I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I created a usb boot drive with Rufus and , plugged it into a windows 10 pc that I want to upgrade! to windows 7 and all looked good because the bootdisk was accepted and said it was loading files to install windows but then just froze with the windows 7 logo.

I cant imagine , what the problem is afterall I booted from windows 10 , restart in uefi usb mode . All started well and then froze like that.

Everytime i try again it freezes on the windows 7 logo after install has started.

Is it possible to reinstall windows 7?

Possibly I did not make the right rufus , settings. Who knows what settings in Rufus to make? Or is this another problem again.

Installing XP on a newer computer, particularly a laptop, can be a serious challenge. And one that may eventually prove futile. There are multiple issues but one serious one is the lack of XP compatible device drivers. Manufacturers find it difficult to justify the considerable effort required to develop device drivers for what is essentially an obsolete OS. Most abandoned XP years ago.

If you really must run XP it would be best to do so in a virtual machine.

I have a Asus UX32A
The system has two disks. 1: 24GB SSD on the motherboard. 2: 500GB Hitachi hard drive.
I have formatted both disks since Windows was installed on the 24GB SSD drive and was getting to large for that drive.
Now since the format, I have installed the Windows 7 Home Premium X64 on the 500GB hard drive.
Now to the problem:
How can I make the OS to understand that it needs to use the 24GB SSD drive for every program (and the OS itself) that uses cache to be working?
How can I make the two drives to cooperate together so that I get the SSD performance boost?
Would be glad to hear from all the IT gurus who knows how to make this cooporation work!

My Asus X51H did not come with a wireless card. So, I bought the Intel Pro 3945ABG and installed it. attached is a picture of my card

i have attached the antenna properly. the intel wireless manager can not switch it on and gives the error message (Attachment)

the wireless Fn-F2 does not turn it on and the wireless LED does not light.
this machine does nto have any other external switch for wireless.

i feel thsi is an issue that can be solved by covering one or more pins with a tape as in the case of the following thread:
however, my wireless card has different pin configuration as you can clearly see in the picture. does anyone have any idea which pin to cover with tape?

thanks for the help in advance.

###I have attached the photo of my wireless card and the error message screenshot.

A:Installing Intel Pro 3945ABG Wireless card to Asus X51H laptop

problem solved

my vendor tipped me about the pin to cover with tape. its pin 20.
i covered the pin 20 with scotch tape and put it back into the slot.
the card is working fine.

in case you can't find the pin 20, here is a diagram. the second pin from the notch at the bottom side of the card is pin20
you have to be careful not to cut the board while cutting the tape. covering the pin20 only is a tricky thing. it took to half an hour.
i have attached a pictorial description of the pins.

Asus has some way of starting their programs that I can't find. In particular, I want to disable their Wireless Console 3 (wcourier.exe). There are other programs but I can't remember what they are right now. I can only tell you that is does not show up in msconfig or HJT. Does anybody know where I can find these startup entries?

A:Asus Laptop can't find startup entries for Asus Programs

Try using Sysinternals Autoruns.
It lists a lot more than msconfig.

You can download the Sysinternals Suite, or just the Autoruns utility.

Hello all,

I have a win 8.1 pre-installed Asus N55S laptop and now I want to install Win 7 x64 on it using a USB stick. But there is no USB neither in boot options nor in boot options in BIOS when I press ESC key. How to solve this issue please?

A:Installing Win 7 on Asus using USB

I believe you would be looking for Secure boot and seeing if you can disable that
Also look for OS Type and see if there is any other than uefi only as a option.

First off I would plan on testing the install with a totally different hdd or ssd and save the original if things don't go well then besides the cost of the other drive there is no loss.

hi guys,

i have a asus ux360c notebook

it upgraded to 10 and i want to go back to 8

now most machines i have rolled back on have detected the license off the chip and installed fine
but this asks for key on both 8.1 home and pro

is it true that the license could be for 8 not 8.1 and you have to clean install with an 8 media
not 8.1? i read this on another forum,but dont think i ever had this problem...8.1 always worked so far

i even tried taking the 10 license which was 10 home (does this mean 8 home was previously running? would think so...) and putting it in...didnt think it would work but tried...it didnt duh.

or do you think this is one of those cases i have to get original installation media from asus themselves?

Hi there, first post from newbie.

I'm pretty proficient with general use on computers and I want to install W7 pro x64 on my new rig.

