Preferred Solution: Please Please Please. My Life Depends On This!!!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello 2low2rl and welcome,

One of the infections onboard is interfering with HijackThis. We prefer a more comprehensive set of logs to assist in detecting the extent the malware has infiltrated.

As noted in the final step (Step 5) of our sticky topic IMPORTANT - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help....

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop.

What DSS will do:create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review.
DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt in your next reply.
Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

Click Upload.

Please include the following in your next reply and we'll get started:

main.txt
an attached extra.txt

Hello all!
I have a serious problem with a program that my job uses. It is a virtual machine, which allows me to run a separate "machine" within my own. They use this so my personal side of my pc doesn't interfere with the business side, and vice versa. Well, I have downloaded the files several times now, and they appear to dl just fine. Until I run the setup.exe. Then I get an error "1334" every time. I have seen some forums online about this issue, but none that were helpful. The error tells me that it could be a network problem, or a problem with the package. The package comes in .cab files, and each time I re download the package, a different cab malfunctions. My trainer thinks it could be my security, so I disabled it and re did the download. No good. I worked with tech support til almost 1am last night to no avail. I was informed that if I could not figure out what was wrong with my system, or obtain a different system, my job may be at stake. Can someone help me please??

Can you be more specific as to what virtual machine, where you downloaded from, and what security may be interfering.

Help,

"kamsoft-ckvoexe-malware". this is what i got after typing this strange autorun that popped up after i started having restart and hardisk AND GAMING PROBLEMS!
I tried to follow instructions i got on google but now it's seems to have gotten pissed.the symptoms before were as follows-
1-kaspersky failure (so uninstalled it 4 my cousins norton 2k4, huge mistake)
2-oblivion would hang (it later completely stopped working after enough attempts)
3-my hardisk would open on a new window
4-I recently had to remove heavy infections of antivirgear and spysheriff so i think there still traces of the malware duo.
5-error messages just before windows logoff/shutdown.

and the symptoms know are-
1-everything above amplified
2-security programs are always terminated(except bitdefender)
3-WAY faster internet (i actually don't mind that)
4-and last but not least my account is not in administration.

that may have been long but please help me. I have tried everything and i doubt reinstalling windows will be healthy to my comp.PLEASE help

sincerely
ze'prance

I hope someone will help. I have wasted so much time today.
Someone else used my computer (I know, I know) and got the stupid malware newnet on it. I went and run the "fix" for it which then promptly destroyed all my internet connections and I cannot get them back. I have no idea how to proceed. Going through the IE wizard does nothing. I have DSL, and of course normally just have to click on the IE icon to open Google (or whatever)....now no page comes up no matter what I choose.
I cannot reinstall Windows completely as I have not backed up in a long time and it would take me days to complete that....so that's not an option at this moment. (I have to work on this computer in the morning.) Can someone plllllllease tell me what to do?
Thanks in advance!

Oh please someone save my bacon!!!!!

I have a new job with a Time Share Resort. In these trying times, I'm trying to make the best impression I can. I am building an Excel Spread sheet that will allow others to enter data that I will then compile and create reports with.I just can't figure out how to write this formula or if it can even be accomplished. I have 1 column (Column A) that other users will populate with Room numbers. I would then like the second column (Column B) to auto populate with a Home owner's association number and a 3rd column (Column C) to auto populate with the average rack rate for that room that referenced from hidden columns. I have 3 pre-populated columns hidden, titled (Column R) Room Numbers (Column S) HOA numbers and (Column T) average Rack Rates. The Rows in the columns (R, S, and T) reference each other: example: If R1 is Room # 1001, then S1 is HOA 1, and T1 is $212.00. So if someone types in 1001 in A7, then the data that corresponds from Column R, in this case 1001 will reference Column S and Column T and auto populate that info into Column B7 and Column C7, respectfully. Is this impossible to do? Or is there a simple formula or macro that can be written to accomplish this?

I truly, truly appreciate any assistance I can get!

Hi, I am trying to install CitrixReceiver-13.3.2hp1a-all-5.2.x-x86-SQ, but I got a dependency error because firefox is missing. Is this really necessary (I just want to use/update icaclient, not firefox)? And if so, how should I reinstall firefox (I couldn't find any packages for that)? Thanks.

