Win7 Pro crashed. No ISO. Can I buy/install from Amazon, etc?

Q: Win7 Pro crashed. No ISO. Can I buy/install from Amazon, etc?

I have a friend who has a Win 7 Pro X64 disc. That is what is on my ASUS G74. My computer is just a mess, so I would like to do a fresh install. I have the SN decal - can I buy his copy and use it?

I also have the backup discs that I burned, but they are not working. I changed the boot order, its just not reading them. The current install is from teh Digital River ISO, but I can't find that disc.

Or can anyone point me to the legitimate iso?

Preferred Solution: Win7 Pro crashed. No ISO. Can I buy/install from Amazon, etc?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I found a copy of the iso on Google Drive, but I am a noob and have no idea if that's safe to use?

Could anyone please link me a PCI only (no express, no x1 or any of that) ATI card that works with Win7 64 and available on amazon.co.uk? Whenever i do searches for cards I keep getting pci-e instead of just pci and the pci cards dont seem to work too well with windows 7. Im not looking to speed ?100 on one either, just want to get a third screen up. So much harder than i was expecting. Really should have just bought a different motherboard with 2 x pci-e x 16 slots.

I am using a 64 bit version of Win7 Ultimate for about 3 weeks now. Always used the same laptop for nearly 3 years, simply because it manages whatever I need. But now I somehow end up with bluescreens sometimes within an hour, sometimes within 2 minutes, my game (World of Warcraft) shuts down for whatever "Internal Error" and I've even gotten a hardware crash. Things I already checked are

Drivers up-to-date
Virus/x-ware scans (you never know )

I am not in the financial position to be able to purchase a new laptop or PC, any chance to fix this bug would be awesome.

Any additional specifications:

Laptop type: Fujitsu/Siemens AMILO Xi 1546
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)
RAM space: 4096 MB

2,0 GhZ processor capacity
4 TB Harddisc

Yes, it is an older laptop, I haven't replaced anything besides it's RAM memory and it's harddisc. But as far as I know, this shouldn't be the cause of a system crash?

Also, I am cooling the thing down with both it's original internal cooler and an external cooler from below, it doesn't overheat.

But I do end up with a rich assortment of crashes, the bluescreen cheers up my desktop as often as it possibly can, and the crashes of anything I do on this laptop are always able to ruin an evening that was crappy already. I have first been getting these problems when I downloaded Comodo IS Pro. Apparently when I approached them for help, the technician did not reply to me after telling me to install.

Thus I did a system restore and the computer could load in normal mode(however the screen, etc loaded slow like hell.)

Yesterday, I downloaded comodo firewall and something familiar appeared

From Problem Reports and solution, these are the service that crashed:

4X svchost.exe
1X lsm.exe
1X sandboxie.exe
1X wininit.exe

But guard32.dll from comodo is the module causing it according to Problem Reports and Solution, but anyone knows why and how to solve it?

Hey all, I just installed win 8 dualboot a couple hours ago, to complement my win 7 (installed the developer preview of course). Immediately after, my internet (ethernet or wifi) would not work on my win 7. Ethernet would result into 'unidentified network' and the machine won't pick up the ip address or something, I think. No matter how hard the IT guys tried, they couldn't get it to work. Wi-fi could be because I have a lousy router, but I am not sure. Is there a way to fix ethernet/both? I have a feeling ethernet is 100% related to win8 installation, wi-fi not so sure. I checked the drivers -- they are the same as before. I uninstalled, reinstalled, disabled/enabled, etc. etc. etc., nothing happened. Win 8 internet works fine. Thank you!

A:dual boot installed win 8 --> win7 internet crashed?

Problem solved -- apparently installing win 8 (even dual-boot) induces something in the system that makes your Ethernet card (provided it's Marvell Yukon I think) unusable unless you update the drivers on the Win 7 side. Did that, it works golden now. Wi-fi was just lousy because of the router.

Dear,

My Sony VGN-Z36 randomly crashed with 7a code, I have checked my memory, hard disk, SSD days and nights but no error detected. I've had this laptop with Win7 x64 for 4 years, the 7a problem came up months ago, and even the Sony Service found no error with the hardware. Then I try WIN8 for a month, everything is fine, but the 7a code comes up once I downgrade to WIN7. I bought a new pair of memory, and the 7A still here.

Have you tried deleting the network device from Network and Sharing Center? Its under "change adapter settings". You just right click on the device and delete and then just try to install it again.

