"Require sign-in" missing in Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB

Q: "Require sign-in" missing in Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB

I have Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB and I would like to enable the account auto login after resume sleep/standby.
If I go in "Sign in options", there are various functionality (Windows Hello, Password, PIN, Privacy) but there is not "Require sing-in" with the ability to choose whether to sign in after standby or not.
Can I enable this feature through another way (for example through Group Policy or regedit)?
Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Not the worst crisis listed on this forum, but annoying. I've google searched and found similar problems, but no solution.

When calling up Windows Explorer, I note the + sign on the folder side is missing. When I right click the Expand option is greyed out and inactive. I never noticed the extent to which I use this as part of my workflow until it is not there. Tried various things with no luck, and figured perhaps someone else has a good idea before I do something stupid.

"A Require CD/DVD Device Driver is missing . If you have a driver floppy disc, CD, DVD, or USB please insert it now. Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you may safely remove it now."

I trying to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64 SP1 onto a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7559 laptop with an SSD drive, and after I insert my CD media into my External CD drive connected via USB (since the system has no internal CD Drive), I get this after clicking the "Install Windows" button. I have researched the topic fairly and I have found no working solutions to this issue. Here are the methods I have tried already:

1. After researching the error, multiple sites recommended i download the Serial ATA drivers from Dell and browse towards it using the driver finder when the error pops up. No Success.
2. Switching BIOS settings to support CSM, disabling secure boot, boot priority, etc where applicable. No Success.
3. I attempted installing from a different source of media aside from a CD and a different External CD drive. I also tried install from a USB stick. No Success. I believe all the USB ports are USB3 so I can't try from a USB2 port.
4. I've tried adding Intel USB3 and USB3.1 drivers to my Win7 USB setup, using dism, but it still doesn't work.

Is this something that can be fixed or worked around?

I'm trying to install an MSI file using an an MST transform file I created using Advanced Installer.

I'm working to install MasterWorks (by Avitru) using an MSI file that I extracted from an EXE file using this command:

<file.exe> /s /x /b"<target-folder>" /v"/qn"
The installation goes through fine using the transform with user interaction (all I'm doing is pressing Next -- the GUI doesn't require any new input/info to continue), but when I try to install on Passive or Quiet, I get the error "Cannot proceed with
silent install. Enterprise is missing".
What could be causing this error?

The end game here is to create a distribution package that I can install quietly using Ivanti/Landesk Endpoint Manager. I am working on a Win 8.1 machine, but the goal is to run this installation on machines running Windows 7, 8, and 10.

Thank you!!

Hi folks,
I am using IE6 (sp2) for WinXP Home Edition. There was a spate of browser home page hijacking for all the profiles but I managed to fix that with several hours of persistent work, running Ad-Aware, Macafee spyware and reading tech help here. One problem remains....
Here is the weird thing: When I go to my Earthlink Webmail sign-in page there is No box to sign in with for password or e-mail address. I cannot access their chat help either. But this only happens in IE. I could see the sign-in in Netscape AND I could see my sign-in on the other profiles.
Firefox browser was suggested and I went to download that (using IE again- sheesh ) but could not find the download button. I thought I was going crazy till I tried the same webpage in Netscape and there it was big as life.
Is my IE corrupted? I uninstalled the SP2 and the problem resolved. Reinstalled the SP2 and it occurs again. Are my security settings too high?
Please help.Thanks in advance.

I'm posting this in the Vista forum because this has never happened with Windows 2000 or XP.

I bought two exact duplicate models of hard disks. I set up Vista Ultimate on one of my systems. I used Acronis True Image 10 to clone the operating disk to the factory-new, never-used, same model disk as a backup drive in the event the first disk failed. I put in the clone to be sure it runs; but, I get the error mentioned in the title of this thread.

Now, if the second disk is supposed to be a clone of the first, why does this happen and how can I fix it?

