I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am trying to mass e-mail to a list of contacts on both my outlook contacts or an excel spreadsheet.

I am having a hard time trying to merge and then e-mail the test messages. We usually use Lotus notes, but I have a seperate account in Outlook that I am using. I have set outlook as the default mail program and for some reason when I finish the merge nothing happens and no e-mail is getting sent.

Does anyone hav any ideas of how I can get this to work or what else I can do for troubleshooting.

Thanks so much in advance.

I have been sending individual emails to roughly 400 of my clients and perspective clients per month.  I have been sending them one by one so I could personalize it. I need to be able to do the following.

Include the first name of my client after "Good Afternoon _______ "   in the body of the email.

Select 1 of my 3 business email addresses from my Microsoft Outlook 2007 Imap emails.

Include 2 PDF documents.

Using mail merge via  Microsoft Word does not give these 3 options from what I can find.  This would save me so much time if I can send personalized mass emails to my clients.  Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Picture Attachments sent via e-mail using OE 6.1 or Outlook 2002 sp3.

I am having issues sending pictures (i.e.: jpg,gif,etc...) from my e-mail account within my profile of windows (xp pro) as well as from my wifeĺs e-mail account through her profile in and on the same machine.

When I send a picture (regardless of size) to a recipient other then myself at the same address, the picture becomes seriously corrupted.

Attaching or imbedding the picture within the e-mail yields the same results.

Recipients are using a variety of ISPs.

Case in point: if I attach and send an e-mail to my wife on the same computer through my OOL account to her OOL account the picture becomes corrupted... If I send it from my account to myself it comes through fine.

First noticed this problem approx. 3-4 months ago.

Originally running latest version of OE and then following directions from MS KB removed OE and re-installed, with no change. I later removed OE access from the machine and replaced with Oulook 2002 sp3 (part of OfficeXP Pro). Initially I thought the issue resolved but upon further replies from people I sent pictures I re-tested as I did originally and the conditions remained unchanged.

I am running a Linksys router (for the past 4 years) with a static IP address assigned to my desktop (winxp pro) and DHCP enabled for transient machines (such as my work laptop which is set up for dhcp).

I have a 16port unmanaged switch and a netgear wireless router/ap configured as only an AP (n... Read more

If it doesn't mean AOL please ignore my suggestion and minor rant.

Sorry but I'm one of those people that believe the best thing anybody can do is get off AOL. Why have to work on problems caused by your ISP.

There have been problems also with random commas as well. All this is when using the wizard. Is there any greater control on the actual formating of field? I'm attempting to use the mail merge wizard to merge envelopes using and Excel file. Everything works fine until I come to an envelope that goes outside the US. I have a field set up for Country and when I go through the Match Fields box under Optional Information, that field is selected. However, it never prints the country. The country does add a sixth line to the address. Is this the problem and, if so, is there any way to get it to recognize more than five lines in an address?

Another problem that is not major but bothersome. I have over 300 names on the Excel list but am printing envelopes only for the first 190. Is there any way other than selecting Clear All and going in and selecting each envelope ONE BY ONE to get it to print only the first portion of the list?

Hello -

First off I just want to say I'm new to the forum...you guys have a great group and great info here!! I'm looking forward to being a part of it...

Now to my problem - I'm having some issues with the mail merge function in MS World 2002.

First, when I have a Table of Contents in the Main Document and merge to a new Document, the entire Table of Contents turns into hyperlinks instead of remaining a regular Table of Contents. I tried deleting the \h switch from the TOC field code but no luck. Any ideas what to do? btw- i never had this problem when I was using Word 2000.

Second and more important problem. When I have cross references in my Main Document (For example a cross reference in Section 12, saying refer to Section 2 which is hyperlinked) the cross references go hard after the document is merged, meaning they are no longer "shaded" and "hyperlinked". Any ideas how to retain the coding so cross references stay cross references even in the merged document?

Thanks in advance guys!

Hello,
I was earlier having problems with my Outlook 2002. I was getting a cryptic error message when I try to download my email messages (typical Microsoft). I googgled the error message and found that my *.pst and *.ost file was at maximum. I had to Shift+Delete messages I don't need. I tried to this but get another error message. Again I googled for answers and found that I should make another email account from the control panel. This worked but did not fix the problem, I just avoided it. In the process, I "lost" all the old email messages I need by creating a new email account. The account set up is exactly the same as the original account setup.

