I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I was able to create Wifi hotspot from my laptop running Win 8.1 to share internet with my mobile phone. But ever since upgrading to Windows 10, I am not able to get it to work, and it shows "Hosted Network supported" as "No" in Cmd Prompt.

I have updated all the drivers for Lenovo Z51-70 with all the updated drivers they had hosted for Windows 10 recently.

A:Wifi adapter driver doesn't support in AP mode after upgrading to Win10

In the current adapters properties under Sharing tab, make sure the top box is checked under ICS.

After, insure the following commands from elevated command prompt have been completed:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=whateverulike key=whateverulike

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

netsh wlan show hostednetwork

The last command should show if it worked or not.

Since I can't get on the 10 forum I'm asking this here. I've written a couple of utilities for my wife's club (upload passwords, upload newsletter) that uses the Windows FTP facility. They quit working for the two users who have upgraded to 10. Has it changed or have they quit supporting it?

I have three Win10 systems, all recent motherboards with various video capability. One is an Asus Maximus VII Hero with an i7 3960K and only Intel embedded graphics. The next is an Asus 990FX R2.0 with an AMD FX-8150 and an Asus Radeon R9 390 graphics card. The final system is An Asus X99 Deluxe with an Intel i7-5820K processor and an MSI GTX980 graphics card. All systems started as Win7 and were upgraded to Win10. When the Maximus VII upgraded all functions were available for the Planar PCT2785 touch screen. Both mouse and keyboard and touch worked perfectly at all times. When the 990FX was upgraded if you started using the mouse you could never make use of the monitor's touch capability. If you started with touch, you could use touch for what seems permanently, and if you use the mouse occasionally touch would still work, but if you used the mouse and keyboard for any length of time you lost touch capability. When the X99 was upgraded no touch capability was available from the start. I never loaded the drivers for touch for any of the Win7 systems, so that shouldn't be a factor. I would love to get all the systems, but especially the X99, to have full capability for touch and mouse and keyboard. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi, Just an FYI - the latest version of HP Support Assistant that's running on my (upgraded)  Window 10 desktop system mis-inventories my current printer.  The printer listed *was* attached to this system ( while in ran Win 8) but that printer was deleted as a printer after I upgraded to Win10.  In fact all the HP SW for printing (including driver) was uninstalled and then re-installed.. System: HP Pavilion SlimLine 400PN: 400-034 PCPrinter: HP Officejet 5610xi All-in-One (USB attached) Below is what shows instead.  Note that I obfuscated my serial numbers but I can tell you that neither SN or PN match for this printer.  I should add then when I try to re-inventory that it finds nothing new like it should.  ThanksBigDaddy68

A:Support Assistant mis-inventories my printer on Win10

I suggest that you uninstall and reinstall HP Support Assistant.  Here is the Official website.  You should download the correct version for your computer.  Then, see what is reported.  It could be that a glitch occurred when the previous version was installed.  I will report the problem to the appropriate HP people if it is still incorrect.  Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Running on a new XPS 8900.  Whenever Dell Support Assist runs, a Blue Screeen of Death appears.  I am now experiencing a Windows Blue Screen of Death daily -- it appears to be running automatically every 12 to 24 hours..
The Windows minidump identifies the failures as coming from the address GenHC.sys+1509ewhich is adriver to support a USBSer device.  I've contacted the vendor to see if they can provide a fix, no new updates are on their website.
SO, how can I either get a version of Dell Support Assist  that does not trigger the BSOD?
Or how can I prevent Dell Support Assist from running?
1)  Is there an option to disable it
2) What should I uninstall?
Win10 shows Dell SupportAssist 1.1.6664.93 is installed.

A:Dell Support Assist Triggers Win10 BSOD

I had same issue with Alienware 15 R2 purchased just 5 days back. Daily within 12-24 hrs BSOD was occurring. Finally got some clue in windows 10 Event Viewer and got it confirmed that Dell Support Assist was the culprit. I could reproduce BSOD by just starting the Support Assist application and wait for few seconds. Finally, I uninstalled the Dell Support Assist and Dell Support Assist Agent.