I'm not married to Acronis for this job so I would use any disk cloning tool that makes a sector-for-sector copy. I use Norton Ghost 2003 for making sector-for-sector raw image (forensic) copies of PATA drives; but, these are SATA drives and Ghost 2003 simply sits there like Tarbaby and he don't say nuttin' to no SATA drive.

In Windows XP, fully updated, I have several folders full of mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

But all the figures in the "Duration" column appear to be in "hours" and "minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03", but what I want is "minutes" and "seconds".

Any thoughts as to how to change this?

Hello all.

First off, I am in no means acquainted with any troubleshooting or fancy thing outside of everyday computer usage, so please respond as if you are talking to a dummy. I do have fairly decent common sense and Google skill however, which has given me enough confidence to try and fix this issue on my own.

Basically, one day I start my computer (running Windows XP Professional SP3) up and get a black screen saying:

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this

Start in safe mode.
Safe mode with networking.
Safe mode with command prompt.
Last known good configuration setting (most recent setting that worked).
Start Windows normally."

For a few times, I was able to get Windows working with the last two options, but before I could dedicate time to fix the issue, it became so that none of these options worked, and I got caught in a restart cycle with this screen. Last things that I can recall that may have caused this: Windows Update or CCleaner Registry Fix (just something I do sometimes to make sure everything is working, nothing was wrong prior).

I bought an external HDD enclosure with hopes of popping my internal into it, and saving my stuff onto my laptop before messing around. Oddly, in My Computer, the 2 drive icons (a System Recovery one, and my Main one) would flash for a few seconds, every few minutes, and when I'd quickly click them, it'd say the... Read more

BTW if it IS in fact possible to copy certain files from my laptop's OS, I just realized I can probably just copy those files into the desktop internal (when plugged in as an external) instead of going through the whole DOS thing? But keep in mind, that's the small 3GB partition, so I don't know if that would even work. Unless putting those boot files on that small partition, will help open up the rest of the drive. Not sure how that works.

A few days ago over half of the shortcuts on my desktop disappeared. I have no idea what happened to cause this. My user desktop folder still showed all of the shortcuts that were previously on the visual desktop. When I attempted to recreate the missing shortcuts on my visual desktop I received an error message asking to rename the shortcut to "Shortcut" (2).

I deleted the shortcuts in my user desktop folder and created new ones on my visual desktop. When I selected "align icons to grid" they all went to the first line at the top of my visual desktop. In addition, when I tried to install Acronis True Image 16 the program would not complete the installation because it could not create a shortcut on my desktop.

A:Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB Desktop Problems

That version of Windows is generally present only in large business installations: and usually under the care of an IT department.

Is the computer with the problem yours or your company's? If the latter, can we assume you have permission to make system changes?

If I had to guess, the problem seems to involve Group Policy and permissions. A system restore shouldn't cost you any loss of data, but of course would cause a need for reinstalling any programs added since the restore point was created, plus the need to reinstall any Windows updates that arrived since then also.

Just curious - if you copy & paste (as an administrator) the shortcuts from the File Explorer folder directly onto your "visual desktop" --- do they work, even if labeled (2)?

... [P.S. ... the Task scheduled to create a daily restore point should work - but you might want to limit the amount of space such restore points can use (can be rather steep) ... but make sure that System Restore shows as "On" for the drive in question in the System Protection settings.

To check:

1) Right-click the Windows Start Menu icon
2) Select System
3) Select System Protection (a blue link in the upper left-hand corner)
4) In the Protection Settings, make sure that System Restore shows as ON for the drives you need it for.

The Task won't be able to run a restore for a drive that isn't enabled.]

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully updated, on an Acer lap top PC.

I have several folders full of .mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. To do this I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

The two new columns appear, but the format of the "Duration" column appears to be "hours:minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03" for most .mp3's, when what I want to see is 'hours:minutes:seconds", e.g. "00:03:45".

This also happens for video files (.avi files), e.g. all my episodes of "Heroes" (sad, I know) have a duration of "00:42" instead of "00:42:xx".