The thing is, I had to get an old message from the original account. I did this and found that the problem I had that prevented me from shift+deleting was fixed! I was able to shift+delete unwanted email messages.

This now created a new problem. As I used a new email account, I have my email in two different email account set-up.

What I would like to do is merge the *.pst and *.ost files (and any other files) together so I get all the email messages in under one account set-up.

I only use one email address, I just had two email account set-up with the same details (smpt, pop3, logon name, password)

Is there a way to merge (if this is the right terminology) the relevant files?
Please let me know if what I wrote does not make sense.

Thank you.

A:Solved: Outlook 2002 *.pst *.ost files can I merge them?

Outlook 2002(Part of the Office XP suite) and earlier use a format of PST files which are hard-coded to stop at 2GB. You can import the mail into an Outlook 2003 PST if the 2GB is too small.(this requires you to always use 2003 or higher client going forward) I suggest getting your hands on Outlook2003, or even 2007, because it really gives you alot more options and features. (and flexibility of your mailbox)

Inside of outlook under the File Menu in Outlook 2002, do you see an Import/Export item?

If you select that it will open the import/export wizard. Then you say Import>From Another Program Or File>Personal Folder File

then you find the old PST file. You then have an opportunity to tell it where in your outlook folder structure you want it to dump the data. I suggest selecting the top level in both of the PST's and tell it to copy subfolders, so it will move everything to the same folder in the new PST. Keep in mind if the old PST is 2GB you're going to run into the same file size restriction quickly if you're still using the same version.

Recently I send out a bulk email for our CEO (ya, that's right, the big guy!?!). I had a mailing list as my datasource, created the document in Word (as my email editor), attached two files and sent it off. However, once the merge was performed and everything was sent out the attachments either weren't on the resulting mass email, or only the icons for the attachments appeared. Simply, the attachments seemed to be stripped off the resulting email.

Does anyone have an explanation for this? I've looked on the MS Knowledge base to no avail. I'd really like to be able to explain it to the CEO so I look like less of a bumbling idiot!

Cheers

Hi I have a strange situation arising at an office with about 12 users.
User A sends a group email with an attachment to everyone in the office, the sender and the receivers are all using the same domain, mailservers etc.
User B who uses Outlook Express receives the message with the attachment, user C using MS Outlook 2002 receives the message but not the attachment.
If user B forwards the message to user C they receive the message and the attachment.
So the attachment is somehow blocked at user C but only when sent from user A
Can anyone point me in the direction to identify the problem please

Hello

I loaded XP Pro on a new Emachines PC that had XP Home and I am not sure my problems aren't a result of this.

I loaded Office 2002 including Outlook.

Outlook worked fine initially but now will not allow attachments. It freezes whenever I try to insert a file.

The rest of Outlook and Office work great.

I tried to repair Outlook with the CD but that didn't work.

Should I delete Outlook and then reload the software?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, just a bit of advice needed on this one for the time being...
I need a macro that will:

- Save all (Excel) attachments from the currently open email message (or a message selected in the Inbox) to a directory on the PC.

- Merge all the saved Excel files into a single file - they're all formated exactly the same - data in about 20 columns, no column headers or anything, just standardised data.

- Save the merged file with a standard name (i.e. every time this is ran, it needs to have the exact same filename).

- Delete all the files in the directory apart from the merged file.

I know there's probably a fair bit of code online for doing the individual parts of this. Can I do both from within Outlook? It doesn't particularly matter if I need to do this in 2 steps - an Outlook macro to save the attachements, and an Excel macro to do the file merge etc.

Cheers.

I've recently started using the new version of Outlook - XP or 2002 whatever they call it. It seems that Microsoft has built in a sercurity block against certain attachments and I can't figure out how to change it. The help file is no help (as usual) and seems to indicate that I can't change the settings unless I have Exchange Server (I don't need it). Here is the help explaination:
"Attachment file types blocked by Outlook
There are two levels of attachment security. Access to level 1 files is blocked and can't be changed. When you receive an attachment with a level 2 file type, you will be prompted to save the file to your hard disk. If you use Microsoft Exchange Server, your administrator can add and remove file types for both levels of e-mail security."