On the Asus website driver support only goes to vista, and I have read that the vista x64 drivers are not supported for W7. Can anyone give me a tutorial on how to install W7 on this machine please?

I get into installation and it asks for a CD/DVD drive device driver is needed to carry on etc. I am just wondering if that is a driver for the DVD ROM or another device on the mobo.

Thanks in advance, would really appreciate the help!

A:Installing W7 on Asus P5E-VM HDMI how?

The request for a device driver usually indicates a corrupt installation disk, sometimes due to a bad burn from an .iso.

Windows 7 includes lot of drivers, although not all. You may be able to find Win7 drivers for all of the components on your motherboard. The specs on the board are here:

ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P5E-VM HDMI

I don't know where to get updated drivers for the Atheros L1 network device. Vista drivers can probably be used, in a pinch.

Hello.Today I newly bought a new ASUS GTX1050. The problem that occured was that the PC did not boot and beeped several times ( don't know how many times it was ). So I researched a bit about that issue, it turns out that my old BIOS is not compatible with my new GPU.I tried to update my BIOS which is on 7.06 version right now. I installed a BIOS update that I downloaded from the official site but it did not update my BIOS, so I am requesting an immediate help on that issue. I can't really figure out how I am supposed to update my BIOS because I have zero knowledge of it.I replaced my new one with GT610 which I was using before, it works without any problems.Thanks.

Has anyone had any success installing Asus Suite 3 V.10082 64-bit? I just built a new Asus Z97-Deluxe PC running windows 8.1 64-Bit and have tried multiple time installing Asus Aisuite 3, but each time I install it will install into the program files(x86) folder and runs in 32-Bit. Same with my Asus Gryphon Z87 motherboard. I never gave it a second thought. The only component I install is the Thermal Radar fan control, and it works perfectly and causes no side effects, i.e. no memory leaks, no excessive CPU usage, no interference with sleep, etc. Do you have evidence that it is supposed to install 64 bit programs?

I've almost finished my new build. With my old PC I made mistakes installing stuff that I didn't need or ultimately didn't like, allowing extras to be included etc. I was determined not to do that this time.
The ASUS mobo has a support disk with drivers and their Suite II on it. I've loaded the drivers that I need but so far I haven't touched the Suite II software. For my motherboard  I am offered the following:
TurboV EVO; EPU; Remote Go; Wi-Fi Go remote; USB3.0 Boost; Fan Xpert; MyLogo; ASUS update; AI Charger+; System Information and Network-i control.
There's also a host of stuff on the utilities section apart from Suite II, most of which seems to be covered by Suite II apart from DAEMON tools pro.
Has anyone got experience of these devices and if so, would you say they were worth installing...I don't particularly want heaps of stuff running in the background or constantly nagging me for permission to run, offering upgrades etc. I know I have no use for Remote Go, WiFi go remote, Ai Charger+ and Network-i Control, so that just leaves your opinion on the items in blue. Fan Xpert may be redundant with my set-up too, since the 3 case fans are run from the hardware controller.
Here's my build, in case that helps you to offer advice:

A:Asus Suite II: Is it worth installing?

Asus Suite II is just a waste of space and resources, don't install it. Just install the necessary drivers from the disk, but none of those utilities. All over-clocking, etc, can be done on BIOS instead. I might just choose Fan Xpert, because that's the only good thing out of the whole suite.

About installing new drivers:
nividia drivers, nvidia nview desktop manager, nvidia PhysX are installed, do i have to uninstall all of them?

To uninstall, I use configuration settings>software and then uninstall the drivers, restart computer and then install the new drivers.
Anything else I should do before installing new drivers?

I'm building a computer and need a little help. Here's my problem:

I have a Asus P5AD2 Deluxe motherboard and a Ultra ATA hard drive. On this board, I only have 1 Primary IDE connector. I can't hook up a single CD-ROM with my HD because the cable isn't long enough to reach from one drive to the other after connecting it to the motherboard. (The IDE connector just happens to be up where the CD-ROM is located) However, even if there was a way, I want to eventually add a DVD-RW drive, which means I'd have 3 drives to hook up with only 1 IDE connector to do it with. I haven't been able to find a cable that either supports that or is the length I need it to be.

So is the only solution for me to buy an IDE adapter card for a PCI slot?

or is there a way I can simply plug my hard drive into my IDE Raid connector with having only 1 hard drive?

OR is there some other solution???

Thanks for any response!