I'm trying to fix IE6 by re-registering Oleaut32.dll and I've read that I need to use regsvr32.exe to do this. I've run it from Start/Run command line but it says it is not a win32 application. Then I read that it needs to be run from a DOS prompt but I am using WinXP (sp2). Also I would like to know how to use a program Depends.exe which shows the dependent modules for dll's. Thankyou

Thank you in advance for any help-

Recently I was working on a document with MS Word 2007 when I suddenly received several save related errors regarding my C drive.

The auto-recovery kicked in and I closed the program and restarted the computer. When I returned to open the document in Word, the file was missing. When I tried to open it from the recently opened files drop down, it said "the file could not be found c:\blah"

From my research and from this link:
http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/632612-disappearing-word-files.html

I think this issue sounds like the Marker virus- and the date that it happened also seems to be evidence to this fact.
A .tmp file also now has a missing path name which I suspect is the one associated with the file I need.
In addition there is an xml file for what I believe may be my document that remanis however it wont open either- Word says this file is corrupt.
Can anyone offer any solution or ideas on how to recover this document?

thanks so much,
Mike

Hi,

I've instaled Win 7 as a second system next to My Vista (both x64). Now I'm emotionally ready to get rid of Vista for number of reasons. Of course Win7 become fully operational and "personalized" system so I don't wont to reinstal Win7...just remove Vista. But my Win7 needs Vista's partition. In magazine I have following description:
"Vista name" D:
(size)
healthy (System, Active, Primary)

"Win7 name" C:
(size)
healthy (Boot, Pagefile, backup, primary)

How can I move "required stuff" to C: to be able to delete D: partition?

thanks

A:Win7 Partition depends on Vista's one

Hello Muzzy, welcome to Seven Forums!

Before we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going on as there may be a fairly simple way to resolve the situation.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a snip of that.

Hi folks. depends.exe will not function on my Vista Ultimate x64. Any program I try to start has an error finding IESHIMS.DLL. The program will not profile as a consequence. There is a search sequence that could be modified but this DLL is not within the list.

Search results as a screenshot is attached. There are about 10 of these DLLs with varying dates, locations and versions. The machine runs very well otherwise; no administrative errors in the logs.

The reason this program is being used was spurred on by a Nero tech who supposedly found an error in the Nero 9 diagnostics CAB file. The complaint was that I could not view an MOV in Showtime. I think it is the file which was downloaded from Frostwire. Nero does everything else perfectly. I would still like to get depends to work for general knowledge and future diagnostics.

I cannot find this problem anywhere on the net or in this forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok gang, I have one that really is throwing me for a loop. One computer in my company is having difficulties in sending e-mails through Outlook 2007 running POP3. The part that has me scratching my head is that everything works fine while the computer is connected here in our office, but whenever she leaves, she has intermittent sending issues... it just hangs in the ourbox. It works for the first few minutes then stops sending them out. I have searched all through the Microsoft site and couldn't find anything that related.

Any ideas on what to look for?

A:Outlook 2007 - e-mail stuck in outbox (depends on ISP)...

I had a similar issue, though it may not be the same.

Some ISP's (like AT&T, who I hate and despise and upon whom I heap curses and incantations of evil) won't let you use any SMTP server other than theirs to send mail, even if the e-mail account isn't with them. You have to go through a whole rigamaroll to set it up.

But like I said, your issue may be (and probably is) something different. Are there any error messages?

Hi,

I know this is probably a rather tiresome query, but I've surfed the net endlessly and not found a solution. I'm attempting to populate a memo box, which depends on user choice from a chain of combo boxes (unbound).

I'm creating a classroom planning/assessment database application (the new Learning Essentials for those involved in Australian Education). The system I'm creating, database-wise, is a little complicated (I am an absolute self-taught beginner, so please be kind and precise with your terminology, explaining where I should find the tools you mention). We have 7 "KLAs", which are each chosen with an "Assessable Element" (depending on the KLA) for each grade, which each act as an umbrella for a number of "Knowledge and Understandings" (each K & U has a descriptor of more than 255 characters. Under each "Knowledge and Understanding" is a dozen or so "Detailed Elements" (that the kids get assessed on). So I have the following hierarchy of tables:

KLA
Assessable Elements
Year (or Grade in America-speak)
Ways of Working (differing and dependent on previous choices)
Knowledge and Understandings (includes the descriptor)
Detailed Elements

Each table is linked in hierarchy to the one above via foreign keys (and sometimes to more than one table above (my description is the simplified version - it's more complicated than that). So you can imaging that the KLAs table is quite small (only 7 re... Read more

Hi,

I am wondering if end-of-life Vista is more dangerous than end-of-life XP. My reasoning is that Vista more closely resembles Win 10 than XP. So as MS was saying, attackers may reverse engineer patches meant for recent OS's into exploits that work on the end-of-life one. So it seems to me that Vista looks more dangerous than XP.