Does anyone know how to change these settings? I need to recieve .exe files and they are default blocked because people have taken advantage of Microsoft's poorly designed products in the past so now they've totally turned around and made us suffer by elimating a main function!

Thanks.

p.s. Pleas no "you should have used a different email client" posts as I'm not a big fan of Microsoft either, this isn't my choice!!!

I've got a slightly odd problem when trying to send attachments.

An attachment can be sent to one recipient no problem. If I try to send the same attachment to more than one recipient they receive the following error message when trying to open it...

The document name or path is invalid. Try these suggestions
*Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
*Use the open file dialogue to locate the document.

Is there a setting in Outlook 2002 or Exchange Server than stops the sending of attachments to multiple recipients?

The only other thing I can think is that the ISP may have an overzealous spam filter, but it even stops it if it's sent to as few as two recipients.

Thanks for any help.

PLEASE HELP!

Currently having a major poblem with Outlook 2002. Whenever I try to view a message with an attachment, Outlook hangs - and I can do nothing except minimize or close it. (If I right click on the message it produces the same results.)

I've already tried EVERY available Office and Outlook update that is available as of today.

Someone did point me to a MSKB article about a problem that sounded like mine - there was a patch, it didn't work. It said that the problem had something to do with "Alternative User Input" (which I have now totally disabled and removed).

It seems as though after I perform and update it works - but one restart later - its back to not working.

Uninstalling Office does not work - I still have this problem AFTER TOTALLY FORMATTING MY HARDDRIVE.

Any suggestions, tips, or advice will be appreciated. I NEED Outlook (or at least Microsoft has me thinking I do). Thanks in advance!

Hi TSG members.

When a message is sent through Outlook 2002 (using an IMAP4 server) with certain attachments , the recipients receive the message with their names twice at the To: or Cc: field, and the attachment(s) is(are) also duplicated (two files instead of one).

The attachments that are apparently causing this are usually non-zipped PDF or DOC or XLS files. Couldn┤t reproduce it with ZIP files or more than 5 attachments, or no attachment. Could reproduce it with a 1.9Mb PDF file.

User complained about receiving email like this (duplicated addresses in the headers, duplicated attachments), I could reproduce it on my machine as well, but in an intermittent fashion - it is not always reproducible.

I can eventually reproduce it when sending mail to another user at the same organization (same IMAP4 server) or to an external address (e.g. to my personal account, also configured on my Outlook).

The item seems normal in the Sent Items Folder, there are no rules duplicating, moving or copying messages, and when accessing the IMAP4 server through webmail the message is fine (no duplicated names or attachments).

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks a lot!
Namaste and peace.

"Some program is trying to access to send email. If it is not ok, click deny and check your virus settings ..."

I am forced to click "Allow" for every mail, this is too much to take for the number of mails I am sending
Is there a way to disable this warning system when I am doing a mail merge

Kindly help

Thanks and regards

There are several users on this account each with their own email address all ending in the same @.....
One user however is now unable to send emails from her laptop with any attachements to them.
I've tried asking her if she has any anti-virus on there but she has no idea and her total lack of knowledge on how to use a computer means it's impossible for me to tell.
She says the firewall is switched on but thats no good to me, lol.
Can someone help me step by basic step how to find out remotely what the problem is just with her on the other end of the phone.

I can blunder my way around a computer with some basic knowledge but in all fairness when my friends have IT issues they come to me as they've no clue how to search for answers online.

All help would be much appreciated!!!

I rececently switched to a new computer and this problem is still happening!

When I forward an e-mail with attachment and attempt to "spell check" the note I write along with it. It freezes my computer.

On my older computer I tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, and it still happens.

Any ideas? should I be downlaoding some windows updates?

I've found that when I receive e-mails from certain people there is nothing in the body of the base e-mail but rather the e-mail the other party sent is an attachment. Would anyone know why this is and what I can do about it?