But you said you used Wifi? Does Wifi work with Windows 8 when its not with your Windows 7? If it does not work with Windows 8 as well, it may be a hardware trouble if you said your router was lousy. Is this a home or an office computer? If you could get a spare router, maybe you could check if that will work instead.

This is known as an APPHANG; if the problem cannot be resolved, the app times-out, then becomes an APPCRASH (about 30 secs). The 3 symptoms...

- "Not Responding..."
- Blue circle spinning endlessly
- fading white background on IE or Windows Explorer
- Did I miss anything?

Given that you can run in SAFEMODE tells me it is probably a driver issue. I know that my Vista x64 has been updated with Firefox, although not used (IE 8 fan here!).

Then there is Adobe.... I gave up on running the Adobe Reader -- it caused constant hangs, crashes and I believe at least 1 BSOD. Why... I don't yet know.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to come to for this. For the last few days, I have not been able to access amazon.co.uk or amazon.com. My housemate (who I'm on the same wireless network as) can access it on his computer, but when I try on mine, I just get redirected to my Sony Vaio google search page saying it can't find it. I've done three scans for viruses etc and got nothing. I've reinstalled IE7 and all that's changed now is that when I try and access amazon, it now comes up as Cannot display page, so it's not even redirecting me to the Sony Vaio google seach page anymore.

I know amazon isn't down as my housemate can get it. Can anyone suggest what's wrong here? To me it's very bizarre and has never happened before.

So about 2 hours ago on my PC. I was playing WoW and had a hard crash and lock up. So I restarted my PC. Everything seemed fine. Just a mysterious crash. So I went on to updating my graphics drivers since it had been on my mind to do so. About half way into the update my desktop then crashed again. Only this time it cannot even get windows 7 64 bit to start up.

Then I ran the Start up Repair program. I get a message that it cannot repair it automatically.

On a history note. This PC has been pretty good to me. A few months back I had a bad run in where my RAM wasnt being read correctly and a simple re-docking fixed that. That was solved on this web forum as well. I don't know if its connected. Just a reference on history.

Other then that I'm not exactly sure how to go about on fixing this. I've never had a problem where even Windows wont boot up.

BSOD data is attached. I tried running perfmon / report in safe mode but I got an error. Saying the path couldnt be found.

I have a multiboot win7 /xpx64 TWO DISK system, showing win7 as the C; drive and XPx64 as D: when examining via My Computer.
Cloned the C: drive (win7) using Samsung tool to same size Samsung evo SSD. When put in computer the dual boot option gone. The SSD clone of win7 runs ok, but with that in alone (no XP disk) My Computer now shows two drive, C: local disk 488GB free of 931GB, and D: Data 100Mb containing a folder Boot containing folders such as cs-CZ containing a single file such as bootmgr.exe.mui
Minitool Partition shows
D: Data primary active&boot
C: system

(Trying to fix the multiboot on the original installation has killed the old XPx64 disk drive (now unrecognisable during boot) and left me with a system having only win7, and no boot loader showing during startup.)

What I want is a duplicate of the original setup but with the SSD running the win7 section. Am prepared to reload the XPx64 as reinstall, although I have a copy of the XP drive if that could be somehow reattached. or if the damaged XP disk could be repaired.
My guess is that the problem comes from the cloning not being what is should, ie bit for bit image of the original disc including MBR etc. (Correcting this would not help because I have damaged the original setup.)
For a start, is it possible to make the SSD run win7 but appear as a single drive, and then add a disk and load XP and have it show as D: (This keeps all the higher disks with their original labels, ie DVD E: datas F:... Read more

PW confirms that C is the booted OS as signified by the System label - while in Disk Mgmt this label would be Boot. The boot files actually booting Win7 are on D as signified by System Active.

To confirm this please post back screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image and we will tell you how to correct it once we know for sure. If it confirms it by showing the labels reversed (which would be correct due to PW's unusual labeling scheme) then as long as C is a Primary partition you'd simply Mark C Partition Active and run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times to move boot files to C.

The best way to configure a Dual Boot on separate HD's is to set have each HD boot itself, then set preferred to boot first in BIOS Boot Priority, boot the other (XP) using the one-time BIOS Boot interrupt key at boot. If this is not to your liking, install EasyBCD to Win7 to add XP.