A:Installing HD on my Asus P5AD2 motherboard

So, I did a clean windows 8.1 install in my ASUS laptop, but I'm having some problems installing some drivers and this ATK is one of them.

It is a download that comes zipped, inside there is a setup.exe and a folder called data which contains a windows package named 409.msi and another file that I'm not familiar with (the extension), called ATKPI.CAB.

So here comes the problem: I start the setup and when it starts installing the driver, a msg pops up saying:

The same problem is happening to ASUS smart gesture.

And I'm also having problems with a card reader driver and a lan driver, both from realtek. But the error is different, is something like "abnormal interruption", the setup doesn't even start.

I'm have no idea of what to do. Could anyone help me out? Thanks a lot

A:Problem installing ASUS ATKPackage

what is the path to - ATKPI.CAB - where is it..

worst case go into your downloads \ create folder "3atkpackage-----" \ create folder "data"

and put the cab file in it - since that is where setup is looking for it..

What is up with the drive_r links ?????

I bought me Eee PC with Windows 7 Starter Edition and immediately had a friend of mine upgrade it to 7 Pro. The problem is, I don't have a disc drive, but he downloaded the install file from his school's website (they give free copies to their students with extra licenses). He had to create a partition on my C drive to put the install files so they would install on the original partition of the C drive.

Now, I have a problem. I need to reformat my PC and I don't want to be stuck with 7 Starter. I'm wondering how I would go about doing this. The install files should be on the partition still (labeled WIN7INSTALL) but I can't view the files. Also, I have no idea how to reformat a computer (I'm not too experienced with this kind of thing).

Is it possible to reformat the portion of the drive that doesn't contain the install files so that the install files will still remain? I lost the original 7 Pro install program, so I need the install files that were extracted to that partition we created to store them, but I'm afraid if I format the drive, I will lose them.

So, my questions are:

1) How do I do reformat my PC?
2) How do I NOT reformat the partition that contain the extracted 7 Pro install files?
3) If it's possible to do (1) and (2), how do I access these install files so I can run them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if there are any other steps to this process that I'm not considering, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I purchased the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE netbook 2 weeks ago and the Windows Update has been working fine. The Operating System I am using is Windows 7 Starter.

Recently I always get the prompt to install the "Security Update for SQL Server 2005 SP3 (KB970892)" and this update just keeps on failing. When using Windows Help I get the following ""WindowsUpdate_0000737D" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"" and I did try their possible solution which failed. The error code is 737d. Please see the screenshot explaining the log.

I have tried manually installing the update and this has also failed. I have searched Google on the error and found this Microsoft forum explaining a fix (read 2nd post)

I tried to follow what the post said but I didn't stop any SQL services as it was not clearly specified. Secondly where the person mentions about the regedit, I navigated to the location but couldn't find what the user was talking about. Also I learnt at work the modifying the registry can be harmful - however a backup of the registry is always good so I can go back to my old settings.

If you need any more information please let me know and I will provide.

Thank you and look forward to the replies.

Do you have the power cable plugged into the drive as well? If the computer is powered on, can you push the button to open the tray? If not, then it would definitely be a power issue. It may seem like a simple step, but I'm only asking because you didn't mention it...only the SATA data cable.

I'm building a new pc with a Asus M3N78-EM mb and AMD Phenom 9600.
I tried installing Windows 7 Ultimate (Bld 7000) 64 bit and was getting the BSOD around the point of expanding files during the install. I tried a couple times, same results. I then updated to the latest bios for the mb and tried installing again. The install goes much further, during the part of "completing install" i get the BSOD. I tried 3 more times, everytime BSOD around the same part of the install. Can someone tell me if this is a mb bios issue, a bad cpu issue or a windows 7 64-bit issue? I tried installing Windows 7 beta 32-bit, and this installed successfully on the first try. This is nothing fancy with my new system, 4 gb (1066) GSkill memory, all default bios settings, sata hd's (non raid).

Gday people Im almost ready to install my new Samsung 830 series SSD 256GB drive (some miner screw issues means I cant do it tonight).
Now do I need AHCU enabled for my E-Sata connection or is IDE ok ?

Also should I upgrade the BIOS and can someone point me to a tutorial for that?

A:Installing a new SSD on my Asus UX32VD do I need AHCI enabled?

Look for a BIOS upgrade on the Support Downloads webpage for your exact model. The instructions for running it will be on it's download page or in a ReadMe file which is extracted with the installer, so pay attention to where it extracts the file and browse there first before running the installer.

