Two-finger right click doesn't work on Yoga 11e Chromebook

Q: Two-finger right click doesn't work on Yoga 11e Chromebook

I just got a new Yoga 11e Chromebook and can't get the two-finger right-click touchpad function to work. The Settings for the touchpad don't seem to apply. Any ideas? I went to the Lenovo support site to see about updated drivers, but none were shown.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi I have just bought a Yoga 710 and i've got a problem with the touchpad : i can't use "right click" function with my two finger on the touchpad. I've seen a similar probleme on that thread : https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-13-Two-finger-tap-right-click-functio... But i have a hard time understanding the manipulation because it doesn't fit with my menus (for example i don't have a "disable" button for the elan device..). I've tried to reach the french hotline of Lenovo but they don't know how to solve this I don't know if it is a software or hardware problem but it would be too bad to ask for a return for this unique problem Thanks by advance for your help !

Hi Just wanted to share and in the event I need to information later it's nice to be able to find it on the internet if I forget. I bought a Yoga 500 14-IBD (born with Win10 - not upgraded) as is was on sale and I figured why not I need a second machine. It's actually a very nice machine and the Pentium seems much better at everyday tasks than I imagined (though of it as Atom-like performance but actually its more like just below i3)However not everything is rose red. Like the 900 and probably many other of Lenovo's other laptops it got a very annoying problem. NO TWO FINGER TAP FOR RIGHT CLICK ! Argh !!!! Beyond me a reputable manufacturer manage to get two finger tap wrong !!! The Yoga 500 I got is as said the low end version of the 500 (although it got FHD IPS) and probably that's why they put in an ALPS touchpad while my 900 got a Synaptics. I found no information regarding enable two finger tap to right click on ALPS touchpads on the internet so I messed around a little in regedit (I'm pretty confident so wasn't worried, worst case revert values) thought why not share. 1. Open regedit2. Goto - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Apls\Apoint\Gesture3. Edit 2TapShow set value to 14. Edit 2TapSupport set value to 15. Edit 2TapSetting set value to decimal 13 (hexadecimal d)6. Do the same for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Alps\Apoint\Gesture7. Restart machine Step 5 is optional. You can now in the ALPS control panel under multi finger set what you want two ... Read more

Sorry for a minor error! I was about writing this in my OneNote and discovered an error. The point 5 is 2TapFunc NOT setting(!) However it probably doesn't mean a lot - only that you should open the ALPS control panel to then set the two finger tapping function instead of it working right after regedit and restart. Sorry for inconvinience but forum doesn't allow me to edit a post efter some time!

I just got this notebook few days ago and overall I'm very satisfied but I have a problem that I'm not being able to use two finger tap as a right click which I got very used to with my last laptop. I've tried using the guide one of the members posted on this problem, but I'm not able to follow the guide since my regedit is different (there is no Alps section, SS below). Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, im trying to figure out, how to enable 3 finger tap for a middle mouse click on my yoga 720 15. There are some solutions out there suggesting editing the registry, but i don't have the entries they name and no other entries, that could be related to the touchpad for that matter. The device manager lists the touchpad simply as "hid-compatible touchpad" with no further information. I even tried installing the synaptics software on the off chance, that that would work, but it said, that no synaptic device was detected. I can switch the 3 finger tap from opening cortana to opening the info center, to doing nothing, but thats it. Can anyone help me? regards Sebastian

There seem to be many Lenovo laptops in which two finger touch to open the right click menu has never worked.  There has only been one driver update for the Synaptics touchpad since my Yoga 900's release in late 2015.  It didn't work on either version of the driver.  Lenovo prevents me from installing generic Synaptics driver updates. On my Yoga 900, there is a registry fix for it.  I am posting it here (much later than I should have) so that other people can find it.  Using Google to search for the fix doesn't provide too much guidance, so hopefully this post will appear in future search results. 1.  Open regedit.  (Just type "regedit" in the search bar at the lower left of your screen.  Click on the "best match" for the search, where it says "Run command" 2.  Navigate to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Win10 3.  Right click on the "TwoFingerTapAction" DWORD on the right side of the screen. 4.  Change the value to "2" (without the quotes). 5.  Click OK 6.  Reboot

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8 and upgraded to Windows 8.1.