Here are two pictures showing the problem with the .mp3's. The first is of Explorer showing the Duration as "Hours:Minutes":

The second picture is of the properties window of the first .mp3 in the list above:

I copied some .mp3 files to another (old) PC on my home network, and it displayed the duration field correctly:

Also, the properties window correctly shows the duration also:

From an elevated ("run as administrator") command prompt type:

Where the path in red will be the path to the Windows folder of Windows 8.1. Then you can run msconfig to set the default OS and timeout.

A:I have just installed Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB Evaluation

Uhh...gee...Erez: think about what evaluation means. Try it for a while and if you like it, BUY a real copy. When the timeline runs out, you may be able to rearm (restart the 90-day clock) as many as three more times. But after that, you must uninstall, then reinstall to start another evaluation. It's illegal to convert an evaluation copy into a permanent copy, because it violates Microsoft's licensing terms. 'Nuff said.

Hello everyone,
I've downloaded the evaluation copy of MS Windows 10 Enterprise a few days ago, burned the image onto the DVD-ROM and installed this image per given instructions, however it seems that I have installed a rootkit instead. It is apparrent in the number of
executables in the Windows/Windows32 subdirectory, which return with positive virustotal.com results  when queried with the sigcheck prompt (Microsoft System Internal Tools). Also, this image of W10 Ent would not allow me to setup an appropriate firewall
protection as any attempt to do so (only allow ports 53, 80 and 443 only for TCP and UDP protocols), for local and remote connections, end either with full network block (local rules seem not be effective) or with these ports getting forwarded onto ports 50000
and up (netstat prompt). Although a lame question (sorry, newbie here! :), are these local ports supposed to be that wide open, or, should they be also limited in the same manner as the remote ports (53,80,443)?

And finally, is there any other way how to make this image work as a secure OS environment, or, is this some kind of "feature" which the Windows 10 Enterprise evaluation copy is based upon in order for MS to disable the system if anyone then used
this licence in excess of these set 90 days, I wonder...?

This is a question regarding a computer that intermittently ?hangs? at ?sign out?. When it hangs, the screen goes black and no commands are possible. The only recovery is to depress and hold the power button. The computer is a laptop Toshiba Satellite L55-C5272 that was purchased in March 2016 and came with Windows 10. Again, the ?hang? randomly occurs during sign out and will occur maybe 1 or 2 times every 20 sign outs. No other operating problems have been noticed. I have tried to isolate the source of this problem but no success. I have run a ?sfc? scan and no problems were detected. I have run the DISM tool and no problems were detected. I have disabled the anti-virus and the hang still occurs. The primary programs and applications that are installed are: ESET anti-virus, Office 2010, Firefox browser, and Goggle Earth. No games have been installed are run. Of course some games came with the system but none has ever been activated. The system has been rebuilt 3-times in an attempt to rectify the problem. As additional info, the ?hang? has occurred during sign out after a period of no usage after a restart. Any guidance on isolating and/or correcting the problem would be appreciated.

We recently purchased some of the Inspiron 5378 2 in 1 laptops. I installed Windows 10 Enterprise x64 LTSB 2015 like I have on the previous model they are no longer making, Inspiron 5368. The problem is the device "HID Sensor Collection V2" driver on dell's website nor any of the drivers from windows update will work. In device manager three out of four parts of the HID Sensor collection v2 have an error code 10 (device cannot start) failed to initialize sensor from HID collection descriptor. Specifically Locations 0, 1, and 2 are the devices not working. The machines came with Windows 10 Pro and the drivers are working correctly. I was under the assumption the driver pack in pro would be the same for enterprise but, I could be wrong.
I have tried uninstalling the drivers and re-installing them, some forums have mentioned disabling auto-rotate but that option does not show up for me anywhere. Microsoft says the manufacturers make the drivers not them and would not help unless we purchased a $500 service contract and the Dell technical representative said they do not support windows 10 enterprise for those machines and would not help me further. I am at a loss to what to try next any help would be appreciated.