Hello and thank you for taking time to help me with my computer issue,

I am in no way a computer "smart" person, and will need help step by step, as I am unfamiliar with most terms. Please forgive my ignorance....

Here are my problems...I just got hired (today as a matter of fact, that's why I am freaking out about this) on to a new work-at-home job that will involve using my computer daily starting tomorrow, but have found it to be a MAJOR problem to actually do anything serious on it and need help ASAP.

I just erased 2 virus scanners on my computer and left Malewarebytes' Anti-Malware, so there was no conflict between the 3. I had Windows Defender and Ad-Adware. So the only thing I have left on my computer is Malewarebytes'.

EVERY single time I scan my computer, (I also would get the BSOD when I scanned with the other 2 virus protections as well), whether it be a full system scan or quick scan, I get the "Blue screen of death." It only happens after the scan is complete and is asking me to restart my computer.

I also cannot Google any webpage without it redirecting me to another webpage. No matter what I do, I am constantly being redirected. I use Firefox and sometimes Internet Explorer. Both do the same thing. The only way I can... Read more

Hi barmardiv,

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

Let's start with Combofix.

1. Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2

* IMPORTANT !!! Place combofix.exe on your Desktop
2. Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.
You can get help on disabling your protection programs here

3. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
Note: Windows Vista users will have to right-click on the file and select "Run as Administrator"

4. As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.

Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

The Windows recovery console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery mode that allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

I'm a longtime and active user of windows 2000 - I use two pcs, one for games and films, and the other for more mundane stuff like internet, printing etc.
Yesterday, I was offered a secondhand copy of windows xp and given that xp is a little more flexible than W2K, I told the buyer that I might be interested but need to clear one or two things up-

1) is it true that xp HAS to be registered?

2) can I install the same os on my two computers?

3) only one of my computers is hooked up to the net as I don't want both computers filled to the hilt with numerous drivers and internet related software so the games computer wont be able to access the web - would I have a problem with this?

4) I've been told that microsofts policy is one pc, one xp operating system for life - this being the case, should I actually be buying secondhand?

A:Is XP for life?

1) Individually bought XPs (regular and OEM alike) have to be registered.
If you get it with a new PC, like a Dell, you can, but don't have to, as Dell etc. have a so-called volume-license.

2) You can, but without registering, they will both stop working after 30 days.
Re-installing from scratch every 30 days is not a viable option.

3) Not being hooked up to the internet means, you don't get any updates.

4) You can install any OS an any PC.
If you have one XP (let's say with registration code 123), install that and register it, fine.
Get another XP (say with reg-code 456), you can install that on the PC with XP-123 on it, provided you wipe the PC first and do a clean install from scratch.
When registering XP-456 it will look like another PC to MS, even if it is the same hardware.

(But why would you want to buy TWO heaps of sh.., one is bad enough already).

Stay with Windows 2000 (like me). A whole load less problems, and SP5 is in the making already, so W2K will be supported for a while to come yet.

Every day I like to watch streaming video from a news site, during break at work. In a nutshell; the website is working properly as verified at home, and, by accessing the correct page via my IPhone at work, through the 3G network ONLY. If I turn Wi-Fi on for my IPhone, and access the page, that stock web page shows up. If I turn off Wi-Fi and use 3G to access the page, it comes up to the correct selection screen for the network. If I then turn on the Wi-Fi again, and refresh the page, the stock page comes back again. This page that comes up is ... Read more

recently I bought my first laptop - an Acer Aspire 5310 on a special cashback offer hard to go past pre-loaded with Vista home.

But this thing has a life of it's own - it doesn't need my input, it has a seemingly full time job just looking after itself!! I turned off the Symantec trial and Windows Updates but it still takes forever to do anything.

