi allWell we all now about the fan issue which is much better since the last BIOS update.Nevertheless I have sometimes fluctuation fan noise, although there is no load. This is mainly when the notebook is at the thunderbolt docking station.I found out, that as soon as I connect my notebook to the docking station more or less all app-processes suddenly move over and start running on the GPU. The CPU has virtually no load.Why do all processes start to run on GPU when the notebook is connected to the dock? Is this an issue or is there a good reason for this behaviour?My Notebook and Windos has the latest drivers/bios and updates installed.Regards,Sebastian

I just picked up the TB3 dock and all seems to be working, however it is not charging my laptop using the included Thunderbolt/Power combo cable. The power light shows on the dock, and connected devices work on laptop, but no power. Any ideas?

I have a new P51, 64 GB ram, SSD hard drive. Ihave a docking station at work and one at home. The one at home has a 6 TB Seagate BarraCuda pro USB3 drive attached. When I dock the laptop at home, the system will not boot. It gets to the bios boot sceen and stays there until I turn off or disconnect the USB drive. Once I do that, it continues to boot and if I turn the USB drive back on, it works fine. If the drive is my old 1 TB barracuda, it boots normally.

I have a Yoga 370 (Win10) and a Thunderbolt 3 dock & Thinkpad USB-C dock and i cannot get them to play nice. I am using the USB-C cord on both devices, it transmits video and power but not USB or Ethernet. I have downloaded drivers and firmware from Lenovo and still no luck, the computer does not see the dock BUT the video and power are there. I changed my BIOS settings per the firm ware update well and no luck. any help would be much appreciated!

Love the concept of the thunderbolt 3 dock, can't fathom how it was designed though.  On my zBook 15 G3, the power and thunderbolt ports are on the right side of the laptop.  The dock has the cable port on the left rear side, completely crossing over all the ports when you put the dock on a desk with the back facing away from  you.  Then they ship a cable that is barely long enough to put the dock directly behind the laptop and connect it.   Where do I buy a longer cable HP, please!

Hi,I have a Thinkpad P50 and today my Dell Thunderbolt Dock arrived.Unfortunately, it doesn't work  (= it is not recognized in any way), although Dell specifically says that the dock also works with non-Dell Thunderbolt 3 machines. I have installed the Thunderbolt software from the P50's driver site and updated to BIOS 1.17.Lenovo released an "Intel Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt Firmware" for the P70. But there's no such firmware update on the P50's site, just the Intel Thunderbolt Software from November.The 1.17 UEFI/BIOS Update says it fixed a Thunderbolt issue, but apparently not mine Has anyone ever gotten some Thunderbolt 3 device working on the P50? I just hope this will be fixed soon, because the Thunderbolt dock seems to be the only convenient way to drive three 4K displays with the P50 (2 via Thunderbolt 3, 1 via miniDP).

For some reason, i can't turn on my new P51 using the power button on the Thunderbolt 3 dock.   I'm sure i've got something hooked up wrong, but thought i'd check here.   Is there a setting in Control Panel (power button) that i need to change?  In order to use my laptop / view from my external monitor, i have to open the lid to the laptop, power on and then i can use the external monitor.  thanks for any help.

I have a new ZBook G3 17" with ThunderBolt 3 dock station.I have install my laptop with boot up finger&password protection.I have connect display, keyboard and mouse to this dock.Every time  I bootup, I have to open laptop to insert access data.This look like a stupid solution compare the old HP docking station that I have on my HP 8760W where dockingstation are working from first second and I can insert my access data (password) without opening lid.There are any solution to this problem ?I have also another problem. On the old PC was possible create a protected area of HD using a little part of it withHP ProtectTools. This SW is not possible to install on ZBook G3.I don't found any solution to create it. Only using Windows 10 (that I don't want to use) functionality.More we go on and worst SW/HW are delivery to user. AC

So I have a Precision 5510 laptop with Xeon processor, no 4K screen.  My question is about this thunderbolt dock TB16.  I have one HDMI out and was asked if I can make that work on 3 external monitors.  None are 4K.  Is that possible?  Can it function as extended desktop, not duplicated? And if so, is that 3 external plus laptop? Or is the laptop screen on of the 3?

I have a user with two LT3053s (2560 x 1600) and his previous T440 + Ultra Dock (I believe) supported the full resolution at 60 Hz (again I believe).  I upgraded him to a T480 and our standard Type-c dock that we deploy limited the screens to 1920x1080 @ 60Hz.  After this and complaints from the user of headaches from the drop in resolution we purchased a TB3 Gen 2 Dock and even after plugging the dock in to the actual TB3 port on the laptop (not the top type-c port) we are having issues with not all of his devices working, namely the kb+m. Any ideas here?  Right now we are running it with the 135W power adapter that it came with, but there is also another power adapter available that did not come with the unit we purchased.