What you need is a new disk. This one seems to be broken. Bugcheck 7a means that an essential Kernel module cannot be loaded. If chkdsk could not repair it, you do not have a lot of options.

Try to save your files (e.g. with Lucid Puppy) and make a clean reinstall on the new disk.

Hi all,

I'm puzzling this one. In the folder options when I choose 'view' the radio button to show the hidden files is missing. I've already checked the registry at the HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Advanced/Hidden

Another thing that I encountered with was that from the start menu the "Help and Support" not working. Again, the registry seems fine, and the process is activated (started). This came up when I tried to use system restore option - with no success.

Virus scan didn't find alerts of any kind

To make a long story short- below is the log file of HiJackThis. Please review it and reply if you see something to be concerned with for repairing my computer.

A:missing "show hidden files" button + "Help and Support" not working from start menu

Ok I found the answer (after quite a lot searching), as follows:

1. for the 'Hidden files' radio button - I used methods 1 and 2 from here-

2. for the helpcenter I just reinstalled it as described here -
note that the file 'dataspec.xml' is needed to be available for this, and it can't be done directly from the XP CD. The thing that worked for me was to insert the XP CD, and use the file that in my computer (C:\) and afterwards another file on the CD.

Again, all this happened with no virus detection, so I believe that there is no infection. However, if someone has remarks on the HiJackThis log I've put, feel free to add them.

Have a nice day,

Howdy everybody!
When I hit the Windows & Print Screen keys, it is supposed to generate a picture of my Desktop into a Folder, within Pictures, labelled “Screenshots.”
But there is no such "ScreenShots" folder there!
What should I do? If I simply create a new folder, and label it “Screenshots,” will do that do the trick?  Or is there a more complicated fix?
Your help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do System Restore Points of type Backup require the actual System Image Backup?

I create a system image backup automatically every week using windows 8 system image backup(that hidden feature). So of course ALL my weekly System Restore Points are of type "BACKUP" i.e. System Image Restore Point & NOT "SYSTEM" i.e. "Automatic Restore Point" see pic below:

When the system image is created it also creates a "System Image Restore Point" of TYPE = "Backup", so my question is, does restoring my computer to one of these restore points actually require the corresponding "system image backup" to make the system restore point work?

I refer only to making use of the system restore point in system protection AND NOT restoring a system image to, for example, a new hard drive.

I hope my question is clear. Thanks Chris

A:Do System Restore Points of type "Backup" require the Bkup

When the system image is created it also creates a "System Image Restore Point" of TYPE = "Backup", so my question is, does restoring my computer to one of these restore points actually require the corresponding "system image backup" to make the system restore point work?

I would say yes it needs the image file. Using the disk cleanup utility you have the option of deleting old system restore backups and shadow copies I believe. And for someone with a decent number of backups this is a massive amount of storage regained because it deletes old images (except the last one) so these backups can get large. So without the image file, the entry is removed and it can't be restored to that point without that image file. Hopefully I understood the question correctly enough.

I have run into this more than once before, and I'm looking for a straight answer as to why this is happening.
There is an avi file in C:\some folder, and I can't rename it.  The message is, "You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this file."  The problem is that I am using an administrator account, and when I look at the
permissions for that file, Administrators is granted Full control.  (I don't know whether an administrator account implies membership in the Administrators group in Windows 7, but I am in that group, in this case).
I also saw that Everyone had Read and Read & Execute permissions, so I tried just granting that group Full control.  This just gave the error message, "Unable to save permission changes on 3441.avi.  Access is denied."
I just want to get an authoritative answer on why this happening and on how to fix it.  Thanks.
I am able to access that file with user Administrator, but not with my own personal Administrators account.  I tried using Administrator to explicitly add my personal account to the permissions for the file, granting it Full control, but I am still
unable to use the personal account to change the file; only Administrator works.

A:I am an Administrator, but I keep getting errors like, "You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this file."

This situation happens because you are not the owner of this folder of file, The default owner of a file or folder is the person who creates the resource.