If I want to open control panel, allow 30 seconds before I see a window. Same to open IE.

Its got all this Acer empowering stuff going on in the background maybe that needs to go.

Also if I run it on batteries to cycle these then plug in the power when it's low, it logs off ???

Text fields lose the mouse so are really hard to edit as the cursor can reappear almost anywhere... Arrggh.

Soooo slow and tedious to do anything. My old 800PC/10Mb is miles nicer than this 1.6 M/80Gb laptop.

A:Life of it's own!

OK how's about 1 question at a time.

In the normal running of a laptop the battery should be cycled from fully charged to low then recharged. So using it at home on battery from fully charged to low and then plugging it in at the first beep shouldn't log you off the internet and off the computer should it? Or is this Vista in all it's glory.

seem to figure out how to find my graphics card. Nor my sound card.

I am not a genius when it comes to computers, but I know more than the average person. My brother hooked me up with a computer and after having to reinstall the OS (XP) because of problems.. I now have an operating computer (with no sound). Along with no sound (because the computer does not seem to 'know' the sound card), the computer's refresh rate is horrific because it's using the default generic video driver.

I figure updated the drivers of the video card will fix this. However, I cannot find the graphics card in dxdiag (it shows nothing by the Name: as well as for the sound card). So after not being able to find anything using dxdiag, I tried using msinfo32 for the system information.. but it gives me information on everything but those two (all blank).

I am sure my computer will 'recognize' and fill in those blanks on dxdiag once the drivers are updated, but how do I know which drivers to get??

Any help is much appreciated.

PS. nothing by Device Manager either.

Q: CD life

For years, I've been hearing that CDs you burn have a life of about 5 years before degrading. That's coming true. I burned a bunch of music CDs around 2001 and now I'm having to start throwing them away because they're becoming mostly static. I've also heard that the rate of degradation (and whether they degrade or not) depends on the kind of CD you're using. What are the specs for a really good blank CD?

A:CD life

A CD certainly has a life longer than 5 years. I have several older than that, and they work just fine. Music files don't degrade to static. If this is what you hear, I suspect another cause for the problem.

Are you only noticing problems with music CDs? Do you swap them around and handle them frequently? That will shorten their lifespan. Do you leave them in the car? Don't keep them in appropriate cases?

I crashed my PC on the power button and started again. All went OK until it should have shown my desktop. Instead a blue screen came up saying that a disc check was necessary. Never seen anything like this in all my life. I let it go into the disc check, it took a very long time checking mostly File 9 and inserting indexes for several minutes. It went on and on, I thought it would never stop.

I went to have a smoke for 10 minutes, came back and it had finished. Told me to wait and it logged onto Windows automatically. Everything then went as normal as if it was yesterday and up came my desktop and I opened my browser with no problems, just like nothing had ever happened.

As far as I can see now, I am back to normal after the unexpected freak show.

I get frustrated by Second Life crashing regularly....it is the only application that produces the old style blue screen. Can anyone tell me what exactly is happening. Is it a client based problem, a server or a network problem.

A:Second Life

sounds like a client side driver problem...might be a graphics driver...maybe its time to live your first life??

Hello guys.
I changed my SSD OCZ Vertex 2 with SSD Intel Series 330 60 GB. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64, AHCI was already in BIOS as enabled.
So far so good, i installed all the drivers, programs, etc. Everything runs smooth and nice.
The cache folder for Mozilla Firefox ( my default browser ) is on the D partition, which is an hard drive, same story for the swap.
I disabled the System Restore, Defragmentation, Superfetch as well...
I checked with the program SSD Life Pro just to see some details. After less than 2 hours i have already
those values ( read / write ) as in the attached images.
The print screens are made at a very short period of time between each other.
I only surfed the web with Mozilla Firefox.
Could you explain it to me, please, why is there already 55 / 59 GB ?
Is something wrong with the program SSD Life Pro ?
Can you give me some tips, please ?
Thank you.

A:SSD Life Pro is ok ?

After 2-3 days of normal use, the lifetime decreased from 8 years 8 months to 8 years and 5 months.
Thats not normal at all. This is not the first SSD i own
Any ideas, guys ?