But we need to sort out your Win7 boot first so let's see the screenshot. Confirm also whether XP partition is marked System Active in DIsk Mgmt, or Boot Active in PW.

Hello all,

I have a vaio laptop with a dual boot win7/vista setup. I simply want to format the whole drive back to one large c:\drive, then reinstall windows 7. I have heard horror stories of people saying their boot manager becomes corrupted. or goes missing. I enclose a snapshot of my hard drive config. I would appreciate any advice on this matter.

Thanks

A:A fresh win7 install over a win7/vista dual boot system ?

is it the only HDD in the laptop (i used to think 1 was the max but i've been encountering people with two recently)? If so, (and if you want to wipe the hard drive completely (don't forget to deactivate any programs, such as iTunes)) just put the install disc in, boot into it (without booting into windows), choose the install option that isn't 'upgrade' (i think it's 'custom' offhand). when it takes you to the partition manager, click 'advanced' on the bottom bit and delete and format all partitions until you have just one big empty disk.
If that doesn't work or if you think it might not, just boot into a Puppy Linux live cd, open up gparted and select the 'new partition table' tool.

I am trying to install 64 bit Windows 7 in order to repair windows installer, which gave me lot of problems that i couldn't solve. So i tried an upgrade installation (as suggested in another forum) with the original cd. (Win 7 was already installed on the pc, in this way i only tryed to repair the error)

The installation was going well. No problems were encounted as the program proceeded through the gathering files process. Then, a MSDOS window appeared and the installation hung-up. At the top of the box is: Adminitrator:X:\$WINDOWS~BT\Windows\system32\cmd.exe. Inside the box is: X:\$WINDOWS~BT\Windows\system32>wpeinit. On the next line is:
X:\$WINDOWS~BT\Windows\system32>_

The installation has stopped.

Now i can regularly use the pc if before booting that screen if i press up and down keys alternatively until i can choose to continue win7 installation or start windows. In that way the pc works fine.

But i would like to prevent this operation (the pc isn't mine)... So anyone knows how to cancel a previous pending installation of win7??

Thanks in advance

A:Wpeinit during Win7 install & Cancel pending installation of Win7

Try continuiing the installation to see if it will proceed or offer to roll back, Then try to start it over again watching for issues it flags to resolve. Back up your files, of course. Unplug all peripherals and other HD's.

If it fails I would back up your files, gather program installers and Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail Win7.

Hello

I have purchased and downloaded both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows7 Professional (no CDs or media here only download version)

I sucessfully upgraded from Vista 32 to Win7 32

Then I upgraded my hard disk (140Gb 500GB) and RAM (3GB to to 4GB)

Now I would like to go from Win7 32bit to 64bit

When I try and run the Win7-P-retail-en-us.x64.exe file it upacks the box then stops with this error:"We are unable to create or save files in the folder in which this application was downloaded. Please check the folder properties to make sure that you have security permission on the folder to write flies and that that folder is not read only"
I am the System Admin and I have full rights, and have moved the exe and the setup box files to My Documentsand I have modified the directory properties/attributes but I still get the same error over and over.

I searched the posts and some people stated one needs a clean install others say you can upgrade from any version so I am trying the upgrade here especially since the upgrade from Vista 32 to Win7 32 was smooth and did require all the extra work of a reinstall.

Can someone help me here?

Thanks

A:Win7 (32bit) to Win7 (64bit) upgrade install error

I believe to go from 32-bit to 64-bit, you will have to boot off the DVD. The installer is a 64 bit application that won't run under 32-bit. Find instructions to create a DVD if you don't already have it.

Good luck!

Scenario is I have a new sata3 SSD drive on which I want to install Win7. The PC has an existing build of Win7 on a different disc which i want to reformat & use for data. I tried this previously and ended up with a dual booting system. Trying to remove the old Win7 installation and format that disc created much trouble so now I'm starting again.

Can someone tell me please how to:
1. Install Win7 on the new SSD disc (I'm assuming this will work ok as I've done it before),
2. Have the system recognise only the new Win7 installation at boot & not the old Win7 installation so I don't have to select which OS to use,
3. Reformat the old Win7 disc and remove any boot references that it might hold.

Thanks!

A:Create Win7 installation on new disc and remove old Win7 install

Only have the SSD connected when you install the new OS.

Then connect your old drive, boot into your new installation and format the old drive.

All done.