Just about ready to take my new machine in & pay Geek Squad $100 to upgrade it from Win10 to Win7  (got new Home Premium disk & key, also downloaded 7 & made an ISO image in hopes of saving hours installing all the updates when I thought I was going to try & do this myself).  Two questions: This isn't a reversion from Win10 upgrade, it's a native Windows 10 machine. Is this likely to void my warranty? And will I still be able to use HP Support Assistant, or is it going to look at my system and say"OMG, this fool needs all new drivers" and then send me the Windows 10 drivers that it thinks belong on this machine?

A:Win7 on a Win10 machine: Warranty & HP Support Assistant

Hi: This is a peer to peer forum, so we can only give you our unqualified opinions regarding warranty info. There used to be written info online regarding warranty information.  I can't seem to find anything relevant to your question anymore. Based on what I have read in the past, you will void the software warranty since you are installing an unsupported operating system. This means that if you have a problem with Windows or any of the programs installed on the PC, HP will ask you to reinstall W10 before proceeding to troubleshoot the PC under the warranty. Installing W7 should not void the hardware warranty. I don't use the HPSA myself, but it should not scan your PC and recommend W10 drivers.  The safe thing to do would be to have it notify you of any updates but not automatically install them. Don't leave it on autopilot (automatically download and install updates).

I need to upgrade to Win10. The current GeForce 7500 LE video in my HP Pavilion H8-1200z is not supported and Nvidia is not writing a new driver for it. I purchased a PowerColor Radeon HD5450 1GB which is supported by Win10. My system will not produce any video when powered on after the HD5450 video card is installed. There was a suggestion elsewhere on the web that I may need to update the MB BIOS to support this "supposedly" backward compatible PCIe card. There is no newer BIOS listed on the HP support site for this Gigabyte MB. Is there any way to get this video upgrade to work in my PC?

Yes, I am confused as to why it does not work either.  Possibly try a Geforce 5** series or 6**  series card that also supports Windows 10.  The actual card that started is problem is not a terrific performer, so maybe a lower card in the Geforce 5** or 6** series will do.

Try opening Control Panel / Uninstall a program and uninstall the Lenovo Energy Management / Power Management Software,
   Restart the system if prompted.

Now download and install this

If  after the installation you were able to see a shortcut icon on your desktop,
try navigating Crogram Files or Program Files x86
now look for Lenovo Folder and It shouldbe located there.

Hope this helps

It shows two drivers with errors, mobile 4 series express microsoft wddm 1.1.  If I delete them and reboot, they both come back.  The lenovo system update does not recommend a newer video driver, the intel tools don't find it, if I manually download and try to run the win10 one for x64 systems it says it does not meet the minimum system requirements.  Some searching shows it to be a 4500 series type driver so I would think it would have worked.  Any ideas?

I upgraded from Win7 64 bit to Win10 64 bit and everything worked great. After an update or two, the video drivers have been changed to newer ones, causing the video to look somewhat grainy. The video adapter drivers on the HP Support area worked great, but I understand that Win10 auto updates them, so that I can't keep the old ones that work. Will their be any updates regarding this problem, from HP or Microsoft for these video adapter drivers? Please advise

A:Win10 Video Driver Problem

Hi: You can stop W10 from updating drivers by hiding the updates. See this link for more information. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3073930/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-driver-update-from-rei... HP doesn't support your notebook for any other operating system but W7, so they won't be issuing any fixes/updates for W10. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05195282 So, install the graphics driver you are happy with, restart the PC, run the hide windows update tool, let it check for updates, and then check to hide any graphics driver updates it finds.

Hi

I recently did a clean install of Windows 10 Home.
My computer has:
1. standard built in USB ports (to the motherboard),
2. PCI USB 2 card
3. PCI USB 3 card

For some reason, only the built in USB ports work properly.
The USB3 card works with external drives, but no other hardware (eg .webcam)

The other USB 2 card seems to have a yellow exclamation in the device manager.
- VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller
- VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller

The 'device status' under properties says: "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)"

I have tried to update the drivers using Driver Boost / Drive Easy and it does not find anything more recent.