Some owners are hesitant to install a BIOS update if it doesn't specify needed improvements, but I always upgrade the BIOS at reinstall because there are sometimes improvements not specified.

As a matter of course I also always enable the most modern AHCI mode in the BIOS when checking if the new SSD is detected after unplugging all other HD's and installing the SSD. In the rare case that the install fails you can try IDE mode to see if that remedies the failure.

Study over the steps in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which will assure you get and maintain a perfect reinstall if you stick with the methods and tools therein.

[IHowever,[/I] since then, I have had absolutely no sound. In "Sounds and Audio Devices" I discovered that Ati was listed as my default sound device, replacing the Realtek that was there before. It appeared to be playing in WMP, but no sound came out of the speakers.
I did all the usual things ~ checked that it was enabled, not muted, updated the driver, and any number of other suggestions found on various forums. I re-installed Realtek, but when I re-booted... TA DA..there was Ati still. I then uninstalled Ati and tried again with Realtek. Now it just says no audio device installed. OH! and right from the beginning, it had that annoying "No Volume Control Program installed" window leaping up at me when I tried to put an icon in the task bar... which many have had a problem with, I know.

After 2 months of obsessively trying to fix this, I'm ready to take a hammer to my previously beloved computer. I now have neither Ati or Realtek installed, everything is just greyed-out in the sound and audio device window. Something must be incompatible with something, but I'm completely out of ideas on how to fix this, finally.
Sorry to be so long-winded, but thought it better to be thorough off the bat. SAVE MY CHRISTMAS! (and my sanity!) Any... Read more

Has anyone try to install 2 ATI 3870 as crossfire for Asus M3A32-MVP motherboard and running at 16x speed at the sametime?

If so, please tell me how can it done? Coz in the manual, if i install PCIe slot 1 running 16x, as for PCIe slot 2 running 1x that if i config as crossfire mode.

Any help???

A:Help on installing crossfire on Asus M3A32-MVP motherboard

In the bios make sure the GFX express configuration is showing auto for the dual slot setup but you can force the setting if you like.

Make sure you have the crossfire cable atached and both cards should rum at 16x...

I havent installed 2 3870s yet so if the problem persists you may want to check with Asus for compatibility or a possible bios update.

If you have a USB DVD drive, Boot into Setup (Bios) to Boot Priority change it to USB as First Boot Device using the arrow key.
On another computer download the ISO image for Seatools in my signature burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Put the disc in the USB DVD rom drive and restart the computer. You should see the message, Press Any Key to Boot From USB. Run the Short and Long tests on the HDD. This may solve the problem but if either tests fail the HDD will need to be replaced. If it is successful, try the System Recovery again (F9)

I have Asus K501UX-Q72S-CB Bilingual Notebook, i7-6500U windows 10 installed. I would like to wipeout the harddrive and install win7 ultimate.

Use rufus to create the win7 installer but got stuck during installation on the language screen with no mouse cursor.

Please help.

A:Need help installing win7 ultimate to asus notebook

Does it have usb 3.0 ports, you could hook up an external mouse and keyboard.

But you`d have to create a windows 7 installer with the usb 3.0 drivers integrated and start over.

I use Asus EZ Installer, works like a charm.

Support Center | ASUS USA

The specs say it has 2 usb 2.0 ports, you should be able to use those to hook up a mouse and keyboard.

Hey there, i have been trying to install Windows 8 Pro that i got from from Dreamspark on my ASUS G51J, the installation boot hangs for a very long time (about 20min) on a purple screen after the windows 8 splash logo, then (finally) the language prompt appears and when i click install now it hangs for about another hour on "Setup is being initialized."... if i wait it will say it installed but the windows 8 will not boot (hangs on splash screen). Tried to boot the same installation on a friend's computer (with the same CPU) and it booted fine, with no hangs or delays. IDK what is happening. Please help, i need my computer. lol

Asus P4V800D-X chipset drivers not installing

I have been having VPU Recover errors with my 9600PRO ever since I have got my new VIA-based ASUS motherboard and so I contacted ATI support after updating graphics drivers, rolling them back, trying out third-party ones. I had to send an "ATI Error Report" to them and it says my chipset date is 2002, yet I have tried to install the Hyperion 4 in 1.