I absolutely love the two finger scroll feature. It's very convenient in web browsers and the start menu. However, it doesn't always work, and I can't find a trend for when it works. It simply works sometimes and not others.

Where can I configure the settings so that I always have two finger scroll?

A:Two finger scrolling doesn't always work

Thru playing around I found that 2 finger scroll won't work if one finger starts off of the edge of the pad. Make sure that both fingers plant on the pad itself when starting a scroll. I operate my pad with my left hand and I had a lot of trouble accidentally hitting the left edge when I first got win 8. I long ago disabled whatever the left edge swipe was. The same might be true for the right edge for right-handers.

Currently 2 finger scroll is reliable for me. I guess it could also be a driver issue with your particular pad.

I updated my computer about 1/2 weeks ago and the 2 touch scroll feature doesn't work. I went to advanced touchpad settings to see if I could fix it there but the results were that it is on. I went to check if maybe I did it wrong and sure enough it still
didn't work at all. Can you please either give me a step by step guide on fixing this or a link to a bit of software that fixes this?
And yes the touchpad is up to date, the system won't even let me click it.

I am the proud owner of an HP Envy TouchSmart 17-njr Notebook PC.  This unit comes with a Biometric fingerprint reader.  For reasons unrelated to the hardware, I had to end my computer to factory for fctory refurbishment.  My PC has since been returned.  Prior to sending the machine in for repairs, the Biometric fingerprint scanner worked perfectly.  WHen I received my computer back from the factory, the fingerprint scanner functioned normally, until I tried to install windows 10.  The installation failed, and for various reasons, I was forced to refresh my PC no less then 3 times!  Finallt, the native windows 8.1 started working again and now everything on my PC operates normally except for the Biometric fingerprint scanner. When I go to 'settings', and select 'account', and then select 'sign-in options' and try to set up the fingerprint scanner, the device works normally.  However, when logging in at start up, the device is unresponsive. Also, HP Simplepass doesn't seem to work.  When I select HP Simple pass in start or File manager or COntrol panel an error message is given: "A refferel was returned form the server".   I have already tried the following fixes: 1.) Hi, Open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry for HP SimplePass and select Uninstall. When this has completed, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, download the version of HP SimplePass on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71729.exe When the download has completed, open your Downloads folder, right click the SimplePass installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. Again, when this has completed, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, open windows Control Panel and in the top right, next to View by: select 'Large Icons'.  From the new layout, select the HP SimplePass entry and see if you can set up your fingerprint log-on. Regards, DP-K

Try this:
1) Go into c:\program files\DellTPad\
2) In this dir I have
  a)  DellTouchpad.exe: this is the app called from control panel whose picture you posted.
  b)  DellTPad.exe alternate utility to set touchpad setting. When launching this I have this option (translating into english) "one finger actions/multi-finger actions", and then it allows you to set single finger vertical/horizontal scrolling.

First of all, what operating system are you running?

Secondly, what browser (and version of it) are you using?

This doesn't belong in the General Security forum so I'll move it to the proper forum once you reply with this information.

In the meantime, a workaround is to right-click the link and then select "copy link location" in Firefox or "copy shortcut" in IE to get the full URL to paste into the address bar.

When right-clicking on files I notice that it only selects them (that is, brings up the context menu I'd expect for the thing I tried to click) when I actually click on the text of the filename or the preview/icon itself, and not just the surrounding area. For example, when I mouse over something in details view, it highlights the entire row, but if I right-click on the whitespace instead of the text itself, it just opens the context menu for the folder itself.

Anyone know how to change this behavior so the highlighted item's context menu shows up or is this just how 7 operates? It's certainly confusing user behavior...

Hello TrueDis, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Yes, in Windows 7 and Vista you would need to right click on the actual file or item that you want to see the context menu of. There is no way to change this that I am aware of.

A:Middle click doesn't work

Hi, welcome to TSF

Has it ever worked or is this a new problem?