I have a lightly used 120 GB HD from my old Dell Dimension 4400. (Probably made in 2001.) The HD is a Western Digital WD1200. It is said to have a 40 pin connector and thereíre four prongs for the power. It wonít hook up to my new Dell Dimension E520. I was wondering if there is any type of exterior hard drive enclosure that would be compatible with the WD1200 so I could use it as an external HD Ė or if there are actual adaptors that can be used to get obsolete HDs to connect with modern equipment.
Please help

Lately I've been having serious problems with my monitor. Here's the run down....

When I turn on the computer and login, everything is smooth. Except as soon as my desktop loads the monitor starts to turn off and on and off and on continuously..... the LED also goes on(green) and off (orange).........

At this stage the monitor power button is completely useless. Doesn’t matter how hard I press it, the LCD screen just keeps turning on and off.....

I've found that if I open windows explorer the flashing stops. I have to keep it open though cause as soon as I close it the monitor goes berserk again.

This started about a year ago but only on very rare occasions and back then I would just restart the computer. So I didn't think very much of it. Now, the problem occurs every time I turn on the computer and restarting makes no difference.

None of my mates can explain it so any help will be appreciated.

Please god i hope someone can help!!!

about 3 months ago i but a rig with the following specs:

Athlon 64 3200+ (winchester) overclocked @ 2400 Mhz
Giga-byte K8NXP-SLI
PNY Verto GeForce 6 6600GT PCI-E SLI 128MB
1Gb Corsair pc3200 400 Mhz Dual channel
250GB Hitachi SATAII HDrive
80GB ATA HDrive
2 x Phillips Dual layer DVD Writers
Mitsumi 7in1 FDD & card reader
I-cute Case

Windows XP Professional

All went well, was reasonably quick.

This week i bought another PNY Verto 6600SLI to run in well SLI mode, thats where my problems started.

I have not been able to run the cards in SLI

First thing i noticed was the cards looked different, i put this down to improved manufacturing, because when i loaded Windows up, device manager saw them both as 6600's

The bios's were different to i have tried, flashing the new card bios on to both, and the old card bios on to both.

I have tried the SLI selector board, both ways in my MB, but i know its in the right way as windows is seeing my cards as 2x8 way 6600's

i have tried with and without the SLI bridge.

I have also, uninstalled windows XP Pro, installed Win XP64, then another clean install of windows XP pro

I am currently using the latest drivers from the nvidia website, i even tried using the older drivers that came on CD with my cards.

None of this has helped and im starting to lose hair and sleep over this...

Can anyone help???

Jags

A:help - SLI is ruining my life!!!!

The cards must be identical. If the pcb is of different color, I would think the cards use different memory or different memory timings at least. You will need two matched cards in order to run them in sli.

FWIW I consider sli to be no more than a gimmick. The technology is not new; it has been around for years. It is a means for nvidia to sell more cards.

Well guess what... Somehow I overlooked the key code in the cd case! So the Key/receipt/box is in the garbage! Does anyone know anyway to get the cd key? I've been trying to play this game for 2 days now and I'm about to flip I'm almost positive I can't get a cd key but I'll give this one last try. If all fails, I guess I'll have to buy another Half-Life 2 cd!

I've got a NETGEAR Router WGR614 v6 that's been linking to the Linksys on my PC. Everything has been working wonderfully until I made an adjustment this morning.

This morning my internet connection at work was odd in that I could only connect to Google's homepage, and all other websites were taking too long and would eventually time out. I figured that it might be due to the fact that the business next door continues to piggy-back on my wireless router, and I've been meaning to secure it for a long time, so I decided today is the day.

I went to routerlogin.net to set some settings, and as far as I know, all I did was to save a passphrase, and then all of the sudden both computers in the office couldn't associate with the access point.

I configured my PC's Linksys adapter to use that passphrase, but still nothing. I'm not sure which encryption type, but changing it back and forth hasn't worked either. The router has a few lights on the front of it, and the 'wireless' light hasn't been on. Don't know why.

I can't get back into routerlogin.net because the router isn't working at all. I plugged the Ethernet cable directly from the router into my PC, and nothing, Linksys still can't associate with access point. So, I had to plug the LAN directly into my PC (bypass router) to get on just now.

I can't imagine that the router died just as I applied the passphrase this morning.
All I want to do is res... Read more