Log on the computer with the account which created the folder of file, namely the owner, then you are permitted to modify the file or folder.

Also, you can follow this article to assign ownership of files and folders:

Install another browser Mozilla Firefox...this also displays page not available message.
I've also updated my Internet Options to Default, I am not going thru a Proxy server, SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are selected

I've even did a system scan to detect if some of the files were corrupt everything seems fine. The only optin I haven't tried is reinstalling XP. If anyone could provdie any advice before i take this step I would greatly appreciate it!

Just to give an explanation of what happened.. I reformatted my PC (I like to do this often, probably once every 2-3 months. More frequent if I deem it necessary) and I was installing drivers and the likes.. Windows Update, etc..

I was installing EasyTune 6 (This is basically a Fan Control program made by GIGABYTE for their motherboards because their Bio's is complete shit.. but that is a different story) for my motherboard because my CPU fan likes to scream like a goat for no reason at all. The BIOS and default settings like to rev up the RPM on this fan for no reason. No heavy load of programs or anything.. So yeah, we use EasyTune6 to control the fan speeds. I tried to install it with a pre-downloaded version but I kept getting errors and it would Undo the installation (Or what have you). I tried it a few times with no luck. While I was trying again, I was installing Windows Update at the same time. Easy Tune 6 failed to install, and so I clicked "OK" on the error box and let it do its thing. I had to poop, so I went to do my business. I come back to see the computer has restarted (Windows update ^^,) and my EasyTune6 wasn't fully removed. I cannot install a new EasyTune6 with the previous one "Still Installed" - which it isn't.

So, now I have a directory on my computer (C:\Program Files (x86)\GIGABYTE\ET6\) and it only has 1 file inside of it (Flash11e.ocx) that I cannot remove. I use to get the error "You require permission from SYSTEM to make... Read more

A:Gigabyte EasyTune 6 Removal "You require permission from SYSTEM to.."

I have a Gigabyte GAZ77 UD5H motherboard. I originally installed Easy Tune 6 but as I use this system for my Recording Studio PC, I was having problems with popping and clicking in recordings. I ran the DPC Latency Checker program and got some very high spikes at even intervals. After conferring with a custom DAW (recording system) PC builder I found out Easy Tune was a system hog and causing the problems. I uninstalled Easy Tune 6 (using Revo Uninstaller Pro) and that eliminated my system Latency Problems and also eliminated the popping and crackling in my recording audio.

I tried copying a fresh version of the file to \Windows\System32. No dice. I tried renaming it all uppercase and then all lowercase. Nothing. I put a copy in the root directory. No effect. I tried everything I could think of, but nothing worked.

Then--doh!--I stopped thrashing and did what I should have done initially: I dug into the Microsoft Knowledge Base and learned about XP's built-in Rebuild command. It can often easily fix "Missing HAL" and similar problems in just a minute or two. If you know about this command and how to use it, you can potentially save yourself hours and hours of manually reinstalling or rebuilding a failed operating system.

The files in one of my folders aren't showing up. It's only that specific folder that is having problem. Whenever I try to access it, no files show up even though there are clearly files in it (Properties say 20.5 GB). And it will always stuck at "not responding"

This is what it looks like:

I've found a possible solution but since it deals with command prompt, I want to make sure I don't make things worse. I need to know what exactly the following command does:

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*, in which g is the drive letter.

This video: says it reveals hidden folders but I'm not sure if it's relates to my problem exactly since Properties doesn't have "Hidden" checked. It only has "Read-Only" checked under the General tab.

Okay, I have an ATI Radeon 8500 on my Windows XP system, and one day, after my dad had used the computer, the 3D video driver stoppeed working. He can't recall doing anything. So it goes. I think "whatever", downloaded the latest Catalyst drivers, and try to install it, only to get the message "INF Error, Video Driver Not Found" and then "Try to set up your adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup". I tried googling for info (apparently it's a common-ish issue), but I never found anything that worked. I tried uninstalling anything ATI and then installing, to no avail. I tried uninstalling the error-listed VGA adapter from the Device Manager and then running install which didn't work. Rebooting after that also didn't work (it popped up with "New hardware found" after the reboot, but it couldn't find the proper drivers).