Try setting it to a different command, not 'middle click'. If the new setting doesn't work and the drivers and software are installed correctly, then it could be a faulty button. When you push the button does it feel like it's clicking or does it feel like it could be jammed?

What software are you trying to use the middle click in? Sometimes you have to set it in both the mouse settings and the program's options, like in games for example.

Hello guys!

First post here , so, cheers to all!

Here's my problem:

I upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate x64 to Windows 8 Pro x64 and then to 8.1 (too many installed programs for a clean install)

Now, when I right click a shortcut and do "Open" or "run as administrator" it does nothing. If I double click it, it works fine. Also, if I try to open a cmd from the bottom left context menu it also doesn't work. I've no problems though to do "open" or "run as administrator" on the actual executable files, the problem is the shortcuts. Obviously there's something in the registry that needs fixing, but I've no idea what. I've tried all the usuals, sfc scanning, ccleaner, etc, but no luck. I tried with shellexview to check what is registered where in the context menu, but I didn't find that very helpful either. The same happens in safe mode too.

Any idea guys? Plz help!

I did assoc .lnk at cmd and returned "lnkfle" and then I did ftype lnkfile and returned that nothing is associated with this. Dunno if that's how it should be in 8, but that's the same winxp returns.

I?m using a Windows XP computer. When I click on anything on the desktop I get an hourglass that just hangs and everything on the desktop freezes. After several minutes I get an error message. Then I get a dialog box asking if I want to send an error report.

I can right click my trash bin and get the menu fine. I can right click an icon and move it fine, but it doesn't work if I want to delete an icon from the desktop or right click to get the menu. It also doesn't work if I want to delete a file or folder from My Documents.

I tested the right click with another mouse and got the same results, so at least I know it must be software related. I'm contemplating reinstalling the software, but I don't want to mess anything up. Is there an easier way to install only the software concerning the mouse?

I don't remember when the issue began, but it's been at least a week. Until this happened I wasn?t aware that I relied on the right click button so much.

Thank you for any assistance you may give

A:[SOLVED] The right click on my mouse doesn't work

Hi Artgirl,

Unplug the mouse and re-plug it again and see if that helps. You can also re-install the mouse drivers and see if that works for you too. I recommend going to the manufacturer's website of the mouse and downloading the latest drivers for your mouse device. Un-install the current drivers first before you install the latest mouse drivers. May I ask, what is the brand/model of your mouse device? Hope everything works out well for you.

would be great if the right click on my synaptic touchpad worked. Was fine until I moved from win7 to win 10.

A:right click on my synaptic touchpad doesn't work

If the touchpad works (not defective), and only started the behavior since moving to 10, then I would guess it is a problem with the touchpad driver.

It could be due to the wrong driver being installed, a corrupted driver installation, or a driver conflict.
Since the generic Windows 10 touchpad driver seems to work well with Synaptics hardware for most folks, we can start with a bad driver install.

The first thing to try is to go into Device Manager and uninstall the touchpad. If asked to remove the driver also, do so. Then restart the laptop and the touchpad will be reinstalled with the same driver. Test.

Otherwise, go to the laptop manufacturer's website and find the most recent driver offered there for your touchpad. Try and install that driver and test.

This is Windows XP, Pentium processor.

When I turn the computer on, the LED light signifying that the keyboard is working turns on until Windows starts to load, and then it suddenly shuts off.

When the Desktop loads, it is a nightmare to use. I click on folders and files half a dozen times before they open. Then I move the mouse and it selects everything in its path, though neither side of the mouse is "clicked." Finally, when I try to write an email (or other text), it opens, the cursor blinks, but my typing has no effect.

A:Mouse click either doesn't work or sticks

Hmmm........I would try to boot into safe mode and scan the computer for any viruses and spyware. Do boot into safe mode you will need to keep pressing F8 when you turn on your computer. Then a black screen with plenty selections comes up and choose "safe mode". Once you get to safe mode scan your computer for any viruses and spyware.

Did this happen all of a sudden? If the virus and spyware programs dont detect anything then I recommend performing a windows repair on that computer. You will need your windows xp CD to do this of course.