(The Enhanced Host Controller is a Intel ICH10 Family)

This is very frustrating as I need these ports - does anyone have any advice in order to resolve this?

thanks

A:Radeon HD 4200 driver for 64-bit Win10 [Alternative Fix]

Leecifer, just a note to THANK-YOU for locating and posting this method for getting rid of the empty space between the viewable window and the physical edge of my Samsung XL2370 monitor. After upgrading to Windows 10 over 2 months ago, I've tried lots of methods to get the AMD Catalyst Control Center working with my AMD 4350-HD video card that came with this HP PC in 2009. With Windows 7, I used the CCC to adjust the overscan/underscan of the monitor after every display driver update.

I was searching for a "miracle fix" and found your post! That registry editing method works perfectly. All I had to change was that "08" setting to "04", then change my monitor resolution to something else and then back to 1920x1080 again, for a PERFECT snug fit of my window against the edge of the screen! Couldn't find the 59mhz refresh rate that this monitor is supposed to use, but that's cool. There's only 1mhz difference between 59mhz and the 60mhz rate that I now have. Can't see any difference at all. Once again, thank-you very much, Leecifer.

I hav e installed windows 10 (x64) Enterprise on multiple Elitebook 8460w's and have 2 missing drivers. When I right click them in computer Mgmt and update them I get a message saying "Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device". Then it says it found the driver but encountered an error while attempting to install it. "Intel (R) 6 series/C200 Series Chipset Family USBG Enhanced Host Controller - 1C26). I'm at a loss, I've tried everything I can think of. Again, this has happened on about 4 or these identical laptops. Any help is greatly appreciated. -Steve

hi HP, recently i just bought new laptop with windows 10 OS but i choose to use windows 7 pro because i was more comfortable with it, but as soon as i install it i can`t find my laptop driver for windows 7 and i also can`t use windows update because it just keeps going. can you give me some advice ? it would help alot. i need the drivers so that i can repeat installation process, hoping that my windows update problem would be solved. thank you (please forgive my poor english) BIOS Version/Date Insyde F.08, 21/04/2016SMBIOS Version 2.8 Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi AdapterPCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridgeRealtek PCIe FE Family Controller IRQ 18   Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host ControllerIRQ 18   Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller AMD Radeon(TM) R5 GraphicsPci Bus hp DVDRW  DU8A6SH ATA Device Adapter Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) Type Ethernet 802.3 Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller Adapter Type Ethernet 802.3

If you need drivers, please follow these steps:1. In the Run box type devmgmt.msc.2. Unknown devices would be listed as such and marked out with a yellow question mark.3. Select the unknown device or other device for which you need drivers and right click to access Properties.4. In the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id  or Hardware ID from the drop down.5. An alphanumeric string like this PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_7130&SUBSYS_012F1025&REV_01\4&6B16D5B&0&33F0 is the identification marker for the device.6. Please provide this number so that we can suggest the appropriate driver.

I am sure I am not the first to uprade to from Win7 -> Win10-64 (HP-2560P) only to find that the BT fails.  That being said, I did not see (missed?) it on the HP driver site; https://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5071202&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4132 1) Is there a link to the a working Win7,8,or 10 bluetooth driver?2) Is there an alternative remedy? The system is kept up-to-date (so says Microsoft), so updating the drivers through Microsoft is not a solution.  History shows that Win7 drivers **may** be successful in Win10, so it is worth experimenting / trying Please respond with links and test results if you have successfully resolved this problem on a 2560p.  Although I am sure that everyone is trying to be helpful, I would prefer to hear from those that have actually perfomed the remedy on an HP 2560P.  Thank you

Hi there!

So I tried to update from Windows 8 to 10 last week.
That didn't work for me, so I had to format everything and install Windows 10 afterwards.

At first neither W-LAN nor LAN would work. Then I un- & reinstalled the W-LAN driver so now everything's fine except for my ethernet connection.