Can anyone advise me if there are limits anywhere to the number of e-mails I can send out simultaneously when using a mail merge to e-mail? I have set up and tested the mail merge and it all works fine, but I don't want to launch the real one only to get problems. I have a mailing list with 1,600 addresses, I'm using Outlook and Word 2011 for Mac to do this.

A:Mail merge to e-mail using Word / Outlook 2011 for Mac

One of the problems your going to face is getting labeled as a spammer. If your sending these internally it may not be a problem. The standard answer for this is to Outsource this if your sending over 100. Good decision not to launch the real one yet.

Computer: Dell Inspiron 6000 with 1.5 GHz Pentium M processor and 2 GB of RAM.

Windows version: XP/Pro SP 3 (V. 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp.080413-21111 : SP 3)

Word version 2002.

I have 2 problems with using the Outlook version 2000 Mail Merge feature.

Problem 1:

I want to Mail Merge Outlook contacts into Mailing Labels. however, there is a field missing from the available fields after I complete the all the steps.

I tried this 2 ways:

1. All contacts in current view/All contact fields

2. All contacts in current view/Contact fields in current view--after adding the Categories field to the Current View

I also tried adding a user-defined field and then tried both choices above.

In all cases, the Categories field or user-defined field is missing from the available fields: missing from the Insert Merge Fields and missing from the Mail Merge Recipients dialog box.

Here is the sequence I use:

Open Outlook

Click on Contacts shortcut (or View/Go To/Contacts)

Tools/Mail Merge

Select All contacts in current view/All contact fields from the dialog box choices. Select Mailing Labels from the Document type drop down box.

Click OK

Click OK on the warning message: "Outlook has created a MailMerge document...."

In the Mail Merge Helper dialog box, click on Main Document/Setup

Select the label product/type from the Label Options dialog box. Click OK

Click on Data Source/Get Data/Use Address Book. Select Outlook Address Book. Note that the Categories field is not include... Read more

i am mail merging (word 2010 and excel 2010 database).

when i choose to send the messages as HTML, all is good.

when i choose to send text or attachment - i get this security warning. even after pressing "allow" - nothing happens. (nothing = no trace of messages in outbox and no mail sent)

i know that: "If you choose a format other than HTML, an Outlook message may inform you that a program is trying to access e-mail addresses and send e-mail. This message is a security measure designed to protect against viruses that replicate through e-mail. To continue with the merge, select the Allow access for check box in the security warning dialog box, and then select the amount of time that you need to complete the merge. Click Yes. If you are prompted again, continue to click Yes until the merge is complete."

thank you very much!!!!

I have a buncha junk spam stuff setup to go straight into my 'junk email' folder. Is there a way to set it up so when new junk email comes I don't get the mail and sound notification?

Also, what's a good (free if posible) anti spam program and how hard is it to set up?
Thanks

I'm trying to find an efficient way to send out batches of form e-mails at work. I'm doing it manually now, which is very time-consuming and tedious and prone to mistakes.

I basically want to do a mail merge, but instead of using Word to output form letters or envelopes to a printer, I want the output to be e-mails sent from Outlook. Each mail will need to go to a different e-mail address, and I need to be able to insert customized bits of information like name and department, which I already have stored in spreadsheets, into the body of the message.

Does anyone know of a good way to do this? I've read about a way to do it using Word & Outlook, but I heard that has some kind of huge limitation? (Send To: isn't a location you can place custom data?) I've also found numerous software packages just by Googling for "Outlook mail merge", but I don't know which ones are good.

Any advice appreciated!

A:Outlook + Mail Merge

I think you need to do this from Word and make sure that Outlook is the default email program.

Follks, my problem is this:

When I want to send an e-mail to, say, 50 of my contacts, I use mail merge feature in Outlook. When I click on it, it takes me straight to a Word document, where I start with choosing a greeting and then typing in my message. While in Word, I use a Mail Merge Wizard function. However, I don't know how to attach a file to this e-mail (as an attachment). What I've done a couple of times is "cut-and-pasted" stuff into the body of the e-mail itself, but it's not an elegant way of doing it. THERE HAS TO BE A WAY OF ATTACHING DOCUMENTS TO THESE BULK E-MAILS. PLEASE HELP!!!