I recently switched out some hardware and I now have a 64 bit processor, so I'm trying to install Win7 64bit through a custom install. Unfortunately I can't even get through the "Collecting Information" step due to this error:

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."

I looked for quite some time browsing through forums. I usually never have to make help posts because there are solutions already out there. I've seen this error come up a lot for people, but they either didn't burnt heir disk correctly or didn't have the right drivers installed for their mobo. I'm barely 15 and built this computer myself, so it is likely I screwed up in a few places.

I do have a PCI-E card to convert my IDE CD/DVD ROM and burner to SATA because my mobo doesn't have an IDE slot... Does it have to do with that driver (I didn't install it yet)

Or is there something else i'm doing wrong? In BIOS I have it set-up to load through the CD/ROM and even my USB. (I have a slow burned DVD of Win7 and bootable USB with WIN7 made on Ubuntu...)

Hey, I currently have Windows 7 Build 7264 64-bit, and I have a lot of apps installed. I don't want to lose them, so I want to upgrade. Can I do this with my specs? (64 bit, 7264) Upgrade to 7600 RTM.

If I can't, how can I keep my apps through a clean install?

but if you cant upgrade, you can always use windows easy transfer? or something ( I never used it b4)
Clean installation is ALWAYS the best. Upgrading causes a lot of errors.
Also, just ot let you know, windows 7 7600 is MUCH more stable than any earlier windwos 7 builds (explorer and ie stop crashing0!!!)

Hi there!

I have a problem with the AVG Free antivirus software. I installed it some months ago and it was working correctly, but I did something in the start menu (I don't remember very well what I did but I think Windows was saying that there were some apps that were launched when the system started and that it was more secure if a disabled them, so I did it.... and since there, the AVG stopped working. After that, I tried to uninstall it but the system didn't let me do it and I had to download a tool to do it. After that, I tried to install again the antivirus but now it has been impossible to do it because when the installation is almost done, the software sends me a message that shows the error "OxC0070643 Event exec_finished". So, what can I do?

I will appreciate your help!

Best,

M?nica

PS. My lap's OS is Windows 10.

Anyway, I was installing XP on a wiped hard drive and the computer froze in the middle. No it will not start in XP. It just restarts. It will start in safe mode, but what should I do from there? I already ran repair, same thing happens. I tried to format and reinstall, same thing.. Can someone help.. PLEASEEEE!!!!!!

A:Computer Crashed On Install

Be sure that the install disk is free of any smudges, scratches, lint, dust, etc.....
If the disk is clean go to the hard drive manufactures website and download the drive diagnostics for your HDD model. Run the tools to see the if the HDD is good.

Do you have another XP install disk you could try?

I recently had to perform a repair install of windows xp on my computer. But after it began, and was at the part where it was "installing devices", it crashed to a blue screen of death saying BAD_POOL_CALLER, and something about a memory dump. I restarted it and the repair install started back up again, and finished normally. But then my computer wouldn't boot up, it give the options: start normally, safe modes (and other safe mode options), and the last known config that worked. I tried each of them but every time i did it, it would take ne right back to that same screen. I can't even get into safe mode.

So evrytime I try to repair install again, and it crashes again to the BAD_POOL_CALLER blue screen (stop code 0x000000C2).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly attempted to perform memory operations. Typically, a faulty driver or buggy software causes this.

I think your system have trouble with unload Schema hive - it is only temporary hive and after restart system never use it.Download MEPIS Bypassing Log-in Passwords to Access Folders on Drive
burn, boot it and navigate to folder C:\Windows\System32\config ->in this folder find SCHEMA file and rename to SCHEMA.OLD ,next run system normally.

rebooted again with different BIOS setting and it goes through post , lists USB devices , PCI devices , IRQ settings and then stops after the last line where it says ACPI controller.

i went back in to BIOS and checked all boot priority settings , i tried to reinstall the operating system , but it goes through the windows installation dialogue , then stalls at the point where it says " Setup is starting wondows " and just hangs

i thought the HDD was faulty , so installed a brand new HDD , tried to install windows on that but get the same problem ., it just hangs and wont start windows.