- Adapter is enabled
- I have un- & reinstalled the driver multiple times (even tried compatability mode, since some sites state that the latest version for AR8161 only supports win 8)
- I was about a thousand times in the properties menu of the ethernet adapter

The full name of the adapter is "Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)"

I really do not want to lose all the stuff I already configured, so if some of you can help me with this issue I would be very grateful.
Huge Edit:

I just ran diagnostics on the ethernet adapter and after trying to fix some network protocols Windows prompted me with this.
So I tried to fix this by entering

Code:
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

Code:
sfc /scannow

Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Code:
sfc /scannow
in cmd which sadly didn't do the trick.
Neither did entering

Code:
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
in cmd (admin ofc) after editing the permissions for the "26" folder in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Nsi/{eb004a00-9b1a-11d4-9123-0050047759bc} so the group "everyone" has "fu... Read more

Hi: You need this driver for the PCI Serial Port... This package contains the Intel Local Management Service (LMS) and Serial-over-LAN (SOL) support for Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) for the supported desktop models and operating systems. This software is part of the Intel Digital Office Initiative. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45367.exe

I have an Intel Family HD 4400 Graphics card on my laptop and I have updated the driver as of an hour ago (latest driver released August 12, 2015).  Before I upgraded to Win10 I never had a problem with my graphics, even playing Skyrim or other graphics demanding games, but now, even watching a streaming video online, my graphics driver crashes and recovers...  constantly.  I've tried rolling back the graphics driver as well and still I have crashes.  Anyone else having this issue?  I've searched all over and haven't found much about graphics drivers being affected after the Win10 upgrade, but anyone who has had issues either just updated the driver or rolled back their driver and the problem was fixed, so I really don't know where else to look for ideas on how to resolve this problem.

I don't know what all details would be needed, but I'll list some hardware specs here:

Dell Inspiron 17r 5750...? (or something like that)
Intel core i7-4500 cpu 1.8 GHz 2.4GHz
64 bit OS
8 GB Ram
Windows 10 Home Edition
Intel Family HD 4400 Graphics

Event viewer only says (for each display driver crash and recovery),

"Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

If anyone has a clue, please let me know.  Much appreciated...

A:Win10 upgrade, now Graphics Driver keeps crashing and recovering

Dell Inspiron 17r 5750 or something like that.....This needs to be verified.

I imagine it would be crucial ....otherwise the compatibility issue will remain in doubt.

Hey all,
I have just finished a complete new installation of Win 10 64-bit on my Latitude E6230. However, the soundcard does not work. I did not install any extra drivers for audio or video, Win 10 did this all by itself. In the device manager there is only one entry under audio called "intel display-audio" and it is not possible to install the IDT driver, because during the installation process it says that the hardware is not compatible.
If I uninstall "intel display-audio" the entry is renamed "windows hd audio etc", but still no sound. However the sound works with external USB DAC speakers and Bluetooth speakers.
I have checked every solution I found on the dell and the microsoft site but nothing worked :/
I would be so happy if it worked again :)

Hi!Since a few weeks the power management driver update failed. The insallation process runs without problems and is followed by a reboot. No errors occur but also no notifications about the update in the Win10 info center. When i run the Lenovo system update tool again, it still shows the same update. I ran through this several times now and also tried to download the driver manually from the website without success. The update is declared as critical, what makes me think it is critical. Can someone help me? It is quite annoyingBestFlo

Trying to do the Windows 10 upgrade from 8.1 on XPS 15 9530 and I get error:
!Display: The Display is not compatible with Windows 10.  Check with the manufacture for support.
I have the latest Dell updates of the Nvida GeForce GT 750M and Intel HD Graphics 4600 for windows 8.1.
Per Dell the XPS 15 is supported for Win 10 and per Nvida , the GT750M driver is supported.

How can I get Win 10 on the laptop.  I had tried it before and had same errors.  Time running out.

I have an HP Envy 15 laptop running Win 10, and a few days ago the sound just cut out. I've tried the usual reinstallation of both the IDT HD audio driver and the generic Windows audio driver, as well as finding the latest drivers on the HP website, to no avail. On the occasional restart, I have sound briefly upon boot for about 10 seconds, then it disappears. There seem to be other effects too: volume control in the taskbar seems to be very slow and laggy to respond to mouse clicks, and the control panel sound window also lags. When I test the speakers in the control panel, the volume bars light up as usual, and troubleshooting seems to indicate nothing wrong with my audio, despite there being no sound.

Really frustrated as there seems to be nothing else I can do, anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