After an unedifying series of adventures I got to http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=45&kind=1 which has several drivers for my mobo. I first downloaded (obviously) the VGA driver, and tried to run setup. Unfortunately, after preparing the install, an Error message pops up saying "The system cannot detect the device, please confirm that the device is configured properly and restart the setup program." I then tried downloading the AGP upgrade, installed it, but nothing changed. I also downloaded the BIOS update, since it mention... Read more

A:"INF Error", VGA Driver "Missing" Installing ATI Catalyst Drivers

the radeon is not integrated with your motherboard, and the onboard video has probably been disabled in the BIOS. to install the appropriate drivers for an ATI radeon 8500 card you need to download and install the drivers from ati's website. from there you can download the latest version of catalyst and install that.

My friend's computer seemingly got a virus, since it sent an email to somebody in her email list, on its own. She asked me to take a look.

She had a virus checker, but it had never been updated. So I installed "AVGfree" and ran that. It found a "trojan horse" virus as well as some other stuff that it said should be removed, so I did. I then ran "ccleaner" and it suggested to remove a TON of crap, like 500mb worth of files (she installs dumb stuff on her computer all the time). I removed these files. Then I ran "spybot" and it removed some stuff. I then defragged, which it needed.

So here I am, feeling like a hero, but then I reboot and there's a message saying that "lsass.exe" cannot be found. I cancel this message, and then there's another message saying that "ipwins.dll" cannot be found.

I tell her to just ignore these messages until I figure it out, but then she informs me today that she cannot access her email account on her computer. So I've gotta figure out how to fix this.

Any advice?? Thanks.

A:After virus checking and cleaning, "lsass.exe" and "ipwins.dll" missing

She could try the system file checker : tell her to prepare her XP CD (she'll need it if it asks to replace the missing files), then she will have to go to start => run, and type "sfc /scannow".

If that fails, she can perform a repair install if she has an OEM, retail or upgrade XP CD (recovery CD's cant' do that). She will have to boot on the cd, thus she needs first to change the boot order in the bios to CD-rom first. Then, when XP setup loads, choose the option "To setup Windows XP now" (not the one about recovery console). On the next screen (after the licence agreement) she should be given the option to repair her current xp installation by typing R.

Once that's done, if the CD wasn't a SP2 version, first thing is to go to windows update to reinstall XP SP2 and all updates she could have done since. Don't surf on the internet before any antivirus and firewall (either windows or another) is enabled.

Problem I was having once I completed my new build with old system parts was as listed in title. It started out as select proper boot device, and now it states ntldr is missing. From what I have been reading it seems as if my partition with my windows 7 install is not set active. I do not have my windows 7 DVD only my old vista DVD. I tried to boot into it to make use of CMD and attempt to make my partition active but I was unsuccessful to even get into CMD. I went into bios and forced booted from the drive with the OS and still same error, also I attempted to disable the other sata and run the computer again with no success also. Look forward to hearing from someone soon. I will be sitting by my laptop all night until this computer gets running.

I am having this exact same issue on my Lenovo E520. In the Advanced User Accounts - the box to check to "require users to press ctrl-alt-del" is greyed out. In the Local Security Policy I have disabled the Interactive Login. With these changes made the computer will require the Ctrl-Alt-Del during the first reboot but will revert to the factory settings upon subsequential reboots. I believe it is caused by the fingerprint scanner software or drivers but the uninstall option is not available in the Delete Programs utility. Also I am leary on removing these as I don't want to cause conflicts with the other Lenovo factory installed software. Any suggestions?

Hello Langrabes, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Using OPTION TWO or OPTION THREE in the tutorial below may be able to enable this option again for you so that it's not longer grayed out afterwards.

Secure Logon - Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to log on

Hope this helps,