Bought Toshiba Qosmio X505-896 with Win 7 Home Premium x64 installed (C). Upgraded to Win 7 Pro x64. Partitioned drive with Easeus and did clean install on new partition (E) with another Win 7 Home Premium x64. When boot to the Win 7 Pro partition shows everything proper C drive, E drive, D drive - dvd. But when boot to the Home Premium partition it shows itself as drive C and shows the actual drive C as D, and the dvd as drive E. Home premium installation would not recognize video adapter, network adapter, etc. Not sure what happened during the installation that the drives show differently depending on the boot partition. Was finally able to get network driver loaded and to the internet, so believe Home Premium was activated. Is there a way to correct all this without doing format and another clean install on partition.

A:Custom win7 x win7 install on two partitions

Nothing to correct - this is exactly as it should be in Win7 which always itself as C when booted.

Most drivers are in installer with newer delivered quickly via optional Windows Updates.

Any drivers then missing in Device Manager can be found on the Toshiba Support Downloads webpage for your model, or click Update Driver in Device Manager, then browse to the D:/Windows/System32/Drivers and /driverstore folders to see if it will pick up driver from there. Driver Install - Device Manager

Check the activation status at Computer>Properties. You can insert the Home Premium Product Key on COA sticker there to activate with the license which came with computer.

May I ask why you upgraded HP to Pro and then Dual Booted a new HP install?

Right now I'm on MacBook Pro and I'm trying to make a bootable usb to install windows 7 on my other computer.

On this guide I followed only the first step How to Boot A Linux Live USB Stick On Your Mac
Step 1: Check And Format Your Drive

then I followed this
Creating a Windows 7 USB installation disk on a Mac - Super User
To put the windows7 on usb with terminal.

The usb should be all set.

I plug it in the computer, start it, spam f12 to open the boot option and then I get the list to chose from where to boot.
Floppy
LS120
+Hard Disk (inside there are 2 options, one is the usb name)
CDROM
ZIP
USB-FDD
USB-ZIP
USB-CDROM
USB-HDD
Legacy LAN

I'v tried every option and nothing is booting the usb. Even under Hard Disk where it shows the usb name, after I press it, it says booting from CD/DVD.

When I'm in BIOS on top it says (CMOS Setup Utility - Copyright (C) 1984-2008 Award Software)

I don't know what else to try, so I am asking for some help.
I'm not good with computers, so if you are trying to get more information on the situation, tell me where to find it.

Long story short, can't boot from usb and don't know why.

A:Making win7 bootable usb on Mac, to install win7 on my pc. (need help)

Is the target PC UEFI? If so you want to use a Windows PC to follow Option One of UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows.

Otherwise follow Step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which also will show you how to do a perfect install.

You are allowed to install it on your computer. There is no difference except that the installation is stuck on your computer and cannot be moved. Well, unless that was from another PC. Where did you get it?

If you don't get video (especially so early in the boot process), and you've tried another monitor, then the next thing to test with would be another video card.

Hi green fairy and welcome to TSF,

I'm assuming you've already made a proper backup and that you're going to perform a clean install. If so:

Start installation again.
When prompted to choose a partition press Advanced drive options > Remove all partitions.
Create a new partition (or two if you'd like) of the Unallocated space > Format it.

Try again.

Hi,

I'll try to be brief but still give all the relevant info. A friend has a laptop that was infected to some degree by the ThinkPoint virus. They asked me to help, so I found the instructions listed here and ran through the process.

Malwarebytes found 60 infected files, so I clicked remove. It said it needed a reboot, so I let it and it rebooted fine. I then tried to install Avast antivirus as they had requested; I foolishly selected to include Google Chrome (seems foolish now anyway). It was running through the install, got to the point where it said it was at 100% installing Chrome, and it crashed.

Now I can't reboot, even in safe mode! When I reboot in safe mode with networking, it stops and hangs at: DRIVERS\isapnp.sys

When I boot normally it hits a very quick blue screen of death that's gone before I can read it.

Thanks in advance for the help. I'm going to look like a real bozo if I return his computer doa...

Appreciate it.

Since there is no cd/dvd drive in a Dell Inspiron Duo1090, how is the OS reinstalled. Can it be done from a USB Drive? An external CD/DVD reader? Does the new drive need to be set up via USB from another computer? Does the DUO have to go back to Dell?
Thanks for information.

A:Dell Duo with crashed hard drive/OS install

You can install from a USB drive.

I'd guess also from an external DVD reader.

I'd seriously doubt it has to go back to Dell, but if the hard drive failed you may have a warranty claim.

If the drive did not fail, it may have a usable recovery partition on it from which the OS can be reinstalled.