My northbridge is PT880 Ultra and that is mentioned on the Hyperion 4 in 1 compatible motherboards but the PT880 and the PT880Pro is there so I went for it but I have tried to install about 5 times now and the date is the same and the driver version is:

I don't really know if this is old or what and was wondering if you could help because I don't know what to do now.

P.S. I have updated my BIOS as ATI have asked also.

Thankyou, any reply is appreciated.

I'm building a new rig with Asus SK8V Board & Athlon64 FX-53 (940). I'm done with the hardware aspect of this project. I'm left with installing Win XP Pro. on;y to discover that the motherboard is not recognizing the two WD SATA Drives I've installed.

I went to the Bios to try to disable the parallel drives setups and so forth but to no avail.

What annoys me most is, it lists both SATA drives briefly during the initial boots, but that's it, it turns around & states, "

"Primary IDE master : not detected.
*Secondary IDE: Not detected

Finally I get the message: "No drive attached to FastTrack controller... BIOS not installed"

* I have two WD Caviar SATA Drives, 120G & 200G installed on the board's SATA1 & 2 Chanels. (Not interested in RAID Cofigurations at the momtent)
* ATI's X800 Pro Card,
* PC-Power & Cooling's Turbo Cool 510 Deluxe PSU.
* Plextor 712A Optical Drive.

Will be glad if anyone could give some pointers as to what I need to do in order to get WinXP Pro. Istalled.

All suggestions are welcome please.

i recently received my asus eee pc 1001xpd. i knew beforehand it would come without an operating system. the only thing it comes with is the express gate cloud.
well, i want to install windows. at this point i don't care if it has to be XP.

i tried two different ways with the usb boot method. i tried using wintoflash and i also did the long way by using the command prompt.
well, after booting it up by using the command prompt, it said the bootmgr is missing. so, i restarted it and it said missing operating system. so i couldn't even access the express gate. luckily i was able to do a factory setting restore.

I'm not sure what I am supposed to do now. I don't want to risk damaging my netbook.
Is there another way to guarantee the windows operating system will boot without problems? i tried to install windows 7. Thanks!

ok i tried again. this time i used the wintoflash method. i got to the screen where it asks me the main language i want the opearting system to be in. but, then it said there are missing drivers. i thought you could install and operating system without having to download drivers?

(A required CD/DVD drive devicer driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, yo can safely remove it)

I'm using the USB. Should I remove it and then attach it again?

This problem is driving me crazy. I am simply trying to upgrade my processor from an Athlon 1400 to a Athlon 2400XP on an Asus A7A266 motherboard. I have upgraded the bios to the latest version 1012.

The problem is this:

To get it to recognise the new processor I have to set the Multiplier in the BIOS to 15X. To do that I have to go from Jumperless Mode into Jumper Mode and set the DIP Switches. When I do that and turn the PC on it does not boot properly and I cannot get a picture on my monitor. I have set the DIP Switches to the following:
1 = OFF
2 = OFF
3 = OFF
4 = ON
5 = OFF
6 = OFF
7 = OFF
8 = ON
9 = ON
10 = ON

In boot up in Jumperless Mode the new processor is recognised as a 2000ghz and it goes straight into the bios for me to make changes. But I cannot do so unless I change to Jumper Mode.

I would appreciate any help or advice. Sadly Asus have not been much help.

Thank you.

Hey everyone! I've been having this really complicated problem installing Windows XP Pro SP1 on my Asus SK8N motherboard using my 120 gig SATA HDD. XP setup isn't recognizing my hard drive at all! Ive tried using the included setup driver floppy disk, XP setup loads those fine but still doesnt find the hard drive. The strange thing is I can use the very same set of drivers within Windows (setup on an ATA drive) to recognize the SATA drive easily. I found a workaround for this problem but I think it's reducing my SATA performance. I installed XP Pro on an 80 gig ATA drive. Then I loaded the SATA drivers in Windows, which made the drive instantly appear in My Computer. I then installed Seagate Diskwizard and formatted my SATA drive, then used Set Up New Drive - as Boot Drive to copy the files from the ATA to the SATA drive, making the SATA drive the boot drive. Now I can slect the SATA drive in my BIOS as the boot drive and everything works fine. This still seems like an odd problem since this is an Alienware system which came with XP preinstalled, and I didn't see any abnormal settings in the BIOS or anything else to indicate they used this workaround.

Bad ram? Try with one RAM module at a time. And if you are overclocked reset BIOS to default before you do any testing.
